How to control auto-saving process over OSX 10.9.4?

When I close "Text Edit" or "Automator", "Pages" files, all changes stay remains at the file.
It's so confusing keep remember all sttings - disable/enable functions, variables etc. - to set them back before closing the file. There is no chance to omit save changes command anyway? I just want close the files without any changes.

In case you are unaware, OS X Mavericks also has a feature called Versions to view and restore past versions of documents.
Navigate to File > Revert To > Browse All Versions...
Click up and down the timeline on the right to view versions, then restore, duplicate, or leave a document unchanged.
You can also lock a document to protect it from changes.

How Much Control Do You Hove Over Migration Assistant?

I am finally getting around to installing Leopard and plan to do an Erase and Install to a partition on my firewire external drive and tinker with things over there before copying that image via SuperDuper to my iBook. In the meantime I can continue using Tiger for my day to day activities without interruption.
How much control do I have over what Migration Assistant moves? I definitely want to move my documents photos and music, but because I have a corrupted user account and at least one broken app (QuickTime - I've tried fixing this numerous times without success and I'm tired of messing with it), I don't want to move either the affected account or the broken apps, which are in all accounts, because I would just be replicating these problems in Leopard. Obviously reinstalling all of the app because of a couple that are messed up is a little extreme, but this also gives me a chance to eliminate those apps I'm actually not using on a regular basis.
Also I will always have a SuperDuper backup of my latest Tiger image to refer to as I boot into Leopard for some shakedown testing.

Migration Assistant doesn't give you THAT much flexibility. you can choose to migrate whole user accounts and/or all applications. if you want finder control you have to migrate things by hand. use this post as a guide

How to control the Business Processes of System Status in Proj. Def.?

Dear Experts,
When a Proj. Def. is in "Business Complete" System Status (CLSD), I would like to control no data is allowed to be changed, except undo the CLSD.
In SPRO, I could onlly fine the similar setting in WBS status profile, but could not find system status profile for me to define and set which business processes is/are not allowed.
Is there anyone know how to do so please?

Really thanks for your swift reply.
In my system, when a Proj. Def. is in "CLSD" status, many of the fields are not grey-off for display only.
Instead, most of the fields are allowed to change.
In CJ20N, when I check on the "Transaction Analysis" of a project's status after "CLSD", I can see the "Create Change Document" is "Allowed".
Is that the cause why most of the fields are allowed to change?
How can I make it as "forbidden"?

How to control two different processes with one DAQ output board

Hi! I posted this in the Signal Generators forum, but I'm reposting here in case someone on this board has suggestions for a way to get around my problem programmatically (ie. within LabVIEW). Thank you for any help you can provide.

I have a PXI-6722 8-channel, 13-bit analog output board, and with this I want to independently control both the temperature (thermometer excitation/heater control) and magnetic field in my experiment. Unfortunately, it appears that I cannot do both simultaneously, which is totally unacceptable for my application.
Currently I'm using separate VI's for field and temperature control. This is the start of the problem, because in DAQmx you can't have 2 output tasks on the same card at the same time. In order to remedy this situation, I used MAX to create a global task containing all 8 13-bit analog outputs. However, it now appears that each time I do a write operation on this task (from whichever VI) I must write to all of the task channels, rather than just the channels I want to change. This would be fine for the temperature controls as they are of the type "set an output voltage value and hold it until told differently," so I could re-write the currently held values for channels that are not being changed. Magnetic field control will not work in this way, because we need to do very smooth field sweeps which require an analog waveform to be sent and sampled at a high rate (so that the steps are as small as possible). So if, for example, a thermometer's excitation voltage or a heater's power need to be changed during a field sweep (as is often necessary to maintain a constant temperature, via PID), then the sweep will be disrupted, potentially causing a dangerous magnet quench.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I could make this work? It seems very wasteful to buy a second output board when I still have lots of free channels on the first.

I'd probably create a third process that just updates all output values on the card whenever necessary.
One way is to send messages via queues from the temperature and magnetic field control routines to the third process. The third process doesn't do anything unless it gets a message from one of the two other processes. The message should contain the channel task ID to change along with the new value. Use the LabVIEW queue VI's, using a type definition to specify the message type either when you create the queue or use the variant VI's. Once it gets a message, it updates the changed channels, not modifying the others (use a shift register to store an array with the current set of output values).

How to customize Auto-trace selection over multiple frames?

Hi all,
I'm working on an After Effects CS5 project that involves a lot of compositing and my material is all in high-contrast black and white. I'm looking for a way to mask individual parts of a particular clip: e.g. I have a 10 second clip with two people standing in it, one on the right and one on the left. I'd like to isolate the person on the right and hide everything else, including the background and person on the left.
I used Auto-trace to quickly find the outlines of my image and it works great since my picture is such high-contrast. Only thing is, I'm not sure how to remove the person on the left from the auto-trace selection.
I have "work area" selected in my Auto-trace options, which is amazing as it makes the Auto-trace selection span over my entire 10 second clip (as opposed to me needing to apply it frame-by-frame), but now the problem lies in removing person on the left from the entire 10 second clip. I went to the beginning of the new layer (I have the "Apply to new layer" box checked in my Auto-trace options), used the "Delete Vertex Tool" (the pen tool with a minus sign on it), and removed the selection of the person on the left, but the selection exists in all the frames following it (i.e. 9 seconds and 29 frames), and only gets removed from the particular frame I was working on.
Is there any way to get AE to remove the selection over the span of the clip as opposed to only the individual frame I'm working on?
BTW, I'm not married to this method. If anyone has a better method I could use, I'm all ears, although I would like to see this through if possible.

Thanks for the tips. I checked out the super tight junk matte tutorial, and this works well for green screened content but the issue I have is that my image is completely duotone - i.e. I only have black and white in the image. See here for an example:

So my challenge is trying to get certain portions of the image excluded, and I'm having a hard time doing this using rotobrush. In this case, I want to exclude the face on the left while auto-tracing or somehow rotobrushing the face on the right. Any other suggestions? I was hoping for an easier way short of applying tons of junk mattes and precomping.

You can protect confidential assignments from unauthorized update by setting the profile option HR: Enable Security for Batch Element Entry to Y. If you enforce additional security, you can prevent unauthorized viewing and updating of batch lines for the protected assignments.
I have read this in a document from metalink basically what this Profile option does is that it disables the Assignment Set on the Batch Header Form.
Now my question to you all gurus is that is there a profile option for setting up the Process button at responsibility level in a similar manner
i.e. suppose i would like only some responsibility to Validate or Transfer or Purge the batch will that be possible?
Kindly let me know what is the profile option for that??

Just a quick one what is the property to be selected for a Radio button under action tab for form personalization ?
For example one could use the following to disable the submit request button:

How to control the deletion process

I'm accustomed to files deleted from Bridge ending up in my Mac's trash. Lately they inconsistently do not end up there. If I want to retrieve something I'm out of luck because they've disappeared comepletely. Please advise.

Should I connect an external hard drive (a second one since I have a vast amount of photo and music files) and assign Time Machine to it?
That would be a good start. If you assign Time machine you can choose to rule out folders and disks but if your external is big enough I should leave it to all. The only thing is that by default the user library (containing Bridge Central Cache amongst many other useful custom settings) is hidden by default since OSX 10.7. You can do a Google search to reveal this permanently using Terminal (very easy, just follow the instructions). Be aware you have to repeat this for every update of the OS itself unless they solved this problem by now.
Time Machine first makes a copy of all the content (can take a lot of time so run overnight) and afterwards it makes a backup of the changes every hour. It keeps them for a few days but after a while it deletes them leaving one per day, per week and per month to create space for future back up.
You have to have admin access (password needed) to open the back up file but then you can see the same folder structure as on your main system.
Preferable you have to make another back up system (I use Synchronize Pro for this) on other external disks and make a habit of running it once a day (you can highly automate this using the many options) and store one disk elsewhere for extra security (at least those with your most important files on it).
Since I use these both strategies I've not lost files I should not have lost

The currentRowData object is the currently selected row of a data model.
Problem is, the model is updated with the value of the components whenever the form is submitted,
and regardless of whether the value of the components has changed or not.
(Actually, the behaviour depends on the type of the property, as ie. Date is treated differently from String or int.)
This causes unwanted changes to the model, and, if a new row is selected, it will at once
be updated with the values of the previous row (from the current state of the components).
I want the above components to update the model only if the user wants to, ie. only if a
specific command button is pressed.
How to control this?
Let a PhaseListener check the request, and do renderResponse on the FacesContext if
the "selectRow" request is found in the request parameter map?
This is not very elegant, and it does not seem to work either. If setting PhaseId to APPLY_REQUEST_VALUES, the action itself (selecting row)
will not be executed, and if using UPDATE_MODEL_VALUES, the value of the components is set from the request (even if unchanged), and not updated according the the new data in the model (the rendered values does not reflect the values of the properties of the object the components are bound to)
Another solution might be to let the "disabled"-attribute of the inputText tags be dependent on whether
a specific "edit"-button has been pressed (disabled inputText tags are rendered correctly after a row change).
But a better solution would to have the ability to control the behaviour, something like
"for these components, no updating of state should be done unless the condition c is true"
(I'm not sure what condition this could be, though).
Whatever solution I may end up with, the real problem seems to be that the state (and hence the model)
is updated from the request also in the case where the value in the request is the same as the current value of the component.
Or maybe there is something I have missed here?

This one is a tricky problem - a side-effect of JSF doing a lot of things automatically is that sometimes it does too much.
I don't have a great solution, but here's a couple of ideas:
(1) Try using multiple <h:form>s on your page (not nested one inside the other, but separate). Data will only get updated in the form that contains the button that got pressed.
(2) Use an intermediate model layer, and discard updates as appropriate.
Neither of these are beautiful solutions - the second is way ugly - but they might help. Long-range, I'd love to see something like "subforms" supported in JSF that can provide finer grained control over what gets processed (validations, model pushes, etc.) and what doesn't without resorting to the blunt hammer of multiple HTML forms.
I'm a little confused about "the model is updated with the value of the components whenever the form is submitted, and regardless of whether the value of the components has changed or not.", because JSF is checking the old value and using ".equals()" to see if its changed. Note, however, that it's not caching the old value across the request, but simply going back to the model on the subsequent request, which may (or may not) explain the behavior you're seeing.

CS6 Beta ended by crash - How/Where to keep my Auto-Saved Recovered file ?

Hello,
I was working on Photoshop CS6 beta on Lion OSX since one month with no problem.
Yesterday seemed to be the last day of use (1st june annonced however) and Photoshop CS6 Beta shutted down since I was working on it.
On the re-opening it asks for a licence key so I try to buy one month rental on the e-shop but the 3 bank cards tested failed. So I gave a call to the commercial service and they told me that they do not take in charge rental but only full licence and that I can download the trial for one more month if I want to.
So, I will replace the beta by the trial.
But :
- How can I keep my Auto-saved Recovered file I was working on when crashing (pretty important work)
- Where the recovered file is saved on the hard-drive ? And, can I make it works whith CS6 non-beta ?

As I understand it - having not (fortunatley) had the opportunity to test this - if PS crashes and you have auto-save switched on, you need to re-launch PS and it will automatically open with the recovered file(s) in the state they were at when auto-save last saved them. Auto-save stores files temporarily in a special folder that's located at the same file path as your scratch disk location. (My scratch disk is at root level on a seperate drive, so it's easy to see the auto-save folder if I look there, but if you can locate your scratch disk, you should see the auto-save folder also.)
Of course, the fact that you can no longer open PS is going to present a problem here. I'm not sure if you could re-access the file via the trial version once that was installed and pointing to the same scratch disk area.
I might have got this wrong, but I think it's correct... Feel free to disprove my post!

STO - How to control Over delivery ?

In STO Scenario, how to control the over delivery?
Please note that I have already assigned a tolerance % in my Purchase Value key & same has been assinged to my material.
Now when I create a STO for this material system is picking up this Overtolerance percentage. But Still If I create a delivery more than the PO Qty (which exceeds the tolerance %). System is allowing to save the delivery.
Hence plz suggest how to restrict the same.
Please note that I am selecting the Partially Delivery indicator in STO as A - Create a delivery with qty. greater than zero Since tolerance wont work if I select Partially delivery allowed.

In STO Scenario, how to control the over delivery?
I created a PO for the Intra Company stock transfer & Delivery created in the Background with the T Code VL10B. When I am doing picking using T code VL02N, the system is allowing to add more than PO Quantity in batches and system displaying the warning message (Specified quantity is greater than the open quantity/Message no. VL287) & allowing to save the deliver document..
Hence plz suggest how to restrict the same.

I checked OSS notes 548914, 386340,215488 but to no avail.
I suggested user exit USEREXIT_SAVE_DOCUMENT_PREPARE in include MV50AFZ1 to my technical team for finding the resolution. So far it is still on hold.
If you come across any other solution, you can update the forum so that it would be helpful for many others.

How to control print over laps?

We are printing several lists on the same printer from different users using different print jobs.
For each page of the list, a file is generated which is picked up by the interface and sent to a printer. The files are numbered with date and time stamp.
However the docs are getting over lapped when the jobs are released simultaneously.
When Job A and Job B are released at the same time from different points:
The first doc prints from Job A, second doc is from Job B - again 3rd and 4th will be from Job A etc.
How to control this in such a way that the Job A completes and then Job B starts printing?
{I am not sure if locking the printer helps - as this may lead to failure of subsequent jobs}.

How to process overly compressed high volume audio files

I used a process in scientific filters in audition 3 to process overly compressed high volume audio files normalized to 0 db. It was like magic.
How would you process this sort of file in Audition 6.

Below was the process used in Adobe Audition 3. The sound was much improved. Try the steps on a file you have to hear the difference.
Effects- Amplitude - Normalize - uncheck the decibles format box - normalize to and normalize L/R boxes checked, enter 48 into percentage box.
After normalization was complete
Effects - Filters - Scientific filters - select Chebychev 1 tab - band pass button and select the following parameters.
Cutoff =4, high cutoff = 22050, order = 18 all other settings at defaults values (0). Delay radio button sellected, check the extended range box, press OK.
Increase to appropriate volume after processing if necessary.

Under 10.6.8, we had two menu items :
Save and Save As…
Now we have a single Save…
Since the first delivery of the macintosh,
a menu item whose name ends with ellipsis is one which always open a dialog.
Under 10.6.8 and older the Save button was used to save and already saved document without opening a dialog.
If the document was never saved, it behaved as the Save As… one.
With Lion the Save feature : save an already saved once document is no longer required as the system autosaved everything.
There was no reason to keep this aspect of the Save item.
Remaining tasks are those which were dedicated to the Save As… button.
The engineers choose to drop one op the now duplicating items.
The synthesis is the Save… item which clearly state what it is supposed to achieve.
Triggering it, we may :
change the name used to save
change the destination folder
export as .doc
export as Pages '08
Of course there is always the black triangle allowing us to use the stripped dialog or the full one.
