    Hi,
It's a good idea, but currently it's not yet supported.
In Work Center, there is no predefined (nor a hidden) link shipped by SAP to access the Solution Database for key users.
With a future EhP for Solution Manager, you might get an integration of the Solution Database into the message processing Web UI.

  • How to Configure Solution Manager for 1.Download SuppPacks 2. Monitoring 3

We recently upgraded to ECC 6.0 and installed Solution Man., very vanilla.  Basically just to get the Key to do the upgrade with.
I would really appreciate it if someone could share any documentation that would provide guidance on how to now further configure SolMan for the following
    1.  Monitor our Landscape which comprises of ABAP ECC (java is installed though not actively using), and SAP BI 7.0
Sandbox, Dev, QAS and Prdn  for BOTH ECC & BI
    2. Download Support Patches from SAP Marketplace (currently we have had to donwload the long way with download manager creating a message to get them apporoved whew... this is work..)
    3. Add messages to SAP Market Place (thru SolMan)
4 Possibly monitor security and manage userids etc (if possible)
And if there is functionality that will make the BASIS experience better I would definitely appreciate it.  We don't need the help desk as we already have it ,but, we may take advantage of Project documentation
I would really really appreciate it if someone could advise
    Kind Regards & Thank You
    Maria

    Hi Maria,
With solution manager you can definitely do a world of things, below is a list inclusive of the features you wanted:
    1. Dowload SP-Stacks, etc - you will have to configure Maintenance Optimizer for this (MOPZ).
    2. Monitoring - you can monitor your ABAP and JAVA stacks using the monitoring features of CCMS which is embedded in Solution Manager, please have a look at the monitoring setup guide (for NW04S) in the Service Marketplace. Basically, it uses agents such as SAPCCMSR for JAVA Stacks and SAPCCM4X for ABAP stacks.
    3. You can also configure availability monitoring using th same guide as above - this uses the CCMSPING tool.
    4. You can monitor your business processes using the BPM/BPMon features of solution manager - you will also get this guide in http://service.sap.com/solutionmanager.
    5. You can scheule your earlywatch alerts (EWAs) in solution manager system - have a look at the following link for this:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/e0f35bf3-14a3-2910-abb8-89a7a294cedb
    6. You can also have DBACOCKPIT on your Solution Manager system and have it tomonitor backups, etc on your satellite systems. For thsi have a look at SAP notes 1028624, 1025707 and 1027146 (and the DBACOKPIT guide in SAP Note 1028624).
Hope this is helpful. Kindly award points if useful.
    Thanks, Dibya

  • How to make Solution Manager 7.0??

    Hi Experts,
I am totally new to Solution Manager.I have installed it & when it I am checking
    System->status->component version--->Solution Manager 4.0
    ST Stack is - 15.
How to make Solution Manager 7.0?Which Support pack level I need to apply to make it Solution Manager 7.0?
For EWA,MOPZ Configuration what should be the minimum stack level of ST??

    Hello N.Das
Solman 7.0 IS Solman 4.0 . I mean only the name has been changed so it goes with version of Netweaver; nothing more than that. So you have Solman 7.0. right now !
concerning the minimum SP Level for functionalities EWA and MOPZ. There is no correct answer. In your current Level you already have both; but ( and that is especially the case for MOPZ) new features have been added since ST15.
Current latest Solman version is EHP1 ST23.
Depending on what functionalities you re interested in MOPZ you will be able to choose the minimum level required.
If i were you I would go for the last one, especially because it contains new bug fixes and valuable enhancement for MOPZ
On this link you can check what is in what version of Solman: https://websmp206.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=00200797470000089906&

In a two system landscape is it necessary to make development the domain controller always?
No such compulsion as such exist(correct me if wrong),however why you want to make production your domain controller?
    This is not recommended.

  • Configuring Solution Manager: Alternative Role to SAP_ALL

This is a general question regarding configuring Solution Manager and note 834534.  I am configuring Solution Manager 7.0 at a client site.  The main components that I am configuring are on the Monitoring and Operations side; for example, System Monitoring,  Service Desk, Issue Management, and Change Management for Maintenance Optimizer.  CHaRM will follow later on.  Additionally, the client would like to use the project side of Solution Manager.
When I took training for Solution Manager from SAP, the SAP instructor advised the class to have SAP_ALL when configuring Solution Manager  The problem I am having is that the client will not issue me SAP_ALL in the Solution Manager instance, regardless of the recommendation in note 834534.  I can understand the client's reluctance to issue SAP_ALL, even though Solution Manager is not a financial system in of itself, however, I have found that I am constantly having to ask for authorizations as I step through the wizards and the Scenario-specific settings.  When I run into issues which require further investigation by running transactions to check certain settings that are not specifically tiedd to a wizard or scenario-specific setting transaction, I run into further delays as I ask for additional authorizations to troubleshoot issues.
We have implemented the roles and assigned them to my ID in Solution Manager as outlined by the SAP Solution Manager Security Guide to the fullest extent possible; and I have been issued "Basis Roles" that the client issues to their Basis team.  Regardless of these actions, I still run into authorization issues.
My question is, apart from the SAP Solution Manager Security Guides recommendations (which does not mention SAP_ALL), is there a role being developed, or has been developed that can be assigned to the Solution Manager configurator in lieu of SAP_ALL (as per note 834534)?  I would think that this issue has been raised before, particularly since many companies have implemented SOX controls and are skittish about issuing SAP_ALL.
    Your feedback is most appreciated.

    Thanks for the reply, Nesimi.
While I appreciate that you do not use SAP_ALL, is that the case when you are configuring a brand new, clean system?  Are you using the Configuration Wizards with out SAP_ALL? I ask this because when I ran the first configuration wizard, one of the steps is to create a "configuration user", which creates a user with SAP_ALL. However, I cannot use that wizard generated user ID because it has the role SAP_ALL.
In general, I am operating on 3 sources of information that says I need SAP_ALL to configure the system (not necessarily to operate it):
    1.  An SAP Instructor for the Solution Manager Operations and Monitoring Class
    2.  The IMG Activity "Create Configuration User" documenation in SPRO
    3.  Note 834534
I will review the english version of the link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_smehp1/helpdata/de/40/8ac473d40943ddb23def12bdb33437/frameset.htm that you have thoughtfully provided.
With respect to note 123640, I am not sure if that solves my problem or answers the fundemental question that I have in that given the 3 sources I quoted above.  It seems to me that SAP's approach in indicating clearly that they prefer that the configuration user should have SAP_ALL is flawed given today's corporate governence policies.  Clearly this recommendation is only for the initial configuration, and SAP_ALL can be taken away and replaced by the roles and recommendations in the SolMan security guide; to maintain Solution Manager.  But when it comes down to the question "what do you need to configure Solution Manager, because we won't give you SAP_ALL", I am hard pressed to give an answer despite literally spending hundreds of hours researching "documenation" which does not give clear cut answers.  I think SAP needs to address this issue instead of taking the easy way out and saying you need "SAP_ALL" as illustrated in the 3 sources of readily available information cited above.

  • How to configure multiple listeners to listen for the same instance.

    Hello everyone,
I am running oracle database 11g and I want information regarding how to configure multiple listeners to listen for the same database instance. Actually I know how to configure more than one listener but the main thing that I am confused about is when we create listener.ora file, do we have to statically register the database instance with both the listeners or the instance will register itself with both the listeners.
According to my knowledge the instance will register with the listener specified by LOCAL_LISTENER parameter and we cannot have more than one value for this parameter.
Please only give detailed answers with example as I am tired of simple answers with details that I already know.

    Hello,
Yes, it can make sense to have several listener for one Oracle instance. For instance you may have one listener for the applications another listener for DBA administration tasks as well as one listener dedicated to dataguard broker. It is not possible to have several listeners listening on the same IP and Port.
By default the database try to automatically register to a listener on port 1521. To instruct the instance to register to a specifc list of listeners you can add in the init.ora the local_listener parameter with an alias definition:
    i.e
    local_listener=MY_SET_OFF_LISTENERS
in your tnsname.ora add an entry called:
    MY_SET_OFF_LISTENERS_LOCAL= (ADDRESS_LIST=
    (ADRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=myhostname)(PORT=1530))
    (ADRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=myhostname)(PORT=1531))
    (ADRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=myhostname)(PORT=1532))
In this sample your instance will register to three listeners listening on respectively port 1530, 1531 and 1532
If you want your clients can be balanced over the 3 listeners

  • How to configure the runtime and consolidation for a track in CMS.

How to configure the runtime and consolidation for a track in CMS.
I can see the track exists in CMS but the same doesnt pull up in the NWDS in the development configuration perspective.
I compared the given track with the one which gets pulled up in NWDS. Theres something called runtime system and consolidation which isnt defined for the track which is invisible.
Please advise , what are these required for. And how can we configure the same.

The runtime systems are defined for a track to setup the Transport path for any code changes....the Consolidation system is usually defined as a Virtual system for the track and used for comparison and fixing any broken or Dirty DC's ....that means it's not used as a Runtime System for Deployment as compared to DEV,QAT and PROD used for Deployment...
    Hope it helps..
