How to convert and replace itunes m4a playlist with mp3 playlist

In Itunes, I want to convert a playlist of 200 songs from m4a to mp4 but don't want to have to struggle with creating the new playlist (ie, making a list of the songs and finding them in the library and dragging them into the new replacement playlist) or deleting the old m4a songs from the library (finding them and deleting them either by hunting them down or identifying the m4a duplicates and deleting them).
I know I can convert them en masse within itunes but then I've got to hunt them down in the library to recreate the new playlist and delete the old m4as.
I can't seem to come up with a smooth way of doing that. I thought I could drag them from itunes to my desktop, or even to a flash drive, but when I drag them back into itunes they don't come back in as mp3s but remain m4as (I did set the preferences import settings to mp3 so I don't know why that aspect doesn't work for me).
Any suggestions for how to do this efficiently would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, and thanks again for your input. I will do whatever works. Conversion works fine to convert, but then I have to hunt down each of the 200 newly converted songs to recreate the playlist of mp3s, and then hunt down each of the old files in the library to delete them.
So I tried to figure out another way to do it. It occured to me that if I exported the songs and then re-imported them, then they would be imported as mp3s due to the preference setting in Itunes, but I can't make that happen (they come back in as m4a). If I could, I thought I could just import (drag them in) to a new playlist and then I could delete the old playlist - allthough the problem then would be that the old playlist songs would still be in the library, but I think I read where I could do something like option delete (from within the old playlist) to actually remove the files from the library. Then I wouldn't have to hunt for the old songs.
My ignorance is due to my not using the proper terminology. I just saw the suffix is mp3 so I figured people would know what I meant. Same for m4a which probably also has a more correct term than that.

Easiest way to do it is the following:
- Open the PDF file in Acrobat.
- Go to Tools - Forms - More Form Options - Export Data.
- Save the form data as an XML file somewhere on your system.
- Open XML the file in a plain-text editor (I recommend Notepad++).
- Let's say you want to replace all the years in the dates from "2013" to "2014". Do a global Search&Replace of "2013-" to "2014-" (I added the dash just to make sure that only date fields are edited).
- Save the XML file (maybe under a new name).
- Go back to the PDF file, and now go to Tools - Forms - More Form Options - Import Data.
- Select the edited XML file and import it.
- Done!

SharePoint Calc Column - How to Find and Replace ANY & ALL Values with Something Else

Haven't found a solution on this even though it seems like it should be cut and dry.
I have a column containing characters "-" (e.g., XXX123-123-fjhrh-sdafsdfsd). I want to find every "-" and replace it with "@". Seems easy but so far haven't found a solution. My calc column always seems to stop at the first
occurence of "-" and only replace that one. Seems every forumula wants you to tell SharePoint where to start (position). You can't simply tell SharePoint, Find this "-" ALL OCCURENCES and replace with this "@" ALL OCCURENCES.
I don't have the option of saying start at this position because my data is not the same in every cell/field (e.g., number of characters).
Closest I've gotten is this:

RESULTS:

The formula only works when there are only three "-" in the column value, and the formula will fail if there are more than or less than three "-" in the column value.
I recommend to use Jquery code to replace the characters in the column called IN THIS COLUMN in the UI:

Convert AND REPLACE all my Songs to MP3

I want to save space on my iPod, so I want to convert my entire library to MP3. None of the songs are protected. I'm on a PC.
I know I can select all the songs, and choose Advanced/Create MP3 version, but then I'll have two versions of every tune, and no way to easily select and delete the non-MP3 versions.
I've googled and found no info on this, though I would think that many people want to do exactly this.

I have a brand-new iPod Nano (1st generation) with 4 GB capacity, given to me in 2007. I am just getting around to trying to install and use it, but when I try to download the iTunes 7.4 software, I get a message that I need at least Windows XP or Vista to install and use the software with the iPod Nano. I only have Windows 2000 on my computer, which is company owned (so I am not allowed to update my Windows software). I don't if this issue is before or since installation of 10.8 (a nightmare in my case, which led to significant failure issues). And because I haven't tried to remove templates since finally managing to install 10.8 (now at 10.8.4), I don't know if this is typical of the newer OS or a problem. I've been a Mac user for more than 25 years, but I think I'm nearing the end of the road. By the way, I've never needed to do this before because the manuals always offered an answer... they don't seem to do that anymore. In any case, I don't know how this works... I had fomer colleagues at [a major aerospace contractor] who told me that so many original files were ultimately lost because of the deadly change in the "Save As" operation that they are now afraid of every OS update. Apple has badly damaged their support base with that very prominent company (they won't update now until they've fully examined and understand changes in the pre-conditioned nature of OS computer functions), and they are a whole lot less enthaled with Mac-related equipment/software. Can't blame them, I too used orginal files that way (as easy-to-use templates), and lost some important files before I realized what was happening (to late to revert). Companies should not have to retrain employees each time an OS gets an update, it's can be very expensive several different ways. They learned a painful lesson with that one. And because I'm now retired and don't use multiple devices, I need iCloud like I need a hole in the head... but I'm told there's no way to keep Apple out of my computer. Fortunately, because of major problems when initially installing Mountain Lion, one hold-over of the hardware/software damage I experienced was that iCloud can no longer access my computer even though everything else is working fine again. That was the only "good luck" I had as a result of that expensive nightmare.

You can't, not in Acrobat anyway.
This is the kind of thing that should be done in the original file format,
not in a PDF.
