How to connect to tc away from home

Actually it was working fine until i upgrade to lion and now my time capslue which i also use as server do not show up in my finder any longer and can not connect

Glad I can help. Feel free to click "This Helped Me"
1. Plug your iPad into the computer with the cord that came in the iPad box.
2. Open iTunes on CPU.
3. Hold down home button (bottom of screen) + sleep/wake button (top right of iPad). When screen goes blank keep holding home button, but let go of the sleep/wake button. Wait until iTunes gives you a prompt like "iTunes has discovered an iPad in recovery mode..."
4. Click "ok" on the prompt.
5. Click "Restore iPad"
6. Your iPad will show a progress bar and then reboot (at least once).
You are ready to begin using your iPad again when your iPad shows the welcome screen (gray screen with 'welcome' written in many languages). You might have to press the sleep/wake button to get the screen to show up.
Sync your content back onto your device when you get home.
You might want to use this video for help.
All the best!

  • Don't know how to access my email away from home

i don't know how to access my email away from home.
can't find webmail or email options.

Somehow I got it to work, a whole lot easier than i thought, kind of scary how easy... but Im not exactly sure what of several things is how I got it. Scariest thing; watching my iBook I wouldn't know that I was accessing it from the MB. It's only me doing it, but still seems so easy.
If I have a WPA2 password protected wireless network do I have to worry that others can access it so easily? (not that I have anything interesting, it's just the general privacy paranoia)

  • Can not connect to wifi away from home

i have no problem connecting to wifi at home...when i visit other locations my itouch will not connect. i have tried reset the network settings. my itouch shows the ip setting and other information for connection but it will not connect.

It might be that you have not acknowledged the network's agreement to use it. If you're using OS 3.0 or later on your Touch you should be able to open Safari and be re-directed to the network's Terms of Use page, then you should have access once you agree. If you're using 1.x or 2.x OS then sometimes it is harder to "see" this Terms of Use to acknowledge.
If that doesn't help, you can try editing the DNS that the network is giving you. You can try 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 which are the OpenDNS addresses. Sometimes that helps you get access in case the network is feeding your Touch incorrect DNS addresses. OpenDNS is free, safe, and pretty cool to implement on your own home network since it allows you to control content and monitor usage.

  • Internet connection away from home

how do I connect wirelessly when away from home? I see people at airports sing the net, also at starbucks etc. but I can not get a signal. I am using 2 wire wireless to connect at home with no problems. Any help appreciated.
    Mike

All you really need to do is have the Airport displayed on your menu bar, and when there is signal you will see the bars as being black rather than grey. You can click on the icon to list networks to attempt to connect to - if they're open you'll have no problems.

  • Send "away from home" message

How do I send an "away from home" or "out of office" message in mail like I can in Outlook? Can't seem to find instructions anywhere.
    Thanks

Open Mail preferences. Go to the Rules tab. Click the +Add Rule+ button.
Name it whatever you want in Description. The rule itself is
+If any of the following conditions are met:+
    To -- +Is equal to+ -- [email protected]
    To -- +Is equal to+ -- [email protected]
<add as many as needed for your email addresses>
    +Perform the following actions:+
*Reply to Message* -- Click +Reply message text...+ button and enter your reply message for being away.
When you click OK, make sure you select NOT TO apply rule to (existing) messages in the selected mailbox. You just want it to apply to new messages. After the rule is saved, immediately uncheck the Active checkbox, until you need to use it. Late at night, when you are less likely to get a real message, test it out by making the rule active and sending an email to yourself, to make sure your "vacation" rule works as expected.
Look up the Mail Help topic +Sending automatic replies+ and note the warnings about making a rule too broad. As advised, it may be best to use a mail server setting to send this type of reply. For example, with .Mac, I can set it up to automatically send such a reply when I'm away. When I get back, I can make it stop.

  • Hi. I have temporarily moved away from home. I am using a different internet connection, and I have lost my bookmarks. How do I get them back?

Hi. I have temporarily moved away from home. I am using a different internet connection, and I have lost my bookmarks. How do I get them back?

Generally speaking, your bookmarks are private to your computer, and if you set up multiple Firefox profiles on your computer, to the one profile.
Your bookmarks might be available to you at another location if you used the Sync service. In order to connect a new computer to the Sync service when you aren't near your old computer, you need a recovery key. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/share-bookmarks-tabs-and-more-your-other-computers#w_what-if-im-not-near-my-first-computer
If you didn't use Sync or can't access your account, someone with access to your old computer could email you your bookmarks. Since there is a range of different ways to do that and the best choice might depend on what you can expect the person you ask to be able to do... could they start up Firefox in your profile and follow menu steps to export a file? Could they drill down into a hidden folder on the system, zip a file, and mail that to you? Etc.

  • TS1398 How do I connect to the internet with my iphone when away from home

I have an iphone 3GS which was fine , was able to connect to the internet away from home when at uni, at appointments. Since software update to IOS 6.0, can now only connect to internet wirelessly when at home-as soon as leave the house it disconnects. Is this just because of the software update? Have tried adjusting settings but got nowhere. Thank you

When your wifi is off.  Do you see your carrier name at the top left with either 3G/4G.  If not you can try a reset, hold down the home/power button until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
or settings - cellular - cellular data - ON
if those two suggestion doesn't help then you will need to contact your phone carrier to resolve the issue.

  • How do I stream purchased movies to my Macbook Pro if I've already downloaded them and moved the source files to an external desktop hard drive and I'm away from home?

I recently added a number of movies to my iTunes library by redeeming digital copeis that came with Blu-rays. Due to limted disc space on my MacBook Pro, and for safe keeping, once I downloaded the movies, I moved the source files to an external desktop hard drive. When I'm home and I'm able to access that external HD via my home network, I'm able to watch the movies without an issue. However, if I'm away from home and I want to watch them, I'm not sure how to do that. I thought I could "stream" purchased movies from within iTunes  - even after downloading them - using "iTunes in the Cloud" but can't figure out how to do that, or it simply isn't possible.
    What are my options?

I understand that I can't play my downloaded movies when my external HDD is not connected becuase iTunes is looking for the downloaded files. This is not the issue. The issue is that because my HDD is not connected (as in when I'm away from home) I'd like to be able to stream the movies via the cloud.
If I hadn't downloaded the movies when I redeemed my codes, would I have been able to keep the movies online via Apple iCloud and watched them anytime by streaming them or must the movies be downloaded in order to be viewed on my MacBook?  I read that Apple allows movies purchased (or redeemed) via iTunes to be stored in the cloud via Apple iCloud so that they can be viewed any time, on any device.  IF this is the case, how does it work? From what I can see, it looks like movies can only be "streamed" from the cloud when useing Apple TV; on my iPhone and MacBook Pro, it looks like they need to be downloaded in order to be viewed.
Can someone clarify this for me?
Also - Michael - when you said that If I've already downloaded the film but I'm away from my external HDD I should "Delete the entry from the iTunes library so iTunes only sees the iTunes in the Cloud version", what exactly would this mean? Would this mean that I could then stream the movie from the cloud or would I have to re-download it to my Mac's internal HDD in order to watch it?
    Many thanks!

  • Unable to connect to Wi-Fi away from home

My iPhone 5 refuses to connect to any Wi-Fi network while I'm away from home.  I'm able to connect to and use my home Wi-Fi network without any problems. However, when I'm at Starbucks, traveling, work, etc., I'm unable to connect to any Wi-Fi network.  I've taken the following troubleshooting steps without success:
    1)  Initially, I reset network settings thinking this would be a quick fix.  No success.
    2)  I then deleted all backups on iCloud (to rule out a corrupt backup being the cause, performed a new backup to iCloud, and then performed a deep restore to iOS 7.1.1 via iTunes recovery mode.
I'm still unable to connect to any Wi-Fi network besides my home network.  Any advice on how to remedy this would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

I'm able to see the available networks, but after selecting the appropriate network, my iPhone fails to connect.  I read somewhere that toggling Airplane mode may fix the problem I'm having.  I have since tried that to no avail.

  • How can i access my PowerMac when i am away from home?

Hi, I have a powermac G5 at home and have just bought a mac book pro. is there any way to set them up so i can access the powermac when i am out traveling with my mac book? I guess i would need to leave the powermac on all the time, but how do i get the two connected? i have far to many files to use iDisc and i have a lot of extra drives attached to the powermac at home.
Any chance the answers could be simple!!! I'm relatively new to macs and know almost nothing about accessing computes over the internet.
    thanks for your help.
    martin

    Hi Martin,
I am just implementing something which may be of interest to you.
I have a home network of a G5 Quad and several PCs which I wanted to be able to access, securely while I was away from home. (Using a XP laptop).
I have just purchased a LinkSys RVL200 VPN router and ASDL modem and after a fair amount of trial and error managed to get it working to my ISP, British Telecom.
Effectively I can now connect my laptop from anywhere on the internet and it is as if I am sat on home with it connected to my local network. Most importantly it runs via an https: tunnel (may not be the correct phrase) so it is secure.
To connect all I have to do is go to my IP address via the browser using https://, logon on and it creates a connection through which I can access my Mac and PCs. Once the connection is in place then I can run any application on my laptop and it connects fine. (Last night I tested it running ftp to my G5 which is hidden behind the firewall.)
The only thing I am not sure about is how it would connect using a Mac rather than an XP machine (the secure connect icon appears in the tray) but if it fits what you are looking for I'm sure LinkSys could advise on whether it would work.
    G5 Quad   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

  • Connecting away from home

Does anybody know how I can access files on my home computer away from home.
I have a small server connected to my hub and I would like to access it from the internet.

I agree with what sig said. I plan my vacations around internet connection. Most places do have it, but you usually need to pay for it which is fine with me.
My friend has verizon wireless and bought a usb modem and pays for a internet plan. It works great for her as she needs to access email from clients on the road.

  • How can I get my iPhone 4 repaired while away from home?

I will be working in Manila in the Philippines for the next few months.
My iPhone 4 has developed a hardware fault and needs to be repaired. It is out of warranty, but I am willing to pay for the cost of the repair myself. The Apple Authorized Service Providers here inform me that the only organizations who carry out repairs are the two official iPhone distributors in the country. Unfortunately, neither of these companies are willing to repair my iPhone because it was not purchased from them.
I am told that I will have to fly back to the country I originally purchased the unit from to have the work carried out there.
People travel and work all around the world these days. Do Apple really expect their customers to fly to a different country just to get their phone
repaired? How is someone travelling on a business trip supposed to manage without his phone if it develops a fault while he is away from
    home?
Does anyone know a way I can get my iPhone fixed while I am here?
    Chris

As I explained, I'm not asking for Apple to provide warranty support. I'm quite willing to pay for the cost myself. The problem is that none of the authorized Apple service centers are willing to accept the unit for repair because it wasn't purchased from them.
Its quite shameful that Apple permits its official support organizations to behave in this way. Someone working away from home should be able to get their phone repaired if it develops a fault. These things are not toys for many of us. A lot of people depend on them to carry out their business.

  • Can I use the same plan that I have for my iphone 4s with my new ipad? or do I have to buy a new data plan for my new ipad?  I would love to use my new ipad away from home but not sure how to use it?

  • I've managed to get back to Pages 4.3 and delete the downgrade Pages 5, which makes a total mess of any doc prepared with it,  but how to I get back to the old version of Pages on my iPad so that I can work while I am away from home.

I've managed to get back to Pages 4.3 on my iMac and delete the downgrade Pages 5, which makes a total mess of photo-rich documents prepared with Facing Pages (most of mine),  but how to I get back to the old version of Pages on my iPad so that I can work on sections away from home. At least on my old PC, Word maintained compatability with old versions. Beginning to regret having switched.

Thanks for your help. What is really irritating is that Apple give a big hurray about what they have added as "new"  in Pages 5 (most of it pretty useless) without telling you of the myriad things they have deleted.  If they had shown the list your gave the link to, I doubt may regular users would risked going to Mavericks with its auto upgrade. My partner got the message in time and is sticking with the earlier operating systems and Pages on Mac and iPad. Lucky girl.
I have found a way to use my iPad to add chapters written while on the move to reports on my iMac Pages 4.3. If I write it on the new Pages on the iMac (don't seem to be able to revert there), the send the report as an email in WORD format (not Pages) and download it in the Text Editor, then cut and paste into the story on the iMac. Hardly elegant but it works.
