How to consolidate Apple IDs

I have three Apple IDs; let's call them bill, [email protected], and [email protected]  They each seem to have a place in my use of Apple technologies, and I would like to combine them all, which may actually mean deleting some things and may just mean not using some things anymore (after changing to what I do want to use).  Sorry, I am not sure.  I know there are MANY articles about this, but I can't figure out what is correct and what doesn't work, etc, etc.  Note that this is different from just changing an email address in iCloud (although I may have mixed that type of thing up in here too).
At various times, it seems that any of these can come up and ask for a password; I just changed to an iPhone 6, and at one point in the migration process from my older iPhone, I was asked for the password for "bill", which is an Apple ID I got WAY BACK on I think the second day Apple IDs needed to be applied for.  Well, enough background .
I would like to rid myself of any need to remember passwords for the Apple IDs bill and [email protected], and just use the one that happens to be my email address.  I know this will potentially involve at least:
     - changing Apple IDs for iTunes songs I bought many years ago, or, if that is not possible, then registering my new phone
     - changing something in iCloud
     - changing something in FaceTime, iMessage, and perhaps many more apps
I am a little concerned about turning off iCloud to change something, because of the warning messages that come up.  Can I just turn off iCloud, make a change, and turn it right back on, and the next sync will re-establish EVERYTHING (so, nothing is lost?)?
Thx,
Bill

No matter what reasoning you may have, you cannot consolidate or merge Apple IDs. This is not allowed. Apps and music content purchased through iTunes is locked to the Apple ID used to purchase/download them. That cannot change either, so when it comes time to update and app, you need the Apple ID used to purchase it. If you want to just use one, then delete the content that was purchased/downloaded by the other IDs and download/purchase with the one you want to use.

  • How to combine apple Ids

My family currently has 3 iphones, 2 iPads, and 1 ipod touch.  We have been using them years but would like to combine accounts to make it easier to share things and We all have our own accounts with our own apple ids- what is the best way to do this without losing anything we already have put on them..
    thank you!

All apps are tied to the Apple ID they are purchased with and is not transferable. You can't merge all your purchases.

  • HT5622 How many different apple IDs can use the same credit card?

I am setting up a bank of 12 iPads for school use.  I have created a unique ID for each iPad.  When first signing to each account/ID the credit card details are required.  I have done his successfully for first 3 accounts but can't seem to use this same credit card for any others.  How do I proceed with the other nine accounts?

This is not the way to go about this. You are creating consumer accounts for these iPads. Those may not be the proper accounts for an institution.

I can see in the iCloud section in Setting what the Apple ID is for the phone, but I want to change it. For some reason, it has it greyed out and I can't tap on it. Is there something I'm missing to change the ID?

You have to scroll to the bottom of the Settings>iCloud screen and press on Delete Account. You will be asked for the password for the Apple ID that is signed on. Type in the Apple ID password, then follow the prompts to delete the iCloud account.

  • How to separate Apple IDs

    Hi,
I originally created my apple ID a few years ago, let's call this [email protected] I've purchased quite a number of apps etc on this account.
I've now created an apple ID (example@icloud) and I think they're both linked together.
I've been trying to separate the @icloud and @gmail accounts, so that I can share my @gmail account with my family members and have no personal information on that, while keeping all my personal information on the @icloud account
The issue is that right now when I change something (such as a contact card) on [email protected], it'll reflect on the @gmail.com (in iCloud) account also, and vice versa.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated! Right now it's a mess as I'm reluctant to give my Apple ID password ot my family members. I've already created dad/mom@icloud email addresses for them, it's just that I have to pass them my password when they update the apps via the App Store.
    Thanks in advance!

If you sign out of an Apple ID under Settings > iCloud, you should be prompted for an option to 'Keep on my iPhone' in regards to Contacts and other related data.  Then, when signing in with another Apple ID on that same iPhone, you should be prompted to 'Merge'.  If you do both, then you won't lose any Contacts, and the iCloud Contacts will then be merged into the new Apple ID iCloud, but also will stay on the old Apple ID iCloud.
In the future, it might be best to post your own question thread instead of bumping a thread that is over two years old.

  • How to use multiple Apple IDS

I just bought my first iPhone and another one for my wife.  I'm trying to figure out how to configure Apple IDs to get the most out of our phones.  I'm interested in having us both share contacts and calendars, as well as use the same account for iTunes and the app store.  But we'd like to be able to FaceTime each other.  Is it possible to have one Apple ID for contacts, calendars, iTunes and apps, while use a different one for FaceTime?
In addition, my wife and I run a small business together, and it makes sense to me to use a separate Apple ID for this so that we can keep business contacts and schedules separate.. allowing us to use this same business ID for other office/managerial employees in the near future.  There are also another set of apps for the business... for example, we use Google Voice in our business.  Can we use another Apple ID for another set of contacts and calendar appointments?

YOu can share apple id for apps and music.
However you should get a separate id for imessage/facetime/icloud.

Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

  • HT1206 I buy apps in my iPhone using different Apple IDs. Which Apple ID should I use to authorize the computer when synchronizing iPhone with iTunes?

I buy apps in my iPhone using different Apple ID. Which Apple ID should I use to authorize the computer when sync iPhone with iTunes?

    Hi again,
After a little further research, it appears that you would need to create separate iTunes libraries in order to be able to continue to purchase and download previously purchased items on the same computer, for two different Apple IDs. Sorry - but my husband and I have had the library we sync with authorized for so long, that we have not run into this issue, but it appears that you will get an warning when you try to authorize the second ID on the same computer, indicating that another ID is already associated with it.
So, you will probably have to set up separate iTunes libraries for each ID:

Sorry for any confusion - hope this helps!

  • IPad Simultaneously use different Apple IDs?

When I set up my iPad I was given the option to use different Apple IDs for iTunes and the App Store. I opted to use the same ID. Now I have used the iPad for a bit, I'd like to see if it could replace my iPod. I've Googled around and I can see how to change Apple IDs on the iPad, but not set up two different IDs for use with the App Store and iTunes. Please can anyone enlighten me?

You can use one ID for iTunes/App Store and a different one for iMessage/Facetime. However, you can't use a different ID for the iTuens Store and the App Store as, bascially, they are the same store.

  • TS1672 I want to sync the 2 apple ids from my touch and ipad.  One of my email addresses is no longer valid but I cannot seem to change it.  Help

hi, I have 2 apple IDs one for a touch and one for an ipad.  I would like to merge the two together but the first ID is connected to an email address I no longer use and cannot access.  Does anyone know how I can do this.  I get messages on my touch showing my old email address which I cannot alter.

Try changing the password by using the security question answer vice respoonding to an email. See:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HE36
When you can access the account yu can then change the email adddress.
I no longer have an email address that was also my Apple ID. Can I still use the email address as my Apple ID?
Apple recommends you change your Apple ID to your current, working email address. This will not create another Apple ID, it will only change it to your working email address. See How to change the name you use for your Apple ID if you'd like more information.
Note: @mac.com and @me.com Apple IDs can not be renamed.  If you no longer use the .mac or .me email address be sure to add your valid email address as an additional email address.

  • HT204053 I have two Apple ids and want to consolidate everything onto one.  How do I do it?

I have two Apple ids and my syncing from iMac to MacBook and iPod Touch is messed up.  I want to consolidate all of my contacts and calanders (at least!) under one of my ids, and also use that one for the App Store.  What can I do?

Purchases are forever tied to the ID used to buy the items, so you don't want to change the iTunes Store account to a different ID.
You cannot "consolidate" or merge two IDs.
For your use of icloud, just decide which ID (or account) you want to use.  The following tells you how to move data from one icloud account to another:
When connected to the account you want to GET data from, Go to Settings>iCloud and turn all data that is syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off.
When prompted choose to keep the data on the iPhone.
After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID and turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On.  When prompted, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to this new account.
Note that this only affects the "Apple data" like contacts, calendars, reminders, etc.  Many third party apps also use iCloud to store data files there.  These files may be lost in the process, unless the apps also keep the data locally on the device.
NOTE:  Photos in the photo stream (if you use it) will not transfer to the new account.  It is advised that you save the photos to a computer before performing the account switch.

  • How to consolidate multiple Apple IDs?

I first started my iTunes life with a AIM Apple ID  (text name - not @domain).
A year later for reasons I do not recall I got a second Apple ID with an email address. This may have been when I signed up for Mobileme.  After a year I discontinued Mobileme but still had two Apple IDs.  I really only wanted one - the AIM  one, but now my iTunes life is split between
Now when I signed up for iCloud, I wanted to use the AIM account but learned this is not longer accepted. So then I offered up the second Apple ID, but this was refused - (name already in use).  So I was forced to create a THIRD Apple ID as a @me.com account
Now I have three Apple IDs.  I called Apple TS and they sent me to the Mobileme site where on Home page where if offers for convert you tfrom Mobileme to iCloud. But you have to sign in to Mobile me. I could not pass the authentication - maybe because I stopped using Mobileme a year ago.
Anyway, I really only want one and only one Apple ID - now my life is spread across three
Maybe someone here can succeed where Apple TS could not
    Thanks in advance
    Stoddard

Sorry to break the news, but Apple IDs can't be consolidated the way you're describing. At this point you're best off just sticking to one account from this point forward, since you can only associate one device to an account at at time. I would probably choose the one you bought the most items with.
