  • How to connect a Windows computer to Base Station through Ethernet

I use Road Runner to connect to the internet. My setup is like this.
Roadrunner comes in to the cable modem. My cable runs from the modem to Airport Base Station. My MacBook Pro sees the base station fine and I'm accessing the internet wireless through Airport. All is well there.
My wife has a PC running Windows XP. I put my Airport Extreme disk in the PC and it loaded the software.
I have an ethernet cable plugged into the back of the PC running over to the Base Station to one of the ethernet ports. There is a green light beside the cable on the base station and also on the pc where the cable plugs into it - it blinks off and on on the PC.
Yet, when I get on the PC, I cannot access the internet. As you can probably already guess, I'm not too saavy on the PC. I have restarted the PC and tried all I know to do, but I still can't connect to the internet. I'm sure I'm missing a setting.
Can someone please "hold my hand" and walk me through how to set up the PC? I can't get very far on the PC going into Airport Utility because it says I don't have an internet connection.
Please help! (And talk to me like you're talking to a rock . . )
    Thanks
    Reggie

Check out the following iFelix article to see if it will help getting the Ethernet-connected PC to access the Internet: Connecting a XP PC to a Airport Network via the LAN port of the Airport Extreme Base Station

  • How to connect apple tv to older tv's through dvd player?

Is there a way to connect the apple tv to an older tv through a dvd player or just to the tv?
    thx

No, you have to connect it to the TV. If you don't have an HDTV you would need to find a converter and HDMI is the only thing officially supported on the current model so there's no guarantee it'll work. Some have had success, others haven't

  • How to connect to an iMac in a LAN through Time Capsule as router

    SITUATION:
We have a Time Capsule at work, which we use as a router for a LAN which includes 2 iMacs, 1 PowerBook G4, and an HP Officejet Printer.
The Time Capsule connects to the internet through Ethernet, via a Static IP address. All the computers connect to the internet wirelessly through the Time Capsule, and the printer is wired to the Time Capsule.
We are trying to connect remotely to the computers in the office, keeping in mind that the Time Capsule as a router is in the middle.
    SET-UP WORK DONE SO FAR:
We opened the Airport Utility, selected the Time Capsule, Advanced tab, Port Mapping option and added a device, using the local IP address of the computer we want to make available remotely.
In the Port Mapping Setup Assistant that comes up, we ran three scenarios: (1) left the Service field without a choice once and then (2) with Apple Remote Desktop and (3) Personal File Sharing.
In the first scenario, we chose 49999 as Public and Private TCP Ports (we read the figures could be in an approximate range of 42-65k), while we left the UDP Ports fields blank. In the other two scenarios we left untouched both the UDP and TCP Ports that appear as defaults when the Service field is selected.
We hit the Continue button and the Update button afterwards. The Time Capsule saved the information and restarted.
In the Sharing preference under System Preferences we chose Remote Management and clicked on the Computer Settings... button. We checked the VNC button and included a password.
    REMOTE ACCESS WORK:
When we wanted to access the iMac that we just thought we had set up for remote access using a different computer connected to another network, we could not connect.
We used Chicken of the VNC to try to access the local iMac, using the Time Capsule Static IP address and the VNC password set in the Sharing/Remote Management preference in the iMac. We have been unable to access the local computer connected wirelessly to the Time Capsule so far.
    We get the following message:
    Could not connect to server
    Connection timed out: ()
    Any help out there?
    Rod

The TC is not a streaming device.. it is merely a hard disk mounted inside a router.
That means My Receiver.. whatever that happens to be.. has to be a media device that can play from a network file store.. So there is no settings in Airport utility.. because the TC is too dumb to need to know anything.
BTW the TC is a bad place to store files, as it has no way to back itself up.

    Thanks

Please elaborate 'connect' in this context. This sounds a bit odd namely.
You can invoke a servlet using a plain GET query or a POST query using a <form> element.
If you're saying that you want to use some business logic which is available in a servlet, then you're looking in the wrong direction. Refactor that business logic in a separate class so that a simple Servlet as well as a JSF backing bean can use that logic. Then you can use JSF h:form with commandButton/Link to invoke the backing bean's action which on its turn invokes that logic.

Please update your forum profile with a real handle instead of "914824".
When you have a problem you'll get a faster, more effective response by including as much relevant information as possible upfront. This should include:
    <li>Full APEX version
    <li>Full DB/version/edition/host OS
<li>Web server architecture (EPG, OHS or APEX listener/host OS)
    <li>Browser(s) and version(s) used
    <li>Theme
    <li>Template(s)
    <li>Region/item type(s)
With APEX we're also fortunate to have a great resource in apex.oracle.com where we can reproduce and share problems. Reproducing things there is the best way to troubleshoot most issues, especially those relating to layout and visual formatting. If you expect a detailed answer then it's appropriate for you to take on a significant part of the effort by getting as far as possible with an example of the problem on apex.oracle.com before asking for assistance with specific issues, which we can then see at first hand.
I am going to have over 50 buttons in a page, Why? This would be a most unusual UI paradigm. I've never seen such a page, which suggests that whatever you want to do is normally done another way. Please explain the requirement in more detail.
just wanted to know if its possible to do something like this in java.
Java is not used in programming APEX UI behaviour. Java and JavaScript may share initial syllables, but they are not closely related.
It's possible to achieve a great deal in JavaScript, but a clear definition of the requirements is necessary. Do you mean the buttons should be dynamically generated? If so, yes, this is possible in JavaScript. What would drive the process?
Also, i would like to have dynamic action on it, for example, when the button is pressed, fill a string of text into other items(text field) within the page. Without more detail its not possible to make any specific suggestions. For example, I certainly would not want to create 50+ individual dynamic actions relating to different buttons.

  • How to use an external start button for 6024E w/ sc-2345, I would like it to function like a start button in LabView but I don't know how to connect the external button to the sc-2345's connector block

I am confused as to how to connect my external start botton. I would like it to function like a start button on a front panel of a VI. I would like to use the +5V on pin 14 but I really don't know where to go from here. Any guidence for a novice would be most appreciated.

    phod,
This is the LabVIEW Real-Time forum, so I suggest that in the future that you post this type of question to the Multifunction DAQ forum.
For the simplest solution you will have to connect your button to a digital line of your board, consult the sc-2345 user manual for a diagram of where these lines are exposed. You will have to connect your start button in series with a line that is high, such as your 5V pin or another digital line. Then connect this to a digital line that will be your start trigger.
Your program can poll the digital line that is connected to your button in a while loop and when it goes high, it lets the rest of the program execute. For the programming, I suggest you take a look at the shipping examples that come with LabVIEW. If yo
u have LabVIEW 7.0 go to Help>>Find Examples. Open Hardware Input Output>>Traditional DAQ>>Digital Input and Output>>E Series for some examples of digital I/O programming with E-series boards.
    Hope that gets you started.
