How to configure my Firefox thus allowing me to input Chinese characters into the search box by using PenPower writing pad while this problem doesn't exist when I am using Internet Explorer?

I am using the electronic writing pad made by PENPOWER Inc. to input Chinese characters onto my PC programs (e.g. Winword, Internet Explorer, Excel, etc.) But I can not make it happened on Firefox, please advice what I have to do with the configuration of the Firefox or using any other method to make it work. Thanking you guys in advance for helping me to solve this problem.

cor-el,
Thank you very much for your advice. The new software of Penpower works rightaway after I installed it on my pc. Thanks again.

I am using Linux mint 12 with firefox.
Everytime I try to type something in the search box a further box appears to tell me this is a JSON file and what program should I use to open it.
This has only happened since reinstalling my system a couple of weeks ago.
I am not really interested in what a json file is I simply want to get rid of this pop up box.

Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I'm entering data into a website via Ctrl-c Ctrl-v and it is entered as a picture with a sizing box around it instead of text. This does not happen when I edit the site with IE.

• My mouse is unable to access the top toolbar in websites and email with Firefox - this problem does not present in Windows XP or Internet Explorer

My mouse is unable to connect with the top toolbar of my hotmail account and any other websites I visit using Mozilla as a browser. This problem does not occur when I use Internet Explorer

The answer was perfect! I fixed the problem following the link. When I posted the question yesterday, I was not very optomistic that anyone would reply and/or help - but, I was wrong. The solution was quick and simple.
Thanks very much!!

Perhaps if you change your setting here:
orange Firefox button or Tools menu > Options > Applications tab
In the search box, type power and then pause until the list is filtered. If you have these, try changing the action to "Always Ask":
Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation<br>
Microsoft PowerPoint Slide Show
It's possible that if you don't have Microsoft Office installed, you might not have those listed.

• Using Quicken to manage a bank account, I get an error message from the bank that cookies and javascript must be enabled, but I don't get that message when I connect with Internet Explorer.

Firefox allows me to get the bank home page through Quicken. But when I try to login, the error message appears saying "cookies and javascript" must be enabled. I have Java on my system, but in Firefox under "tools/options/ I don't find any way to "enable" javascript. I have enabled "cookies".
I have no problem logging in at the bank site using Internet Explorer, but to use it, I have to designate it as the "default browser" before connecting through Quicken. I'd rather keep Firefox as the default.
A bank tech representative was unable to find any commands in Firefox that would deal with this problem, although she clearly had manuals for both Internet Explorer and Firefox. So she concluded that I would have to use Explorer for this operation, since it allowed control of security level settings. She said that in Explorer, security level should be set to medium.
Is there some similar control in Firefox?

Firefox uses the same "security level" setting that is set in IE.

Hello,
If you can actually see all of your tiles, you can change your configuration page settings:
# In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
# Click I'll be careful, I promise! to continue to the about:config page.
# Search for browser.newtabpage.columns and change it to 3, or however many columns you like
#* Note: browser.newtabpage.rows allows you to change to how many rows you want as well
Alternatively, you can set a fixed number of tiles with the following extension:

Click the Firefox button, go to Add-ons, then Plugins and disable "My Web Search". This is adware which runs in the background and spends its time trawling the web searching for ads to feed you.
Also, something shows in your system details with the number 2,5,3,1 . Can you tell me what that is please? It's located in the same Plugins menu.
Similarly, I see three versions of Veetle. Disable the older ones if you don't need them.
On the security side, your Flash player is out of date and exposes your system to exploits. See: http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb11-12.html (Update link near the foot of the page).
If the problem persists, try running Firefox in Safe Mode. If it functions properly in that configuration, then one of your add-ons is the culprit.

How do I stop firefox from redirecting every page I click on in Google search? No matter what I search for in Google when I click on it Firefox redirects me to some other search, sales, or contest page. I have a security program running, no maleware, adware, or virus on my pc. Thanks for the help in advance.

Sounds like a dose of search redirect malware or a redirect virus.
Install, update, and run these programs in this order. They are listed in order of efficacy.<br />(Not all programs detect the same Malware, so you may need to run them all to solve your problem.) <br />These programs are all free for personal use, but some have limited functionality in the "free mode" - but those are features you really don't need to find and remove the problem that you have.<br />

Firefox 6 will not allow you to paste a cookie into the addressbar like all previous versions have. I use software to replace web chat and must do this and have been able to do it in all past versions. What's the deal?

Thank you for your response.
After searching around for any pointers to my problem, the above fixes I listed were the things that came closest to maybe addressing the issue, that I was able to locate. But since none worked, and as you pointed out, it is now clear they will only help towards viewing sent images rather than helping with inserting any images in the body of the email, which is the problem I suddenly started facing today.
Coming to your suggestion, on opening the Write window, the Insert choice on the menu bar is indeed available. And I had already tried using that, by clicking on the Insert ----> Image option listed. That opens
up the "Image Properties" box but using that has not resolved the matter either. It results in an image box getting inserted within the email but without the actual image itself.
Plus, normally I am able to use the Paste function in the Edit menu or through right-click, but today the (Cut/Copy/Paste) functions have gone inactive, thereby disallowing me to use that to place an image within the email.

Hello. I have windows xp. When using Firefox as my home page, I get awful screen interference of lines verticle and horizontal. When I switch to Internet Explorer I don't get them. I want to keep Firefox as server.

Here is something that you can try:
# Click on Tools and then click Options.
# Select the Advanced panel
# Select the General tab
# Uncheck Use hardware acceleration where available.
# Click File and then click Exit.
# Start Firefox normally.
Once you have followed those steps, you'll want to follow these as well and see if the lines are gone.
Click the Help menu and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
Let me know if this has eliminated the problem.

• With Mozilla Firefox, I cannot go to "File" and then "Send Link" so as to pull up an email ready to send via Outlook Express, as I can with Internet Explorer - how do I change the settings to permit this?

If I am using Explorer, I can go to "File" and then "Send Link" -
an email will automaticallt pop up, with the website url pasted in;
I merely put in the recipents email address, hit Send, and away it goes
With Firefox, the email does not pop up; I have to manually pull up an email ("create mail"), then copy and paste the website url
displayed by Firefox
I want to override this default to Explorer

Hi,
Please try this: Tools (or Alt + T) > Options > Applications. Look for or start typing mailto in the search box and for the Action change it to the desired mail client (the application that opens up in Explorer) if the value is different.
