How to convert and import MTS files from my Sony NEX 10e into iMovie for editing?
Hi, dear all,
I have hard time to bring in my footage shoot using Sony NEX 10e camcorder into iMovie 11 for editing. Is there anyway I can convert these MTS files foe editing in IMovie 11?
Thanks in advance!!
Kevin
Some frame rates and resolution combos will not import into iMovie directly. That's true. For instance, 1920x1080 @ 60 progressive frames per second (meaning not interlaced), that is not compatible with iMovie and you might need to convert it using a program like ClipWrap. Also if you have just the 'bare' .mts files, iMovie will not be able to import those either. iMovie expects to find all the folders and auxiliiary files recorded onto the memory card when you shoot AVCHD video. It needs all those extra pieces to navigate to the video clips and subsequently convert them from .mts to Apple Intermediate Codec. So in the case where you have a 'bare' .mts file use Voltaic HD to do the conversion.

I am trying to convert game footage that is in MTS format to something that I can edit into a quick highlights video. I have final cut express and the standard IMovie '09. looking for easiest solution, everything seems to involve using one application to convert to Quicktime and then dropping file into Iphoto etc. is there an easy way?
I'm not completely sure that MPEG Streamclip can convert AVCHD footage (.mts files). If MPEG Streamclip doesn't do the job, then get a copy of Clipwrap, which was designed for transcoding .mts files to QuickTime/Apple Intermediate Codec (that's the format/codec you need to convert the .mts files to for use in FCE).

How to import MTS files from Canon Vixia HF M40 to Mac for editing?
I recently bought a Canon Vixia HF M40 and I have been able to import the MTS video files to iMovie, but now that I want to edit in Adobe Premiere, I am at a loss. Can someone tell me an easy way to import these files to either my computer or into the program itself for editing. It is entirely too time consuming to import into iMovie and convert every single file to quicktime only to import into Premiere and export yet again (not to mention the quality loss). Thank you for any help you can give me.

Luis,
Just to clarify one point…in order for Streamclip to convert the MTS I believe a plug-in like the AVCCAM QuickTime importer from Panasonic needs to be installed. (Credit David McClain over at the FCS boards for that info.)

When i try to upload a .mts file from my Sony camera to Premiere Pro CC it refuses to play the audio! Ofcourse i could convert every single clip but it takes tons of time. How can i make Pr play audio track properly?
Does it not play at all or cannot you get the audio in the timeline?
Did you copy the entire card to the hdd and then imported the file via the Media Browser?
Did you source patch the audio tracks? -
How import mts file from sony nx5 in final cut pro
how import mts file from sony nx5 in final cut pro
LOG AND TRANSFER. I have the full workflow here:
http://library.creativecow.net/ross_shane/tapeless-workflow_fcp-7/1
Make sure you are running FCP 7.0.3. That version deals with files from the NX5 the best. If you are on a previous version, like FCP 6....you will need to use CLIPWRAP2 from Divergentmedia.com. As the specific AVCHD format the NX5 uses is something that FCP 6 cannot really deal with.
Gotta love new camera formats. -
Importing MTS Files from Canon HF100
I am unable to import MTS files from my Canon HF100 SD card (or camera with card inserted) into iMovie 08. The files are grayed out. I have no problem importing standard definition files from the SD card. There are conflicting posting on this topic (some people appear to have no problems). Apple support tells me I need to get a conversion program. However, the Canon HF100 is listed as a compatible camcorder. I would appreciate any assistance. Thanks.
JeremyIt seems like you shouldn't have to convert the files in case there is any loss in quality or file info. If you've only saved the .mts files to your hard drive you might try re-loading them onto the camera using the software that came with the HF100 (i forget was this is called and whether it even works on a Mac - i used a PC). The file structure will be reestablished and then the mac should be able to read it, whether the camera is plugged into the computer via usb, or if you plug the SD card into the usb port.
I haven't tried the whole sequence described above but I've used a variation of it to put movies back on the camera, and also to convert the file structure back onto an SD card that was read by iMovie and a Playstation 3.
In the future remember to download the entire file structure from the SD card if you want to save to a hard drive.
I'm about to install Final Cut Express 4 and work with my HF100 videos so I guess I'll find out soon enough how easily the HF100 files are imported with that. -
Re AppleMan 1958 excellent user tip: How can I import a homemade DVD into iMovie for editing? -
I've followed instructions with success until "You can then FILE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME and choose Apple Intermediate Codec as your video codec. " How do I do that?
I installed MGEG Streamclip 193b8 and used their utility to install quicktimempeg2 and got a message stating it was successfully installed. (I'm on latest Maverick 10.9.2 on iMac) Then I dragged the VIDEO_TS file from my home DVD into the streamclip app. It asked which of 4 files to use, and I selected the first one. Streamclip played the video with the sound. so far so good. but now I cannot figure how to use quicktime player 10.3 to export this vob file out of streamclip.Thank you for your quick reply and for clearing up my confusion. I'm exporting the first section now. I choose the smallest size, 3x4 but I'd prefer to go higher as this DVD was originally a VHS home movie. I'm wondering if after three conversions (VHS,->DVD->MPEG) the resolution will be so poor as to not support a larger size frame? If it can, what size should I select when I export?

How do I move all my files from one User Profile (account) into another?
I needed to create a new account and want all of my files accessible in the new one.ok, what you're learning right now is 101 unix, which is good. Unix is a good thing
now: the way unix works, and macos (which uses unix underneath) the files and folders work like a hierarchy.
the start of that tree is /
so, if you were to do:
cd /
(cd means change directory)
it will bring you at the highest branch of the file system.
cd /Users
will bring you to where all the users are.
to see whats in /Users you can use your friend ls command
ls means list files/directories
so:
cd /Users
ls -la
(the -la here means show all (even hidden) and long format (very verbose)) this flag is very optional.
you will see
fred
user2
for example.
if you want to see the desktop of user2 you would change directory to it then list the files.
for example:
cd /Users/user2/Desktop
Note that the files and directory are case sensitive, so, desktop is NOT the same as Desktop, or DESKTOP
ls -la
you should then be able to see everything in users2 desktop
you could have done as well the same thing in smaller steps, for example:
cd /
cd Users
cd user2
cd Desktop
this is the equivalent of cd /Users/user2/Desktop
So, for your file, i don't know where it was, but know that if you log in as user2, it will directly put you in
/Users/user2
which most likely the file you had created from the other user was in /Users/user1
if you copied all the files from /Users/original_user to /Users/secondUser
most likely yes, all your mail, bookmarks etc would be copied over.
so in your case.
sudo chown -R seconduser:staff /Users/secondUser
should work
Remember that if you start a path with the character / it means start from the root of the file system, at the highest top you can ever get.
so
cd /Users/fred
is not the same as
cd Users/fred
unless you were in / already
i know it may be confusing at first but it's actually very logical if you play with it.
to simplify, think of it that / means C:\ on windows
you can't go any higher than C:\ (in a way)
if you're unsure which directory you're currently in, you can always type:
pwd
it will tell you where you are.
for example:
cd /
pwd
this shows /
cd Users
pwd
this now shows /Users
cd /System/Library
pwd will show /System/Library
cd /
cd /Users
cd fred
cd Library
pwd will show /Users/fred/Library
unix can look very scary but it's actually vital and very necessary to do tasks sometimes that would take for ever to do via the windows. This is good learning.
so for the myfile you had created, i can't tell you where it is, at the time you created, if you can do a pwd command you'll know the path,
ls -la (this shows all the files where you are)
if you see myfile in the list
do a pwd
whatever is return, the real location of the file would be:
whatever pwd returned / myfile
I hope that makes sense. -
How to upload and download any file from plsql through weblogic server
hi all,
how to upload and download any file from plsql through weblogic server? i am using oracle 10g express edition and jboss.
Thanks and Regards,
MSORAhi bala ,
for a windown server u can use VNC (virtual network connection) which opens a session on u r desktop later u can drag and drop form there vice versa and for a linux box you can use Win SCP which helps to open a session with interface to u r desktop in both cases you can upload and down load files very easiy just as we drag and drop items in a simple pc .. we use the same technique...

HT3905 importing iFrame files from my Panasonic HX-DC2 to iMovie?
importing iFrame files from my Panasonic HX-DC2 to iMovie?
After searching the internet I ended up buying VoltaicHD for $30 by downloading it from the "Shedworx" website. The way it works is: you attach the HDC-SD9 to your MAC with the supplied USB cable. The HDD and SD card will show up on your desktop. If you open each one, you'll find a file called "Stream" which will contain all of your video clips. Drag and drop each file to the Voltaic window and start the decompression process by simply hitting start. Tell Voltaic where you want the files to be stored on your computer and then be very patient, because the process can take a long time. But it does work. The MTS files in your camera are converted to Quicktime files which can be imported to Final Cut or iMovie. It's time consuming, but you do get HD files out of the process, although the audio is only stereo and not 5.1 surround sound.

I can no longer import raw files from my Panasonic Lumix LX5 into Aperture 3.3.2 - raw files from my other Canon cameras are fine. Am still running Lion (10.7.4) - NOT Mountain Lion. Tried all available software updates - all up to date apparently but still no joy. OS X Lion shows the LX5 as a supported file format. I dont want to have to upgrade to Mountain Lion just to see if this solves the problem. Any ideas please.
Since when did this happen? Directly after you upgraded to Aperture 3.3.2?
If it happened directly after the upgrade the problem may be, that the raw support for your camera got lost. For some posters it helped to register the raw support again, see this post by Alan Roseman:
Aperture 3 preview of raw file greenish
If this does not help, you may need to reinstall Lion to bring back the raw support.
But if the problem occured independent of a new installation, ypu may have a problem with your camera or the card you are using. Have you tried to use a different card or to reformat the card in the camera? -
Import .MTS files from AG-HMC40P panasonic
Hi,
I am new on both final cut X and my new camera Panasonic AG-HMC40P from panasonic. Therefor I have some, perhaps, very basic questions that I hope You can help me with based on problems with import.
And forgive - my english is not the best - i know!
1. Does this camera (what is the "callname" for this camera?) allways shoot in .MTS files?
2. When i want to import the 5 files, and i put in the SD-card in my Imac, the files are found in a folder in Private > AVCHD > BDMV > > STREAM - is this the right place for them to be?
I think the quality was very grey and unclear, but maybe that was my own fault based on cameraskills more than the import.
I then copy the files to the desktop (drag and drop) and opens FC X. When I choose import I can choose between "from Media, Imovie project, imovieEventLibrary or XMnL." It is not poosible for me to choose" Reimport from camera/Archive".
Should I have opened Imovie and copyed the files in there and then choose import from imovie project? would the quality be even worse from this? I guess it would make the files smaller in size and therefore a worse quality?
Could i import the files from the camera instead using a USB cabel, and should i then choose Reimport from camera/archive or? And whay does it say reimport?
There is no log and transfer / capture like i know from fc6...
Or should i choose import from media. When i do, the SD card opens up and i can import the files from there?
Or should i convert it to e.g appleprores maybe using Mpeg streamclip? That is what I was used to (worked on canon60D and fc6 before)
What settings should fc X have when i edit the files?
When i export the film, what settings should it have? H264 ?
Hope someone will help. I know it is a lot, but I am really ,lost. I have looked at some previously posts about this subject but I did not understand theese fully.
Thanks
Lise1. Yes. The format it shoots is called AVCHD. .mts is just the video stream, but the card holds a lot more data about the media that's needed by FCP.
2. Do NOT copy the .mts files from the card. Either import from the card or import from a camera archive. You have to copy the whole card, everything that's on the card into a folder or camera archive. Once you've done that, simply use Cmd-I and select the folder. Nothing else. You do ever have to go inside the card folder structure.
You can't use Streamclip for this.
You use the same settings in FCP as your media. When you put a video clip first into a project it will set the project properties.
When you export depends on where you're exporting to. There are many, many options for sharing.
Get a good book or online video tutorial.
