How to connect to internet while in europe

I will be going to europe on saturday and plan on bringing my laptop with me to check my emails. I just got my macbook and am fairly new at all this and dont understand all the network terminology so please bear with me. What are the different ways I could connect to the internet in Europe? Keep in mind i will be going to Bosnia, where starbucks doesnt exist and I have no idea if the cafes offer something similar like starbucks. There are internet cafes but its kind of far from where i will be staying in the suburbs. Would a dial up connection be best then? what do I need to do? can i bring the router and cable modem over there or is that just not possible? As you can see I am a total newbie at this and need a lot of help. thanks in advance.

I would personally go with a Bluetooth enabled phone which you can also use as a modem via either GPRS or 3G. You mobile service provider should actually be able to assist you with that.
Whiile it can get a little expensive if you do more than just send an receive e-mail although I do find it extremely handy to be able to connect when and where you like and only being limited to mobile coverage.

Just how is the one computer connecting to the internet? What type of connection does the office have, DSL, Cable or is it a Data connection through a Cell phone provider.
I doubt all other computer are doing Ad-Hoc but are probably Sharing the Internet connection with Internet Connection Sharing from that one Windows base PC.
All you khave to do is Connect to that same WiFi SSID name and have the correct password for it.

There's no setting. Plug in the cable to the adapter for either USB or Thunderbolt and plug the other end into your router. You can turn off wireless at that point.

In order to surf the Internet while streaming to the AirPort Express Base Station (AX), the AX needs to be configured to "Join a wireless network."
(ref: AirPort Utility > Select the AX > Manual Setup > AirPort > Wireless > Wireless Mode = Join a wireless network)
This will allow you to connect to the D-Link's wireless network for Internet access and stream to the AX simultaneously.

IOS devices not connecting to Internet while MacBooks does

Hi,
I'm in the process of closing my Verizon Internet and testing a Comcast service. Before unplugging my Time Capsule from the Verizon adsl modem I made sure that all worked ok with the Comcast cable connection. My MacBook worked right away through Ethernet and so it did through wifi when plugging the TC to the Comcast modem. The problem came on our iOS devices, 2 iPhones and 2 iPads, as they did recognize the network but could not connect to Internet.
I called Comcast customer care but as expected they wash their hands as I have Internet on my computer...
Any advise? Is there something else I need to activate?

Change the names to short no spaces no special characters. For wireless and the TC.
Lock the wireless to on a/n - b/g
Then fix the channel for 2.4ghz.. 1, 6, 11
Those measures usually get the iphone working .. ipad should work also.

Brand new IMac can't connect to Internet while using Vista Ultimate

The subject is pretty much it, but basically. We just bought a brand new IMac and I happened to have an old copy of Windows Vista Ultimate lying around and wanted to partition some hard drive space for gaming. During the installation a message popped up that said Lion only supports Windows 7. I went through with the installation and after Windows started I loaded in my old Snow Leopard CD. I installed the drivers and went through the set up. Everything seemed fine, but I am unable to connect to the Internet. I plugged my desktop in via Ethernet to my router but still no Internet. In my device manager there are many devices, including network controller, that have yellow exclamations next to them but I don't know how to update them or where to get the drivers. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I would be happy to take any steps to relay more information. Thank you!

Skype can't connect with internet while the connection is fine

I've installed Skype (version 7+) for my mac, OS XYosemite 10.10.1. When I try to login with my microsoft account in the application, it says that there is no internet connecting, even if there is clearly is. At the same time I can login with my microsoft account via hotmail. How to solve this problem?

I am having the exact same problem. It started with 10.7, was fixed with 10.7.1, then came back again with 10.7.2.

I want to connect to my time capsule 2013 over the internet with an iphone 5, my time capsule is now set in bridge mode and main router is an airport express. How to set to connect in this case and what is a global hostname? You will have multiple issues here.
It would be much better for the TC to be the main router. Do you have to use express as the main router?? It is underpowered and does not even have disk access.
Remote access is also super difficult from an iphone.. it is not a Mac.. apple designed remote access for Macs.

Only you need to use the LAN IP of the TC instead of the LAN IP of the express.
Global domain name.. might still work or might not.. apple is working hard to avoid it..
The best option is to buy a static IP from your ISP. That simplifies this whole setup.
Another option not listed is to replace the Express with a proper vpn router. iphone has vpn client built in.. but apple did not include a vpn in their routers. VPN is a lot safer and standard routers use standard dyndns.

E72 keeps asking how to connect to internet

Hi there,
Each half an hour (or something like that) I get some message on my cellphone in which I need to select which connection I would like to use to go on the internet. This message is starting to get really ennoying, so I was hoping someone knows how I can turn it off?
Personally, I think it is some program like the email, that is trying to check for emails each half an hour by using internet. Although I haven't set up any emailaccount on my phone.
I also only go online using wifi.
Anyone have idea where I can turn off this message appearing on my phone?

Can't connect to internet while away

Last year while visiting friends away from home I brought my G4 laptop (Leopard) along and simply connected an ethernet cable from my friends cable modom (sp?)to my laptop.
I immediately got connected to the internet without doing anything else. I am now back at my friends house this year doing the same thing and all I get is "I am not connected to the internet".
What more is involved in getting on the internet other than connecting to someone else's modom with an ethernet connection? Thanks.

When connecting directly to a cable modem you may have issues as some ISP use MAC address authentication. So often a cable modem has to learn a new MAC address.
To fix this issue you normally turn off the cable modem for 10 mins then connect the new device and startup the modem and then reboot the computer.
Long term the solution would be to put a router between the cable modem and the computer. The router would then maintain the connection.

You must either be in a location with public wifi or have a mobile hotspot via a wireless provider. You do not have to have an iPhone. I have an android phone that allows me to connect up to 5 devices on 3g or 10 devices on 4g. There are also portable hotspots available that you can purchase from wireless providers that are stand alone hotspots. Both require a data plan.
