How to Connect LS CAN (USB-8472) to Single-Wire CAN device?

In the post of http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=30&message.id=216&requireLogin=False , NI Engineer said that
“It is possible to use our Low-Speed CAN boards in
a single-wire mode. However, the board will give CAN warnings. So, the
control program may have to ignore certain CAN warnings.

But I can't see the detail connection and software settings in that post.
How can I use LS CAN to communicate with single-wire CAN (such as GMLAN)? Should I make some additional settings in my LabVIEW program?

  • How to connect serial or usb or parallel port

telll me how to connect our application with serial port and how to detect weather the usb is connected or not

Without spending too much time looking at the documentation, from using previous similar transducers, the primary two connections you are concerned with are the "+output" and the "ground". The other connections are also important, but aren't directly the concern of the Data Acquisition Hardware. The "+output" produces a variable dc voltage relative to the "ground" input that is a product of the applied pressure, with the maximum output voltage, as shown on the chart, indicating maximum pressure. So you would connect those, through a suitably shielded, moderately short length, wire to the "DAQ" analog input. You will also have to supply the transducer with it's required + supply voltage at pin 2 "vs", and the power supplie's negative to the ground. There are whitepapers on this NI site about connecting to data acquistion hardware and I strongly suggest reading them a couple of times as well as anything online you can find. Writing the DAQ software, in LabVIEW or whatever, can be trivial compared to making the correct, low noise, connections to sensor hardware.
I didn't read how the offset adjustment signal is produced or its use, figure it is designed to allow you to "tune out" some signal offset caused by differences between sensors of a type (they will not all have the same "fullscale output" as indicated in the chart).
As you proceed, please keep asking.

  • How to connect to the USB printer

I connect a USB printer to the USB port of my Airport Extreme.  Can someone help advise the procedure for the computers in the network to connect to the USB printer.  Thanks!

Unfortunately, not all USB printers are compatible with AirPort base stations. In addition, the  AirPort's USB port does not support the "advanced" printer functions, like scanning, copying or faxing, of multi-function printers.
To see if your printer is compatible, take a look at thisiFelix Unofficial AirPort Printer Compatibility link. If your printer isn't listed, it doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, but simply that it has not been verified. iFelix also provides the following workaround for printers not on the list that would certainly be worth a try.
Also you can try this Apple Tech Support article to see if it will help: Printer troubleshooting for AirPort Base Stations and Time Capsule
Finally, check out this IBM support article to see if your printer is listed as having a Postscript or PCL3 interface. If it does, then it will most likely work with the AirPort's USB port. Printers that use the "HP LIDIL" interface must be connected to a computer directly and will not work.

  • How many connections PAT can handles?

How many connections that an IP address with PAT can support? One IP address with PAT can support 65536 hosts as there are 65536 ports available for an IP(ranging from 0 to 65535)?

    Hi,
PAT (overloading) divides the available ports per global IP address into three ranges: "0-511, 512-1023, and 1024-65535". PAT assigns a unique source port for each UDP or TCP session. It will attempt to assign the same port value of the original request, but if the original source port has already been used, it will start scanning from the beginning of the particular port range to find the first available port and will assign it to the conversation.

If your USB port is working now, you didn't damage it and have nothing to worry about.
The behavior you saw in your bus-powered Fujitsu drive is normal for a drive that needs more power than the USB port can provide.
If your USB ports ever do shut down, resetting the SMC may bring them back online again quickly and easily.

  • How do you set a usb sound card as the default sound device for all programs?

I'm running cmus for a music player and it works fine with the internal speakers on my macbook pro. I'm using a usb sound card for a set of 5.1 surround speakers and cmus won't send it's audio to the usb sound card. I've also tried several other programs for audio and it seems to be hit or miss with being able to use the usb sound card. I'm not sure if I'm overlooking the a setting or if there is a different audio output plugin for cmus that has the functionality I need. Cmus also won't play over any bluetooth audio device while some other sounds will.

Yes I did and it does not appear there. Only the ringtones I have created myself and the default ones appear in the list.
In settings>sounds>ringtone however they all appear

  • Share NI-CAN Devices to remote desktop session

    Hi,
I connect a CAN-device on my local computer. Then I log into a computer via remote desktop and I would like to share my device on that session. How can I use my device on a remote session.
I am using windows 7 on both.

    No
The can CAN device is plugged by USB on PC1. I want to share/use it on PC2.
For exemple, i can share a hard-drive, Usb-camera, Serial-port of PC1 to use it on PC2 . I just want to do the same with the CAN-port
I am using remote desktop, is there a way or a better tool to do that ?

  • How many USB-8472s can I connect to the same computer

I have an application that would require connecting 4 USB-CAN devices to the same computer and control them all through LabWindows.  Does the driver facilitate this, or is it a one-at-a-time deal?

No, you can have as many USB CAN devices as you can plug in to your PC. If you use a Hub, don't forget to add a power supply.

I am connecting an external USB HDD and I can see it on my Apple Macbook Air. BUT this drive is READ only. How can I write to it?

    Drive Partition and Format
1.Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
Steps 4-6 are optional but should be used on a drive that has never been formatted before, if the format type is not Mac OS Extended, if the partition scheme has been changed, or if a different operating system (not OS X) has been installed on the drive.
