How to connect CLW 12/600 to PowerMac G4/G5 running Mac OSX 10.4 ?

I have an Apple Color LaserWriter 12/600 PS that are still running very well. How can I connect the printer to a PowerMac G5 (Quad) running OSX 10.4 Tiger ? Alternatively, I also have a PowerMac G4 MDD dual 1.25Ghz running the same OS.
Any input is appreciated! THANKS!
Apple CLW 12/600 PS Mac OS X (10.4.6)

That printer has an Ethernet port, but it may have been implemented as an AAUI Ethernet, rather than RJ-45. Look for a connector labelled <_> If that is your connector type, you will need a US$5 used Transceiver to convert it to RJ-45 ("regular" Ethernet cable).
Connect the printer to your Ethernet Hub or Switch or Router, and it will be accessible as a Network Printer -- you can connect to it from all of your computers using AppleTalk-Over-Ethernet. It appears that this printer is also LPR/LPD capable, so you can also connect to it using LPR/LPD protocol, as described in this article:
245212- What Is LPR?
You will need to turn on AppleTalk in the Preferences > Network > Built-In Ethernet pane. The middle category should say AppleTalk. You have no Zones.
The driver for all Postscript level 2 LaserWriters is built in to Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X.
Preferences > Print and fax > ( Set up Printers ) > Add > using [ AppleTalk ]

  • How can I upgrade from iMovie 7.4.1 while running Mac OSX 10.7.5?

I am trying to upgrade iMovie 7.4.1, but I don't know where to get the next version of the software.
I am currently running OSX 10.7.5 on a 2008 iMac.
    Thanks.

With the above listed config that I have (iphoto 7.1.5 on an older iMac running OSX 10.6.8), how can I move my iPhoto library from this old iMac (2006) to my NEW iMac (2011) that is running iPhoto 9.5.1 ?
To open an iPhoto 7.1.x version in iPhoto '11 you need to run the iPhoto Library Upgrader. See this Support document:
iPhoto '11: About the Library Upgrade
Download and install the upgrader,  then run it on your iPhoto 7.1.5 library. After that, iPhoto will be able to open your library and upgrade it to version 9.5.1. And you will be able to merge the libraries with if Library Manager.

  • How do I load Quicktime 7.7 on my imac running MAC OSX 10.6.8? I bought and downloaded, but when I try to install it says I cannot instal on macintosh HD

I just bought and downloaded quicktime Pro for it's exporting capabilities. When I tried to install it on my imac it said it couldn't because QT 10 already exists on computer. When I dumped quicktime 10 in the trash and restarted computer, I still am unable to install.

You can't install that version on Snow Leopard. Look here instead:

How can I download adobe air version 2.74 to my Mac OSX 10.5.8?

In the end it worked for me as well. Once I uninstalled any previous version and any version that I tried to install and didn't work, then installed the 2.7.1 the Advent Calendar that I wanted to show animation worked. I know, a small thing, but I really wanted it to work.

  • I need to connect a eMac - power mac 6,4 -PowerPC G4 (1.1) to the internet wirelessly  running mac osx 10.4.11.

I need to connect a eMac - power mac 6,4 -PowerPC G4 (1.1) to the internet wirelessly  running mac osx 10.4.11.
Can anyone advise me please. I have done some research and think a USB adapter is the best option as I doubt the eMac will be able to take a card but the software will have to be able to run on tiger.

Might be an idea to ask them for confirmaion that it will work with your Mac, but it should do!

How can i play my avi formatted movies with the new mac OSX 10.9.2 update?

Try using VLC or installing both QuickTime 7 and Perian. Nothing will work with all AVIs; some of them require codecs not available for Mac OS X.

  • How to connect Airport to an old PowerMac?

Anyone knows how to connect Airport Extreme to an old PowerMac?

Another option could be to connect a wireless Ethernet bridge (such as Linksys WET610N or Netgear WNCE2001) to the Ethernet port of the PowerMac.

  • How to connect a cinema display and a VGA monitor to mac mini

I bought a Macmini and want to connect to a cnema display and to a monitor that uses VGA connection. I also bought a MiniDisplayPort to VGA adapter but the MacMini only has ONE Minidisplay port.  I thought this would be more straitforward....

I'm unsure of the issue, the Mini has both mDP and HDMI outputs, right? If so, the mDP for the Cinema Display an a HDMI to VGA adapter for the 2nd monitor.

  • How to connect a SATA Drive in a G4 MDD Desktop Mac?

Due to much more needed harddisk space for music production on my G4 1.25 GHz Dual PC, I ordered and just received a SATA 500 GB internal Harddiskdrive.
Under "About This Mac" in the System Profiler I get a list of all my internally already connected ATA Drives. But there is also a (empty) category available, named "Serial-ATA" which I strongly assume stands for SATA. I further think once such a category is existing I should be able to connect a SATA drive.
    Now:
    1. Can I connect the new SATA HD internally in my Dual G4 or must I use the Drive as an external Firewire Drive (of course in a special housing)?
    2. If it is possible to built in a SATA drive, must I buy an adapter in any form, because the interface on the SATA drive is different from the cable endings in my Mac?
    3. If so, what is such an Adapter be called (from Inerface A name to Interface B name) and do I get it at an electronic store?
    4. Is there anything crucial I do need to know regarding this matter (maybe voltage compatibility, adjustments on SATA drive or in my Macintosh G4, etc.)?
    5. And if it should not be possible to use the HD internally (as in question 1.), are there housings with Firewire 800 connectors available for SATA drives which I can use?
I would be very glad for your specialist help! Thank you!

Thank you all (Malcolm Rayfield · The hatter · Rodney Culling) so very much. I thought I would be lost and stuck - on contrary I got your huge help.
Unfortunately I bought already the SATA 7200.10 and it had been delivered. But I am very happy to hear that there are PCI SATA cards available and I preferably would like this solution to have the Drive as an internal drive. It is for me easier to tame the noise not having an additional drive in my Mini recording studio.
I will investigate into the prices of those cards and only do hope that the price for such PCI SATA cards are not to expensive otherwise my bread deliverer (boss) will refuse. He was already not excited to hear I ordered a SATA drive but there was no ATA anymore available at my usual source and if I later upgrade to a G5 I can take the drive with me. I only will have then the reverse situation using some of my older ATA drives in a new G5.
Thanks a million again for your kind and unexpected fast help. Thanks!

  • How to connect an old ADC flat panel to the new Mac mini?

I am thinking of getting one of these new Mac mini's for the kids in the den and I have an old 20" flat panel ADC from Apple that is still going strong. Is there an adapter that will work with this configuration?
    Thanks,
    West

Somewhat ungainly, but you'll need the mini-DVI-DVI adaptor (supplied with the new mini), and a DVI-ADC adaptor (http://store.apple.com/us/product/M8661LL/B?fnode=MTY1NDA5OQ&mco=MjE0NTg4NA)

  • How can I setup a Deskjet 3050a/J611 to my updated MAC OSX 10.9

SInce updating my MAC with OSX 10.9 (Maverick) I have not been able to add my printer to my computer as wireless.  I can add by USB cable but I am not being given the option to "convert a USB connected printer to Wireless".  I can print when connected by USB but all wireless capability are inoperative.  I have seen other discussions pointing to Jon-W steps but that process did not work for me.
I have used the WPS method and the HP screen confirms that I am connected to my wireless network but my MAC does not discover my deskjet under Pinters an Scanners via wireless (only via USB plugged in).
Becoming very frustrated with this HP Deskjet.

  • How do I manually add Adobe Reader as plugin on my Mac OSX 10.4.11?

When I try to access my bank statement online Firefox tells me I need to install Adobe Reader as a plugin, but I must do it manually. When I download and install Adobe Reader it appears in my application folder, but does not appear as a Firefox plugin. How do I install it as a plugin?

For iCloud, you need a version of iTunes 10, and 10.4.11 only supports up to 9.2.1.  10.4 offers no iCloud access, while 10.5 and 10.6 have limited access.  Only 10.7 and 10.8 are integrated with iCloud.
