How to connect my tv to apple extreme

what kind of cable needed for connecting the Airport extreme to my Internet ready TV Samsung Smart Class

DirecTV wireless is WAY behind the times.
If the name of your wireless network contains any special characters like an apostrophe, question mark, asterisk, etc.....DirecTV will not be able to connect.
For example, if the name of your current wireless network is:
DTVTECHY's Wireless Network.......then you need to change it to something like.......
dtvtechwireless
In order words, use all normal characters and numbers, with no spaces.

    Hi;
How can I limite the bandwith on Apple extreme for 16 Ipads...like i say 5 Mbs each...
    Thanks

This type of adjustment cannot be performed on the AirPort routers since they do not have the capability to assign a specific amount of bandwidth to a given device.

  • How to connect my ipad2 to apple tv the first time

Having trouble connecting iPad 2 to apple tv.

I always have luck when I enable Home Sharing on both devices and go to the Apple TV and make sure AirPlay is enabled on it. Assuming both on same WiFi network successully, simply double click the home button on your iPad2 to expose the dock, finger swipe from left to right, and there will be an AirPlay icon, click it and available devices on the network that support AirPlay will show up in a list.

  • Cant connect airport express to apple extreme wirelsss network

Just purchased new airport express to extend my wireless network. Current wireless network is on an apple airport extreme bt doesnt reach parts of the house. Installed the software on my imac, plugged the express in, but no connection light flashes yellow. Unplugged the express and plugged it right above the exptreme still no green light on express. Can someone offer suggestions what I am doing wrong or steps I forgot.
On the airport utility I only see the airport extreme. Thank you

If Airport Utility isn't showing the Airport Express, I suggest that you connect an Ethernet cable from your computer to the AE (with the AE plugged in). It should then show up in the Airport Utility. This has worked for me in the past when having trouble detecting the device in Airport Utility over wireless.
You'll need to ensure that your Airport Extreme has "Allow this network to be extended" checked in the wireless settings. You can then configure the Airport Express to extend you wireless network in Airport Utility (you'll need the name / passphrase of your network). A solid green light on the AE will mean that it has connected successfully.

  • How to connect pcs to secured apple network?

My girlfriend has two pcs, one for work and one for personal use.  She is able to connect to my apple network if it is the automatic, unsecured setting but if I setup a secured network it seems to be nearly impossible her to connect.  We have tried the WEP 13 character password, which we understand is almost useless.  We have tried the WPA2 13 character password also.  Does anyone have any knowledge of this problem?  It does not seem to be a very common issue because I am not able to find any answers which make it work yet.

No guarantees, but this worked perfectly on my sister's XP machine.
    On your Mac......
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Select your Apple router and click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab below the row of icons
Change the setting for Wireless Security to WPA/WPA2 Personal
Use an 8 character password consisting only of of numbers and lower case letters with no spaces
    Click Update to save settings
Restart the PC and try to log on.
If still no luck, the Windows FireWall settings likely need to be checked by a PC guy who understands them. The anti-virus program may also be blocking the connection.

  • How to connect on distance to airport extreme

I cant connect in the office to my airport extreme @ home.
    What sould I do?

First, if the office network is administered by IT folks, make sure that they have set things up to allow this type of connection. If they have a firewall set up to block these types of connections....very common....you can be doing everything right and it will still not work.
I assume that you have a hard drive connected to the AirPort Extreme that you want to access from a remote location, correct?
There are 3 basic methods to access the hard drive from a remote location. See this User Tip from forum expert Tesserax for more details:

  • How to connect printer wirelessly to Aiport Extreme?

I have just installed an AirPort Extreme. It is fixed to the ceiling. The online instructions say to plug your printer into the USB port of the unit to register it, but I cannot reach the port now. Can it be registered wirelessly?

    Can it be registered wirelessly?
Yes, if your printer has the capability to connect to a wireless network using wireless only.
Follow the installation instructions provided by the printer manufacturer for this type of installation.
If you are not sure if your printer has this type of capability, post back with the make and model number of the printer, so we can do some research to learn more about your printer.

  • Mac mini Leopard  connects to Apple extreme BUT XP WONT CONNECT HELP PLEASE

*I have a new mac mini intel 1.83 ghz Core 2 Duo I used bootcamp to partition Windows XP pro SP2*
*I was initially easily able to connect to my wireless Apple extreme in either Leopord 10.5.4 or Windows XP.*
*I then installed all the new (100) security updates for SP2 and now Windows XP sees my airport extreme but for some reason can't connect. I set up the Wizard using a manual network key and using the same password for my network connection. When I startup in Leopard 10.5.4 no problems always connected to Airport extreme. But no connection on Windows XP to wirelessx Apple extreme.*
*I wonder if anyone has a solution, maybe a detailed explanation how to set up with the Windows XP network wizard?*
*Does the Apple AirPort Utility Setup 5.3.2 for windows help in any way?*
    *Thanks in advance!*

I have no idea what happened. I plugged in my USB flash drive in an attempt
to run the Apple Airport utility for windows to see if that would get me connected, but just as I plugged in the USB drive my wireless connection flashed and said CONNECTED and I've been good for the past 12 hours. I never had to use the Apple Airport utility.
I just wish I knew what happened in case I lose this connection and have to try & reconnect....I guess I could always try inserting a usb drive!

  • HT4145 I want to set up two apple extreme in same location wired how do i set it up

How can i set up two apple extreme in same location
Wired from the main one two the second

Connect an Ethernet cable between one of the available LAN (opposing arrows) ports on the first AirPort Extreme to the WAN (circle of dots) port on the second Extreme.
Reconfigure the second Extreme as a bridge, using the AirPort Utility as follows:
    Run the AirPort Utility.
Select the second Extreme, and then, select Edit.
    Select the Network tab.
Change Router Mode to: Off (Bridge Mode)
By default each Extreme will broadcast its own wireless network. In this case, you will have four (one on each band x 2) Wi-Fi networks.

  • How to connect a "Clear Network" Modem to my Airport Xtreme?

Hello friends. I recently purchased the clear network modem. I need to know how to connect it to my Airport Extreme and get my local network at home working with 4 computers. Thank you!

Except that I don't know much about the Extreme, it should be simple.
Power down the computers, the Extreme, & the Clear Modem, wait 5 minutes, connect an Ethernet cable, (it is one with Ethernet right?), from the Clear Modem to the WAN port of the Extreme, power up the Modem, wait 3 minutes & power up the Extreme, wait 2 minutes & power up the Mac(s).
Windows directions, but basically the same to setup the Extreme to hand out IPs...

  • How do I get the user name and password for the Apple Extreme Router to connect to a Slingbox

How do I get the user name and password for the Apple Extreme Router to set up my Slingbox?  It will not accept the Apple Extreme Name and password.

The AirPort Extreme does not have a User Name, but it does have a device name and device password, which you may have already tried.
There is also a Wireless Network Name and Wireless Network Password for the AirPort Extreme, which might be what the Slingbox is looking for if you are trying to connect it to your wireless network.
There are no other "user names" or "passwords" on the AirPort Extreme.
You established the device name, device password, wireless network name and wireless network password when you originally configured the AirPort Extreme.
If you cannot remember these, you will need to perform a Soft Rest to reset everything. Follow the instructions in this Apple support document:

  • How to set up 6th Generation AirPort Extreme to cable modem as a wireless router and then connect my 3rd Generation Time Capsule to AirPort Extreme as a wireless extender?

What is the best way to set up my 6th Generation AirPort Extreme (A1521) to my cable modem as a wireless router and then connect my 3rd Generation Time Capsule (A1355) to my AirPort Extreme as a wireless extender? I live in a small 1 story house and I currently have the Airport Extreme connected to my cable modem in the living room and the Time Capsule plugged into the wall in my bedroom. I am able to wirelessly connect to the internet using the AirPort Extreme as my router and I can also do wireless back ups to my Time Capsule. My problem is that my connection seems to be really slow! My 1TB Time Capsule back up is only half way complete and it has been 3 days! My computer has been backing up all day and night for almost 72 hours and its still not even 75% complete. I have backed up to this Time Capsule in the past and it never took this long. I am thinking that when I set up my AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule using AirPort Utility I must have set it up incorrectly or something.
How do I set up my Airport Extreme and Time Capsule for the fastest possible internet speed and back up speed?
    Thank you,

AirPort Utility 5.6 works with AirPort Extreme 802.11g base stations.
It works with N version airports.
It will also show details of the AC model but cannot be used for the setup.. mostly.
I purposely got the new 6th Gen Airport Extreme so my internet connection would be a lot faster!
Your network will be much faster when you have AC client directly connected to the AE. Older client will go no faster.. but what is worse.. extend wireless is mixing new and old wireless standards.. guess what one wins.. OLD.. So when you extend wireless.. you have no improvement whatsoever. This whole post is about extending wireless.. so you cannot extend to older equipment and do any better.. maybe slightly better signal although from your comments that isn't happening either.
I would rather not have to use an ethernet at all with the TC and I don't know EOP adapters are!
If you do not use ethernet then you are going to be forced to accept slow speed.
EOP (ethernet over power). Also called homeplug in the US.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HomePlug
Provides a method of networking over power cabling that already exists in your house.
So what your saying is for the fastest internet speed and back up speed possible I should keep my Airport Extreme plugged into my Modem and keep my TC set up as a wireless extender? Then when I want to do back ups I should plug an ethernet cable from my TC to my MacBook Pro?
    To spell this out.
A wireless link to an extended device will go very slowly.. if it is not direct.
So lets say you have a laptop sitting in the lounge.. Your connection goes.. Laptop- - - - - AE- - - - -TC.
That means two wireless links.. wireless has this nasty half duplex and single channel nature.. it can send or receive (Tx or Rx) but not at the same time.
Ethernet by contrast does both at once. It is full duplex.
Wireless can talk to one client at a time.. so if there are multiple items using wireless lets say 4 devices.. then your computer gets a 25% time slice. Since wireless cannot handle multiple simultaneous connections.
Ethernet by contrast can connect multiple computers to multiple destinations at the same time.. all transmitting and receiving at full speed.
When you put all this together.. there are a couple of rules for fast connection.
    1. Use ethernet at all times. Where you cannot use ethernet use anything but wireless.. eg EOP (homeplug) at least to try and get rid of wireless.
    2. Where you must use wireless use it sparingly and make sure it is never more than one hop.. ie never have an extend wireless (repeater is more usual term). Repeater will cause instant slowdown of 50% and maybe up to 75% just because it is so inefficient.
    3. Fastest wireless is 5ghz but it has very short range.. you need to be up close and personal to get it working.
Apple routers however unless you do manual setup I suggest are set to connect to best signal strength not best speed. It will therefore use 2.4ghz at 25% less speed than 5ghz because it is 1db better signal.. this madness means you need to setup manually for the best setup.

  • How can I verify that my Apple Express is "absolutely" extending my Apple Extreme?

    Greetings,
I purchased an Apple Express to extend my Apple Extreme due to intermittent Wi-Fi signal in part of my home.
I connected it and it automatically configured the Express to extend my Apple Extreme.
My question is how exactly can I verify absolutely that my devices (laptops, iPad's, etc.) are connecting through the Express and NOT the Extreme as they were before. (the Express is closer to all devices than the Extreme).
There has to be a way to verify this, however, I can't find it through searching the web.
To note, signal bars on devices have not and do not change.  Meaning they have 3 bars with, and 3 bars without, regardless.
    Thank you in advance.

For Windows-based computers, try entering the following at the Command Prompt: netsh wlan show networks mode=Bssid|findstr "BSSID"  You can also try: netsh wlan show all
This should provide you with a list of all Wireless Access Points that is detected by your PC.
For the iPad, I am not aware of any built-in apps that will show this. However, apps, like Net Analyzer should do the trick. There's also a Net Analyzer Lite version for free.

If the AirPort Extreme is allowing other devices to connect, it is not the issue.
