How to control Logic Pro via iPhone

Hi everybody,
It's nice that finally Logic Pro X can be controlled via iPad but I'm still looking for an app which can be used with Logic Pro / Logic Pro X to load projects, record/play/stop and close it.
Any suggestions?

I don't believe any of those apps allow you to "load' a project.... which was one of the OP's requirements..
Am I wrong?
This is why I suggested Touch OSC because you can literally configure anything using that app.. and for example.. have just a simple screen to load and save and then tab to a different screen for other customized uses...
Of course, it will require some programming skills in Touch OSC but it will do it.. and you may have to do/setup certain things in Logic to make it possible... but with a bit of study and some help from the Touch OSC community, it will be possible.
I am unaware of any 'off the shelf' app that will allow you to open a project in Logic Pro.. but again, I could be wrong?

Well... Of course that i've tryed that in a first place, but...
1. There is no iStore and App store in Serbia, so i've opened (like 200.000 thousend users from Serbia) account on our friendly country who used to bomb us in 1999. USA!!! Heheheh...

Of course going to school would be a good option, but I want to know if one-to-one is also a good way to learn how to use logic pro. Has anyone been through the one-to-one program for logic pro and can say that they learned how to use logic pro well because of it?

For sure, one to one training, if given by a tutor who is capable, will hand you the means to build up self-confidence and will therefore let you operate the hard/software in an intelligent manner, instead of going for the trial and error method which has its pro's and con's too. Once you've passed this beginners phase you will make your own decisions intelligently and then you will also start to get experience and learn even from your mistakes. Something like that in theory and the rest is up to you!

If you bought the boxed set of Logic Studio 2.0 which includes LP9, then you cannot download it. You must use the disks that came as part of the boxed set... to install from.
If you bought the App Store version of Logic Pro 9 then go to the Mac App Store App, Sign into the Store using the same Apple ID you used to purchase LP originally, look under the Purchase Tab and you shouldl find LP9 ready and waiting for you to download and install.

How to update Logic Pro X to 10.1?

Recently been trying to figure out how to update logic pro x to 10.1.... not really sure how to go about it or where to begin. I purchased it in September of 2013 and not sure that its been updated ever since. When i go to about it says that im running 10.0.3. Also, not sure if this matters but when i go view it on the mac app store it gives me the option to purchase it for $199.99, which i already have. Please help! thanks in advance.

That only usually happens when the original copy of LPX on your system had been renamed or moved from it's original location (or was in a different User Account on your Mac....) which is why the Mac App Store app couldn't find it to update it....
Check your system (search the internal drive and any other drives attached, one at a time) for other copies of LPX...... using FindAnyFile....

Search for Logic or LPX or Logic Pro or any other possible name that could be Logic Pro X and see if it finds any other copies... or any duplicates in the Application folder...
If it does, delete those copies that are not in the Application folder in the root of your system drive... and/or are not named Logic Pro X, to be on the safe aside and to prevent such an issue occurring again.. in the future.
Don't forget to empty trash too... after doing all this.

Note: I assume it actually updated LPX to v10.1.1 which is the latest version.... and not v10.1

Does Apple have any plans on making an Iphone app to control Logic Pro like Motu has done for Digital performer? They make it for free which is a HUGE plus!

i was wondering if Apple has any intentions on making an Iphone/Ipad app to remotely control Logic like Motu has for Digital performer. Motu has it available for free which is a huge plus but Id be willing to pay for one if Apple came out with one of its own.Im a little mift as to why it hasnt been done, Im sure they are capable of it.

I've been using Touch.OSC, from Hexler. It is not created by Apple but works like a charm on Logic. I've been using the app for over a year both on my iPad and my iPhone. Check the app on Hexler @ http://hexler.net/software/touchosc. Another app (which I still haven't tried) is lpTouch. Yeah, it would be cool if Apple included its own iPad/iPhone app to control LogicPro on a future update... but for the stick price of the apps I've mentioned you might have a good 'bang for the buck".

Controlling Logic Pro pitch bend

Okay I just got Logic Pro 9 and haven't even dived into the manual yet but I hope someone can step me through this nonetheless. How do I control the pitch bend sound for the software guitar? It has this unappealing country twang (no offense to country fans) every time I hit the pitch bend button on my midi and it's driving me batty. I have to get rid of it. Can someone please guide me through changing this? I'm looking for a pitch bend setting similar to the one in garageband, more of a rock feel, or better. Anything but this.

How to configure logic Pro X for Xenyx Q1202 USB

Hello. We need to know how to configure our Logic Pro X to accept our Xenyx Q1202 USB. At the moment we cannot record on Logic Pro from a mic plugged into the Xenyx or record any instruments. The sound comes from the mic into the Xenyx and then out of the Xenyx into the headphones but it won't go into Logic Pro X.
We are using a brand new imac, (OSX Yosemite version 10.10) Logic Pro X and Xenyx. The Xenyx seems to be working OK. The microphone and cables work perfectly because we can hear sound from the mic going into the the Xenyx and out through the headphones. The Xenyx Q1202 USB is a Mixer with preamp compressor and USB/Audio interface.
Logic Pro X knows that the Xenyx is connected to the iMac because it has registered that fact. But it's not picking up any sound at all from the Xenyx. We've have tried it on Garage Band and have the same problem.
We have a feeling it might have something to do with the configuration.
Can anyone help please?

Ok.. Lets take this a small small steps at a time..
In Logic's preferences/Audio....
What do you have set as the Input and Output?
The input should be your Xenyx
The Output should be whatever you are going to use to listen to the sound output from your Mac... If you have speakers or headphones connected to the headphone output of your Mac then select that. If you want to listen to sound via the headphones or audio outs of your Xenyx, select the Xenyx.
Now create an audio track in Logic and select the correct inputs to match the inputs you are using on the Xenyx...
Record Arm the track and speak into your mic.. and see if Logic's meters move for that track you created...

I have Logic Pro installed on 2 MBP's. I want to move one copy to a different MBP. How do i transfer Logic and it's license over to my new computer?

Just reinstall=ing Logic never seems to do much and is considered basically a waste of time in almost every case...
So.. while the following is a PITA.. it's the most reliable method to get everything up and running on a new Mac....
1) Reformat the System drive and install OS X using the Recovery partition...
Restart Mac (and when the gray screen appears), hold down the Command (⌘) and R keys.
Note: Dont simply reinstall OS X... Use the menu option to get to the Disk Utility... and reformat System Drive...Then install OS X..
2) Install Logic Pro 9 Update only.... It will ask for both your LP8 and then LP9 serials so enter them...
3) Update LP9 to 9.1.8 using this link...
Logic Pro 9.1.8
4) Test LP9 to ensure its all working
5) Install the latest Audio/Midi drivers if needed..
6) Test LP9 again....
7) Install Kontakt (latest version) or Komplete if that's what you have... and update via NI's Service Center
8) Test LP9 and Kontakt...
9) Now install anything else you use...
(10) Manually copy across all personal data, projects/photos/docs etc.. from old Mac via external HD or Thumb drive...
Dont use Migration..........

How to backup Logic Pro 9

I haven't used Logic Pro 9 for a long time. I notice it's been superseded and no longer on the app store.
I'm about to reformat my entire hard drive. How/where can I make sure I can re-install Logic once I've reformatted?

If you bought it via the app store then you can always download it again via the Purchase tab in the Mac App Store..... using the same Apple ID you used to buy iot in the first place.. You cannot buy it currently on the Mac App Store.. but if you previously bought it from there you can download and install it again...
if you bought it as part of Logic Studio.. (DVD version) then you will have to reinstall it via those DVDs)
I dont recommend trying to re-install it via TM backups... That always seems to cause issues...
Note: If you are planning on upgrading OS X to a laster version.. don't.... unless you absolutely have to as LP9.1.5 or at least 9.1.8 and SL 10.6.8 is still the most stable and best performing combination to date. LP9 and Yosemite is currently really a no go at this time.. due to many issues.

How to get Logic Pro Surround into FCP?

I've got an FCP project that is setup as DV NTSC 48kHz 16:9 anamorphic (basically linked Video/Audio - 2 tracks).
I have some surround tracks (mix of audio tracks and instrument tracks) that I've created in Logic Pro that is set at 96kHz 24bit.
If I bounce to PCM (AIFF) for all the tracks in Logic Pro how can I get these tracks into my FCP project that is using DV Video/Audio at 48kHz? I know I can import AIFF files into FCP but because the DV audio is 48kHz so I get all kinds of problems.
Tried to convert the FCP project to 96kHz 24bit audio and that resulted in all kinds of issues with timing and playback. I could not figure out how to split out the DV audio from the video (not sure I want to either).
Not sure best way to proceed? Should I send the FCP project to SoundTrack Pro and then in SoundTrack Pro import the AIFF created by Logic Pro? Once in SoundTrack Pro how to I get it ALL into FCP so I can render to a Movie and then use that in DVD Studio Pro?
Is there someway to convert the DV Audio to 96kHz and retain a synch'd link with the DV video?
Any tips on how to proceed is very welcome.

What sample rate do you ultimately want on the DVD? Do you want Dolby 5.1?
Try burning your sequence to a single DV file. import the file into Logic Pro, bounce to a new 96k file. Check this new file against your video while still in Logic. Back in FCP, make a new sequence, set it to 96k, import the new audio, then import your 96k surround stems.
Although I'm still not sure what you're trying to accomplish with a 96k surround mix.

the time before i worked with Fruity Loops and Reason to create Black Music Beats, freaky, i guess.
i'm sittin here for two weeks and i'm tryin to figure out how it works.
first, i have to know how i create my own beats without usin Loops and Samples, means, i wanna know how to insert Instruments and create Notes + Beats.

i second that. having worked with logic for about a year before i bought the level 1 program, i figured out a pretty good amount, but the video helped fill in the gaps. since you are totally new to logic, i think you'll find it even more helpful. only complaint i have is martin sitter's voice! i know, i know, who cares, but really it's pretty intense. if nothing else, he's just got a funny accent. canadian i think.
