    Hello,
It would be helpful to know what camera you are trying to connect and what exactly you are trying to do with it.
In regards to firewire vs usb i only really have experience with firewire so i can not help you there unfortunatetly.
If you are just trying to get the video footage off the camera you could try and open up iMovie from within you applications folder. Attached the camera, my iMac is currently in for repairs so i can quite tell you the whole thing but look for options of attached cameras.
The reason why the cd doesnt autorun is that it is probably window software, does the disk specifically state Mac OS X?. If you double click on the cd it should open up in a window. Have a look around for any Mac folders or any obvious applications that you can run.

How to connect to Digital Camera using JMF?
    Any example?
    thx

If the DC has a mode that works like a web cam, and can generate either a VFW or DirecShow stream, then you could capture a frame of the stream, yes.

  • How to connect a DV camera through the IEEE 1394 port on my A50?

    Hi
I have been trying to connect a video camera to my notebook SA50-109 throught the IEEE 1394 port.. but the notebook didn't recognize the camera at all..
although the camera shows 'DV-in' when i plug the cable witch is (4-pin to 4-pin) DV cable..
is there any thing I need to do before to make it work?
    any ideas.. please?

Hi there. Your PC should recognize automatically the DV camera. It's OK to have the firewire (1394) connection shown under "network connections". Next to mine it says "connected" although the harddisk connected to it is switched off. Maybe there is something wrong with the cable? Or, another suggestion, try to restart the laptop while the camera is connected ... Not many further suggestions I'm afraid ... Good luck!

  • How to connect a video camera (not a webcam) in a way that Flash player sees it as webcam

    Dear All,
I'm working on an interactive/augmented reality project for an exhibition, where viewers trigger a video by standing at a certain point in a room (just like BBC's Frozen Planet). My problem is that the webcam's image that we've used to capture the audience is not up to the task and produces a really low quality image. Now I'm trying to to attach a video camera with Blackmagic's Mini Recorder but Flash Player 17 (standalone) doesn't recognise the the input as a webcam. Is there a way to connect an external camera so flash can handle it? Alternatively, can anyone recommend a superb webcam, that is SIGNIFICANTLY better than Logitech's Pro 910? Thanks in advance!

We just get a list of webcams from the browser (who gets them from the OS).  If you could convince the OS that the camera is a webcam, you'd be good, but that probably means writing your own drivers.
Alternatively, could you use something like Flash Media Server with the camera attached as a live video source, then stream a high-res video back to the client for processing?

  • How to Connect iBook with HDTV for iMovie?

How can I connect my iBook G4, which has iMovie 7, to an HDTV (or its VCR) in order to download the HDTV's digital file, for iMovie? I do this now for an analog signal TV using analog to digital converter between my iBook and an analog TV VCR. Will appreciate comments. Chuck Y. Chicago. 28 November 2008.

12/9/2008. My own answer follows. I phoned Apple Tech Support and they did not know. I phoned Computer Discount Warehouse Tech Support where I bought my iBook and they did not know. I phoned the Apple Store and they did not know, but said it would take a cord with the three--red, white, yellow--plugs for the TV set into a firewire plug for the iBook. I phoned Radio Shack and they did not know nor have such a cord. I phoned MacMall and they did not know. Finally I phoned Canopus who makes the converter to use between an analogue TV and my iBook, and they said that the converter would also accept the digital to digital signal from the TV VCR (after mid February 2009 TV change to digital) to my iBook. Best wishes. C. Yopst, Chicago

  • How to connect Sony HDR Cx100E on imovie using USB

Hi, I am not able to connect my SONY HDR Cx100E on imovie using USB, at the same time I can connect the same to aperture and iphoto. Can any one help me please?
if you can give me the step by step info will be a great help for me.
    thanks in advance

Can't connect the camera directly to that monitor. It only has the ADC connection. What you'd have to do is capture the footage and use the Digital Cinema Desktop to view the footage.
Can't you monitor what you have on the cameras LCD, or the Capture window?

  • How to connect Zi6 HD camera to mac mini for video in?

I am wondering what is the best way to connect my Koday Zi6 HD camera to my mini so that I can grab video directly from the camera. The camera has HD and AV mini jacks. It also has a built in flip out usb socket, like the flip camera, but this I believe is only used for uploading video files.
I have had a look around the cables section of the Apple store but nothing leapt off the shelf!
    Any ideas?

Is there such a thing as a USB to AV phono adapter?
Not as a simple cable, no. You would need a device to convert the AV stream. Personally I use an old(ish) Sony camcorder for this task, but there are other solutions. You might have a look at Eye TV products (http://www.elgato.com/elgato/na/mainmenu/home.en.html) for example.
If not I guess I'll need to buy that iMac a little earlier than I had planned.
An iMac won't offer you any more options for this than a mini - neither have the means to accept AV input via composite, component etc.

  • I'd like to know how to get videos from Camera to imovie

I'm a new Mac user who has a video movies that I want to import into imovie project.
I've also purchased a fire wire, to facilitate the process. So far not successful. Help
    Thanks in advance.

What format are your movies? iMovie can import directly from your camera or camcorder, import from your iPhoto or Aperture Library or can import video files from the Finder, see:
    iMovie '11: Import video
What you cannot import are purchased videos protected by digital right management or video DVDs.
Here is tutorial video on importing into iMovie:  http://help.apple.com/imovie/movies/en/apple-ilife-imovie-tutorials_import_video -us-20101020_640x360.mov

  • How to connect a firewire camera (XL1) to a MBP w/ no firewire port?

I need to connect my Canon XL1 to my MBP (which doesn't have FW, not even i-link!).  I  refuse to buy a Tbolt-FW adapter (unless it is not made by Apple). I spent a forture on this  notebook + I already had to buy a Tbolt-Ethernet adapter (no ethernet port either) + an external  DVD drive (no superdrive). This is getting ridiculous.
I found plenty of very cheap USB-FW adapters on Amazon, but none of them worked for anyone. If you know of one that does work, could you please let me know where I might find it?
I looked for HDMI-FW and HDMI-Ethernet adapters but found nothing.  I just started looking for a FW-iPod connector but haven't found anything yet.
I have a Dazzle analog to digital video converter it's going to degrade the picture quality.
All my older Macs would have worked if they weren't all down.  I have an old Sony VAIO which has i-link and ethernet. It looks like my only option at the moment. Pretty dissapointing to say the least.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem?  Thank you.

I understand your objection, since I am keeping my non-Retina MacBook Pro with the built-in FireWire and Gigabit Ethernet ports for as long as I can, but the Apple adapter looks like the only real solution right now (other than the Vaio) if the old Macs are still down. It is not clear if there are any non-Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire adapters out there that are available and if so, are reliable.
While I am annoyed with Apple taking these ports off the new Macs (especially the GigE), I also believe that you need to commit to the tools required to get the job done. If it was mine I would have considered the adapter part of the original total budget for the machine. Maybe you could see if there's a used adapter on eBay.

Agreed, there are major issues with the HH3 version A, so you will need to use a version B, or a different router.
This link should help, it actually gives an example of a different CCTV system, but the procudure for port forwarding is the same.

When I connect my Nikon coolpix S9200 to the camera adaptor I get a message saying this device uses too much power, how can I overcome this?

You are probably seeing this message because the camera uses the same port to charge it. The iPad can not supply the power to charge devices from it's dock connector. Also if you use the SD card adapter you are not using up the camera's battery for transferring the photos.

  • How to connect my camera on mac book?

how to connect my camera on my mac book?

Usually an appropriate cable, and other items are
included in the retail box a camera arrived in, so
there should be instructions by that manufacturer
to most suitably attach the camera to a Mac or PC.
Usually the computer will automatically detect the
camera when attached by USB cable; the Mac will
offer to use iPhoto or another application, to view
and handle image processing; or you could choose
to select a different application, or none at all.
For my Macs and two cameras, I do not have iPhoto
handle the images and I choose third-party software
because I don't make libraries of images in the Mac.
However depending on the computer and the camera
the Mac may already have sufficient drivers already
installed; so a software installation from a CD from the
camera maker may not be needed in order to use it.
Since your question is rather wide and gives no info
as to what you have, the replies are also generalized.
    Good luck & happy computing!
