are there any programs out there to control the speed of the system fan, or am i stuck with what the motherboard wants?

I love my reobus . I have 6 fans all controlled from 0-12V. I run them a 7V all the time but it is nice to have the option to go higher if need be.

How to control system execon front page

I am using the system exec.vi to open an executable but want to control where it opens on the front screen and make sure it stays on top an in the same place each time I open the program, how do I achieve this?

Is this some third-party executable? If so, Windows will typically control this unless the application was written in such a way that it stored its last position and then places itself into that same position. You can use the Windows API to set the position of windows. The Windows API Function Utilities (32-bit) for LabVIEW contains a "Move Window" VI that you can use.
Note: Obviously I'm assuming you're using Windows. If you're using another operating system, there should be equivalent functions available.

By system toolbar I assume that you are talking about the default toolbar that forms automatically attaches if you do not have a customised toolbar. If you want to trap the event generated by the save button, you have to write a key-commit trigger at the form level. Here you can check do all validations.
A better and more foolproof way of doing it is to write when-validate-item triggers for all the items.

Mac Pro 1.1 How to control PSU fan

Dear Users
I have an upgraded (2 x X5355 8 core) Mac Pro 1.1 running 10.7.4. I routinely use SMCFanControl (the latest version) to ramp up the fans when I am running long, CPU-intensive jobs. However, SMCFanControl only changes three of the four fans - the PSU fan remains stuck on 600rpm, regardless of the settings. My PSU is getting pretty hot - 70+C, so I am looking for a way of cranking it up. Any suggestions will be greatfully received.

That's a good question. It's been a while since I've run my 1,1 Mac Pro, but I remember that smcFanControl could change everything but the PS fan (which is at the front of the PS brick, right behind the DVD drives - I just took the cover off and doublechecked). On my current Mac Pro, which has the same DVD/PSU layout, smcFanControl can control all the fans.

Temperature control system using thermocouples and cooling fans

Greetings labview community,
I'm fairly new to the labview program and though I have watched the tutorial videos and tried to search these forums I couldn't find a solution to my problem.
I need to write a program in labview that controls the temperature via use of fans inside a case with heatsinks and various electronic parts.
In particular I want to use two thermocouples, in order to measure the temperature of two transistors (one in each side of the case), where heatsinks are placed on top of them.
When the temperature is above 25 degrees, a fan should activate. The fans speed should be faster, the longer the temperature stays above 25 degrees, until it drops down to 25 degrees.
How can this be done? I thought of using a "mask and limit testing" for activating it, but I can't figure out how to control the speed of the fan in a loop automatically based on the temperature.
Here are some of my specifications:
USB-6009 (this was provided to me and is therefore my only option)
Labview 2011
NIDAQmx 9.5 driver
2 thermocouples (one for measuring the temperature for each transistor and activating one fan)
2 fans 0-5V
Below you'll see an attachment of the program I've wrote so far (just for one set of thermocouple-fan) and I'm using a slider to simulate the input from the thermocouple. If there is anymore information needed, tell me.

What you have is a general control problem. This statement:
"The fans speed should be faster, the longer the temperature stays above 25 degrees, until it drops down to 25 degrees. "
Is an indication that you at least need a PI-controller, or you could use a PID-controller. The I in PID stands for integral and that means that the longer you have the same value different from your reference the larger the control signal will be and thereby the faster the fan will spin.
I would recommend you to have a look at the following article to learn the basic principles of control theory:

To find the coefficients in your design you can either choose to make a mathematical approximation of your test setup and then calculate the three constants Kd, Ki, Kp using this model, or you can choose to estimate the parameters on a "trial-and-error" basis until you have the desired response time / overshoot i.e.
In general you should note that designing a control application on a General Purpose O/S as Windows will not give you deterministic timing, thus your control loop can be more unstable than expected, design your controller with this in mind! For the fan operation it should not be a problem but for more advanced control purposes your would always use a Real-Time system like the singleboardRIO, compactRIO or setting up a standard PC as a LabVIEW Real-Time Target (Converting a Desktop PC to a LabVIEW Real-Time Target - http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/2733)

How can I control my fan speed?

How can I control my fan speed on my macbook pro? I use SMC for gaming and streaming video from the internet when using my Mac OS, but I partitioned my drive and installed Windows 8 in order to play a different game (not a huge game) and the computer heats up dramatically when playing on Windows through Boot Camp to the point that it freezes every time (it never does this when playing a mac game or streaming on the normal partition Mac OS).
Any suggestions or programs to control fan speed of the mac from windows?

Get a cooling pad. That will much better than trying to constantly adjust fan speeds.

Hydraulic system - how to control a servo valve?

I just set up a oil hydraulic system and mechanism that is such a MTS(material test system).
And my question is how to let my cylinder go forward at a constant velocity.
Because when the cylinder contact my specimen(I have many different specimens), it will produce a reacting force and let the cylinder can't go forward at a constant velocity I set.
So I know it needs adjusting input voltage to servo valve .
I have looked much information from Ni discussion forums, but I totally have no idea about this.
I only know that I need to use PID control. My feedback signal is from LVDT.
What kind of ni card I need? I have pci-6033e, although its analogy outpout only can + - 10v.
At least, 6033e can let me test servo valve between -5v to 5v.
Can I use DAQ-card to achieve my goal? Because I'm not sure if 6033e supported pid toolkit.
By the way, this question is just the beginning.
I need to finish displacement control, force control, and fatigue loading control at 10Hz.
servo valve: + - 10v input , 0v is at centered position. 10v is P port 100% to A Port. threshold<0.1%

First thing when you say MTS do you Mean the Company located in
Minneapolis, MN that makes hydraulic test systems that do the type of
testing you describe or are using the word as an acronym? Yes, you
will need a closed loop control system to do all you want to do. The
system should have both a load cell for measuring the axial force
applied to a specimen and a LVDT for measuring the displacement of the
piston and provisions for either load or position control. My
recommendation is you use Labview strictly for data acquisition and
you you use an all analog control system in your application. With
position control you could use a ramp input to move the piston at a
constant velocity. You can build an analog PI controller fairly
easily. You should not use the D part of PID in a closed loop system
that uses a hydraulic piston for an actuator.

How to integrate ADF with ADE Source control system?

We are going to set up a team with ADF developers and we're totally new to ADF environment. The developers will be working on individual and common Applications/ projects. We're planning to use ADE as our source control system. How do we set up Jdev/ADF environment so that we can use Oracle ADE source control system to sync up all the changes by the developers. any ideas and pointers to the documents are appreciated.

Thing is i dont know how to enable CPU fan control/regulation ifd possible. Doesn't realy see anything anything in the mobo manual except mentioning AMD Cool’n’Quiet.
This fan i have installed is running fine but i thk it runs full speed all the time and that makes a lot of noise - not needed.

40 °C is fine. The minimum fan speed can be set is a % of the full capacity.
Start with 12.5% and if the fan needs to adjusts it's fan speed too often and it get's annoying you can raise it to 25% or more.

Of course I dont expect this. When you switch on the notebook CPU reach high temperature in few seconds only and you must not wonder if pretty high CPU temperature and fan activity will be shown very soon.
I dont know what do you expect but it is logic that cooling fan will run. Maybe all time maybe will be cut off for short period of time but it will run permanently. I dont see any problem there. With cooling method option it can be reduced a little bit.
And what is your question? I didnt understand what you want to know exactly.

Hi Crab,
If your Notebook is running hot then there are few methods you can try to maintain the Temprature.
1.) Go to www.hp.com/go/support website and go to Download Driver section listed under Support.
2.) Look for BIOS and download and install the latest one.
3.) Follow the on-screen instructions to install BIOS and NB might restart multiple times and make sure Ac-power Adapter is connected during the update/installation.
4.) From the Download Driver page, look for Software-Solutions and download HP CoolSense Technology software and install it.
(HP CoolSense Technology is a feature in some HP notebook PCs that combines hardware, software, and mechanical design to dynamically manage the temperature of a notebook).
5.) Restart the Notebook and check.
Also, check the below links for more troublshooting instructions for PC being warmer than normal.
