How to convert an .aiff to Apple Loop in Soundtract Pro 2.0.2

Hi,
I am trying to convert an .aiff or an .mp3 to an Apple Loop to change the clip speed and transpose it. How do I do that form inside Soundtrack Pro 2.0.2?
I am new to Soundtrack pro.
Thanks a lot,
Izabela

Hello Pascal,
an "easy" way would be to have a "Main.VI", where you put in all VI's from the llb as subVI's and then save the Main.vi "with options" as "LV6.02" to a new llb.

  • How To Convert  Aif Samples Into Apple Loops

i have a aif library of samples i want to convert into apple loops. to function the same as apple loops and catagorize them. whats the best way to do this?
    thanks

It doesn't know, just guesses based on length assuming common time, from what I have witnessed. So, if your loop is in 3 ( for example ) or the original tempo is far from 120-ish ( as in, much closer to 60 or 240 ) you will probably have to set those tags manually. Otherwise, determining tempo from length is a pretty simple calculation.

  • How to make a song as Apple loop?

    Hi there,
I'm working on 'dj mix' and liked to make couple of songs as apple loops.
Dont want to use 'Time and Pitch Machine' as I want to change tempo and see how they mix together...let's say starting mix from 130 and ending up to 138bpm.

Note that this does not change the iTunes account of these songs. This simply adds them to the iTunes library you are using.
Also note than once you do this, you will have to wait 90 days to redownload any iTunes purchases from any other iTunes account, including the original iTunes account.

I just went through this and it appears that my Focusrite Saffire was the culprit. I connected all the outputs on the focusrite according to the way the jacsk on the back were labeled and then set up the multichannel speaker setup to match. Then I went into STP, created a pink noise clip and panned it around, the LFE, center and rears were not in the right place.
I reconnected the hardware to match the 5.1 pan pot in STP then changed the multichannel speaker setup to match. Everything appears to be correct now but I would have loved to have been able to just assigned the output busses to correct outputs in the saffire.
Next step is to pan that pink noise around with my SPL meter to calibrate the room.

  • How to reproduce Building Blocks Synth apple loop

hi, a very specific question that you cant answer unless you listen to sample in question -  a sample in LPX apple loops called Building Blocks Synth. There is a bass line and a recurring synth chord which closes out every time it appears I  think with some kind of filter effect - a bit like a closing hi hat on a plucky synth - a sound I  just think is fantastic, but for the life of me cannot work out how it is done. If you get a chance can you cast your expert ear and for those experts , let me know how you think you get the synth sound and  effect. You can hear it better if you copy into a track and boost the high end and low end  EQ .
I would not normally ask such a question on here but it is bugging me and I could spend my life looking at tutorials to try and work out what it is but not get there.
Many thanks in advance for anybody who takes the time to listen to it.
A related question if anyone happens to know: if I include the loop in a song and successfully commercialise it, is it royalty fee?

I have a a problem a bit like the one described previously.
In Set. 2007 I bought my first mac...an iMac 24".
3-4 months later I had trouble with my HD. The tech support told me that my HD was damaged and could not be fixed. They couldn`t explain why, but they changed my old HD with a new one and problem solved.
Last month as I was installing the snow leopard operating sistem my iMac froze in the midle of the instalation procedure. I turned it off holding down the power button, and when I turned the power back on I got that flashing folder with a question mark in the middle. In short...after trying everything (formating, partitioning etc) I took it to the shop to hava a look.
The tech guy just got off the phone with me saying that my HD was damaged and could not be repaired. The only solution is to replace it with a new one.
    In 2 years I had to change 2 HD`s!!!!
My only guess is that bootcamp might have something to do with it cause it frooze the computer lots of times requiring me to turn it off by pressing and holding down the power button one to many times.
Does anybody know any other reason for this to have happended?
Could the installation of snow leopard have had anything to do with this?

Note that this creates a new copy in ALAC. The previous version is still in iTunes.

    1) How does Final Cut Pro 6 handle native HDV?
    Just like FC5.... no worries
    2) Is it beneficial to convert to Pro Res 422
Just like the Cineform codec you will benefit from an all i-frame codec when working with titles and graphics. I wouldn't recommend capturing native then converting to ProRez as this will take an extremely long time. Many have found editing native up until the compositing then dropping the sequence into a ProRez timeline to render. I prefer to uncompress the HDV with hardware into a capture card and transcode on capture in real time. Depending on the flavor of HDV and the equipment you use you can probably find a method for this. I shoot run & gun field work on to tape, then with the deck I can export via HDMI and together with another product from Convergent Design it is converted to HD-SDI in the a Kona LHe into FC. The benefit for me is the all digital decompression from 1440x1080 4:2:0 to a 1920x1080 4:2:2 uncompressed HD-SDI signal to use anyway I need to. As to which level of PR I can't comment but I have used the lower level and it looks great. As to raid setup I can recommend www.maxupgrades.com to help you add two - four more drives internally for unbelievable speed and expanded storage space you will want. The owner (Syed) will give you all the support you need to take advantage of the Mac Pro capabilities for a low cost high performance raid solution. Sounds like you have a great setup in mind, you may want to look into the Kona LHe capture card for capturing and monitoring and a Convergent Design product like the HD-Connect SI or MI depending on the deck you are using. If you need broadcast quality monitoring look into the Matrox MXO.

  • Apple loops in logic pro 7

If i use a drum loop in logic.. would i be able to remove the the kick drum or snare in certain parts of the song? eg..for build ups and break downs. i know in reason if you use a drum loop you can remove parts of the sample. because the sample is rex formatted (in slices).

Just in case you don't already know, the EXS24 can import a REX file and in one step it assigns the individual slices to keys and exports the MIDI file to the selected sequencer track. It's quicker than loading a REX into DrRex.
The only problem is you can't preview REX files like you can in DrRex.
Phatmatik Pro is the other way to accomplish the same thing.
All of them have unique and different features/options.

  • Does anybody have an idea how to pre-tune an apple loop that is slightly off pitch?

    Aloha,
Does anybody have an idea how to pre-tune an apple loop that is slightly off pitch?
I have a great 44.1K minor key shamisen phrase sample that is 66 cents below C. I want to make it an apple loop and assign it's key to C minor. How would you suggest I do this so that when I use the subsequent apple loop it is in tune?
    Thanks in advance,
    Tony

Wow . . . seems strange that there are no responses. There are a lot of nice off-pitch samples out there and it would be great not to have to adjust them every time.
I did come up with a work around. Most of my sample editors introduce artifacts when I change the pitch so here's what I did. Using Sound Studio (great, btw) I made a loop and changed the pitch non-destructively. In this case my sample, played at -66 cents, became tuned to C. Noting that value, I used an internet cents to frequency converter (http://www.sengpielaudio.com/calculator-centsratio.htm) to come with the number to multiply with my original sample frequency. I changed my sample to this frequency (without resampling) then resampled it back to its original 48K. Now I was able to convert it to an apple loop perfectly tuned to C.
    Cheers!

  • Can automator turn thousands of samples into Apple Loops? (VSL rep/runs)

    Hello everyone,
First off, I'm familiar with how to build my own apple loops and find them to be VERY useful, especially in the application I'm about to describe. However, I find it quite tedious to build them manually, especially when dealing with thousands of samples. Thus I'm looking for the best/easist way to create apple loops, hopefully using Tigers "automator."
Heres my situation: I use/love VSL sample libs, which contain many articulations/phrases, but some of these are "tempo specific" such as the numerous instrument runs, repetition files, glissandos, crescendos, etc, and when doing a film score I cannot let tempo specific files dictate the tempo of the piece (the film does that). Thus I've started taking some of the VSL samples (especially the repetition and runs) and turning them into apple loops, which conform to the tempo of the piece. Within reason, the results are WONDERFUL allow me to continue to use these very realistic phrases at almost any tempo!
However, I've grown tired of manually converting these files to apple loops, and thus have only converted a handful of these phrases into apple loops. Whats worse is when I'm forced to stop the creative process to turn a phrase into an apple loop only to find that after all that time creating the loop, it doesnt work!
Is it possible to use Tigers automator to automatically convert .wav files into apple loops? This would be a great time saver, and would possibly allow for turning the thousands of samples into apple loops. Anyone currently doing this type of thing? Is it worth it in the end?
Thanks in advance for any help/tips you can provide.

    Hi Jonathan,
You can use Logic to create AIFFs of these files very quickly.
    Then, open them in ALU.
    Select all files.
    Change 1 field.
    Save.
You now have Apple Loops -- they will have a few few things automatically inserted such as guessed tempi -- they will almost always be set to 4/4 to the tempo closest to 120(?)... but they will load and many will load usably for your needs.
Now, I don't know exactly what you are facing with this concept but it sounds like a very big job and this will still leave much time hand tuning. If this is true, I recommend you have a look at Accelerando:
    http://www.eigentoneresearch.com/Accelerando.html
Accelerando contains several tools which will substantially decrease the tedium - and yes, it does use Automator. It works directly with Logic Pro, Apple Loops Utility - and more. Ultimately, you may be able to create workflows which handle this task with 1 gesture per Apple Loop - although a large library of workflows would be required to accomplish this to most users expectations so 2 or more gestures is more likely. of course, you can try to set up a more intelligent scheme if, say, the files can be filtered by an attribute such as their name.

  • How to convert .caf files to WAV, MP3, WMA etc

I use QuickVoice free app on my ipad2 to record memos. I’ve just found out how to convert the files and play them on my Windows computer. First I used this program call QuickVoice Sync to copy my recording on my computer, used this link:
    www.nFinityInc.com/QuickVoiceSyncWin.exe   - for Windows
    www.nFinityInc.com/QuickVoiceSyncMac.zip   - for Mac users
to download QuickVoice Sync onto your computer. Open the program up and it firsts asks you to backup your files, which I did through iTunes and iCloud just incase. Then I clicked import, the program then searched for my recording and copy them into a new folder in my documents called QuickVoice. My recording in the folder were .caf files which I couldn't open in Windows so I used a program called Audacity. Use this link to download:
    http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/
I downloaded the program and opened up one of my .caf files my clicking 'file', then 'open' in Audacity. When the files was opened I clicked 'file' again then clicked 'export' to convert my .caf file to WAV file for example. You can change the type of file my scrolling through the different types of files available by clicking the box next to 'save as type', I chose 'WAV (Microsoft) 16bit PCM' then click save. You can also change where you save the file by clicking another location before you click 'save'.
I can now play these files in Windows Media Player on my computer or playing them in my QuickVoice app on my ipad2.
Hope this helps, if there are any questions please ask and I will try to answer the best I can. I figured this out myself and I’m not a big pro in computers so I will do my best to answer any quires.
