How to connect to an internet hotspot

Hello,
I have just installed my airport express and can play i tunes on my hi fi. So very happy. Only problem is in my condo we have a hot spot for internet connection. At the moment I can either use the imac to connect to the internet or connect to the airport. Is it possible to connect to these 2 networks at the same time?
Thanks for any advice offered and happy new year.
regards
Richard

You can use the instructions in KB 302153, AirPort Express: How to join an existing wireless network in client mode to get the AirPort Express (AX) to join the hotspot... just like your iMac.
But be aware that anyone, yes anyone, attached to that hotspot will be able to send music to your AX or print if a printer is connected to your AX.

My solution, which is not much, is to restart iPhoto and it then connects to the Internet. This has been an ongoing unsolved problem.

Moderator's Note: The subject was amended. We have given a more appropriate subject the concerned topic.

    Hi bug_karthick,
Are you having any issue connecting your phone to the internet? There are two types of connection you can use, these are mobila data and WI-FI. If you're pertaining to a different concern, please elaborate on this one.
You can also read the User Guide that comes in the sales pack for some instructions. If you no longer have this copy, you can download it from here:

    Please help.

Well, first you need an ISP=Internet Servce Provider to provide you with internet service.
You can then go to your Mac OS Help Menu for detailed instructions. You will need to make the connection through your TCP/IP Control Panels.
If you run into problem you can check Knowledge Base Article http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106871 Mac OS 8, Mac OS 9: Troubleshooting a Dial-Up/PPP Internet Connection.
Post back if you run into any problems. Knowledgable users still using dialup service and/or know more about it than I do will be able to help you.

  • How to connect my USB internet modem to iPad2?

I am looking for way to connect my USB internet modem stick to iPad2; I understand one way is to get a pocket Internet hub and thru that I can connect via WiFi.
But is there any way that we can directly connect the USB modem to iPad and use it?

A 3G wireless router may do the job. I have used that years ago.

I need to access the internet over wi-fi on my iPhone, but there is no wi-fi network I can use, so I am creating one with my MacBook. I choose "Create Network…" from the Airport menu on my Macbook, and I am able to connect my iPhone to the ad-hoc network I have  made, but I can't access the internet with it, for some reason.
I think this might have something to do with one of the following two things, but I'm not sure:
1.) In system prefs > network on my Macbook, it says:
"Wi-Fi has the self-assigned IP address 169.254.83.143 and will not be able to connect to the Internet."
2.) Also in system prefs > network, under 802.1X, it says: "Authentication server is not responding".
Any help will be deeply appreciated.

To add more, when looking at the network (you have to be on it or near it) in your list, click the blue arrow next to it to get the settings for that network. On that screen you can tell it to forget.

  • How to connect to the internet

I installed Solaris Express Developer Edition 9/07 yesterday.I have a ADSL USB modem AT-AR206.I want to know How to create a connection to the internet

    O.P.
You connect your Solaris PeeCee to the Internet in the same way you should be connecting your MS Windows PeeCee.
Your ISP connects to the high-speed modem.
The modem connects to a router.
You configure the router to communicate with the ISP including any special PPoE setup.
You connect your computers to that router.
The router does all the hard work and its mere existance gives you an additional hardware firewall to shield you from the bad guys out there.
If the retail prices of routers are high in your local stores, then get one from an online auction web site. Ebay is an example of such a web site.

  • How to connect to the internet using ethernet

I have an iMac 10,1 and am unable to connect it to the internet using an ethernet cable.
I have a more recent Mac Book and I just plugged in the ethernet cable to it, clicked the setting in Network settings, and I was connected.
On the iMac it keeps saying, diagnostics can't fix it etc..?
On the left panel in Diagnostics, Ethernet has a green light, Network Settings an orange light, and ISP a green light (internet and Server are Red).
I'm using Comcast cable, and they just say the settings should appear automatically on a Mac (which they apparently did on my Mac Book!)
    Any suggestions, appreciated.

  • Does anyone know how to connect to wireless internet using a Hitron CVE-30360 cable modem. My Macbook doesn't even see the network?

I just received my cable modem from Hitron and I am unable to connect to it. My phone and other computers and see it as a wireless network but my Macbook doesn't even show it a network that I can connect to. It is totally invisible to my Macbook. Can anyone help with this?

Assuming "BellSouth" uses the same procedure as "SBCGlobal", which are now both ATT/Yahoo, as far as I know:
Take router from box. Connect to power outlet and phone outlet.
Take Ethernet cable, plug one end into the router's jack marked LAN, plug other end into your computer's Ethernet jack.
Point your Web browser to 192.168.1.1 (enter this into your browser's address bar, actual address might vary, check your router's documentation.)
A Web form will appear. Set router to PPPoE, if necessary. Enter the user name your ISP gave you. Enter the password.
Watch all the lights on your router go green.
Or, if the router is already set up, since you used it with your Dell laptop previously:
Take Ethernet cable, plug one end into the router's jack marked LAN, plug other end into your computer's Ethernet jack. Done.
The second from the left is your Ethernet jack:
