How to configure Search for a site in sharepoint 2013?

Hi,
I had a document library.
1)I want to configure search so that I can search documents from previous month, quarterly, half year, year, and all documents is possible.
2)Search results are organized with most recent documents at the top.
3)Search results have year as refiner that can be used to show results only from specified year (In library we have field with year when document create)
To achieve this what I have chane in site settings->search
and what I have to write for Result Types, Query Rules

Following are the steps you need to perform for creating the search center.

1. Create the site collection by navigating to the CA(Central Admin) & select the Enterprise Search Center Template.
2. Create Content Source -> Navigate to the Search Service application->Create the content source if the content comes from other content farm (if different farm accout if it same add the site Collection URL in default Content Source. ( make
sure the crawl account must have full read permission)

3. Once you add url in the content source and run the full crawl.

Hi,
From your description, you want to find a way to promote result from a particular site collection when users search on
Enterprise Search site.
To add promoted result, you can create new query rule and add
Promoted Result or Result Block to highlight the results you want.
Moreover, What do you mean when you say promote results from a particular site collection if the user initiates search from that particular site collection?
A real sample? Please explain more about your requirement so that we can provide more detailed information.

How to apply masterpage for document library in SharePoint 2013

Hi,
is it possible to change the master page in library level.

DO you mean JUST at the library level? If so, there's no way that I know of as Master Pages are applied to Sites at a whole. They then have Page Layouts added, which tell SharePoint where to load the content, which is where your document library
would be.
What do you hoping to achieve?

Plan for multilingual sites in SharePoint 2013

Hello All,
I would like to create a sharepoint site that supports more than one languges, ie, user must be able to switch the languages according to his convinience
I want to translate both site administration pages , the user interface &content to Arabic language. i refered the url below

I understood that installing language pack deosnt affect the content and using variations doesnt affect the UI and Admin pages. I am looking to change both the content and UI to another language.
It will be great help if anybody can guide me on this

As the article says there is no single solution. To change the user interface you will use the MUI but to provide content in different languages you will need to use variations. You can implement an environment that leverages both features.

How can I "search" for Library Items?

I am developing a site in flash and have over 800 Library Items. My problem is, I need to edit a portion of a Library Item and cannot find the Library Item, and NO, I did not delete the Library Item because when I go to preview or test the flash document, the Library Item is there in the movie. Is there any way to search for the Library Item? I am using Flash Professional 8..

I'm not sure how you would search for it if you don't know how to identify it. You should be able to doubleclick on the object on the stage to open it up for editing. When you do that, the stage area will display the library name of the object at the top of the stage border in a tab. Things are ordered alphabetically in the library, so if you know the library name of the object you should be able to narrow down where it is.

How to configure SMTP for iCloud?

I have never used the Mail program on my macs. I started using Eudora in 1995 and when Mail came along some years later, i didn't take to it, it didn't have the functionality i needed and enjoyed. Fast forward to a couple days ago, my Snow Leopard MacBook is wearing out and i got a new MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion. When i was setting up the new computer, i thought iCloud would be configured automatically. It wasn't because i have a couple of different Apple IDs but i think that is straightened out now and i'm signed in using the me.com email address and have my calendars and contacts syncing with iphone and my other computer. Mail is working, but only for my me.com email address which i rarely use. I mainly use a gmail address.
I don't want to use Mail and i don't want mail to be downloaded to it. That happened on my other computur, so that i had tens of thousands of messages in a program i never open and don't use. So i somehow turned it off so it no longer gets the mail from my other accounts. i don't want to receive email in Mail. But because i can't use Eudora in Mountain Lion, i need a new email client. Today, i downloaded and installed Mail Mate, i want to try it out. When I tried to use Mail mate to send an email i got a message saying "No SMTP server configured for iCloud." i googled how to configure SMTP for iCloud and what i found said it configures automatically. So i don't know what to do. I went to ICloud in system preferences and i don't see anything i can do there.
Is there anything i can get it to do to configure automatically? All my software is up to date, if that makes a difference.

i was persistently googling search terms for this problem and came across a link that gave information to the effect that for non Apple email clients, SMTP has to be configured manually, and the settings were provided. I entered them into Mail Mate and now it works. So thankfully, this problem is solved.

Input requested: Issues in upgrading search for public site to 2013

We have a fully branded 2010 public site that uses search. In our upgrade to 2013:
We'd would prefer not to perform the visual upgrade because we don't want to update our master pages and page layouts.
Search currently uses a 2010 search scope to limit results to the single site collection - there are other portals on the farm.
We can't use the new 2013 result sources that replace search scopes, so I'm looking for a good way to limit search results. I know I could create a separate search service app for the portal, but I'd prefer not to do that.
Does anyone see a way to do this without performing the 2013 visual upgrade OR using custom development OR creating a new search service application that serves just the 2013. I know I'm asking to have my cake and eat it, too, but I want to exhaust
all easy options before I try something more complex.

You can configure Spotlight so it will also search in system files or you can download and use EasyFind 4.9.3 that doesn't require special configuration.
Get Spotlight to search system files (and more)
Enter the search term in the Finder window's search field.
Click the [+] button in the search bar to add a search option.
In the first drop down menu choose Other.
Choose “System Files” from the list that pops up (and check the box to place in drop down menu to avoid this step later,) click on the OK button.
Now back in the Finder choose Include from the second drop down menu.

How long does it take before someone can search for your site after publishing? I published a site this past weekend, but it doesn't appear on a google search...

You'll definitely have to allow some time for Google's spiders to crawl your site. The more links you have in different places that point to your site, the faster you can potentially get crawled. If you go to Google and the other search engines, you can submit your URL to the search engines directly as well, though this does not guarantee being included in any timeframe either. Mine took about 3 weeks from when I first started my website.

Photo albums are not searched by Spotlight Search. Go to Settings > General > Spotlight Search to see and reorder the available search items.

If you mean searching for a song that you already have in your Library, then you can select "Music" first. Then, go across horizontally to Genres and select that; then by using the drop-down menu found under "View" & (of course) select "View Options"-- you will be presented with a limited # of choices to sort by.
My iTunes 11.0.5 shows 4 parameters to choose from: Title, Artist, Year and Rating. Then you can sort & finally...
