How to connect my wifi printer to my MacBook Pro

Hello - Could you please advise re: how to connect my HP Deskjet 3050 to my MacBook Pro?  I gather I have to connect the printer to my Wifi network first, but the instructions aren't clear for a Mac.
Please help.  Thank you -

Configure it directly while connected via USB first generally works.
However here is what Canon support has.

  • Can't connect to wifi at home on MacBook Pro or iPhone 4S

I recently moved and got set up with a new (cable) internet provider. Since that time, I have been unable to connect to wireless on my MacBook Pro or my iPhone 4S. I can connect via ethernet. I can connect via other people's wireless (coffee shops, library, etc.). Sometimes, I get a "connection timeout error occurred" message. Other times, it looks like wifi is connected, but when I try to visit a URL on a browser, the blue bar moves about a centimeter across the address bar and stops. Email doesn't work, etc. The technician who set up my internet tried for nearly three hours to figure out why it wasn't working and concluded it must be a problem with my computer. It seems odd that I would only have problems at home, but I'm not an expert. Hoping someone here is, and can help. I work from home so this is rather frustrating (especially since connecting via ethernet means sitting in the living room instead of my office and tempting the dog to trip on the cord). Thanks for reading!

What is the make & model of the new wireless router that you ISP has provided you? Are you able to administer it if needed?
For the MacBook Pro, try the following, in order, until (hopefully) resolved:
    1a. Delete Preferred Network(s)
    System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced > Wi-Fi tab
Under "Preferred Networks," delete the network(s) you regularly use from the list.
    1b. Delete AirPort Keychain Entries
Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilties.
In the windows on the left side: Select login for Keychains and "All Items" for Category.
Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for any "AirPort network password" entries...and delete them.
    1c. Add Preferred Network(s)
    System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced > Wi-Fi tab
Add the preferred network(s) using the "+" button.
Restart or log out then back in.
    2. Move System Configuration Files
(Note: You will have to reestablish your network connections settings.)
    Go to /Library/Preferences
Move the SystemConfiguration folder to the desktop.
Restart your Mac. (Note: OS X will rebuild the files that are now sitting on your desktop. If this doesn't resolve the issue, you can move the folder back to it's original location.)

  • Connection to WiFi for my Apple MacBook Pro

First time I am having this hastle.  I am in France, not helpful out in the middle of country and no assistance.  I cannot connect to Wifi.  My hubby's computer worked ok with $ sign in front of code for network.  I have just got icon with waves and with exclamation mark in it .... so something is not configured right.  My AirPort just has Self-Assigned IP in it.  I have tried all sorts of ways to work this, even copying whats in my Hubby's computer but cannot add Router address... I am very perplexed, never happened to me before and am just at the end there.... Anyone suggest what I can do to fix this please.
Kind regards... I am sure it is something so simple... Thank you.

In addition to Linc Davis suggestion also try the following:
Change your router channel number.  Most times this works & is all you have to do.

  • How to connect a shotgun mic to my Macbook pro?

I recently purchased the "Audio-Technica ATR-6550 Video Camera Condenser Shotgun Microphone"
(http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATR-6550-Condenser-Shotgun-Microphone/dp/B0 02GYPS3M). I need this mic to record audio into Adobe Premiere on my Macbook pro (or on voice memos on my iphone). I'm pretty sure it's a mono mic. However, even with an audio to stereo adapter, none of my apple products recognize that I have connected an external mic. What am I missing? Are their other adapters I should buy (preferably from Amazon)

Hmmm....it should. If it doesn't even show up in System Preferences, no application will see it. Do you have any other devices that you can test the microphone with, for example do you have a video camera you can plug it into and does it work there?

  • How to connect an infocus projector LP530 to MacBook Pro

We are trying to run slide show using an older IN focus projector (LP 530). .  Our lab top is a 3 year mac book pro . It's not recognizing.

    Hello Alliseeisgold2014,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Please see the troubleshooting steps below to help resolve this issue of your projector not connecting to your MacBook Pro:
No video or no signal, image distortion, "snow," or flickering
    Check connections
When using an external display be sure to check the following:
If you're using an Apple notebook, confirm the AC power cable or adapter is securely connected to the computer and the cable providing power to the display is also secure. It is always good to have your notebook connected to AC power when an external display is in use.
Confirm display adapters are fully seated in their respective connections and that they are supported models and for the computer and display. Refer to these articles to assist you with adapter compatibility and further configuration information:
    Monitor and Display Adapter Table
About Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapters
Apple Mini DisplayPort adapters: Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Thunderbolt ports and displays: Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Remove all display cable extenders, KVM switches, or other like devices and retest to determine if the issue is resolved.
Try unplugging the video adapter or cable and then plug it back in.
If more than one video adapter is in use (or "daisy-chained"), troubleshoot by using only one adapter.
Example: A mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter connected to a DVI to HDMI adapter is an unsupported configuration because there is a series of adapters in use.
If available, try using a different display and or adapter (or use a different connector by using DVI instead of VGA, for instance).
    Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
    Reset the resolution
Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
    Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
    Restart your computer.

  • How to connect an acoustic electric guitar to macbook pro

whats to best way to use an acoustic electric guitar with garage band without a buying additional gear, macbook pro. thanks

"whats to best way to use an acoustic electric guitar with garage band without a buying additional gear"
I record acoustic/electric guitars & vocals to my MacBook Pro (Logic Pro 9) with exteremly good results........ BUT  my advice would be, don't spoil a good job for a little expense!
I use a USB audio interface (see link below) that provides facilities for connecting any sort of audio signal and monitor facilities for overdubbing multitracks etc.
There are many such units available, but I would thoroughly recommend the one below.
    Good luck...........happy recording!!

  • IPod 3G how to connect it to my non-firewire macbook pro?

I have an iPod 3G with a firewire cable. My computer is a MacBook Pro 13" 2010 without a firewire port. I have a usb connecting thing from a newer ipod nano but the iPod 3G doesn't connect to the computer nor charge. What should I do?

    Dan,
If your MB Pro is a 2010 model it should still have a Firewire 800 port.   Since the iPod uses a firewire 400 connector, you'll need to purchase an adapter (FW 800 to FW400) such as this one.

  • How do I change the printer settings on macBook pro OSX v10.8.1?

I am trying to print a webpage but i want it in duplex format (two pages front and back on one sheet). The default is set to "one sided". I can't seem to change the presets (under presets > show presets > copies and pages > settings and value). Usually we can change the value, ie. the number of copies and change the format to "duplex". I can't seem to change the value.

I am running Leopard OS in 64 bit mode. Everytime I want to run my Cisco VPN client I reboot it in 32 bit mode by holding the two keys (don't remember what two keys at the moment).  I am looking for another way to run my Cisco VPN.  I don't see the check box labeled "Open in 32-bit mode" .  The only thing I see is "Open in Rosetta" or something like that.  Is the check box "Open in 32-bit mode" only show in Lion X OS?

  • Can't connect to wifi printer.

Since upgrading to BT Infinity I haven't been able to connect to my wifi printer (Epson Stylus SX535WD). The new home hub is up and running but I can't see how to connect to the printer. When I go to the printer's set-up mode and select 'Wifi Auto-Connect', I get the error message: 'No computer found. Check wifi/network device and condition. Try again.'
I tried deselecting the printer from the Mac's printer list, with the idea of adding it again, but now no printers appear at all when I press the + button. So first I need to add the printer once again and then find how to connect to it. I'm using OS X (10.8.5). Any ideas anyone?

Follow Apples instructions for installing a WI-FI printer in OS X Mountain Lion: Set up a printer to print wirelessly. If you have to first use the Reset Printing System feature.

  • I have an Ipad and Iphone but I don't have an Airprint, only a WIFI printer,my question is if I connect the wifi printer to Airport express, can I print from Ipad and Iphone ?

I have an Ipad and Iphone but I don't have an Airprint at home but only a WIFI printer, my question is if I connect the wifi printer to Airport express, can I print from Ipad and Iphone ? Please help me if anyone knows about this.

Unfortunately, connecting a non-AirPrint-enabled printer to an AirPort base station's USB port will not make it AirPrint-ready.
You will need to use another solution, like Printopia, to be able to print to this printer from an iOS device.

    1) Connect the printer to the USB port on the AirPort Extreme
    2) Download and install Bonjour Print Services for Windows on the PC
