How to connect Photosmart C4795 to Wireless Network - Mac OSX 10.8.4

I am desperately confused here!  When I bought the printer 2-ish years ago I was able to set it up and have it connected to my network no problem.  Since then I have moved and updated my OS to Mountain Lion and lost my installation CD.  As of now, this is where things stand.
When I turned the printer on and connected it to my iMac via the USB cable, the computer found it and installed it with no issues.  I can print with no issues when the USB cable is plugged in.
Using the printers built in display, I have run the HP Network Configuration and the Wireless Network Test.  The printer can see my network, but it won't connect to it.  I have no bloody idea where I need to go to enter my network password so the printer can get online.
I've manually downloaded the HP Driver found at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907  and that put the HP Utility on my computer (which was already there) but I don't see any place in the utility software that would let me enter my network password or even configure network settings for the printer.
My router is an Apple Airport Extreme, and the firmware is up to date.  Everything on my computer seems to be up to date.  I just cannot for the life of me figure out how to get this thing online.  Any help would be greatly appreciated =)

Yup, there is no way to install your printer using OS X 10.8, sorry.
However, there are alternatives.  Here is the easiest way:
1. On the front of the printer: Setup [Scan] > Wireless > Restore Defaults.
2. In the same Wireless menu, start WPS Pushbutton.
3. On your Mac go to Applications > Utilities > Airport Utility.  Choose your Airport and click Edit.
4. In the menu bar at the top of your screen go to Base Station > Add WPS Printer.
5. Choose the FIrst Attempt mode, then Continue.
Now your printer should be connected to your wireless network.  Next, go to System Prefs > Print & Scan, click the '+' sign to add your printer.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.
I am employed by HP

  • Cannot connect Photosmart C4780 to wireless network

    Hi.
I have a HP Photosmart C4780 printer that I'm trying to connect to our wireless network, from my Mac (OS X 10.8.4)
I am trying to install the printer on my MacBook using the CD provided with the printer.  The software installs, and then I get stuck at the setup. I get the message "No Wireless Network Discovered". I check the box saying " type in our network name, and get the message "Device Not Connected: To configure the network settings of the selected device, please connect it temporarily via USB. The device can be disconnected from the USB once the network settings are transferred."  I plug the USB cable into my Mac, hit "OK", then "Continue".
Now the message I get is: "Network Unavailable: The selected Wi-Fi Network "xxx" is not within the reach of the device." (Note: the device is about a foot away from the router).  Hitting "Retry" yeilds the same error message - and I'm stuck.
The wireless function on the printer is on. I restored the network default settings on the printer. The router is a D-Link DIR-826L Wireless N600 Dual Band Gigabit Cloud Router.  The router is new to us - we had no issues with our old D-Link router (but it died so had to be replaced).
    Any help would be appreciated!

    cmd1979,
In order to get this installed wirelessly you will need three things
    1.) Windows OS system
    2.)USB cord
3.) Full feature software from the HP website
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&lc=en&product=3794615&
You can install the software on the windows system and install it USB. Then you will be able to convert the USB to wireless through the HP software. The printer will then be on the network. On the mac you will go to Settings->Print and scan->Add printer->Select your printer from the list->Choose add.
Let me know how this works for you.

  • How to connect Apple TV to wireless network needing two passwords?

The device will connect initially just fine, and I type in the first password and it connects. The issue with the network is that after typing in the initial password you need to open a web browser to type in a second password, kind of like some hotels require you to do. I read somewhere that you can call the internet provider and have them add your MAC/wifi address for your Apple TV straight into the network for connection, so my apartment manager called the internet provider to do so, but claims they won't do such a thing.
Anyone have a different solution? Connection through a computer or external device? I don't have a clue what else could be possible since my computer/phone can see my Apple TV but the Apple TV can't see other devices because it's not actually connected to the internet. I'm out of options!
Help is much appreciated, thank you!!!

it take a bit of skills and knowledge to setup
so read up on it and give it a go
    or give up
or ask somebody you know who got some skills to show you

  • I have an airport express and want to know how to set up two different wireless networks. One with 5GHZ and one with 2.4GHZ so different devices can connect to either.

I have an airport express and want to know how to set up two different wireless networks. One with 5GHZ and one with 2.4GHZ so different devices can connect to either. I have an iphone 4 that will not connect to 5ghz.
    thank you!

Your AirPort Express is already providing two separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, but each band is using the same wireless network name.
This is the default setup for the AirPort Express, which is recommended for most users. The theory here is that devices will automatically connect to the best quality signal based on their capabilities and distance in relation to the AirPort Express.
It is possible to assign a different name to the 5 GHz band, and then "point" devices at that network to connect. Some users swear by this option.....(I am not one of them).... but you might want to give it a try to see how it works for you.
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    Click on the AirPort Express
Click Edit in the smaller window that appears
Click the Wireless tab at the top of the next window
Click Wireless Options near the bottom of the next window
Enter a check mark next to 5 GHz Name.....which will automatically add "5 GHz" to the network name....so you can identify it
Click Save, then click Update and wait a full minute for the Express to restart
Now you will need to "point" your 5 GHz capable devices at the 5 GHz network name.  2.4 GHz devices will connect to your "other" network name.

  • How do I set up a wireless network at home??

    Hi,
I am new to Mac's. I want to set up a wireless network at home, but I have not got a clue about AirPort, what it is or what it does!?! I am getting a new Mac, but my wife is currently using a Dell Windows laptop and our daughter is using a Windows PC. How do I set up a wireless broadband network at home which works with my Mac and my familys PC's? What do I need to buy and what do I need to do with them? I already have a broadband connection at home. Currently, my wife's PC is connected directly to the broadband modem (via an ethernet cable) that was supplied by the brodband company when I signed up to broadband.
Thanks for all your help with this.

scooter has provided links to Apple's pages for the AirPort Express and AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS).
Both of these devices are IEEE 802.11g wireless routers (also called base stations). If you have an Ethernet connection to the Internet (for example DSL or cable modem), you can connect either of these devices directly to that connection and create a wireless network. Since Ethernet and IEEE 802.11g are worldwide standards you can connect any compatible device (including PCs running Windows).
Every computer needs a unique IP address. You can think of an IP address as a street address for your house. A unique address guarantees that items addressed to you get to you.
Typically ISPs provide users with a single (one) public IP address. A public IP address is visible to anyone on the Internet. A router uses the single IP address provided by the ISP and creates multiple local (non-public) IP addresses for you computers. This allows you to use multiple computers.
If you need to connect both wireless and Ethernet computers you will need the AEBS. The AEBS provides a separate LAN port for Ethernet computers.
BTW, you can accomplish the same thing with any inexpensive wireless router.
The advantage of the AEBS over other routers is (a) built-in 56k modem for connecting to a dial-up ISP and (b) USB port for a single compatible printer.
The advantage of the AirPort Express over other routers is (a) sound output port for streaming music to a stereo and (b) USB port for a single compatible printer.

  • Can't connect AE to existing wireless network

I can't get my AE to connect to my existing wireless network. I saw the other thread on this and followed those steps, but it didn't work. Here's what I did:
    1. Connected the AE to my D-Link DIR-655 wireless router via ethernet cable.
    2. Opened Airport Utility and established a connection to the AE.
    3. Renamed the AE and entered a password.
    4. In the "wireless" tab, I selected "join existing network", chose my wireless network, selected the security type (WPA Personal) and entered the password.
    5. In the "music" tab, I named the speakers and entered a password.
So far so good. I clicked "update" and the AE restarted. After a while I received an error message informing me that the base station could no longer be detected. According to the directions posted in the other thread, this is actually supposed to be a sign that the AE is now in client mode and all is well.
I unplugged the ethernet cable from the AE and router and then went to the other room. I plugged the AE into the speakers and then plugged the AE into the wall.
However, instead of a green light all I have is a flashing amber light, even after several minutes. No connection.
I reset the AE and repeated the steps above, to no avail. Still a flashing amber light.
    Any ideas?

I'm having a similar issue. My AE is connected directly to a Netgear WGR614v4 router, and I run through all the steps you mentioned. When I choose to update the settings to the AE, I get the same "error" you mentioned about the AE not being found, and I also took that as a sign that I'm in client mode. I moved the AE to the other room, connected my mini cable to the stereo, then plugged the AE back into the wall. The AE runs through its setup and eventually gets a solid green light, so I'm thinking all is well.
The problem is that I then log back into the AirPort Utility on my laptop and the AE is not shown in the top left like it should be. After doing a bit of reading, I've figured out that I can manually find it by going to File>Configure Other and entering the AE's IP address and password. Then I get a window showing the details of the AE, its name, network, encryption, etc. However, if I close this window, it still doesn't show up in the main AirPort Utility screen and I'm not sure how to configure it for AirTunes.
Hoping that's just a bug with the AirPort Utility software, I open up iTunes to see if I can locate it there. I know I should see a pulldown menu at the bottom of iTunes that gives me an option for AE as my audio output method, but the menu is not there. Now I'm completely stuck.
At this point I decide to start from scratch, so I do a Factory Default reset by pressing down the reset button on the AE as I plug it into the wall. Now it is supposedly reset, so I plug it back into my router, then it runs through a setup sequence and lights up solid green before I've even done anything. It shows up in AirPort Utility with a default base station ID, but my computer won't connect to it at all. I'm hoping I can try to reset it again this evening and at least get back to the normal setup screen, but I'm really not sure what I could do differently at this point.
This is frustrating and I'm on the verge of giving up, but I REALLY want this to work out.

  • Need to configure Airport connection to access corporate wireless network

Need to configure Airport connection to access corporate wireless network.
Have imported my certificate from Windows XP machine into keychain and made Leopard always trust in order to authenticate automatically into my corporate wireless network. Also attempted to establish a new 802.1x connection via network preferences without any success. It keeps asking me for username and password even though we used self-generated certificates to log into corporate wireless network. Does anybody have any instructions on how to successfully configure certificates in Leopard?

Welcome to the discussion area, jackregan!
You'll need to "hard reset" the Time Capsule and then reconfigure it again. To do this, you will hold in the reset button until you see the amber light begin to blink more quickly, keep holding another second or two and then release.
The "hard reset" will not affect the data on your Time Capsule
Now you can open AirPort Utility and configure the Time Capsule using wireless (be sure to log on to the default network which will have a name like Apple Network xxxxxx), or you can connect an ethernet cable from your computer to one of the LAN <-> ports on the Time Capsule to have AirPort Utility communicate with it that way.
When you open AirPort Utility, click Continue to follow the guided setup to re-configure your Time Capsule. You would choose the option to "Create a wireless network" when you are given the configuration options.

You need the Airport card OR Airport Express but not both.  Considering the age of your machine, I recommend Airport Express as you will find other uses for it whenever you replace the eMac.
To set up the AE, you do need OSX 10.4 or higher.

Welcome to the Apple Community Willy.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    Restart your mobile device.

If anyone ever comes across this and has the same issue, here's what I did to fix it:
My Linksys router has a Network Mode setting, and I had to change it from "Mixed" to "Wireless-G only".  (I would've used N but one of the NICs in my house is too old to support it.)  Anyway, after making this change, Facetime works fine on the phone.  Hope this helps someone else!
