How to connect to BI Cubes

Hi All,
I have downloaded the BOBJ XIR3 and installed it successfully. But don't know how to connect to or create queries from the BI cubes?
When I try to Open a new connection I see only upto SAP Business Warehouse 3.x and it does not show anything further down. Any clues?
Thanks,
Arthur.

Hello Arthur,
I recommend to post this query to the [Integration Kits - SAP|BusinessObjects Integration Kits; forum.
This forum is dedicated to topics related to the BusinessObjects Integration Kit for SAP.
It is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there.
Also, all SAP Kit queries remain in one place and thus can be easily searched in one place.
Thanks a lot,
Falk

  • Connect to a cube with Integrated WIndows Sercurity for Windows user with computer outside the domain

Hello,I am trying to connect to an MSSAS cube with a windows user ( and i need this user to be the end user that connect to the cube) from outside the domain. It will be .Net application.I use msmdpump.dll before but the thing is it impersonate the connection
so the user that connect to the Cube is not the real client user with is a problem for me because i like to manage the security throw roles.
SSRS is able to do what i am trying to achieve ( it ask you your domain user and password) then connect to the cube with these credential which is great, but i do that ?
With ADOMD.Net how do you provide windows user/password in the connection string ?
I tryed to only active windows security access with IIS and MSSAS but it's not working with a computer outside the domain even if in excel i provide a windows user/password.

  • How do I clone a Cube ?

I've just bought a working Cube, 1.5G RAM, OSX 10.3.9, 20G HDD - and am unable to find an installable version of Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper to clone the OS + applications to a bigger 120G HDD.  Every time I download what I think is old version software I get "failed to mount" or "corrupt image"
Can anyone suggest a remedy ?  Either can you find me a usable cloner or tell me how to do the transfer using the OS or Terminal ?
    Dan.

Yes. You should do this while booting from the Cube (that is, boot from the external hard drive connected to the Cube – or put the larger drive inside the Cube before doing the OS upgrade). Swapping a drive into a Cube is extremely easy as long as you have the right screwdrivers. http://www.cubeowner.com will have illustrated instructions.
If this were my Cube or one I were preparing for someone, I'd leave it with 10.3.9 or I'd put 10.5.8 on it.
10.3.9 will feel fast and there are decent email clients and web browsers that will run well in 10.3.9 yet are up to most modern standards. I think 10.3.9 is the best version of Mac OS X for any one-processor G4 Mac that is able to run it. Here's a recent and pretty good blog article on the topic:
    http://www.nathanson.org/davesays/2011/best-web-browser-old-macs-panther/
With 10.5.8 you'll have an OS that is still getting security updates from Apple, will allow you to run the latest iTunes and very modern builds of Safari and Mail, at the cost of real and perceived performance. On a non-modded Cube it's also a little tricky to install because 10.5 “technically” requires an 800mhz or faster processor, but the http://www.cubeowner.com site covers workarounds for that pretty well. Even if your Cube is the slightly slower 450mhz model, your maxxed-out 1.5gb of RAM will make a big difference so while Leopard will chug a bit it will not be an unpleasant experience.
10.4.11 will be slower than 10.3.9 yet provide you with relatively few benefits unless using Safari and Mail specifically are very important for you - but they'll still not be terribly modern versions. I think 10.4 was a good OS for its time, but for a stock Cube's specs it's a poor compromise of speed vs modern utulity compared to either 10.3 or 10.5.
You could partition your 120gb drive and install both 10.3 and 10.5. Personally, I think 120gb is small enough (and it's right up against the maximum size possible – 128gb – for a Cube's internal drive) that I wouldn't want to break it down into smaller components.
By the way, if you enjoy older software, the Cube will run Mac OS 9 really well either in the Classic Environment or by booting to it. You don't even have to create a separate partition for Mac OS 9 as long as it's installed on the same partition of a Mac OS X version earlier than 10.5. If you decide on 10.5 for your Cube, you can create a quite small partition for a Mac OS 9 boot volume; 10gb should be more than enough.

  • Xcelsius - How to connect to SQL Server?

    Hi,
Can anyone provide me with a step by step guide on how to connect to an SQL server in Xcelsius?
I've tried a native XML webservice in SQL Server 2008 with no joy.
There is very little about this on google, i have spent hours searching.
I am very surprised that a product like this is so limited.

    Hi Leonardo,
It is possible to build a universe on a SQL Server Analysis Server cube. Once in the universe it is possible to use Query as a Web Service and or Live Office.
There are some good blogs on connecting SAP cubes/BEx queries, but the same applies to any cube once the universe is connected.

  • How to connect to ms sql server analysis server

I am interested to learn how to use the sql server olap technology
    --can any one help?
and also i need how to connect to the analysis server and get data from the cubes.
is there a demo available...possibly a demo application as well?
or site that shows or uses OLAP technology using java.
    thanx in advance
    ashok

I was thinking about how to achieve that. But I have not found any opensource JDBC driver or package that provides the feature you are looking for.
However there is still a change of building some kind of bridge through web services. You could implement a web service with the .NET framework, exposing whichever you need of MS Analysis service to a Java WS client.
    Good luck

  • How to get DIMENSION and CUBE data into JDeveloper???

i have build cube and dimension using oracle analytical workspace manager (AWM),
how i can get the cube and dimension data using jdeveloper 11gR2??
    does anybody know?
    any extension? or what??

The simplest thing is to use JDBC (java.sql package) to access the cube and dimension views through SQL. Something like this (with appropriate error handling).
    String sql = "SELECT dim_key FROM product_view";
    Statement statement = connection.createStatement();
    ResultSet rs = statement.executeQuery(sql);
    while (rs.next())
      // Process row here
    rs.close();
statement.close();  If your requirements are more complicated or you feel adventurous, then you can use the Java OLAP API. This is the code used by the data viewer in AWM. (Look for olap_api.jar in your database installation -- olap\api\lib\olap_api.jar my windows instance.)

HOW TO CONNECT TO A FRIEND WHO IS USING APPLE NOTEBOOK FROM MY IMAC SUGGEST ME WAITING FOR A SOLUTION FROM APPLE TEAM SUPPORT

    Hi,
Typing in all upper case is regarded and shouting here.
Presumably as you have posted in the OS X 10.7.x (Lion) area you are running this version of the OS on your iMac.
This will have iChat 6 on it.
This can use AIM, Jabber and Yahoo IDs within the app.
Apple IDS ending in @mac.com and iCloud issued @me.com and @icloud.com are also Valid AIM Screen Names.
If you use Googlemail and Enable "talk" in the products there you can then use your Google Mail ID as a Jabber ID (although it has it's own Add Account option in iChat)
Facebook has an option to Enable "Chat" which will give you a Chat ID variant on your name there and this can be used in iChat (or Messages) as a Jabber ID.
The Yahoo Account will only do Text chats.
It also has to be an actual ID registered at Yahoo.
Chats are then AIM to AIM or Jabber to Jabber or Yahoo to Yahoo.
So your Buddy will also need a suitable ID or Screen Name  for the relevant service.

  • How to connect sound or audio to my tv using hdmi adapter. I tried to connect thru sound settings but my tv is not found.

how to connect sound to my tv set using hdmi adapter. Im using 2009 macbook pro 13". I went to sound settings then output and it shows internal speaker built- in, it wont locate my tv set. pls. help, thanks

You probably can't because it looks like your MacBook Pro is too old to carry audio over HDMI. You will need to run a separate audio cable from the audio out port on the MacBook Pro to the audio in port on the TV.
Check your MacBook Pro model year against the list in this Apple tech note:

I ordered the mini dvi adapter for my macbook 13in and obviously it connects to the computer but i have no idea how it connects to the tv. Where does it go? and do i need something else to help connect it to the tv? I am really confused please help.

Yep, Apple makes adaptors to go from the mini DVI on the macbook to almost any type of input that you TV will have. First check the back of your tube to find out what kind of input it has, and order the appropriate adaptor.

  • How to connect a Sony Bravia TV to the internet through your Airport network

Since it took me a lot of time to figure out how to connect my Sony Bravia TV to the internet through my Airport network, I better share how to do it. Hopefully saving others a lot of time.
My 32EX600 Sony Bravia TV is Ethernet connected to my Mac Mini, which is part of my Airport network, together with another Mac, an Airport Extreme Base Station and an ADSL modem/router. Moreover, the Mac Mini is connected to the TV by HDMI.
Whatever I tried in the TV’s Wired Network Set-up (Auto, or Manual with manual IP, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS IPs), I couldn’t get it right. Cable Connection and Local Access were mostly OK, Internet Access always Failed.
The solution lies in the Sharing panel of the System Preferences of the Mac Mini. In the Internet Sharing item of that panel, you should choose to “share your internet connection from WiFi to computers (the TV in this case) using Ethernet“, and NOT (as I had chosen before and seemed so obvious) “share your internet connection from Airport to computers using Ethernet“. After that change, the Bravia Network Set-up, using the Wired and Auto options, flawlessly connected to the internet. No expensive (Sony) WiFi USB dongle needed.

I have now had a detailed reply from Sony Europe and the way to do this is to:
    1.       Press Home on the TV Setup
    2.       Use the right and left arrow to select Setting.
    3.       Use the up and down to select Network, press Enter.
    4.       Select Network Setup.
    5.       Select Wireless setup.
    6.       Select Scan
    7.       Select your network
    8.       A new screen will appear asking for entering the security key.
    9.       Enter your WPA2 key.
    10.   Select Enter.
    11.   It will take you back to the same screen asking for entering the
    security key.
    12.   Press the right arrow.
    13.   Select Auto.
    14.   Press the right arrow.
    15.   Select Save and connect.
These instructions are not the same as shown on the TV but they worked fine for me so they may help others with a similar problem.

  • How to connect my Mac book Pro to a TV

How to connect my MacBook Pro to the TV using HDTV cable

I am assuming your TV has HDMI connector.
In that case, if your MacBook is the retina-one, you have HDMI connector there too. All you need is HDMI cable to connect teh two.
If your MacBook has thunderbolt port instead, you need Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and HDMI cable.
    Hope this makes sense.

  • How to connect old aiport express to my new Airport Extreme? My Ipad says "base station e5713b cannot be configured" and my AirPort tool on my PC will not permit me to add my new Airport Extreme network (no network names to choose from)

How to connect old aiport express to my new Airport Extreme?
I have a PC running with Win7 and just replaced my Jensen With a brand New Airport Extreme.
I have set up the Airport Extreme to the internet, Iphones and Ipads and it work as it should.
I have downloaded latest Version of Airport tool on my PC. In addition i have downloaded the airport tool for Ipad.
I have reset one of my airport Express and it now shows up both on the Ipad and on the PC airport tool.
My Ipad says "base station e5713b cannot be configured."
I have wired the airport Express to my Ethernet to be able to "see it" on my Airport tool.
My AirPort tool on the PC will not permit me to add the airport Express to my new Airport Extreme network (no network names on the drop-down list to choose from). I wished for an easy set-up, but nothing seems to be plug and play as the Commercial says.. can you please help me?
    Sigve

    Hi
    Thanks for Swift reply.
Yep - I in fact have two A1088 and one A1264
I actually bought the new router because the Jensen
router always lost connection to the Airport Express after some hours or days. I
always needed to restart my Jensen to play music and that was driving my wife
mad. The hope was that the Extreme should fix this. Both A1088 have been set up
to only stream music to two of my stereo amplifiers from my PC’s Itunes library.
    Are the A1088 now useless?
The A1264 has been set up to feed internet into a Denon Reciever that needed Ethernet cable.
    Please advise
    Regards

  • Connecting to a cube via a linked server

    Hi
I want to connect to a SSAS cube via a linked server. When I ran a query against the SSAS cube from directly from the SQL server it runs fine.
If however I run the query in SSMS from my PC I get
OLE DB provider "MSOLAP" for linked server "SSASServer01" returned message "The following system error occurred: .".
    Msg 7373, Level 16, State 2, Line 1
Cannot set the initialization properties for OLE DB provider "MSOLAP" for linked server "SSASServer01".
In the properties on the linked server I've defined an account to use for the connection to get round the double hop issue
Any Ideas why I'm still getting the error?
    Alex

    Hi Mr P,
According to your description, you get the error 7373 with message "Cannot set the initialization properties for OLE DB provider "MSOLAP" for linked server "SSASServer01"." when connecting a SSAS cube via linked server.
    Right?
In this scenario, based on the error code 7373, it points to the issue of MSOLAP provider, please firstly check the properties setting for MSOLAP. Make sure the "Allow Inprocess" is selected. You may also have other options selected depends on
    your query.
Also check if ports for your server (1434 and 2383) are listening proper locally and externally. Please refer to a similar thread below:
