You are correct - Cisco's IS-IS has no internal support for optional metrics. The only metric value that is going to be used in best path selection is the default metric. Regarding considerations about metrics in IS-IS, the only consideration I find important is that all new IS-IS deployments should use wide metrics. These can be activated using the metric-style wide in the router isis configuration. Wide metrics allow you to use a significantly wider metric range than the original IS-IS standard: 24 bits for interface metric, and 32 bits for total path metric. It is important to say that all L1 routers within an area, or all L2 routers in the domain must use the same metric type, either the classic (also called narrow) or the new wide metrics.
Apart from that, there are no special considerations I am aware of. The choice of metric values for a particular interface is completely up to you. Of course you might want to configure lower metrics for faster interfaces (and vice versa), but what values you choose is up to you.

I have 2 cisco 2621 series routers to be configured in bridge mode.
i'll be connecting this 2 routers using serial connection 128 lease line.
the problem is im not sure how to configure this 2 routers in bridge mode.
as far as i know, i need to issue the command no ip routing.
is there anything else i need to do?
can anyone guide me on how to configure
the router in bridge mode? is there any support page for this is cisco website?

How to Configure an Cisco 5505 for PPTP VPN connectivity

I currently have a Cisco ASA 5505(ASA Version 8.2(1), and ASDM gui version 6.2) and a Windows 2008 R2 server with one NIC card. Currently the router is connected to the interent sucessfully using the 'outside' interface(devices connected to the 'inside' interface have access to the internet and are assigned IP addresses via DHCP on the Windows 2008 Server which is also connected to the 'inside' interface) When connected with a client on the inside interface I can establish a VPN connection with the W2008 server, however when I try to connect through the internet I cannot. I have tried researching this on the internet, but have not had much luck. I know it has something to do with pptp port and allowing gre, but I am not familiar enough with configuring Cisco devices or the language they use, to configure this router. I feel as though I am missing something small but very critical. Any help or feedback you can provide regarding this issue is most appreicated, thank you.

How to configured different AD sites mailbox user able to send & receive mail to each other?

I have 2 system in one system i configured DC=Yahoo.com + Xchange07 & on 2nd sytem i configured DC=Google.com + Xchange 07 successfully configured (in VMware)
I already made entry of Both DC's DNS entry of New Host record & NewMail Exchanger (MX)
both DC ping each other with DC name i.e. yahoo.com DC ping to google.com & vice-versa.
Same AD site mailbox user able to send & receive mail but google.com mailbox user can't send & receive mail from yahoo.com as vice-versa.

I recommend you check if you can telnet the other CAS/HT server on port 25 from each side.
If it connects, is there any error message or NDR when sending or receiving email from each other?
If it fails, please check if port 25 is open. If you have a firewall enabled, please make sure that port 25 is open. Besides, please check whether the DNS records have been configured correctly.

How to configure router with static IP

Hi,
I have requested a static IP from ISP provider.
Now I would like to give static IP addresses to all my internal PC's using my Mac Extreme router.
my ISP requires the Airport extreme to be configured in 'DHCP' (internet connection).
If I use 'static' then the ISP router does not see my Extreme router.
However my mac router does not allow me to use internet connection 'DHCP' when using router mode 'DHCP only'
Can anybody give me a some tips?

You are talking about two completely different Static IP questions here.
If your ISP has issued a Static IP address to you for the AirPort Extreme, this is the IP Address that you must use in order for your AirPort Extreme to connect to the Internet.
Open AirPort Utility, click on the AirPort Extreme icon and then click Edit
Then click on the Internet tab a the top of the screen.
The setting for Connect Using must be set to Static, and you will need to enter in the IP address, DNS servers, etc information that your ISP has provided for you to be able to connect to the Internet. In the screenshot example below, you would enter the Static IP address that your ISP provided to you in the IPv4 box.
For now, click the Network tab at the top of the screen and insure that the setting for Router Mode is set to DHCP and NAT.
We first need to make sure that your AirPort Extreme can connect to the Internet using the Static IP address that you have been assigned.
Then, we will tell you how to set up Static or Reserved IP addressed for each of your devices on your local network if this is what you want to do. Normally, this would not be needed, but it can be done if you wish.

How to configure router in front of firewall

We are putting a Cisco 2611 in front of ASA 5510 to accept a DS3 circuit. After circuit activation, 2611 can get out to Internet, but both internal user and ASA cannot access Internet.
The design is as following
Internal user <-> ASA e0/1
ASA e0/0 <-> 2611 gi0/0
2611 s1/0 <-> Internet.
Internal user - ASA - 2611 - Internet
I'm not sure if I require additional NAT on 2611. Can someone please provide help on troubleshooting this?

How to configure OWA in multiple AD sites when using one entry point for external OWA clients ?

Using Exchange 2013 (e2013), SP1.
Three locations. (Let's say Location-A, -B, and C.)
Each Location is an AD site, and physically "remote" from the others.
Each location will have one e2013 server, each server running both CAS and Mailbox function.
The main location ( LOC-A) is where all external OWA and EAS will "enter" from the Internet, via a firewall.
The E2013 server there will "connect" (?) to the e2013 server for "this mailbox",...at any of the 3 locations.
What "special" configuration do we need on the 2 remote/other e2013 servers for OWA virtual directory (or similar).
It looked like it was working "out of the box".
Some users work OK, with no special changes to anything.
But some users have OWA in a "never ending wait" (browser appears to spin forever),
and that might be due to a different Language at the other locations.
I guess Exchange knows how to "internally route" the OWA traffic from the LOC-A CAS to the LOC-B CAS.
(In Exchange 2007 we called this "Exchange CAS proxy" as I recall, but not sure that term is correct in e2013.)

Based on my knowledge, if User-A logon OWA in L-B, CAS-B would accept the request first.
Then it detect the User-A's mailbox located in L-A. CAS-B will proxy this request to CAS-A.

How to get the number of decimal places configured for a site column

Hi,
I have a column 'SampleNumCol' of type Number, the number of decimal places to be displayed is configured as 2.
The column conatins a value, but when retrieved programatically is displayed as 5.00000000 instead of 5.00.
I am retrieving this column using listitem.Properties[field.InternalName].
I need to trim the decimals based on number of decimal places configured for the site column.
How to get the number of decimal places configured for a site column?

Get the field as SPFieldNumber and then check DisplayFormat which returns

I have created a Cross Site Publishing Environment in SharePoint Online. After connected
to my catalog. 2 pages automatically created. But in "Category" page, if i click on an item it will bring me to the original path/item located in Authoring site. How to configure Content Search Web Part on Category page to show the Published Catalog-item
page on Publishing site?
Can we do this by changing the property mappings?

According to my understanding, you want users to be redirected to pages in the current site instead of the source page of the search results in a Content Search Web
Part.
By default, the hyperlinks of the search results in a Content Search Web Part will point to the source page where the data comes from, when the hyperlink of each result
is clicked, user will be redirected to the corresponding source page.
If the data comes from other sites, what page do you want to display when user clicks a search result in the Content Search Web Part?
Property Mappings can help to control the content of each part of a display template, however, there seems no such property in the search result can help to redirect
to the pages of the current site, thus, it might not be able to meet your requirement.

How to configure the SSL with SharePoint Site

my site is running on http.
When we create the new website it will ask about "Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL): "
i have select the no and develop a site.
now i want to move it on httpshowever i want to configure this site with SSL certificate.. how can i move it to https?
any one help me how can i acess my site from https:// URL.
i have bought the SSL certificate.

I am also having an issue with adding and SSL cert to an existing site. I am also using a hostname vs the server name for the URL. Here is what I have done so far:
- Local MS DNS Entry (spsite.abccorp.com) point to the IP address of the SP server.
- ensured the port 80 and 443 boxes are filled in in IIS for the "Sharepoint - 80" site.
- Added Certificate to that IIS site, but did not make SSL required (so I could try both http and https without it barking).
- Under the Alternate Access Mapping Section of SP, I changed the URL from http://spsite.abccorp.com to https://spsite.abccorp.com for the "Sharepoint - 80" Collection. I even tried just added the https url to the "Custom" area vs the "Default"
After I have done all this, I get "Page Can Not Be Displayed" when going to the HTTPS site but works fine for the HTTP.
Any suggestions?

How to configure Hyper V VM replication between 2 different sites (located geographically at 2 different cities)

Hi all,
I would like to know how to replicate VM's between 2 different sites which are entirely located at different parts of the cities and also
they are on different domains. Both Servers are running HyperV 2012 R2 Standard. As initial phase I have copied the VM's files (.vhd and other config files) from Site A to Site B.
In this case, can any one please guide me on how to achieve this replication between 2 different sites.
A quick response is much appreciated...

I would suggest you to build a site-to-site VPN to achieve this .
Also you need to create a domain trust for two domain , as it has been deployed by other people :
