How to purge Alert Notifications from WF_NOTIFICATION_OUT?
Hi All,
I've tried the steps mentioned in metalink note 372933.1 but I've noticed that it only purges Workflow Notification data and not Alert Notification data.
How can I purge the Alert Notifications as well?
Thanks,

HusseinHi Hussein,
I checked the note but I don't think it is what I'm looking for.
I want to purge notifications in the workflow that were created by alerts in Oracle. Based on what I've researched, these notifications can be found in the WF_NOTIFICATION_OUT with CORRID of 'APP:ALR%'. I'm looking for a way so that these notifications don't get send when I turn on the Mailer because currently there are around 17000 records in it and I'm worried that if I turn it on, all these notifications will go to my inbox.
Thanks,

How to create a notification mailer that handles only some of Item Types
Hi All,
we are currently try to create another notification mailer to handle ONLY some of the workflows.
I have been browsing the internet (oracle site and none) as well as looking for an answer here but I was unable to find a solution/detailed documentation.
The only reference I was able to find is in the Oracle Workflow Admin's Guide where it's written "you can create a notification mailer that processes only messages that belong to a particular workflow item type" but it does not explain how.
Can anyone help me?
Thank You, Pier Paolo. You may use Correlation ID parameter of the mailer to specify the Itemtype that your mailer should process. This information should be available in the Workflow Admin Guide or Oracle Apps Admin Guide.

K.D. ChenIf you have not received an email for "Send Test E-mail", then you have not configured SQL database mail property.
I would suggest to solve this issue. Following the configuration steps as mentioned here. These references shall

Set up the IMAP4 compilance unique inbound email with INBOX, PROCESS and DISCARD folders
Configure the inbound email from OTM
Ignore the outbound email configuratiion from OTM becasue it is already working. It is set with SMTP
Check the inbound and outbound connection from ebs server
If you can not ping the IMAP server or telnet the SMTP server from ebs server. Make sure firewall/ports are open
Add inbound and outbound server entry in server host file
Apply the patch 16328729 for iPad compatibility
Test it
What would be the over all impact of this change. will the users still able to approve the notification using the attachment or this will change.Pleas see the following links/docs.

SQLScript or Shell Script to Determine if Notification Mailer has gone down
Does anyone have a SQLScript or UNIX command which determines if the Workflow Notification mailers have unexpectedly died?
It looks like the GSM Service Components can be running/stopped independent of the concurrent manager queues that normally start/stop them from Administer Managers or start_all/stop_all in OAM Generic Services. You could simply monitor fnd_svc_components, or use any of the SQLs below. If you search Metalink for FND_SVC_COMPONENTS, you will find a few articles that describe monitoring techniques.

Notification mail according to triggerring event in workflow
Hi All,
am doing customer master workflow using KNA1 Business object, it has event CREATE and CHANGE.
whenever event CREATE is triggering workflow, i want to send notification mail with title 'CUSTOMER 999 CREATED'.
whenever event CHANGE is triggering workflow, i want to send notification mail with title ' CUSTOMER 999 CHANGED'.
Could you please advise, how can i handle notification mail according to triggering event.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Balamurugan. You can either trigger a 1 step workflow that has a send mail step. The triggering event of the Workflow should be CREATE and CHANGE event of BO KNA1. You have to activate the linkage between event and workflow in PFTC. You have to maintain some entries in SWE2.
After you have done this check your development from Tcode SWEL.
Thanks

Hi,
Custom Notification mailer was defined and so far its running well. Just compared with the other instance...in other instance were 'Workflow Notification Mailer' is running it sends notification when ever a indent is raised. But in the instance where 'Custom Notification mailer' is configured it does send any notifications...
any idea?
thanks,
baskar.lPl indicate why a custom mailer is being used. Pl see MOS Doc 786647.1 (How To Configure Workflow Notification Mailer To Send Email Notification For Only One Workflow Item type/Process.?) on how to create a custom mailer. We used to have a a very basic custom mailer that was successful in sending notifications, but have since gone back to using the default seeded mailer.

Can I Stop Notification Mailer from Responding to Bad Emails?
Is there any way I can stop the Workflow Notification Mailer from responding to emails that he is unable to process? Sometimes emails may get sent out to email addresses that are no longer valid or no longer exists. Maybe the person left the company, the address was put in wrong, etc. This causes a situation here that is getting the system administrators rather annoyed. What's happening is this:
1. Notification Mailer sends an email to an email address.
2. That email address is invalid or doesn't exist so a return message is sent back to the mailer indicating this.
3. The Mailer doesn't know how to process this so he sends a message back to the UNIX mailer-daemon.
4. Any message to mailer-daemon really goes to root.
5. Any message to root, since this is a production system, gets forwarded to the sysadmins which fills up their mailbox with these emails!
Has anyone else experienced this and do you know of a way around it?
thanks...Yes, you can use the tag file for the Notification Mailer to specify how your mail system identifies bounced, undeliverable,
or otherwise invalid messages and how you want the Notification Mailer to handle those messages. For example, you can
have the Mailer discard the invalid message and continue waiting for a valid response, or initiate an error process. The tag file
lists strings of text found in unusual messages and the status you want to assign to a message response if it contains any
of those strings. Use the TAGFILE configuration parameter for the Mailer to specify the location of the tag file.
For more details, see the Oracle Workflow Guide:
http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/oracle9i/doc_library/release2/workflow.920/a95265/instal40.htm#index-Tag-files---0

How to configure ML Server to send Alert Notifications by mail?
Is it possible to configure Mountain Lion Server to send out Alert notification by e-mail without enabling full Mail services?
I don't want to run the Mail service on the Server. I'm quite happy with my ISP's mail service. Besides, I have a dynamic public IP address, hence no rDNS entry (so I couldn't run Mail if I wanted to). And I don't have the expertise to configure and maintain the Mail service. But I would like to get the Server to send me any important alert notifications by e-mail.
I have access to an authenticated SMTP server I can use to relay the outbound alert notification emails. But I don't know how to coerce the alert service into using it. Is it possible to do so, or does one need the full-blown Mail service to be configured (with both dovecot and postfix running) in order to get Alerts to be e-mailed?
Thanks for any help.@MrHoffman,
Thanks for the pointers and suggestions.
The config for my ISP's SMTP server is correct. I specified the port (:465), and double-checked userid/password. It's the same as used by all our e-mail clients (a half-dozen or so on various Macs, iPhones, iPads, Linux boxes), all of which work fine from my LAN.
As for DNS, it seems OK. (I am indebted to you for the excellent series of articles on servers and networking at http://labs.hoffmanlabs.com/node/1705 )
The changeip command reports:
The names match. There is nothing to change.
dirserv:success = "success"
However, I should point out that I do not have the DNS service enabled on ML Server. I already have a local DNS running on my gateway router. (it's an instance of the dnsmasq process that is part of Tomato firmware). It has local names defined for all the servers and hosts on my LAN, and provides rDNS for them as well.
However, what I haven't done is enabled the Mail service. You've (slightly) misunderstood the core of my plan. My intent is not simply to secure the local mail server against remote access. I don't want either remote or local users from accessing the mail server. I don't want it listening for POP or IMAP connections from anywhere (on my LAN or remotely). I don't want it receiving inbound mail from anywhere. I don't want it relaying outbound mail for any client on my LAN. All I want the ML Server to be able to do is to send me alerts (by e-mail) when it's in need of attention. Other appliances on my LAN (eg. a NetgearReadyNAS) can send me e-mails when they are unhappy, and I hope I can coerce the ML Server to do the same.
I know I don't have the expertise to operate and maintain my own mail server, and I'm quite happy with the mail service provided by my existing network service provider. Plus, I'm behind a cable modem with a dynamic IP address, so I'm unable to establish my own rDNS record (which I understand is required to handle inbound mail).
It looks like the next step is to turn on the Mail service. But I'm sure it's going to be unhappy since there's no MX record set-up. I was hoping there was a way that ML Server could simply send out its own outbound alerts (using my ISP's SMTP relay) without having the incoming part of the mail service active. But perhaps Apple didn't anticipate that sort of configuration. -
I am using the standard iPad mail, I am receiving 3 alert notification banners for each of my VIP emails. How do I fix so only receive 1 alert for each new VIP email?
iCloud will only sync devices on the same account. There is no way around having to purchase more storage, unfortunately for you.
