How to connect pulse oximeter to DAQ 6008

What is needed to connected a Nellcor Pulse Oximeter for a adult finger to a DAQ 6008?

In order to connect any type of sensor, you need to know what sort of signal that the sensor is putting out. The 6008 has some basic analog inputs and static digital. I've only worked with the actual instruments. The various sensors often have a proprietary interface to the instrument and i'm not sure how much information is available on the sensors themselves. Perhaps you can check the biomedical forum to see if anyone has reversed engineered some sensors. If you can get some actual specs of sensors, it will be simple to say whether you can use a DAQ device to read them.

:-) I heard that problem before. Is it possible that we disscused this subject some time earlier?
Well, but to your problem. How many counts do you get per second in average? I work/worked at a similar problem to analyse the counts from a 2D-detector. I tried the VI mentioned above but it was never able to analyse 1000 counts per second as a order of magnitude.
Which shape has your pulses? Are they NIM or square shaped? How stable is your underground and of which order of magnitude is it? How fast is your DAQ board? Because according to the Nyquist theorem you will need a sampling rate of approx. 1MS/s to resolve them properly!

  • How to generate pwm pulse using NI DAQ in MATLAB

hi everyone. please tell me how to generate pwm pulses using Ni DAQ card in MATLAB Simulink. if through coding is possible then post the corresponding code.....reply me

Make sure you have installed the Measurement studio support for VB 6.0 then you will be able to find examples in the folder below on win7 and 8.
    C:\Users\Public\Documents\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\Examples
Narrow down to Analog Output and choose update voltage example for measurement studio.
You also have the possibility to use DAQ assistant if you have measurement studio installed. This function is a configuration type programming. After going through the configuration Wizard code is automatically scripted for you so that you can output the voltage you need. Read more about DAQ assistant in the blow link.

  • Build a simple pulse oximeter on labview through Arm Cortex M3

I want to build a simple pulse oximeter shows result on labview. Also, I have ARM Cortex M3 (stm32f103). I think that use it to bring analog data from photodiode sensor convert to digital data and send to pc shows on labview.
I have a basic circuit in simple pulse oximeter and I don't know how to bring a data to labview.
Could anyone help me? Who has any idea or suggestion of this or ever build it same case of me? please help me or send example code to me in my E-mail address '[email protected]'.
    thanks a lot

What type of signal does your ARM board transmit?
If it's serial data all you need to do is connect the output terminals on the board to a serial port on your computer and read it with VISA.
If it's other protocols you can typically use an an existing library to communicate with it (CAN, SPI, I2C etc).

Looking foeward to hearing from you,
    Sincerely,

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello Monireh,
To give you the precise solution we would need more inputs from you.\
But considering some assumptions from my side If you are using the Desktop PC for the project and If you are thinking of the DAQ card then,
You can go with the mulit-function  DAQ cards which have pulse generation capabilities.
You will also get the Details about the connections from the corresponding DAQ card Data Sheet.
    http://sine.ni.com/nifn/cds/view/main/p/sn/n24CI/lang/en/nid/1036/ap/daq
you can choose a specific DAQ card for your requirement from the above link. (I have assumed that you will be using PCI cards)

  • Does anyone know how to connect the iPhone to a peripheral and keep it charging?

Now that a number of medical devices can be attached to the 30 pin or to a lesser extent the lightening connector this creates the obvious conundrum of what happens when the battery of the iPhone dies and you still want MORE data?
The answer came in this review for a pulse oximeter
    http://www.amazon.com/review/R2LR18B4LT26F8/ref=cm_cr_pr_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00A1 G7VRS&linkCode=&nodeID=&tag=
The problem is that I have not been able to find this device that he references that describes a 30 pin extender that also has a connection to a USB (albeit mini USB) connector to allow charging and connection to an additional device.
Now granted that this may pose risks to the iPhone & as you can see in the review many of the device manufacturers don't like it, but this could come in handy and very useful for certain applications.
Does anyone know what this is called and where to find it online to buy?  or does anyone have a better solution such as a 30 pin splitter that will actually allow each device on the split to still communicate with each other (my guess is most splitter would allow dual charging, but will not allow you to actually get data sent across from the one device to the other).
    Thoughts?

What exactly is this "text divider"?
A graphic? If so what format?

  • How to connect external trigger PCI-1433

    Hi all:
I met the same problem as this old post: https://forums.ni.com/t5/Machine-Vision/How-to-connect-external-trigger-PCIe-1433/m-p/1677560/highli...
however the post did not give solution.
I am having an issue getting the external trigger( from PCI 6259) to work with a cameralink camera, a PCIe-1433 card . The PCI 6259 is connected to BNC 2111, the output trigger signal from CTR0 is connected to the SMB connector on the 1433 card and is providing pulse train at TTL voltages (0-5V).  Using the MAX SOFTWARE and under the Acquisition tab I have CC1 set to external 0, however the camera is not receiving this external trigger. The camera is Basler 4096-140km.
I measured the ouiput signal from CTL0, the sigal seems good.
I tried RTSI trigger before, failded. I thought SMB should be more straight forward, seems I was wrong.
    Looking forward to reply!

    Bobjojo,
You will actually need to affect the properties of both the camera and the frame grabber to take advantage of this triggering mode. I found a document that contains a good run down of the process to acquire in this mode (linked below). As far as the programming for the acquisition is concerned, the frames will be built at the driver level for the specified frame height. This means that the IMAQ driver will composite the line scans for you, and any simple acquisition (the document shows using the Vision Acquisition Express VI) will be able to pull the image into LabVIEW.

  • How to use an external start button for 6024E w/ sc-2345, I would like it to function like a start button in LabView but I don't know how to connect the external button to the sc-2345's connector block

I am confused as to how to connect my external start botton. I would like it to function like a start button on a front panel of a VI. I would like to use the +5V on pin 14 but I really don't know where to go from here. Any guidence for a novice would be most appreciated.

    phod,
This is the LabVIEW Real-Time forum, so I suggest that in the future that you post this type of question to the Multifunction DAQ forum.
For the simplest solution you will have to connect your button to a digital line of your board, consult the sc-2345 user manual for a diagram of where these lines are exposed. You will have to connect your start button in series with a line that is high, such as your 5V pin or another digital line. Then connect this to a digital line that will be your start trigger.
Your program can poll the digital line that is connected to your button in a while loop and when it goes high, it lets the rest of the program execute. For the programming, I suggest you take a look at the shipping examples that come with LabVIEW. If yo
u have LabVIEW 7.0 go to Help>>Find Examples. Open Hardware Input Output>>Traditional DAQ>>Digital Input and Output>>E Series for some examples of digital I/O programming with E-series boards.
    Hope that gets you started.

  • How to connect an angular encoder to NI9401 for velocity?

I have an angular encoder connected to a NI9401 daq. I put line A of the encoder to one of the digital inputs and the same with line Z (line B is not conected because direction is not relevant). However I'm having a hard time trying to get the velocity because I haven't been able to count the pulses and all the examples that I have seen they use counter that the NI9401 doesn't has.
    Can anyone help me????

    Hello,
What system do you have the NI 9401 module in … a compact DAQ or a compact RIO?  Please provide this information.  If you have the NI 9172 compact DAQ chassis, then placing the NI 9401 module in slots 5 or 6 will give you access to the counters on the back plane of the chassis.

  • How to connect serial or usb or parallel port

telll me how to connect our application with serial port and how to detect weather the usb is connected or not

Without spending too much time looking at the documentation, from using previous similar transducers, the primary two connections you are concerned with are the "+output" and the "ground". The other connections are also important, but aren't directly the concern of the Data Acquisition Hardware. The "+output" produces a variable dc voltage relative to the "ground" input that is a product of the applied pressure, with the maximum output voltage, as shown on the chart, indicating maximum pressure. So you would connect those, through a suitably shielded, moderately short length, wire to the "DAQ" analog input. You will also have to supply the transducer with it's required + supply voltage at pin 2 "vs", and the power supplie's negative to the ground. There are whitepapers on this NI site about connecting to data acquistion hardware and I strongly suggest reading them a couple of times as well as anything online you can find. Writing the DAQ software, in LabVIEW or whatever, can be trivial compared to making the correct, low noise, connections to sensor hardware.
I didn't read how the offset adjustment signal is produced or its use, figure it is designed to allow you to "tune out" some signal offset caused by differences between sensors of a type (they will not all have the same "fullscale output" as indicated in the chart).
As you proceed, please keep asking.

  • Random Differential Voltage Drop (DAQ 6008)

While measuring a constant voltage of 5V with the DAQ-6008 I get voltage drops (from 5V to near 0) randomly and for very short periods of time. I've found the same issue even when using different voltage sources. I am attempting to use the voltage on this particular channel as an analog trigger. So, as you can infer, the random voltage drops cause unnecessary triggering.  Any Ideas?
    Regards

    Thank you for your response.
I am including all of the requested information:
    1. The LabView vi
    2. .txt data output file (open in notepad)
    3. A picture of an example setup I am using to test the triggering system (note, this is one of several setups that all have the same triggering issue)
I'm certain the connections are not the problem considering the simplicity of the test circuit as shown in the attached image.
I have my DAQ-6008's ai3 port hooked up to the voltage input (the battery pack as shown in the picture, E.G.). Normally, the ai3 port would be connected to a binary sensor that ouputs either a 5v output or a 0v output depending on the presence of an object. As you can see in the vi, I am attempting to compare each of the incoming ai3 voltages to a value (4.5); if the incoming voltage rises from 0V to above 4.5V, a true signal is outputted and the trigger should activate once by incrementing the wheel count once. The problem presents itself here by incrementing the wheel count randomly even if a constant voltage source remains above the 4.5 threshold value. You can see in the data file that all of the values are 5.208543. Again, this constant voltage is exemplified by the battery pack in the picture. There is no random incrementing if the voltage source remains at 0V.

  • How to connect my friends apple notebook through video call

HOW TO CONNECT TO A FRIEND WHO IS USING APPLE NOTEBOOK FROM MY IMAC SUGGEST ME WAITING FOR A SOLUTION FROM APPLE TEAM SUPPORT

    Hi,
Typing in all upper case is regarded and shouting here.
Presumably as you have posted in the OS X 10.7.x (Lion) area you are running this version of the OS on your iMac.
This will have iChat 6 on it.
This can use AIM, Jabber and Yahoo IDs within the app.
Apple IDS ending in @mac.com and iCloud issued @me.com and @icloud.com are also Valid AIM Screen Names.
If you use Googlemail and Enable "talk" in the products there you can then use your Google Mail ID as a Jabber ID (although it has it's own Add Account option in iChat)
Facebook has an option to Enable "Chat" which will give you a Chat ID variant on your name there and this can be used in iChat (or Messages) as a Jabber ID.
The Yahoo Account will only do Text chats.
It also has to be an actual ID registered at Yahoo.
Chats are then AIM to AIM or Jabber to Jabber or Yahoo to Yahoo.
So your Buddy will also need a suitable ID or Screen Name  for the relevant service.
