How to configure onboard Front Audio Pin ?

Dear Sir,
I just have problem with front audio pin connector. My motherboard is MSI 915G Combo. In the manual it's describe as follows..
1.  PORT 1L
2.  GND
3.  PORT 1R
4.  PRESENCE#
5.  PORT 2R
6.  SENSE1_RETIRN
7.  SENSE_SEND
8.  KEY
9.  PORT 2L
10.SENSE2_RETIRN
My Casing has only 8 pins. I already connect pin 1,2,3,5 and 9. It can produce front sound for head phone now but not clearly enought. But my casing has left another 3 pins to connect.
1 is GND and another 2 is for MIC.
So How can i connect it for front mic ???
Can any1 help me .....
with regards,
Joe_Lay

  • ~~KT4V~~ Front Panel Pin Connectors (USB + Audio)

    Hello All
I have a few questions on setting up the front panel pin connectors from my case to my new KT4V board.
    First question: USB
My case is usb 2.0 (Raidmax Scorpio)it has two seperate pin connectors a 4 pin and a 4 pin + GND pin on the second wire. I assume I put the GND in the JUSB1 #10 slot which is marked (USBOC) in my manual. Is this correct?
Second Question: Front Audio (Microphone, Headphones)
The front panel Audio Connector: JAUD1
The four pin connectors that my case has labeled is:
    1. MIC DATA
    2. MIC GND
    3. EAR R
    4. EAR L
I am pretty sure MIC DATA goes in pin #1, and MIC GND goes in pin #2. As far as both EAR pins, I am not sure and would appreciate some help in this.
    Thanks in advance.
    ncarme  :D

I know, I have the book in front of me. But the names on the board and my case are different. Thanks for the info on the usb, how about the audio inputs.
    Thanks.

  • MSI 975X motherboard-how connect front audio and mic connection to mobo?

My case has separate connections (not a single molded) plug for Mic and Headset.
Can someone tell me the connections by colored wire perhaps to best connect the various leads to the JAUD1 connection?
    Thanks,
    Peter

    Hi Peter
You might be lucky and discover that someone has the exact same case as you, so they would then be able to tell you the wire colours (If you tell us the make and model of your case). Far as I know, there is no set rule to the colour coding, but you should see a label on the actual wire connector (yes, they are not exactly big, but they do have a label usually!) The manual tells you what each individual pin of JAUD1 is for. The negative wire of each set is usually slightly thicker than the positive. This is all similar to JFP1 and JFP2, for the power switch etc, so I assume you have already developed paper-thin fingers in order to handle these connections
Here is Intel's descriptions of the pins:-
For Intel High Definition Front Panel Audio
    Pin  Signal Name      Description
1    PORT 1L               Analog Port 1 - left channel (Microphone)
    2    GND                    Ground
3    PORT 1R              Analog Port 1 - right channel (Microphone)
4    PRESENCE#          Active low signal that signals BIOS that an Intel® HD Audio dongle is
connected to the analog header. PRESENCE# = 0 when an Intel
                                   HD Audio dongle is connected
5    PORT 2R               Analog Port 2 - right channel (Headphone)
6    SENSE1_RETURN    Jack detection return for front panel (JACK1)
7    SENSE_SEND         Jack detection sense line from the Intel HD Audio CODEC jack
                                    detection resistor network
    8    KEY                     Connector key
9    PORT 2L                Analog Port 2 - left channel (Headphone)

  • (help) front audio panel cords-- sound card??

    Dear all....
I have an ancient SB Li've! 24 bit SB 040.
Can anybody help me how to connect front audio header (casing) onto the card (ceati've proprietary connector)?
There are 0 pin connector on the card while the casing itself has only 7 pin.
    Regards,

I was wondering that myself. The only thing I think you could possibly do is have both the onboard and the pci sound card enabled and use the onboard sound just for the headphones. I have no tried this yet as I do have the cables connected to the mobo but I have the onboard sound disabled.

  • P7N SLi Front Audio Problems

    I'm running Windows 7 x64.
Installed the latest Realtek driver for ALC888 and strange things now happen to the front audio ports.  The autodetect ports doesn't work.  Even if there is nothing plugged in, Realtek says there is.  I cannot seem to mute the speakers when I plug headphones into the front ports even though I set this in the configuration.  Also, the microphone does not work unless you shout at it in the front port.  It works OK in the rear.
I tried uninstalling the driver and installing the original one from the disk that came with the motherboard but it made no difference.
According to Realtek, the drivers should all work in Windows 7.  I don't believe them.
Any suggestions gratefully accepted.  If it comes to the crunch I guess I'll have to buy a sound card but I hope there is a solution.  I'm fairly sure it's a driver problem.

No sure how well the driver supports goes for Win7 currently. Do check the pins connection as well.

  • Connecting SB Live! 5.1 to front audio po

    Hi!
I have OEM version of SB Li've! 5. that I've bought with Creative Inspire 500 speakers. I also have a case with front audio ports but the problem is that I don't know how to connect soundcard with these ports. I haven't found any info about such possibility in manual but i have only short version of manual 'How to install'. Is there any possibility to connect my SB with the front ports? If there is - how can I do it's
    Regards,
    vacu
    ps.
sorry for my English, I hope you understand me

If you can find a 0-pin socket on Li've! card board, then you can connet your card output internally to the case audio/mic ports by following instructions given @ http://audigy2zshowto.blogspot.com/
NOTE: pin orde may be different on Li've! (instructions are for Audigy 2 Zs, but works well least w/ Audigy 2 card too (I have done this)).

    Hi Frankenputer,
I'd also like to thank you for such a fast response! I do have a copy of the manual in my grubby little hands and I did read it. That's how  I was able to identify the motherboard pinouts in my first post. I guess that one slipped by you  . The link you provided is great, it'll come in handy if I ever misplace the manual down the road.
My problem stems from the way the case manufacturer labelled the wires for the front audio connector e.g. using a naming convention that differs from that of the Intel Front Panel I/O Connectivity specification.  Specifically the Mic-VCC, Line-L and Line-R wires.
Stated simply, I was hoping one of the experts here might be able to tell me/confirm if Mic-VCC should be connected to pin 3 - AUD_MIC_BIAS or to pin 4 - AUD_VCC, and if Line-R should be connected to pin 6 and Line-L to pin 10 on the motherboard.
Again, thanks for your reply and have a great day!!!

  • HP m7160n front audio jack problem

I am running Vista Home on my m7160n Media Center PC.  I used to be able to plug in my headphones to the front audio jack and it would cut out the rear speaker output.  Now it doesn't!  I have gone into sound properties and is IS set to turn off rear jack, when the system detects a plug in the front jack.  The headphones still work, but i need the speakers off when using the headphones.  I hope thats enough information.
    This question was solved.

    Hi MrBassMan26,
That is odd and sounds like the jack-detect isn't working right. Did this issue just start happening? Did it occur after installing anything, even a Windows Update?
If it just started happening, you could try running a Windows System Restore to an earlier point when it worked properly. Or you could trying re-installing the sound driver or even installing an updated sound driver. That should take care of it, and if it doesn't you may need to make some configuration changes in one of the Sound properties (Windows or Realtek).
I see that you have Vista, did you by chance upgrade to Vista from XP?
Try installing the Vista sound driver from Realtek: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&Down...
Let us know how it goes.

  • [SOLVED] Front audio panel still not working on K9N Neo V3

I already posted on this here: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=113813.0.
I still didn't get front audio panel to work on MSI K9N Neo V3.
Even with my new case; Sharkoon Revenge, it is not working. It wasn't working on my previous noname case too. However, front audio panel on my previous case was working on several other MBs except on this MSI K9N.
Now, I'm using the latest Realtek HD audio driver.  I think it's from February '08. Just as with the driver dowloaded by Vista via Windows Update, anything plugged in front audio panel isn't recognized. In this new version of Realtek driver I can't find this Disable front audio panel option so I can't tell if it is checked or not.
Once more, there is not much to do wrong while connecting. Case front audio panel cabel is the same as on all other cases I've ever seen/had. It's a cable with the same number and position of pins as in all other cases. It fits fine on MSI K9N Neo V3. Rear audio panel is working fine.
    Any solution to this!?

From what I can see from the Sharkoon product page, the front panel connectors of your case are not compliant with the Intel HD Audio Pin Standard.
Do you have a manual for your case that includes Pin/wire definitions for the front audio connectors?
No. There was no manual in package. I never thought I will need one either.
Here is Sharkoon Rebel Pin Assigment; http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/9729/pinslk2.jpg

Have you tried disabling automatic front panel jack detection in the Realtek HD Audio configuration utility?  If you don't know were to find that option, access the tab labeled "Audio I/O" and click on the tool icon.
Yes, I tried disabling it. Two tabs (front audio out and front mic) appeared but none of it works.

From something I read: You can also physically check the audio cable of the front panel audio solution.  If there is a cable connected to Pin 4, you have an HD Audio module; if there is no cable to Pin 4, you have an AC97 module.
I don't really understand this. Could you please check this on Pin Assignment scan I uploaded above!?

  • K430 Front Audio (Mic and headphones)

    Hi there!
I got a k430, and I just bought an audio card because when I plug my headphones into the front panel, the sound is horrible. So I installed my Creative Sound blaster Z, and when I tried to plug the front audio cable to it, I realized it was not the same connector!! The lenovo one got more pins! How can I do to plug my front audio cable to my new audio card?
    Thank you for your help!!

I think I know what is the problem... site shows sound driver for XP and Vista 64bit but I installed Vista 32bit and am looking for Vista 32bit drivers . Why are there complete drivers for Vista 32bit (Equium A300D), except sound? :(
Thanks, I will try these for Satellite...
None of Satellite models has drivers for Vista 32bit... one has but Realtek :(
Maybe I should install Vista 64bit ? I dont remember if previous was 64b :|

If you bought a new case, it should have something on paper that shows the front conecter pinouts for the front audio connecters.
    Hello again.
On the JAUD there are  9 pins (but only 8 of which are active).
There are 7 connectors for the front (4 speakers, 1 ground and then the 2 MIC)).
And whilst this case is new, my only complaint is that there is no wiring instructions.
    I hope that helps.

  • MSI ms-7529 v1.6 Front Audio!

Can anyone please post how to connect the ms7529 v1.6 front audio to the motherboard? HELP NEEDED ASAP!

More correct, you 're trying to connect 'ms7529 v1.6 motherboard TO the front audio'.
    1. check in your manual, does your MB have AC'97 or HD audio.
    2. does your chassis have AC'97 or HD audio connector ( or maybe just separate pins?)

  • Nemesis Elite case front Audio & MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum

    Issue/dilemma I'm having:
I recently purchased a  K9N2 SLI Platinum motherboard and Nemesis Elite case. Here is my dilemma: the naming conventions used for the audio connectors from case and motherboard pins are different.
ie. case connectors are labeled; mic in, mic pwr, R-Ret, L-Ret, R-out, L-out and Ground. The motherboard pins Front Panel Audio Connector: JAUD1
This connector allows you to connect the front panel audio and is compliant with
Intel® Front Panel I/O Connectivity Design Guide.
    HD Audio Pin Definition
    PIN SIGNAL DESCRIPTION
    1 MIC_L Microphone - Left channel
    2 GND Ground
    3 MIC_R Microphone - Right channel
    4 NC
5 LINE out_R Analog Port - Right channel
6 MIC_JD Jack detection return from front panel microphone JACK1
7 Front_JD Jack detection sense line from the High Definition Audio CODEC
    jack detection resistor network
    8 NC No control
9 LINE out_L Analog Port - Left channel
10 LINEout_JD Jack detection return from front panel JACK2
This motherboard is based off of Intel HD audio. The case doesn't support HD audio! Can anyone give me a mapping of the case to the pin head that will work?
    Thanks

     Try this:
If you want connect an AC’97 front panel audio system to HD onboard headers, try these steps:
    Connect Mic_IN (MIC) to MIC2_L.
    Connect Audio_R (RIN) to OUT2_R
    Connect Audio_L (LIN) to OUT2_L.
MIC_RET and OUT_RET are for HD audio only; you don't need to connect them for AC'97 audio.
