How to convert a DVD of EXEs to run on a Mac?

The government where I'm working has distributed DVDs with teacher's guides and course materials to teachers and volunteers working on a new environmental education project.  When I loaded the DVD into my SuperDrive, the DVD title showed up under "Devices" in Finder windows, but it was grayed-out and couldn't be opened.  (I had to go into Terminal and use "drutil eject" to get it out.)
Today I tested the DVD in a Windows laptop and it worked without any problems.  The interface is composed of Flash EXEs.  I can access all of the other files on the disk -- PDFs, PPTXs, &c. -- but they're all in one directory and not always well-named.  I'd like to be able to use the interface to access the files when I present to my students.
Does anyone know of a program I can run to convert this DVD into something useable on my Mac?  I do have access to a Windows laptop, and I was looking into DVD-to-ISO programs this morning, but I don't know if that would solve the problem of the interface being EXEs.  Any suggestions would be appreciated, thank you

EXEs cannot run on Mac OS. You'll need to install Windows on your Mac if you want to open them
I know this, that's why I'm asking if there is a way to convert the EXEs to something that can run on Mac OS.
Presently there is no way for me to legally install Windows on my laptop, though I do have access to a Windows laptop if there is some way for me to convert the files on the DVD.

  • How to convert a DVD disc for use in Final Cut Express 3.5

I have a DVD disc of a conference which I would like to edit in FCE 3.5.
I would like to be able to import it into my FCE project, ad use it without having to the render it in FCE.
Is it possible to rip or import the disc (with Handbrake?) and then export the resulting file so it can be used in FCE. I am especially keen that when the file is imported, it doesn't have to then be rendered. I have had a number of problems with QuickTime files being imported to FCE where they then need to be rendered in the timeline before I can use them.
If anyone can suggest the following I would be very appreciative:
1/ how to import the DVD disc- Handbrake?- what settings are best to use? MPEG4, H.264...
2/ once imported to my Mac Pro, how do I convert it for easy use in FCE.
Just to show you that I did try this before posting to this forum, I tried the following:
    1/ imported as a h.264 file with Handbrake (2hr video created a 2GB file)
2/ opened this file in an app called "MPEG Streamclip" and exported the file as a QuickTime file, and set as "Apple DV".
3/ BUT... the resulting file reached 17GB and then when imported to FCE, it couldn't be played in the timeline until I rendered it first- I didn't start this as it would have taken hours and hours!!
Any help or tips would be great
    Thanks,
    Simon

Unless you have the .swf files, I don't think you'll be able to simply convert the .exe files.  However, have you looked into running Windows on the Mac using a virtual machine?  If this sounds reasonable, check out the following links:

  • How to convert HD DVD to SD in PAL and NTSC - is the MXO2 the magic bullet?

I edited a 1 hour-long video of my college class reunion in FCP Studio 2, exported via Compressor and finally made it into a DVD with menus via DVDSP. Very neat so far, but there's a problem - the DVD is in HD, but I need to convert it to SD PAL to distribute to my old pals in the UK and SD NTSC for those who made it to the USA.
I'd like to do that without re-doing all the fancy menu-work in DVDSP, but how? Can anyone advise me, will the new Matrox MXO2 convert an input HD PAL signal to an SD PAL / or SD NTSC output which can be re-acquired into DVDSP and burned to disk?
Advice would be much appreciated, thanks.

Jerry, I appreciate your help with this. I exported the film from FCPS2 via Compressor as a PAL SD .mov, located the correct HD video asset in the DVDSP Build folder and replaced it with the new SD version, renamed to look like the HD asset.
On re-opening the project, DVDSP registers the fact that the video asset has changed (mainly affects menu items), but despite ensuring Preferences is set for SD, there seems no way of changing the format of its output from HD to SD.
Trying to hide the HD video asset in a sub-folder doesn't work - DVDSP re-names the new SD video as Filename (Video) 1.
Build command creates an HVDVD_TS folder containing the usual HD-type files. Creating a template in the hope of using the menu structure in a new SD project results in all the HD video assets coming with it.
I'm sure I'm being stupid, as usual, but can you point me in a better direction?
    Thanks

  • How to convert Windows 8.1 .exe file to ISO image for installation via Boot Camp?

I have a late 2013 retina display MacBook Pro and want to use Boot Camp to run one piece of software that is run exclusively on Windows operating systems.  I have a Windows 8.1 download from MS that is an .exe file, and I need to convert it (I believe) to an ISO image on a flash drive.  How do I convert the .exe file to an ISO image?

If you want to use Mac OS X at the same time as Windows, run one of these:
    VMWare Fusion
    Parallels
    Virtual Box (Open Source)
If you are willing to alternate Boot Windows -OR- Mac OS X, all you need is Bootcamp Assistant (and your Windows installer, of course.)
    >>NB In any case, do not allow Windows to directly modify the Partition Map or change the size of any Partition. That will wipe out the Partition Map, and Mac OS X. Windows is not a pleasant guest.

I am using netbeans and i have JRE 5 as well as JRE 6 installed.
I don't knw wat to do.Netbeans creates the .jar file for you,
Simply right click on the project node in nb and select
clean and buildnext goto the location of the project
    Eg:
C:\Documents and Settings\raghu0007\My Documents\NetBeans Projects\SimpleCalculcator\dist\There will usually be 2 files in there, 1 for the Gui parts and the other(.jar) the rest.
These two files must always be together (same directory for the jar file to work)
copy the dist folder to C:\Program Files\, Rename it and create a shortcut to the simplecalci.jar file
If you know the above just take a look at how you modified the MANAFEST file and the file(MF,class...) locations in the .jar

  • How to convert .vi file to .exe file.

Hi all, i have done up my .vi program and would like find out if there's a way to compile it into a .exe file so that the users of this program do not need install labview and then download my .vi program.
I'm hoping this .exe file will enable the user to launch and use the .vi program straight away.
Fyi, i am using Labview version 8.5
If any one knows how to perform the above operation please let me know. Thanks alot.

Yes, the LabVIEW runtime engine (LRTE) will have to be loaded on any machine that a LabVIEW "exe" is to run on. As the previous posters have said you need to either be developing with the "Professional Developer" package or have purchased the"Application Builder". With either of those (the App builder is an add on that is included with the Professional Developer pacakge) you can create an installer that will install the Runtime engine, or the end user can download it from the NI site. The LRTE is pretty big, around 171 Mb at the moment, so downloading might not be the optimal method for the "customer".
Microsoft has a similar requirement for their products (Visual Basic, etc.), the "runtime engine" equivalent is installed with the Windows installation.

  • How to Convert Externalizable objec to Serializable at Run Time

    Urgent Help needed ...
    Original Problem
We are using Externalizable object through the system .We keep track of versioning with field in each object ...
This version is common software version...
We change that version every two or three week ...
    suppose for
    My software Version is 2
and suppose if someone add a new field to any object we put a checking in readExternal to not read that field is the version is less than 2
    Now the problem is say
    1)We make a version 2 on June 10
2)Some one save a object on June 11
3)Some one add a new field in any object and put the checking of Version 2
4)Now object saved in step 2 cannot be read once step 3 is performed...
How do we solve this issue ?
We do not intend to add the class Version in each class at this stage. ...
    Issue 2
Other issue related to issue 1 itself
We plan to convern the object to xml using some technology of Xstream
Now issue 1 can be solved atlease if my all the object were of type Serializable and NOT EXTERNALIZABLE
So my Second Question is is there a way to convert a Externalizable object to Serialiable object just for my purpose when i m converting to xml and vice versa .....

It seem i have not properly explained to you guys my
    problem
I cannot change the code of existing object which are
    Externalizable..
Nor can i solve the versioning issue That block of
    source code i cannot touch
all i want is somehow convert the object so that they
are not instance of Externalizable Well it seems pretty hopeless then doesn't it.
My advice? Give up. You seem pretty lost and when people respond by basically saying they can't solve the problem in any reasonable way then it's pretty much a lost cause.
Good luck with your hopeless task. I see nothing but upset in your future.
