How to connect the iPad to a VGA projector

I read the comments about using the iPad with a VGA projector for presentations, but those were for the original iPad. My association is asking me to present a live demonstration of the new iPad 2. I tested the iPad 2 with the digital connector to HDMI on my TV and that works great. I can move around all the screens on my iPad and even play Angry Birds.
But what about connecting this iPad 2 to a VGA projector? All the earlier comments referred to that process as "very limited" with only a few apps running on it, like Keynote. That won't do for my presentation. Is there a solution or does the new iPad 2 fully support a standard (read old) VGA projector?
Thank you for your replies.

It is my understanding that the dgital adapter will give you full video mirroring over HDMI from the iPad 2, although there are some reported models of TVs and projectors that have issues, but that analog signaling, such as VGA, is limited to apps specifically written to provide access to that type of video connection.

My ipad 3 is frozen on the plug into itunes page - it won't turn off or on - just stuck. I have tried to follow advice I have found on these pages but I don't know how to connect the ipad to my mac (the advice is to connect ipad to mac and there is no usb port on an ipad). If anyone could help it would be appreciated. Going nuts.

I think you should probably also read the iPad User Guide. You didn't say what version of iOS your iPad is running, so here's the links to both the iOS 6 and iOS 7 (PDF) versions:

  • How to connect the iPad to a TV?

I see that the Netflix app can now output from the iPad.
We would like to show movies on our television. Is the "Apple iPad Dock Connector to VGA Adapter" the accessory to buy? Is there something else we'd need?
We have older TV sets and use RCA component cables to input feeds. (You know, the old red-yellow-white cables.) (That's how our Tivo connects.)
Currently, we connect our MacBook Pro to the TV using Apple's "DVI TO VIDEO ADAPTER KIT-GEN M9267G/A". You just plug a RCA cable into it and run that into the video input jack on the TV. You run another cable from the headphone jack on the MBP to the TV's audio. I realize that connector wouldn't work with an iPad, but what would?
Our sets are standard definition (definitely not HD).

The VGA adaptor delivers the best resolution of the 3 possible "video-out" solutions that Apple offers. Now that both Netflix and Air Video have reved their apps to do video out it seems like the next natural thing is to figure out how to convert the VGA out to an HDMI signal so we can send movies from our iPad to our TVs. There are meny VGA > HDMI converters and I have tried the Atlona VGA to HDMI Scaler/Converter (USB Powered). Model: AT-HDVieW as I saw it mentioned (http://bit.ly/c5U7nv) as a specific match to the iPad. It didn't work. There is no setting on the iPad to send video out rather than display it on its own screen. It switches automatically when it senses "something" attached to the VGA adaptor. This "sensing" works flawlessly when connected to a real VGA monitor but I'm guessing that the Atlona converter is not sending the needed signal back to the iPad to trigger it to dump the video. Will someone please pick up this ball so we can solve this? Other possibilities abound. Here's a few http://bit.ly/d4jgkD and http://bit.ly/asc4RJ THANKS!!

Again just wondering how to remotely use the iPad and connect to my TV that has wifi

You can mirror the iPad wirelessly with a TV through an Apple TV 2 connected to the same wirelessly network.

  • Connecting New iPad (3) to vga projector

    Hi everyone
Has anyone tried connecting a New iPad (3) to a projector using the vga adaptor?
From what i've read, most projectors have a resolution of around 1028 x 768.
What happens if you connect the New iPad, with it's 2048 x 1536 resolution, to a vga projector with a lower resolution? (using the Apple vga connector).
I would like to show keynote app presentations on a vga projector, but i'm worried that if I use the New iPad (3) that some of the image will be missing?
    Help?
    Thanks

Does anyone know why the display on the LCD projector is not 1028x768. I have 2 black bands on each side. This is output from iPad3 using the VGA adaptor. It was working fine a day earlier, with 1028.x768. I used another application called Web Presenter and that works fine, with the option to choose external display setting.

  • Connecting the iPad to Logic Pro 9

    Hello!
I woundered how to connect the iPad to Logic Pro 9, to record from it as an instrument (a bought app from Appstore)?
Do I  need some device or something to do this or just connect it with the standard charging-cable?
    Thanks for the replys!

Logic can import several kinds of files, that's why I specifically said:
"Some apps can save a file in a format Logic can import"
MIDI files, Wav or AIF files come to mind.
Saving in a usable file format would prevent the original poster from having to purchase a MIDI interface or other hardware.
"Smule Ocarina app" can record it's output,  iRealBook can export both MIDI and AIF audio files, Amplitude Guitar Amp can save AIF files...like I said, it depends on the app.

i forgot my passcode for the ipad and i can't connect to iTunes because it keeps giving me error message that i have to unlcok the ipad first... any advice on how to restore the ipad or unlock it?

You have to restore the device within iTunes. You want to use the same computer that you always sync with so that you can restore your app data and settings. You can restore with any other computer, but you will lose everything on the iPad.
This will tell you how to restore
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
You will probably need to use recovery mode

  • I'm trying to connect a Sony wireless keyboard and can't figure out how to get the iPad 2 to discover it.  Has anyone had any luck using a non-Apple wireless keyboard and mouse?

Apple tech so far hasn't helped except to advise me to get manuals online that Sony doesn't post on its website.  I've sent off an inquiry to Sony but don't expect an answer.  Apple assumes my devices are bluetooth but the iPad2 hasn't figured out how to discover them, and I don't know how to make them discoverable.  I'd like to have the option to use them but so far haven't been able to figure out how.

    Heidi-
On the iPad, go to Settings-General-Bluetooth.  Set Bluetooth to ON and a new window appears while the iPad searches for Bluetooth devices.
To get the keyboard into a discoverable mode, you may need to remove its batteries for a while.  If it is not possible to get it to appear on the iPad, could the keyboard be defective?  Can it be discovered by other computers?
