How to connect 3 endpoints to 1 reserved row
Is it possible to set up a route group in MAX that connects 3 endpoints to a single row of a 4x128 matrix card that has been reserved for routing?
I need to have all four rows set as reserved for routing so I can set all my other route groups up by specifing endpoints.
Thanks,
Jason

Hi Jason,
I'm assuming that you're using NI-Switch 2.3. To my knowledge, NI Switch Executive was only released with the following versions: 2.0, 2.0.1, 2.1, 2.1.1, 3.0.
The option you listed is not your only option, but it is the option that I recommend for prior versions of NI Switch Executive. Remember that you can use Route Groups to store the separate row to column connections so that only one connect call is required.
An additional option you have is to use two NI Switch Executive Virtual Devices. One Virtual Device has the PXI-2532 rows reserved for routing and the other Virtual Device doesn't. Each time you want to connect multiple columns to the same row, you could close the session to the "reserved for routing" Virtual Device and open a session to the other Virtual Device (where you connect multiple column endpoints to the same row). Note that you cannot have sessions open to both Virtual Devices at the same time because they would attempt to share the same hardware.
Is upgrading to NI Switch Executive 3.0 a possibility? There are two additional features you would enjoy:
Intuitive Graphical Configuration Utility
Graphical point-and-click configuration environment - enables rapid development of switch systems
Edit Channel Aliases in place
Build complex routing groups by clicking on matrix crosspoints one at-a-time
Microsoft Excel Import/Export
Easily export NI Switch Executive configuration into Microsoft Excel environment
Increase channel count through simple text manipulation
Easily import newly edited files back into NI Switch Executive
It would be great if upgrading were an option. Let me know if you have further questions!

How to connect multiple endpoints into one straight one line
Hello everybody,
I made a sihlouette of buildings and I"m wanting to connect the bottom open endpoints into one straight line. The reason I'm doing this is because I want to add a fill to the sihlouette as a whole instead of doing them one by one.
I tried joining paths but it can only be two open endpoints at a time. As you can see with the picture below, I have many open endpoints.
The pen tool only joins two open endpoints. If I try to continue to try to add another endpoint to the same line, the pen tool becomes a "minus anchor point" tool and messes up the shape of the buildings.
Of course, I thought of just making each building seperate and grouping them together. However, if I do that, a issue occurs because I have certain buildings that are "in front" of each other (not in the sense of layers, but the image as a whole). I purposely made the sihlouette look like some buildlings are in front of each other and some are behind each other.
I hope I am making sense. I don't even know if what I am doing is possible.
I added a picture below so everybody can see what I am trying to achieve. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thank you all for being very helpful. As you can see, I have much to learn.
@Jonika
I have tried the pathfinder but the images become messed up and not exactly the way I want it.
@jacobbugge
I did and this is what happens.
I tried to do that in the first place but it wasn't working so I'm stuck trying to figure out a different way.
To everybody else:
What I eventually want to do is to do a clipping mask so I can use a picture that will show up on the inside of the buildings. And if I do it the way it is right now, it won't necesarily fill in all of the buildings. If you see the picture above, it cuts off the areas that have no endpoints to the other side.
The buildings that have two points on the bottom, I am able to fill without connecting the endpoints. That is true. However, for example, the far left and the far right buildings, do not fill correctly because they do not have an endpoint that is right next to it that it can connect to. This is getting difficult to describe haha.
The front buildings are no problem. However, the buildings "behind" the other buildings, how can I get these to fill in all the way? -
Oracle 10g on Windows - How to connect?
May be this is a small one, I dont know how to connect to sql in windows.
I installed oracle 10g on Windows XP SP3, choosing basic Installation.
Successfully Installed.
In Linux we use sqlplus '/as sysdba' to connect and we get sql> prompt.
In windows how to connect or get SQL> prompt?You can remove the quotes. Like Unix, this only works by default if you are connected as operating system user owner of Oracle Database software installation.
C:\>sqlplus / as sysdba

Hi All,
How to connect the Oracle database using C/C++ on Mac OS X? I have used Instant Client library "instantclient-basic-macosx-10.1.0.3" provided by the Oracle but could not be success. I'm using PowerPC G4, Mac OS X 10.4.9, and XCode version 2.4.1.
Specially Mr Oscar Armanini has done this in C on Mac OS X. Please let me know. I would be very thankful to you.
Thanks,
GhufranHi Ghufran
there are two Metalink Notes on using Instant Client with PowerPc Mac:

How to Install, Configure and Test Oracle 10g Instant Client Basic,
SQL*Plus and SDK Packages for Mac OS X
(Runs OCCI sample code - occidml.cpp)
The first Metalink Note uses an OCI examples and it is pasted here below,
in case you don't have a Metalink ID.
The second Metalink Note uses an OCCI example.
I have never used Instant Client (neither on Os X or on other platform),
but I was successful on compiling C programs (no GUI involved) using the
Full Client installed on my PowerBook G4.
I'm a DBA, but I was a developer years ago (about when Oracle 7.3
was considered a giant step forward): I installed the Oracle 10.1 db
(a complicated job for a developer) and I got the Full Client
installed as well, for free, so I was happy to compile one of the demo C sources
(those that you can find in the Oracle Pro*C manuals:
by the way, Oracle Pro*C manuals are really worth reading).
Good luck

Goal
This article will show you how to install and configure your 10g Instant Client (IC) Software for the Mac.
It will install the following packages:
the Basic package
the SQL*Plus package and
the SDK package
and then test its connectivity to an Oracle database using SQL*Plus.
It will also show you how to setup and test a sample program, cdemo81.c, that uses the Oracle Call Interface (OCI)
to connect to the database.
The sample program is located under the <Instant_Client>/sdk/demo directory.
Solution1. Download the following three (3) files from the Oracle Technology Network (OTN) website.
You will need an account to do this.
Macintosh OS X 10g Instant Client Software
a. instantclient-basic-macosx-10.1.0.3.zip (32,395,622 bytes)
b. instantclient-sqlplus-macosx-10.1.0.3.zip (326,740 bytes)
c. instantclient-sdk-macosx-10.1.0.3.zip (293,913 bytes)
NOTE: The above three (3) files will be updated as new patches are released for the 10g Instant Client software. 10.1.0.3 or later versions (10.1.0.x) of these files may be used similarly with this article.
2. Save the following text into a file called tnsnames.ora:
# If you receive an
# ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
# error when running the setup script and attempting to connect to Oracle
# from SQL*Plus then the name of your SERVICE NAME (i.e. ORCL) may require
# that you include the DOMAIN (i.e. US.ORACLE.COM) in order to connect successfully.
# To obtain the DOMAIN of your environment, type "hostname" from your shell
# and it should report this information back to you. Configure your SERVICE
# NAME to look like Example 2.
# Example 1
ORCL =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = database_machine.us.oracle.com)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVER = DEDICATED)
(SID = orcl)
# Example 2
#ORCL.US.ORACLE.COM =
# (DESCRIPTION =
# (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = database_machine.us.oracle.com)(PORT = 1521))
# (CONNECT_DATA =
# (SERVER = DEDICATED)
# (SID = orcl)
3. Save the following text into a file called sqlplus_script.sql:
SELECT user FROM dual;
SELECT sysdate FROM dual;
SELECT 'successful ' AS TEST_RESULTS FROM dual;
exit;
4. Save the following text into a file called setup1:

# MAC OS X INSTANT CLIENT 10g SCRIPT - SETUP2
# ===========================================
# DESCRIPTION
# ===========
# This script will build and run the OCI sample application CDEMO81.C inside
# your Instant Client (IC) software located under the <IC>/sdk/demo folder.
# NOTE: In order for this script to run successfully
# (A) you MUST have already run the script SETUP1 successfully
# and
# (B) you MUST perform any necessary actions required under the SETUP
# section below.
# SETUP
# =====
# (1) You need to edit the CDEMO81.C application PRIOR to running this script to
# change the connection information. By default, the application will attempt
# to connect as user SCOTT with password TIGER to a local Oracle database using
# the BEQ-LOCAL network protocol. This will not work.
# (A) You need to make sure you have the SCOTT/TIGER schema created in your database.
# If not, have your DBA create it by running the script "SCOTT.SQL" from your
# <ORACLE_HOME>/rdbms/admin folder.
# (B) You need to modify the CDEMO81.C application to connect to the database
# you have configured inside your TNSNAMES.ORA file.
# (i) Open the CDEMO81.C file located under the <IC>/sdk/demo folder.
# (ii) Find the following line of code:
# (void) OCIServerAttach( srvhp, errhp, (text *)"", strlen(""), 0);
# and change the two empty strings to the SERVICE NAME you are using like so
# (void) OCIServerAttach( srvhp, errhp, (text *)"ORCL", strlen("ORCL"), 0);
# (iii) Save the file.
# (2) You MUST be in the initial directory where you copied all of the files listed
# in script SETUP1. In this same location you will find SETUP2. Run SETUP2 from
# this location.
# (3) To run this script use the command: ". setup2"
# BEGINNING OF SCRIPT

6. Take all seven (7) files and move them into the same directory on your OS where you want to install the Instant Client software from:
1 - instantclient-basic-macosx-10.1.0.3.zip
2 - instantclient-sqlplus-macosx-10.1.0.3.zip
3 - instantclient-sdk-macosx-10.1.0.3.zip
4 - tnsnames.ora
5 - sqlplus_script.sql
6 - setup1
7 - setup2
7. Open the file tnsnames.ora. Be sure to review the comments in this file. You will have to change the following information to connect to a database on your network:
SERVICE NAME (orcl or orcl.us.oracle.com)
HOST (database_machine.us.oracle.com)
PORT (1521)
SID (orcl)
Save the file.
8. Open the file setup1, go to the end of this script and modify the following line:
./instantclient10_1/sqlplus scott/tiger@orcl @sqlplus_script.sql
Replace orcl with the SERVICE NAME you used in Step 7 above. Save the file.
9. You are now ready to install the 10g Instant Client software for Mac OS X. From the location where your seven (7) files reside, issue the following command:
[macosx]/oracle> . setup1
NOTE: Be sure to include the period "." and a space " " before the word "setup1" so all environment variables persist for the current session.
This will install the Instant Client Basic and SQL*Plus software and connect to the database specified in the tnsnames.ora file.
10. Here is the sample output of a successful execution of the setup1 script:
[macosx]/oracle> . setup1
MAC OS X INSTANT CLIENT 10g SCRIPT - SETUP1

11. Once you have obtained a successful execution of the setup1 script, you are ready to configure cdemo81.c to connect to the database you have configured inside your tnsnames.ora file.
Open the cdemo81.c file located under the <Instant_Client>/sdk/demo folder. Find the following line of code:
(void) OCIServerAttach( srvhp, errhp, (text *)"", strlen(""), 0);
Change the two (2) empty strings to the SERVICE NAME you used in Step 7 above.
(void) OCIServerAttach( srvhp, errhp, (text *)"ORCL", strlen("ORCL"), 0);
Save the file.
12. You are now ready to run cdemo81.c. You MUST issue the following command from the initial directory where you copied all of the files in Step 6:
[macosx]/oracle> . setup2
NOTE: Be sure to include the period "." and a space " " before the word "setup2" so all environment variables persist for the current session.
This script will configure your environment, build and run the OCI sample code connecting to the database specified in the tnsnames.ora file.

How to connect my friends apple notebook through video call
HOW TO CONNECT TO A FRIEND WHO IS USING APPLE NOTEBOOK FROM MY IMAC SUGGEST ME WAITING FOR A SOLUTION FROM APPLE TEAM SUPPORT
Hi,
Typing in all upper case is regarded and shouting here.
Presumably as you have posted in the OS X 10.7.x (Lion) area you are running this version of the OS on your iMac.
This will have iChat 6 on it.
This can use AIM, Jabber and Yahoo IDs within the app.
Apple IDS ending in @mac.com and iCloud issued @me.com and @icloud.com are also Valid AIM Screen Names.
If you use Googlemail and Enable "talk" in the products there you can then use your Google Mail ID as a Jabber ID (although it has it's own Add Account option in iChat)
Facebook has an option to Enable "Chat" which will give you a Chat ID variant on your name there and this can be used in iChat (or Messages) as a Jabber ID.
The Yahoo Account will only do Text chats.
It also has to be an actual ID registered at Yahoo.
Chats are then AIM to AIM or Jabber to Jabber or Yahoo to Yahoo.
So your Buddy will also need a suitable ID or Screen Name for the relevant service.

how to connect sound to my tv set using hdmi adapter. Im using 2009 macbook pro 13". I went to sound settings then output and it shows internal speaker built- in, it wont locate my tv set. pls. help, thanks
You probably can't because it looks like your MacBook Pro is too old to carry audio over HDMI. You will need to run a separate audio cable from the audio out port on the MacBook Pro to the audio in port on the TV.
Check your MacBook Pro model year against the list in this Apple tech note:
About Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapters
Learn about the Mini DisplayPort in the latest Mac models that enables audio and video output for DisplayPort and HDMI. -
I need to know how to connect my macbook to the tv
I ordered the mini dvi adapter for my macbook 13in and obviously it connects to the computer but i have no idea how it connects to the tv. Where does it go? and do i need something else to help connect it to the tv? I am really confused please help.
Yep, Apple makes adaptors to go from the mini DVI on the macbook to almost any type of input that you TV will have. First check the back of your tube to find out what kind of input it has, and order the appropriate adaptor.

How to connect a Sony Bravia TV to the internet through your Airport network
Since it took me a lot of time to figure out how to connect my Sony Bravia TV to the internet through my Airport network, I better share how to do it. Hopefully saving others a lot of time.
My 32EX600 Sony Bravia TV is Ethernet connected to my Mac Mini, which is part of my Airport network, together with another Mac, an Airport Extreme Base Station and an ADSL modem/router. Moreover, the Mac Mini is connected to the TV by HDMI.
Whatever I tried in the TV’s Wired Network Set-up (Auto, or Manual with manual IP, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS IPs), I couldn’t get it right. Cable Connection and Local Access were mostly OK, Internet Access always Failed.
The solution lies in the Sharing panel of the System Preferences of the Mac Mini. In the Internet Sharing item of that panel, you should choose to “share your internet connection from WiFi to computers (the TV in this case) using Ethernet“, and NOT (as I had chosen before and seemed so obvious) “share your internet connection from Airport to computers using Ethernet“. After that change, the Bravia Network Set-up, using the Wired and Auto options, flawlessly connected to the internet. No expensive (Sony) WiFi USB dongle needed.I have now had a detailed reply from Sony Europe and the way to do this is to:
1. Press Home on the TV Setup
2. Use the right and left arrow to select Setting.
3. Use the up and down to select Network, press Enter.
4. Select Network Setup.
5. Select Wireless setup.
6. Select Scan
7. Select your network
8. A new screen will appear asking for entering the security key.
9. Enter your WPA2 key.
10. Select Enter.
11. It will take you back to the same screen asking for entering the
security key.
12. Press the right arrow.
13. Select Auto.
14. Press the right arrow.
15. Select Save and connect.
These instructions are not the same as shown on the TV but they worked fine for me so they may help others with a similar problem. -
How to connect my Mac book Pro to a TV
How to connect my MacBook Pro to the TV using HDTV cable
I am assuming your TV has HDMI connector.
In that case, if your MacBook is the retina-one, you have HDMI connector there too. All you need is HDMI cable to connect teh two.
If your MacBook has thunderbolt port instead, you need Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and HDMI cable.
Hope this makes sense. -
How to connect old aiport express to my new Airport Extreme?
I have a PC running with Win7 and just replaced my Jensen With a brand New Airport Extreme.
I have set up the Airport Extreme to the internet, Iphones and Ipads and it work as it should.
I have downloaded latest Version of Airport tool on my PC. In addition i have downloaded the airport tool for Ipad.
I have reset one of my airport Express and it now shows up both on the Ipad and on the PC airport tool.
My Ipad says "base station e5713b cannot be configured."
I have wired the airport Express to my Ethernet to be able to "see it" on my Airport tool.
My AirPort tool on the PC will not permit me to add the airport Express to my new Airport Extreme network (no network names on the drop-down list to choose from). I wished for an easy set-up, but nothing seems to be plug and play as the Commercial says.. can you please help me?
SigveHi
Thanks for Swift reply.
Yep - I in fact have two A1088 and one A1264
I actually bought the new router because the Jensen
router always lost connection to the Airport Express after some hours or days. I
always needed to restart my Jensen to play music and that was driving my wife
mad. The hope was that the Extreme should fix this. Both A1088 have been set up
to only stream music to two of my stereo amplifiers from my PC’s Itunes library.
Are the A1088 now useless?
The A1264 has been set up to feed internet into a Denon Reciever that needed Ethernet cable.
Please advise
Regards
Sigve -
How to connect my iPhone and iPad to Apple TV
How to connect my iPhone and iPad to Apple TV
Connect the iPad and Apple TV to the same WiFi network. Double Tab the home button on the iPad and then swipe your recently used apps from left to right until you see the mirroring icon which looks like a retangle with an up arrow. Tab that icon until you see the Apple TV. Tab Apple TV and slide the slider to the ON position. You should now see your iPad screen on the TV the Apple TV is connected to.

How to connect my perfectly-working 20-year-old Apple Personal Laserwriter 320 to my iMac running Mountain Lion?
Thank you, Morty S.I have a perfectly-working LW 4/600 with exactly the same issue. They use localtalk - a long obsolete network connection, that doesn't connect to modern networks, and appletalk as the comm protocol.
I think the only choice you have is to use an old powerPC Mac as print server. You tell me which old Mac you have, with a localtalk connector, or that runs OS X 10.4 or earlier (so it speaks appletalk), and I'll tell you how I've done it for the past 11 years or so.
Right now I use a G4 running 10.4.11, plus an etherMac ethernet to localtalk adapter.
Before, I used a PMac 6100 running LPD server software.
