How to Connect N800 to Blackberry 8310?

I'm having trouble connecting a N800 tablet to my Blackberry 8310 phone to access the internet. My operator is AT&T.
The N800 is able to pair with the 8310 and it's been updated to the latest OS2008 software using the Nokia Software Wizard.
I've also tried setting up the Edge Data and AT&T Internet profiles in Cellular Operator Setup Wizard on the N800 through the Connection Manager settings app...neither profile works. The error message reads: "Internet Connection failed. Try Again?"
Is there a special profile for Blackberry Data or some other Blackberry service setting I need to make to use my 8310 as modem?

The Blackberry 8310 does not have a modem function, hence your difficulty in trying to obtain an internet connection with the N800, you will need a compatible Bluetooth enabled Nokia to succesfully connect your N800 to the internet.
The only blackberry model that could be used as a modem was the 8707 and that was simply because it had 3G.
Hope this helps

  • How to Install BlackBerry 4.5 System Software in the Blackberry 8310?

I followed the instructions to download and install the BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.5 and the BlackBerry Device Software 4.5 for BlackBerry 8310. This was done correctly and the installation was successful.
When I opened the Desktop Manager to install the Device Software on the phone, there was no software to install.
It was installed on my computer but could not be installed on the phone. The software appears in the list of programs installed on the  installation and uninstallation manager in the control panel of the computer, but does not appear on the Desktop Manager to be installed.
    What steps should I follow?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Close Desktop Manager.
    Go to folder: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Apploader
    and delete Vendor.xml file
Now, connect the device and launch BB Desktop Manager.

  • How to connect WPS (BlackBerry phone) on wi-fi with airport express ?

My boyfriend (not sold to Apple yet) wants to connect his BlackBerry phone on our wi-fi network.  Because it is WPS, it detects the network but I we don't know how to connect.  We need help !!!

If I were to connect the AirPort Extreme to my modem (DPC3825) via an Ethernet cable and then (wirelessly) connect my new iMac to the netowrk, would I receive 802.11ac or just b/g/n still?
802.11ac would be received by the iMac if it connected to the AirPort Extreme wireless signal....and....the iMac was in close proximity to the AirPort Extreme.
802.11ac uses the 5 GHz frequency, and these signals only work well then the router and computer are in the same room or have a line-of-sight relationship  to each other, or very close to that ideal.
In addition, when I connect the AirPort Extreme to my modem, will it create two networks
The AirPort Extreme will create a network with two bands or frequencies.....one  2.4 GHz for "b", "g" and "n" wireless devices and another band, the 5 GHz signal for "n" and "ac" devices.
If you assign the same name to  the AirPort Extreme network that you use for your existing network, and both routers are using the same wireless security settings and password, then everything will act like one "big" network.
If you assign a different name to the AirPort Extreme wireless network, then you will have two different networks....one produced by your existing router and the other produced by the AirPort Extreme.
If you move from one area to another, you will have to log off of one network and log back onto the other network.

  • How can I tether my Blackberry over USB cable (to sync info)? [SOLVED]

Firstly, I have to thank all of you for making this such a great community and excellent guide to getting almost anything working on Linux - this is what makes Archlinux the best distro IMHO.  I have hardly ever needed to post anything here because the answers are almost always either in the wiki or the forums.
Lately though, I received a Blackberry 8310 and wanted to tether it to use its data plan here in Ecuador.  After following http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Blu … GPRS_Howto using a small USB bluetooth adaptor, this has worked well and the connection stays up nicely, though very slow (to be expected).  Blueman is a great program!  Looking at improving my connection speeds (and reducing my latency), I am now trying to get the phone tethered via a USB cable to the phone, rather than over-the-air (Bluetooth).
The problem I am having is that I cannot establish which device exactly is the USB port connecting to?  Before this phone, this worked fine on my Nokia E51 setting the modem to be /dev/ACM0.  On Nokia, I would connect the phone, select PCSuite mode and 'sudo wvdial movistar' or my /etc/ppp/peers/movistar script would work fine.  Blackberry however is a whole different kind of animal.  I connect it with a standard USB cable, select 'no' to mass-storage-mode on the phone, and can see it in lsusb fine but the only device I seem to be able to use is /dev/tty2 but modem not initialising.
How can I be certain which device I am using?  Will post some lsusb and dmesg.log out put when I get home to give you more info.
thanks for any guidance you can give me,

Well, haven't got much further here unfortunately, though I have more logs and debug information now:
First, I connect the blackberry to the USB port and run 'lsusb':
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0fca:0004 Research In Motion, Ltd.

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
so I have my blackberry device listed by the looks of things..
I then run (for more info):

Maybe the blackberry required 'usb_modeswitch' - though I could not work out how to use this command
Any ideas out there?  Is there a simple way for me to probe USB devices in use?  As far as I can tell it IS /dev/tty2 but I need to confirm this.
    Many thanks,

  • Blackberry 8310 not showing reply or send in sms text options menu

I have a blackberry 8310. iam able to recieve sms text messages but when i click to on options, there is no "reply" option in the menu for me to be able to reply to the text. The chip works fine in other phones so that tells me something in the phone is not set right. There is no option for me to even compose and fresh sms text message. Please help?

    Here ya' go:
    1. Get a good backup of your device: BB device backup (I keep all my backups in a separate folder created for that purpose so they are always in one place and easy to find.)
    2. Download the most recent version of device software for your carrier: Downloading BB device software
    3. Reinstall the device software: Clean reload of device software
    4. Pull the battery out with the device ON. Wait about a minute and put the battery back in. Let the BB completely restart.
    5. Once you have the device OS successfully installed you will then need to reinstall any 3rd party apps you currently have on your device: Install applications using the app loader tool
    6. Complete another battery pull routine after each 3rd party app installation to reclaim memory and refresh your BB.
Let us know how it goes.

  • Can not access the media card files Blackberry 8310 - HELP

Can not access the media card files Blackberry 8310.
I had a battery drain problem. The unit would only last 16 hours before completely drained. Purchased a new battery with the same result. I figured that I should try a complete reset so I did a hard wipe. Once that was done and I loaded the unit back up and returned online, the battery drain problem was resolved but now I can not access the media card.
     Here are the messages:
“A media card has been inserted that contains encrypted content which will be unaccessible by this device”
I can see the files. I have transferred them to my PC via the SD card but I can not open them. Here are the settings:
     Media card support – ON
Encryption Mode: - Security Password & Device
    Encrypt Media Files – YES
Mass Storage Mode Support – OFF
Please note – I can not change the encryption mode since it is set by policy
Security Options – General Settings – Content Protection – Disabled
The version of Desktop Manage I am using is 4.2.1.8. When I try to use the Media Manager to move the files, I get an error message and can’t move the file. If I access the file on the card and try to display it, I get:
     Unable to display file /media card/ pictures/ing000000xx.jpg.rem
Here is what I have tried (from the advice on this board):
     1)     Read the files directly off the media card – No good
    2)     Create a “new” folder on the media card and move a file into it then try to read it – No good
    3)     Email the file then read it – No good
    4)     Reset Encryption mode to off then try – Can’t do it – IT Policy setting
    5)     Be sure that the password was set the same as before the wipe (setting is password & device) – Can’t do it – The Blackberry prevents me from using an old password.
So I think I can’t read the files because I can’t replicate the encryption key. Could that be right? My problem is that I do not understand why this would be the case. It is still the same device and since it knows what the old password was (because it would prevent me from using it again), why would it not generate a key to access the files?
All I am trying to get off the card are pictures on my 6 year old … some are priceless. Can someone help me do this? One would think that this should not be this hard but from all the postings I have found, it seems that it is. And yes, shame on me for not moving the files before I did the reset (THAT will never happen again!) but this being unrecoverable is unconscionable given how many seem to find themselves in this situation.
Thanks for any help you can offer!

Not sure why you couldn't see them using mass storage mode. Did you have the pics stored on your media card? Try going to media-menu-explore-media card-blackberry-pictures See what the extension is on your pics. If any have the extension such as .jpg.rem they are encrypted.

Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan enabled on your account with your carrier or mobile provider?
You must, in order to get the RIM push email functions you are looking for, as well as additional BlackBerry data services such as the internet browser, Facebook for BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger, and much more.
So, call Virgin and inquire about having the BlackBerry Data Plan added to your account.
    Good luck.

  • Installation of Blackberry Desktop Software fails: looking for Blackberry 8310.msi file

I cannot successfully install and use any version of the Blackberry Desktop software.  The problem started when I tried to install the desktop software on my new computer from a file I downloaded and stored on an external hard drive that had been attached to my old computer.  The install/uninstall programs lists Blackberry desktop 4.2.2.  It appeared to install correctly, but when I try to use it,  I get a message saying the program is trying to use a network resource that is not available, and looks in a temp directory for this "Blackberry 8310.msi" file.  There is also a program listed as "Blackberry v4.2.2 for the 8310 series wireless handheld"  When I try to uninstall it, it looks for that same .msi file.
I'd like to be able to sync my calendar with my phone.
Does anyone know what I should do?  I followed the clean uninstall directions, and that didn't make a difference.
    Thanks.

Xandrex, I am having the same problem (along with a few others).  I hate to sound like a novice, but how do I decompress into a folder other than temp?  Whether installing from the website, or saving to my desktop and then installing, it unzips without giving me a choice of where to put the files.
    Hello,
I don't have the install at home so my answer will be approximate. when you get the .exe file, it is in fact a zip file with a small launcher that knows it has to unzip the stuff in your temp file.
What you need is a decompression tool to decompress without that launcher. You can install 7Zip that is quite good for those things.
You can also try WinZIP or winRAR or winACE but those are not free-of-charge.
     http://www.7-zip.org/
Once you have installed this tool, just open 7Zip and browse to the .exe file. click on it, there should be a button "Extract". Choose a folder (somewhere on your Desktop for example) and wait for the decompression to finish.

  • Blackberry Media Sync fails to connect to my Blackberry

Everytime I try to use the Media Sync it fails to connect. Ive tried plenty of times and I still cant get it to work. Ive checked my usb connection and its all fine. i can do anything else but that.
    I have the blackberry 8320
How do i get it to connect?

    Thanks for your response.
I have desktop mgr 4.7 and BB plugged in and online. When i then click on the blackberry media sync function to upload my music from iTunes. It knows that my BB is still connected as it states my PIN No. in the top right hand corner, however as it is looking for my playlists, an error pops up and states "Blackberry Media Sync failed to connect to your Blackberry device. Click Retry to try again or Cancel to disconnect". If i click retry the same error comes up.
I am wondering if you can only assign one BB PIN to the Media Sync as it is linked to iTunes, similar to what Apple's restrictions are with having multiple iPods syncronising on the software.
Hope this makes sense, i was thinking i should send a snap shot of the screen into BlackBerry though can't find an email address to shoot it too.
    Thoughts?

  • "Unable to connect to the BlackBerry ID server. Please try again. (50500)"

We have a user that is continually getting asked to verify his blackberry ID. Whenever the device turns on, tries to access apps etc.
    Whenever he types in his correct Blackberry ID details (verified as we are able to login at http://au.blackberry.com/bbid.html without any issues, both on PC and from the devices browser itself) we are met with the following error;
Unable to connect to the BlackBerry ID server. Please try again. (50500)
We have tried nearly every possible way to get around this, tried seperate BBID's (none work), different networks, resetting passwords, clearing browser cache, removing wifi networks, battery pulls etc etc. We were resigned to the fact that the device would have to be wiped however we cant even connect it to Link to take a backup without it saying "please sign in with your blackberry id on your device" within the Link window in order to backup certain stuff.
Can anyone recommend anything we can do to either fix this issue, or try and allow us to take a full backup - (note; we have already tried disabling all networks on the device and no internet connectivity on the PC its connected to and trying to run a backup as well but to no avail).

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Here is a KB that discusses that error:
KB33916 "Unable to connect to the BlackBerry ID Server (50500)" is displayed when attempting to change the BlackBerry ID Password or Recovery Question on the BlackBerry 10 smartphone
Unfortunately, it has nothing useful (except for at least knowing that BB knows of the issue).
You might try some of the things from this "sticky" post:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-World/How-to-regain-access-to-your-BBID/td-p/25467...
Otherwise, you might need to ring up your mobile service provider and convince them to escalate you to formal BlackBerry support.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Can't delete email from appointment calendar from blackberry 8310?

I currently have a blackberry 8310 with at&t. I deleted an email that i don't use anymore, but it's still showing up in my appointment calendar, how do i get rid of this?

I was hoping that it would be a temporary issue but it is still continuing 24 hours later. I'm fairly certain that it is not an issue with the Mail client because I can delete email from my other accounts; still can't delete email from my .Mac account. I continue to receive the error message in my original post.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
Thanks m.bode for responding to my question.
