How to connect a PS3 to BT Openzone or Bt FON

I thought I would post this information as it has taken me all morning, a lot of phone calls and reading on google to sort this out!!
Problem I had: I want to take my PS3 to my parents house when visiting and they dont have any access to the internet. I am a total broadband customer and have access to BT FON & Openzone.
I called BT directly and they said they didnt support it so I nearly gave up however I have now found out exactly how to connect!!
Go to Network settings on PS3
Go to - Internet connection settings
Choose - Custom
Choose - Wireless
Choose - Scan
Pick whichever has highest signal strength - either BT FON or BT Openzone
SSID should come up with BtOpenzone (leave it as it is!)
WLAN settings - choose none
IP address - auto
DHCP host - do not set
DNS - Automatic
MTU - automatic
Proxy server - do not use
UPNP - enable
Press x to save settings
At this point it will test connection and show the IP address has been found but the internet connection failed, this is fine. Come out of settings and go to your internet browser on PS3
Once you launch the browser you get the BT openzone log in page, enter your details if you are a customer or buy the package / whichever is your preference.
Once you have logged in you can then close the browser and launch an online game!
I played Black Ops on BT Openzone at signal strength 100%, it was perfect and I had no problems at all!

Hi, BTOPENZONE is my normal wireless network. I only have openzone and pay monthly for it!
Has anyone found a solution to the problem mentioned above with regards to the PS3 not obtaining an IP adrress from the OPENZONE access point? I alled th openzone helpline last night and am no further on today!

i'm trying to connect two PS3 to the same routeur without having conflicts. Everytime i try to update my game softwares it tells me error 80710723 or now 8002AD23. I gave the two PS3 different IP adresses, i opened all the ports that Playstation suggested me to open (http://playstation.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/241) and gave them different DNS adresses but still they cannot download any software content without bugging the console. I also use a PC, Tablet and Phone with my wireless connection.

Well in this case the error code (80710723 ) is generated when the internet connection is slow. So you can try the following step:
# Open up the browser and on the address bar type 192.168.1.1 that will open up the Router setup page.
# Lower the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) from 1500 to 1400 or less (usually found on your router's main/ basic setup page)
# Make the Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 6, 9, 11..
#Adjust the following advanced wireless settings:
~~ Lower the beacon interval from 100 to 75
~~ Lower the fragmentation threshold from 2346 to 2306
~~ Lower the RTS threshold from 2347 to 2304

Can i use a mini display port on hdmi cabel to connect a ps3 or something??

the hdmi connector of the ps3 or a sat reciever is an output and on the 27" imac the minidisplayport is an input/output , so my question is, can i connect my ps3 or my sat reciever to my imac with a hdmi on minidisplayport cabel to watch tv or play ps3 .
if it does'nt work, how can i do this , or can i do this ??

Nope; at least not that I've found. There are only a couple of companies selling such a converter (they probably all come from the same manufacturer) and they're all pricing it exactly the same.

But how do I connect to it? I'm trying to make a multiplayer game, and I want variables and strings to be communicated to each client, but what code do I have to put in to get one of the clients to connect to the other? Again, it successfully LISTENS for a connection, but I don't know how to get anything to connect to it. Another thing is that I get an error thrown at me when I try to test the standalone SWF file, it only listens for connections when I hit "test movie" in the FLA... Thanks in advance...

i like to connect my ps3 to my fatality soundcard and hear my ps3 sound in windows
i got an obtical cable and hooked it up both of em together but im not sure where to go fromt here becuase im a bit clueless what to do in windows and im not exactly sure what obtical settings i should use on my ps3 hehe. where should i go from here? thx

Hey! I already tried this and if you dont have a problem with 'just stereo sound', it will work.
Just connect your PS3 with the optical cable to the 'Digital (optical) In' port on your soundcard.
Then enable the Digital In - port in the 'Volume Mixer' of creatives soundconsole and set up you PS3 that it gives you the sound out of your digital (optical) cable. You can find this option in "Settings -> Audio Settings".
If this does not work, enable multi audio out (also in audio settings) of your PS3.
Now your soundcard should pass through the audio signal coming from your PS3.
I still do not know how to set up a 5. PS3. sound with your PC, but I think you have to buy a soundcard with an integrated DTS/ Dolby Digital DEcoder. Another option might be to software decode the signal, but I'm not sure, whether there is such a software.

I'm also looking for the same thing, the PS3 has a HDCP in the HDMI that prefents any normal capture card to work in full 1080p HD. A couple of my friends have a HDCP stripper but i feel that almost if not illegal. One way I saw on Youtube awhile back was a guy using a HDMI Splitter from one male to two female and ran one into his pc and the other into his TV. I then decided to order myself one to see if it actually works, Im suppose to get the package within a couple of days but ill let you know if it actually works, also here is the youtube video that I watched that gave me the idea, hope this helps! Presumably as you have posted in the OS X 10.7.x (Lion) area you are running this version of the OS on your iMac.
This will have iChat 6 on it.
This can use AIM, Jabber and Yahoo IDs within the app.
Apple IDS ending in @mac.com and iCloud issued @me.com and @icloud.com are also Valid AIM Screen Names.
If you use Googlemail and Enable "talk" in the products there you can then use your Google Mail ID as a Jabber ID (although it has it's own Add Account option in iChat)
Facebook has an option to Enable "Chat" which will give you a Chat ID variant on your name there and this can be used in iChat (or Messages) as a Jabber ID.
The Yahoo Account will only do Text chats.
It also has to be an actual ID registered at Yahoo.
Chats are then AIM to AIM or Jabber to Jabber or Yahoo to Yahoo.
So your Buddy will also need a suitable ID or Screen Name for the relevant service.

You probably can't because it looks like your MacBook Pro is too old to carry audio over HDMI. You will need to run a separate audio cable from the audio out port on the MacBook Pro to the audio in port on the TV.

Yep, Apple makes adaptors to go from the mini DVI on the macbook to almost any type of input that you TV will have. First check the back of your tube to find out what kind of input it has, and order the appropriate adaptor.

How to connect a Sony Bravia TV to the internet through your Airport network

Since it took me a lot of time to figure out how to connect my Sony Bravia TV to the internet through my Airport network, I better share how to do it. Hopefully saving others a lot of time.
My 32EX600 Sony Bravia TV is Ethernet connected to my Mac Mini, which is part of my Airport network, together with another Mac, an Airport Extreme Base Station and an ADSL modem/router. Moreover, the Mac Mini is connected to the TV by HDMI.
Whatever I tried in the TV’s Wired Network Set-up (Auto, or Manual with manual IP, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS IPs), I couldn’t get it right. Cable Connection and Local Access were mostly OK, Internet Access always Failed.
The solution lies in the Sharing panel of the System Preferences of the Mac Mini. In the Internet Sharing item of that panel, you should choose to “share your internet connection from WiFi to computers (the TV in this case) using Ethernet“, and NOT (as I had chosen before and seemed so obvious) “share your internet connection from Airport to computers using Ethernet“. After that change, the Bravia Network Set-up, using the Wired and Auto options, flawlessly connected to the internet. No expensive (Sony) WiFi USB dongle needed.

I have now had a detailed reply from Sony Europe and the way to do this is to:
1.       Press Home on the TV Setup
2.       Use the right and left arrow to select Setting.
3.       Use the up and down to select Network, press Enter.
4.       Select Network Setup.
5.       Select Wireless setup.
6.       Select Scan
7.       Select your network
8.       A new screen will appear asking for entering the security key.
9.       Enter your WPA2 key.
10.   Select Enter.
11.   It will take you back to the same screen asking for entering the
security key.
12.   Press the right arrow.
13.   Select Auto.
14.   Press the right arrow.
15.   Select Save and connect.
These instructions are not the same as shown on the TV but they worked fine for me so they may help others with a similar problem.

In that case, if your MacBook is the retina-one, you have HDMI connector there too. All you need is HDMI cable to connect teh two.
If your MacBook has thunderbolt port instead, you need Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and HDMI cable.
