How to connect iPhone4 to iTunes without losing pictures?

On my old XP machine, I had tracks on iTunes and synched them to my iPod Touch. Later, I got an iPhone, and made the mistake of synching it with iTunes as if the phone were an iPod, and it synched my music....and wiped out my contacts and pictures.
Now I have a Win7 machine - I copied my music files from the XP box to the new one. I then installed iTunes on the Win7 box, and it seemed to recognize all the tracks I ever loaded into iTunes on the XP box. What will happen if I connect the iPhone to the Win7 box now? Is there any way that I can "fool" iTunes into thinking that the iPhone is a new device, so I don't lose my pics and contacts on the phone?
Sorry if this is long, but had to include all deets. Thanks in advance....

  • How to get a new iTunes without losing my stuff on my iPhone

So When updating my phone last time My dad synced all our phones together and I discounted my phone from our cloud and then locked us all out of our itunes. Should have been an easy fix but I was 13 when I made our itunes account (now 18) and do NOT remember my answer for the security questions at all and therefore none of us can not get into our itunes and that means I have not been able to update my phone since September and its running so slow. I really wanna just get a new itunes account but I really don't want to lose any of my apps or pictures on my phone. Can someone please help me!

When you sync the iPad 1 to iTunes it should copy all of the items from the iPad into iTunes.
However, you can connect your iPad 1 to your computer, launch iTunes, right click on the device name on the left side of iTunes and select Transfer Purchases. This will transfer all paid apps, movies, music etc into iTunes. The you can sync the iPad 1 to iTunes one last time to make sure all content is backed up.
    This talks about transferring purchases.

Disconnect iPad 1, connect iPad 2, select all of the stuff that was on iPad 1 and sync.

  • How do I re-install iTunes without losing all my songs?

For some reason or another, I haven't been able to update iTunes for a long time now. I want to reinstall it but I am afraid I will lose all of my music.
How can I delete iTunes and still keep all my songs?
    Thanks
btw...I have iTunes currently on an external hard drive so it doesn't eat up space on the computer.

wouldn't that just delete my songs on the itunes with it?
sorry to question you, but it is 5,000 songs and just wanted to clarify

  • How can I reinstall iTunes without losing tune content of my iPod

I had a major Windows system 32 problem and had to reformat my hard drive. (Computer was backed up before incident.)
Later, I got a message about a corrupt iTunes driver and found iPod and iTunes in recycle bin.
    Long story short:
I have installed updated iPod software and now need to re-install iTunes. I read somewhere how to re-install updated iTunes without losing what is already on my iPod...but I forget where I read it.
Of course, I DON'T WANT TO LOSE the content in my iPod.
My understanding is that, if I do nothing to prevent it, when I download iTunes and connect my iPod to the PC, I will lose all my iPod content because the new iTunes library will be empty.
How do I get iTunes back again, without losing my iPod tunes?
All suggestions and help very much appreciated!!

"Connect to a computer. Use iTunes to restore."  When I connect to a computer, iTunes doesn't recognise it.  The iPod 5th Gen does not work at all. How do I fix my iPod without losing any data?
I have seen the Apple webpage suggesting the "five R's" (including restore).  Before doing anything, I want to be sure that restoring or any other action is not going to delete or risk my data.
I would be very grateful if anyone can suggest a fix for this problem, in a way that will not risk my data.
    Thanks in advance!

Did you try a hard reset with the iPod still connected to your PC?  Have you tried multiple USB ports, preferably high powered USB 2.0 ports?
To do a hard reset, first make sure the hold switch is in the Off position, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
Have you also worked through each and every single troubleshooting suggestion in this Apple support document?

  • How do I sync my iphone with itunes without losing everything on my phone?

How do I sync my iphone with itunes without losing everything on my phone?

Normally, you should be able to sync your iPhone with iTunes without losing anything
What can happen is that you might have emptied your iTunes library for any reason such as a system restore
If this is the case, you first need to Import iPhone library to iTunes and then, you'll be able to sync your iPhone with iTunes with no problem

how do i sync apps to my iPhone 4S using itunes without losing aps already installed on the phone but with a different apple ID, and i dont have the apple ID??

How have you managed to get apps on your phone that are tied to a different and unknown AppleID?
If these apps were not purchased by you, having them is effectively software piracy and you should purchase them using your own AppleID if you want to keep hem.

Copy all the content on your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes. Then go ahead and sync the iPod with your new library.

  • How do I add the songs from my iPod to my list of songs on iTunes without losing any?

I have 2600 songs on my classic iPod that I would like to add to my songs in iTunes without losing any from either location. Some of my iPod songs were ripped from CD's I own and were not downloads. If I sync them it seems like the songs on my iPod will be replaced with only the songs from iTunes. How do I do this?

If I sync them it seems like the songs on my iPod will be replaced with only the songs from iTunes. How do I do this?
Yes, that's what will happen...  Ideally, all songs on your iPod are already in your iTunes library.  AND you keep a backup of that iTunes library, and restore from that backup if your computer fails.  An iPod should not be the only place with a copy of your songs.
iTunes syncing is generally in one direction only, from the computer's iTunes library to the iPod.  You cannot use iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store).  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do an Internet search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links, including a CNET article on the topic.
Depending on the method used, if some songs are BOTH on the iPod AND in your iTunes library, you may have to go through the "consolidated" library and remove duplicates manually.  Going forward, you can use this method to back up your computer's complete iTunes library (not just your songs) to an external drive

  • How do I delete songs from Itunes without losing them in my IPOD?

How do I delete songs from Itunes without losing them in my IPOD? I don't want 11gb of music stored on my computer when I already have it in my Ipod. Anyone have some info?

You can Transfer music manually, then delete the files from the PC without having it sync to the iPod.
    HOWEVER.....
Deleting songs off of iTunes or your computer is a very bad idea unless you have created one or more backup files of all your songs.
Using the iPod as the sole repository of any of your songs is a very risky practice. When (not ‘if’) you need to restore the iPod, return the iPod for service, or it's song files are somehow lost or damaged, you will be re-ripping all your CDs back into iTunes and re-purchasing all your iTMS songs. Restoring the iPod is a common ‘fix’ to many small issues that arise.
If you cannot store your songs on a PC or within iTunes, then you will need to have some storage medium in use (an external hard drive, DVDs or CDs). You should also consider a secondary backup medium for additional safety. Whether you keep your music in iTunes or on an external source – Multiple copies of your music files are a must!
The iPod is really designed to be playback device - not a primary storage device (although it can be used as such), and certainly not as the only storage medium for all your music.
Always backup your PC files: both music and data. Backup as frequently as possible. The usual ‘metric’ is to determine just how much work (hours, days, weeks) or money spent you are willing to repeat by extending out your time between backups. Your choice, your potential headache &/or loss.
Many data-savvy folks have more than one backup and create incremental backups every time they add to or change their Library. Depending on the work I am doing, I may perform several backups during the same day. As they are incremental, and placed on my Backup ExHD – it is a very quick operation to perform several times a day, when needed.
If you are heavily invested in your Library data (Playlists, Play Counts, Ratings, Last Played, Date Added, etc.), then:
it is critical that you also make multiple backups of your ‘iTunes Library.itl’ file.
iTMS REMINDER: While you can always take the time to re-rip the CDs you own to restore your iTunes music, if you lose your iTMS purchased music and have no backups, you will have to re-purchase them. Few exceptions are made to this rule – at least none that I am aware of.
Here is a post on developing a backup strategy:

I have an iPad that I want to update to IOS 5.1. I have several apps that each were installed using a different iTunes ID. How can I update the IOS without losing the apps?

To update your phone requires using the latest version of iTunes, on your computer, as well as Internet access. The update to iOS 5.0 or higher is an erase/restore deal, so you not only have to make sure all of the content, currently on your phone, is on your computer and accessible, you need to update iTunes first, have Internet access, then update your phone. There is no way around this fact. You could go to an Apple store or use another computer, but you run the risk of losing all of your data it you do that.

I recently had to redownlaod Itunes onto my computer, how can I safely transfer everything on my iPods onto itunes without losing everything?

The ipod is not a backup device.  The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The only exception is itunes purchases:  File>Transfer Purchases
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer, particularly before any restore, update, etc.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
