How to connect my keynote remote

how to connect my keynote remote

Hello,
to those unable to get Wi-Fi syncing working at your work or institution, it is not the fault of the App, rather it is the fault of the network that you are connecting to.
It is most likely that the reason that it doesn't work is because the network administrators have closed access to the port that you need for the linking between your iOS device and your Mac. The reason that it works fine at home is because you have those ports that you need locked down. The other reason may be that your iOS device is talking to another base station than your Mac is and some networks also segregate base stations from each other.
On the Bluetooth side, it might not be working because you are trying it use something like an iPod Touch 2nd generation (or iPhone 3) these devices can only use their Bluetooth headset, nothing else. So if you are trying to connect your Mac and iPod Touch 2nd Gen, you might get them to pair, but you'll never get them to connect. So don't bother.
So what do you do? Did you just waste your money? Let me assure you that no you didn't.
This is what you do.
Go to your Wi-Fi/Airport menu and select "Create Network…" then give it a network name, such as yours or the name of your computer. I would strongly recommend adding 128-WEP encryption so that your classmates/co-workers/viewers can't connect to your computer and start sniffing around. Once you've created a network your Wi-Fi/Airport menu should turn into a grey arc with a computer in the centre.
Go to your iOS device and under the General -> Network settings select your newly created network
Enter in the password you just gave your network.
Once your iOS device is connected to your Mac, you are good to go! Fire up Keynote on your Mac and Keynote Remote on your device.
Do the linking in the Keynote Settings on your Mac. You should now have control of your presentation!
A couple of notes: what you are doing is effectively removing yourself from the infrastructure network and creating your own. With that in mind note that you won't have access to the Internet on your iOS device nor your Mac. But unless your presentation includes links to websites, you should be okay. The way around this is to connect your Mac to a wired Ethernet connection and perhaps sharing that Internet connection to your Wi-Fi/Airport port to give to your iOS device as well.
A tip: If you do the initial set up at home/office with the network and linking and use the same network name and password, you should only have to do step 1, 2 & 4 as your iOS device will have your password stored and the linking already done.
Hope that helps!
And yes, I would like to have the ability to jump to a specific page, and also have the ability to black out the screen.
Cheers, Andrew Jung.

  • How to connect to a remote database in a lan??

    Hey guys......! I need to connect to a remote msaccess database in a lan and import its data into my mysql database.I know how to connect to a msaccess database using ODBC.But I don't know how to connect to a remote database without creating dsn in the machine where database is.One thing more...I want to know, how can I import data into my mysql database?? Is there any query for that or simply I have to select data from msaccess database and insert into tables of my database??Please, send me the source code in the forum itself and explain also.This is the last feature of my project.So I need to do it as soon as possible.

    If the mdb file in LAN, Just map the network drive.[Windows Explorer/Tools/Map Network Drive] in your system from which we need to access the remote mdb. Then go to ODBC Data Source Admin.. and create a new data source[Microsoft Access Driver] . After clicking the Select button, you will find a Network Drive will be visible on your Drives drop down. Select the map Drive, If not visible then just click the Network button there and map the network path where the mdb files reside. And use the JdbdOdbcDriver class to connect from java.

  • How to connect to apple remote

    How do I connect my Apple Remote-USA to my Nano IPod?  I bought the remote a year ago, recently found it after misplacing it, and tried to pair it with my Nano IPod but it is not working.  The battery is working.  I tried the simple directions of holding down the right and Menu for 5 seconds while pointing the remote to my IPod but nothing happens.  I want to control my IPod from the remote a few feet away so that I do not have to always go to the IPod itself and make my selections.  What am I doing wrong?

    Hi
    Launch ARD, select Scanner. ARD presents Bonjour as the default discovery protocol. Click on this tab and select Network Address. Key in the IP addresses of the two you're interested in. Clearly you would have to know their IP addresses first so I would make a note of these if you're able.
    The rest is fairly obvious from there.

  • How to connect to a Remote Oracle Database

    Hi Friends,
    The error I encountered while connecting to a remote database is DataSource name is too long
    String url="jdbc:odbc://abc:1523/test";
    con = DriverManager.getConnection(url,"xyz","xyz1");
    Here Remote Host-name = abc
    Port = 1523
    DataSource Name=test
    User-name = xyz
    Password =xyz1
    The DataSource is created Using Oracle ODBC driver on Windows 2000
    With following details
    DataSource name=test
    Service name = xyz (Database Name)
    User-id=xyz (User name)
    Thanks in advance
    Hamsa

    As suggested you should use a oracle jdbc driver type 2 (JDBC OCI Driver) or 4 (JDBC Thin Driver).
    Because the thin driver is written entirely in Java, is platform-independent. It does not require any
    additional Oracle software on the client side. It can be used for Oracle JDBC applets or applications.
    The OCI driver is targeted for client-server Java applications. It requires an Oracle client installation, so it is Oracle platform-specific and it is not suitable for applets.
    To connect to a database using those drivers here you have two examples of establishing a connection:
    For OCI driver:
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:oci8:@<dbName>","user","password");
    For thin driver:
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@<host>:<port>:<dbName>", "user", "password");
    And make sure that the classes12.zip file is included in your CLASSPATH.

  • HOW TO: Connect web service (remote application module) to existing model

    Hello.
    I have J2EE application which displays some data in an applet, which reads them by a web service. I'd like to use persistence and connect with a web service called by applet to my current model set within a session. I tried to pass a session id to web service (to a function of an application module implementation). I wanted to create a new SessionCookie instance with such a session id and application id which are used for web application session (by ApplicationPoolImpl.createSessionCookie() or with custom session cookie factory). But I don't know how to pass a session and application ids to a sessioncookie creation process (ApplicationPool environment). I tried to use custom EnvInfoProvider, which set my properties, but it passes the params after a SessionCookie instance is created.
    Samples ... AppModuleServer - file generated to provide ws functionality. I changed code to use EnvInfoProvider:
    public class AppModuleServer extends Object{
      public AppModuleServer(){}
      public SomeObject[] myCustomFunction(String sessionId){
        AppModuleImpl _am = null;
        String appId="someValue";
        CustomEnvInfoProvider envProvider=new CustomEnvInfoProvider(appId, sessionId);
        try{
          _am=(AppModuleImpl)Configuration.createRootApplicationModule("data.AppModule", "AppModuleLocal", envProvider);
          return _am.myCustomFunction(sSessionId);
        finally{
          if (_am != null)Configuration.releaseRootApplicationModule(_am, false);
    }CustomEnvInfoProvider:
    public class CustomEnvInfoProvider implements EnvInfoProvider{
      private String applicationId;
      private String sessionId;
      public CustomEnvInfoProvider(String applicationId, String sessionId){
        this.applicationId=applicationId;
        this.sessionId=aessionId;
      public Object getInfo(String info, Object environment){
        if(info==null)return null;
        return ((Hashtable)environment).get(info);
      public void modifyInitialContext(Object environment){
        if(applicationId!=null)((Hashtable)environment).put("CookieApplicationId", applicationId);
        if(sessionId!=null)((Hashtable)environment).put("SessionId", sessionId);
      public int getNumOfRetries(){
        return 2;
    }Does anybody knows how to pass information from custom EnvInfoProvider just before a SessionCookie is created (e.g. how to run modifyInitialContext() function). Or another way how to pass these information from a web service base function into ApplicationPoolImpl instance. E.g., there is parameter "properties" whithin a createSessionCookie method of ApplicationPoolImpl, which is null during calling. Is it possible to pass there some additional information?
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Use the Web Service Proxy wizard in JDeveloper to create a class that calls your Web service, and then call this class from code in your AM.

  • How do I connect Keynote Remote via Blue Tooth NOT a WiFi network

    Being a novice, at best, "What are the "steps" to connect Keynote Remote, via BlueTooth  MacBook Pro and I-Pad

    Thank you for the reply.
    ctrl B makes the top bar (File. Edit. View. Controls. Store. Help.) appear and disappear.
    ctrl S makes a side bar appear on the left side of iTunes. It shows the library which has Music. Movies. TV Shows. Apps. Playlists. Ect.
    When I did the steps you suggested, my iPhone did not show up in that list.
    I checked my firewall settings again, and they seem to be okay. My firewall is the only thing that I am not 100% sure of. If I go to Control Pannel>System and Security>Windows Firewall>Allow an app through Windows Firewall. It shows that iTunes is allowed. I'm not sure if something else might need to be allowed as well though. I have a few Remote options that are not allowed such as, Remote Event Log Management, Remote Scheduled Tasks Management, Remote Shutdown, Remote Volume Management, and Routing and Remote Access. I'm not sure if any of these need to be allowed or not, or if they are even affiliated with iTunes.

  • Connecting keynote remote to iphone 4 via blue tooth

    Good Morning:
    I would love to use Keynote Remote to run Keynote Presentations at the college where I work.  However, there is something about the college network that seems to be preventing this from happening.  I know this because a) Keynote Remote works perfectly fine on my home network and b) the college network people tell me that this is the case based on their research.  As a way to bypass this, I would like to use the bluetooth on my iPhone 4 and Macbook Pro to set up a connection and use Keynote Remote.  To date, I have not been able to make this happen.  I cannot get the devices to recognize each other (so much more how "easy" all apple products connect to one another).  Does anyone know how to get this to work?  I have the latest Lion operating system and the latest iOS for my iPhone 4.  Would love to get this to work, as my life would be much easier.
    Thanks,
    Matt

    The iPhone will NOT pair with your Tom Tom.  This is not, nor has it ever been a feature of the iPhone.

  • I excluded iphone from controls in Keynote. How I get it back on the list to use Keynote remote?

    I excluded iphone from controls in Keynote. How I get it back on the list to use Keynote remote?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    If you haven't turned find my phone off on the device, it should just reappear next time it is connected to an appropriate network. If you have turned off find my phone, turn it back on.

  • Lost Keynote Remote connection to iPhone

    I had a Keynote Remote connection set up between the iPhone and PowerBook, but now the iPhone does not appear in Remote Preferences. Both devices are on the same wifi network, running Keynote '09, Keynote Remote running on the iPhone, and still has the laptop showing as a Keynote link. Seems like if I could completely remove the link from both devices, it could re-establish the link, but I can't find how to remove the link from the iPhone.

    Wow, I was really hoping that there would be an answer in here since it isn't that publicized.
    I have found that when using the network created by my MacBook Pro (no wifi at work) the signal is so weak that the phone will only search for keynote when my iPhone is sitting on the keyboard. Even then though, it will never connect to keynote. I don't know what is wrong with it because the day the iPhone app came out it worked fine.
    I plan on calling Apple today about it. I'll post if I find out anything.

    Close ... before going for a specific Cisco app ... lets find out some details:
    Host we need more details:
    What is your server environment (Windows Server, or Mac OS X Server, or Linux)?
    What security is implemented in your environment - as what is restricted (RDP for all or specifc credentials on all machines? Are you part of local admin group to the server you wish to connect)?
    Does your environment Support CISCO IPSec connection? If so use Settings> VPN and IPSec tab to enter VPN details, if not then go with above suggestion. IF your restricted to RSA then either built in VPN settings or 3rd party app for RSA would suffice.
    Finally, there are many RDP applications out there I use "Mocha RDP Light" (free minimal ads when launched not when connecting).

  • How to connect to remote server with jmx from jvisualvm

    I have a WL 10.3.2 domain running on a single box. The adminserver and managed server are running on the same box, on different ports (7001 and 8001, respectively).
    I have a Spring application deployed to the managed server and I've configured it to register a Spring bean as a JMX mbean.
    When I run this entire configuration on my laptop, I can run jvisualvm and connect to my server and see and manipulate my registered mbean.
    I'm having trouble figuring out how to get a remote connection working, however. I want to run jvisualvm on my laptop and connect to the remote server.
    I first did "Add Remote Host", where I specified the IP address. It appears that this was created successfully, and it apparently was able to determine the DNS name for it.
    I then tried to add a JMX connection. In the "Connection" field, I just entered the IP address followed by a colon and 8001 (managed server port number).
    In the "Use security credentials" section, I entered the weblogic admin principal and credentials.
    When I click OK, it chugs for a while and eventually gives up, saying:
    Cannot connect to [email protected]:8001 using
    service:jmx:rmi:///jndi/rmi://nn.nn.nn.nn:8001/jmxrmi
    What might I be missing?

    I've resolved this. At least I was able to configure an authenticated connection. It doesn't use SSL yet, but I'm ok with that for a while.
    Resolving this only required changing the command line parameters for the managed server, and being aware of the "jmxremote.access" and jmxremote.password" files. The following blog article helped a lot: [http://www.dzone.com/links/r/monitoring_your_java_application_with_jmx_part_2.html] .
    I'm now passing the following command-line parameters:
    -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=8888 -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl=false -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=true
    The default "role" configured in "jmxremote.access" is "controlRole", and the "jmxremote.password" file specifies the credentials for that principal. I simply used that principal and credential in JVisualVM, and the connection succeeded.
    And I just used the "host:port" form, not the protocol form.
