  • How do I connect Mac Book Air with HD TV No Apple Tv available

I am looking for a cable or connection from Mac Book Air to an HD TV. I ant to have the movies on the TV screen. But I don't want to buy an Apple TV.

    Hey vickitaunus,
Thanks for the question. Your MacBook Air has a Thunderbolt port that can be used to connect Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cables. We have a few offerings in our store:

  • HT1689 how sinc my mac book air to my iphone 5 all the itunes

    ok I have purchase a few song on my Mac Book Air and I have purchase few song on myiphone 5;
now like to have it sinc????

    iTunes is on your computer.
    Launch iTunes on your computer.
Connect your phone to your computer using the USB cable that came with it.
If the "Library" button is displayed on the right side of the screen in iTunes click on it to switch to Library view. If the button says "iTunes Store" you are already in the library view.
Also on the right is a button that should say "iPhone"
    Click on it.
Look at the bottom right of the iPhone page that is displayed when you clicked on "iPhone"
Click on the button that says "Sync"
Now go and read the manual and learn about the other wonderful things your iPhone can do.

  • How to 'reset' Mac Book Air?

My Mac Book Air is instable, permanently< asking to restart. Its in a loop. What I need is a kind of Secure Mode start up. Repeatedly pressing power off for several seconds brings the same error message, that Mac OS wants a restart. Urgently need advise.
    Thanks.

  • Using apple tv to connect mac book air to tv

Does anyone know if it is possible to use the apple tv to display something from a macbook air on to my tv?
Or does the apple tv only display objects from itunes? if so, what cords would have to be purchased in order to do this?

what kind of cord could be purchased in order to connect the macbook air to a tv? it really only has a usb plug
no idea, you might get an answer in the macbookair forum.

  • How to access Mac Book Air SSD externally?

I have made a mistake using my Air, I deleted the boot record on the SSD.
The laptop is unable to start, unable to run diagnorstics, unable to run boot select, nothing, it just shows the gray background with no apple logo on it, so does not even loads the OSX. I believe it stuck in the boot process when there are two OS (OSX, SUSE) and no boot records. The system detects external USB flash drive, but it can't boot from that either.
    My questions are theese:
In order to repair and reflash the SSD from an older backup image that I have, I need an external SSD reader, which I can connect to another computer. Where can I finde such? I have been looking for it the whole day, but no reader has the same connection that apple does.
If there is no reader to that, I can make it. Correct me if I am wrong, but the Air's SSD is a SATA, but a smaller one. Are the pinouts in the same order as in SATA? Because in this case, I just need 2 connectors and a bunch of wire...
It would be much easier to do this process without a home-made sata reader, so I have an another idea, a riskier one: The problem is with the SSD, so why not remove it, and start a linux from an USB stick, then when the system is up, put back the SSD, and reformat it. Is it technically possible? Will the system recognise that the SSD was put back? Will it damage the mainboard?
So, theese are my ideas to reflash the SSD, I hope I can make it without buying a new one. If someone has better ideas I am looking forward to it too...
    Thanks for every reply!

if its a 2011 model then it gotta still be under warranty. why not at least try to ask the apple store to take care of you? if its a 2011 model like you say it is then it won't do any good to take the computer apart.
ive tried linux before on a pc (i think it was the backtrack linux) and by default it put lilo on my main hard disk boot sector and it screwed it and not the sd card that i told linux to install it to. lame
your not thinking hard enough. its realitively easily to erase the hard disk, install snow leopard and then instal lion from someones CD. the external drive only costs $79 why are you rushing into wanting to take the computer apart and replace its ssd module (at a cost of around 249 to 289) to fix yourself? without trying everything else?
maybe you didnt make the usb boot disk properly. usb drives do not use boot sectors. technically usb drives have built in firmware to look for system files and then to boot.. you can't physically write a track 0 to a usb drive in real life. if you were actually able to you would ruin the drive.
from your description you make it sound like its some kind of nvram failure or worse (like a total firmware failure)
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
Your computer's PRAM and the NVRAM are reset to the default values. The clock settings may be reset to a default date on some models.

  • How do I unlock file permissions on an external flash drive connected to a mac book air?

Hi there, I have just synced my I tunes library to I Tunes on my mac book air using a WD external flash drive (which I have always used as my storage drive for my entire library and was previously running on a Sony Vaio PC) and although I can now see and play all my files I can't download new content as I get an error message stating "there was a problem downloading.... you don't have priveleges to make changes" which from my research is because the flash drive I tunes folder permissions within it are locked to read only.
Which is where the problem lies as I can't see anyway to change this when clicking on the drives in my devices and going to the get info option, as although it shows the permission status - you can't edit that?
Note I know this is the issue as if I change the I tunes media folder location back to the defualt folder as the hard drive on the mac book I can then download new files no problem, however I dont want to store my content on the hard drive of my mac book air as my library is over 300gb and want to keep it all on the external (as I always did when running I tunes on my PC).
Any help will be apprecaited guys!
    Thanks

If the drive is formatted as MS-DOS or exFAT, use the Disk Utility in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder to repair it.
If it's formatted as NTFS, either reformat it or install third-party software which enables the Mac to write to NTFS drives.

  • How can I remove iCloud from my Mac Book and iPad and Mac Book Air and then just reload back on the MB Air and iPad only?

How can I remove iCloud from my Mac Book and iPad and Mac Book Air and then just reload back on the MB Air and iPad only, which have a different user with a separate Apple ID?

You have quite muddied up the waters, I'm afraid. Assuming you now have a single GUID partition formatted Mac OS Extended, Journaled, you should try reinstalling Lion:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Can anyone recommend an external storage device to supplement my mac book air?  I already have a time capsule but want the new device to replicate the data on that so ideally would like a device that i can connect to the time capsule through a cable.

Can anyone recommend an external storage device to supplement my mac book air?  I already have a time capsule but want the new device to replicate the data on that so ideally would like a device that i can connect to the time capsule through a cable.

    Hi CJR
I'm not sure how Time Capsule can be replicated onto your external drive but there is a USB port on the back of TC that can be hooked up to any recent external drive.
Another thing to think about , besides a Time Capsule failure, is the theft of your Time Capsule, so it might be a good idea to consider separating any redundant back-up from your Time Capsule or both my be stolen.
TC will back up until full and then begin deleting the oldest back-ups.  Mine is a 2TB Time capsule.
My back-up plan is as follows:
    1.  Macbook Air back-up on Time Capsule though Time Machine backs up everything - I think it's about every 30 min or so.
    2.  Contacts, reminders, appointments, notes, email are backed up through iCloud.
    3.  iTunes and non-itunes purchased music is on iMatch (and no need to back-up) and any non-iTunes music is backed up on an HP external drive (in case Time Capsule dies)
    4.  Photos are on my MacBook Air and are backed up on my HP external drive.
    5.  Office documents (Excel, Powerpoint, Access etc) are stored in a Skydrive app (like iCloud) and Skydrive syncs these docuemnts with the MS  cloud and my old PC and does not alter their native format like storing in iCloud would do.
    Cheers

I accidentally synced my mum's brand new iPad to my mac book air. A few days later I realised that my iTune library on my mac is completely gone. So is my iPhone 4s after I synced it with my mac. How do I get my old iTunes library back? I tried using icloud on my iphone but it stated that I have never back up my phone before. So I guess my iCloud data is gone too? But I have back up my mac in my harddrive using time machine. So how do I get my old itune library back? Please help! Thanks!

    1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.
above works for purchases from the iTunes store. for everything else, check out this post by Zevoneer.

It sounds like you destroyed your boot partition and the recovery partition.  Depending on it's age, your MacBook Air might be able to do a net boot.  Plug and ethernet connection into it and attempt to boot.  If it has the right firmware, it will find a net boot configuration on the net and boot that.  Then it will give you a Recovery Partition like display and allow you to reinstall the OS X version that came with it.... assuming that it was Lion or ML.  If your computer came with Snow Leopard, then even the net boot won't work.
At that point you need a bootable USB Key, or an external DVD drive AND a Snow Leopard installation DVD.
An Apple Store, if there is one nearby, MAY be able to get you going again.  However, whatever is on the SSD now will be toast too.

  • I just got a new iMac.  I set it up and all of my contacts have disappeared.  They have disappeared on my iPhone and my mac book air as well.  How do I get them back?

All contacts have disapppeared from my iPhone, my mac book air and my new iMac.  How do I get back.  I assume it has something to with iCloud.  Thank you.

Use your computer's backup to transfer your iTunes library from your old computer to your new computer per the instructions included with this link, or do the same with both computers networked in some fashion, which shouldn't be hard to do if both computers are connected to the same wireless network.
