How to Convert Crystal Enterprise v10.0 Business Views to BOE XI?

Hi,
It took a long time, but my company FINALLY upgraded from Crystal Enterpise and Crystal Reports v10.0.  We just purchased BusinessObjects Edge XI and Crystal Reports 2011.  I went to the training class a few months ago, but due to the delay in our actually getting the applications, I feel as though I've forgotten most of what I was taught!
With the old version, we built all our reports off Business Views (using Business View Manager - which was an add-on component of Crystal Enterprise) that are sourced from an Oracle database.  I have over 420 report files that are built against these business views.
I have tried to open a report in Crystal Reports 2011, and I'm prompted to log in to BusinessObjects Enterprise to load the business view.  When I enter the credentials for the NEW system that I just installed (a brand new install on a new server), I get an error "Access Denied:  You cannot log into an older version of the CMS."  So obviously the stored business views that are trying to load have the old system information associated with them.  Understandable.
I cannot find Business View Manager in the new BOE XI.  Is it an add-on?  Where can I get it?  Can I even convert my old business views?  If not, am I going to have to rebuild all my data sources?
I don't know what a "Universe" is - and I've never used them - but is that similar to a Business View?
The problem I get is that if I try to associate a new data source (I tried direct Oracle connection), all the fields in my report disappear when the old (unloadable) business view is removed.  Essentially this would require me to rebuild all my reports!
I'm not sure what to do here.  I have 420+ reports to convert so we can load them on this new server, and I have only about 2 weeks to do it.  If I have to rebuild them all, there is no way I can complete this in time for our cutover.
ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!  (I'm new to this "forum" thing, too - so if I'm not doing this right or if there is some other place I should be putting this, please let me know)
Thanks,
Amber Smith

Hi Amber,
Thank you for the reply.
Well if you can logon to Business Objects Server then you can see the Business View Manager from Start menu-> All Programs-> Business Objects Enterprise XI 3.1-> Business View Manager
or else you can look for business view manager executable file in c:\program files\business objects\business objects enterprise 12.0\win32_x86\CrystalBVM.exe
When you open Crystal reports, there is an option to change the datasource of an existing report to any other datasource. The only condition that should be met is that the structure of new datasource should be similar to the existing one.
I have not changed the business view datasource to universe, but i will try it and let you know.
Thanks,
Kuldeep G

  • Upgrading from Crystal Enterprise 10 to Business Objects Enterprise 11

    Here's the situation:
We decided to upgrade from Crystal Enterprise 10 on server A to Business Objects Enterprise 11 on server B. We went with the method of importing all the objects and users from Crystal Enterprise 10 to Business Objects Enterprise 11. The import also brought in all the DB connection settings that were set in Crystal Enterprise 10. I also brought over all the ODBC System DSNs so that those can be consisten with the old server.
The problem we are having is that the reports are failing due to the connections to the database. I thought importing the database connection settings from Crystal Enterprise 10 along with bringing over the ODBC System DSNs would not make this an issue but it hasn't.
I checked the server logs in SQL and it's telling me that it's trying to log into the server as NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON. Shouldn't it try to log under whatever I define in the report's database settings or ODBC System DSNs?
These same reports work fine in Crystal Reports and Crystal Enterprise 10.

go into the properties of the report and verify that the Database Login values are still set.  I found that it doesn't always transfer those when doing the import.

  • Upgrading from Crystal Enterprise 10 to Business Objects XI R3

    Hi Guys,
I am upgrading from Crystal Enterprise 10 to Business Objects XI R3.  The server which have Crystal Enterprise 10 is not on the network, please let me know to copy CMS database from CRE10 (Not on the network) to BOXIR3.

    Thanks

you will need access to the CMS DB and FRS from CE10 in order to migrate to XI 3.x, typically this is accomplished via network. If you can restore them to the same computer a side by side (install CE10 and XI 3.x on the same server) may work as well.

CRS is limited to single server installs, it has less functionality such as no auditing. Enterprise can be clustered across many servers, has auditing and webi/deski from E6. So which one is best would depend on the size of your planned implementation and the features that you want.

  • Crystal Reports-Universe and Business Views. Pros & cons. BVs to Universe

    Hi Gurus,
We have around 500 + Crystal Reports developed on top of Business Views, Stored Procedures, Command Objects and some directly connected to the tables. No Universes are there in our current environment and all reports undergo frequent changes.
We are planning to replace Business Views with Universe and use them as data provider for existing Crystal Reports and also planning to do some ad-hoc reporting using Web-Intelligence. I have expertise in developing both Crystal Reports and Web Intelligence reports. But I never designed any complex Crystal Reports against Universe / Business Views.  I heard that there are several issues with Crystal against Universe (e.g.: Cascading Prompts, LOVs, Row Level Security etc...) Most of our Crystal Reports have several sub-reports and some dynamic cascading parameters.
We currently have not finalized any tool. Some are advising not to disturb the current environment and some say migrating to Universe is a good option because Business View manager tool is going to be trashed in few years.  My personal view is to used both Crystal and Web-I and replace Business Views with Universe because we can use it for both Crystal and Web-I.
Can you please post your views on this?
Also, please post the issues (& solutions) you got with Crystal Reports against Universe. Also advantages and disadvantages of using Universe over Business Views.
Environment: Business Objects XI R2 and Crystal Reports XI R2
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Many thanks,
    Shamanth.

    Hello,
you can find an article about Crystal Reports on Universe here:
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/20984c2b-17f1-2b10-1091-d18977f7cd8f
As you said, an important item to consider is reusability: if you want to reuse your work between Crystal and WebI then you have to go with Universes.  If you are ok in keeping the two in separate worlds then Business Views can still bring a lot of value to CR.  Business views will stay in the market still for a long time (in mainteinance, so don't expect new features).
Looking at the future, we expect that In the long term, business views will be replaced by universes. Keeping this in mind, a migration of a report from an 'older' version of a universe to a new one will probably go smoother than a migration from a business view to a universe.
    Hope that it helps

  • How to convert Crystal 8.5 Reports that use queries to Crystal XI reports

    We were using the following:
    Crystal Reports version 8.5
    Crystal SQL Designer 8.0.0.0
    CRW32 8.0.0.8
We have now migrated to Crystal XI.
Most of our reports use queries created in the Crystal SQL Designer.
This is the message we receive when I open a report in Crystal XI that uses a query:
Reports based on Crystal Dictionary or Crystal Query are no longer supported.  Please change these reports to use Business Views.
How do I convert a Crystal report that uses a query to use a Business View?
    Thanks,
    Mac Bradley

    Hi Mac,
There is a Database Migration Wizard that was available but the link is broken now. I'm tracking down where we can get it from. Check your CD, it may be on the disk.
Currently it's only shipped with our Enterprise Product because it converts Queries to Business Views and Views to Command Objects.
If you have Enterprise Available you should have a link off the Start Menu.
    Back up your reports first....
    Thank you

  • How to add crystal enterprise server in portal?

Hello, I am not familiar with SAP Portal, I am a little bit confused with the following direction from point 5. I don't know how to add the system in the landscape. I don't see the Edit list. The netweaver version is 2004.
To configure the BusinessObjects Enterprise server
    1. From the top-level navigation bar, choose System Administration; then
    choose System Configuration.
    2. From the Detailed Navigation iView, choose System Landscape.
    3. In the Portal Catalog, expand Portal Content.
    4. In the folder containing the systems, right-click a system and choose
    Open, and then choose Object.
    5. In the System Landscape Editor, from the Edit list, select Crystal
    Enterprise Server.
    6. In the BusinessObjects Enterprise Editor, enter the following parameters:
u2022 Host Name of Crystal Enterprise Server:
Here you need to enter the BusinessObjects Enterprise server as fully
qualified host name (including the port).
    For example: BusinessObjects001.business.net:1080
u2022 Path of BusinessObjects Enterprise Server:
Here you need to enter the path to the viewer application you want to
    use for this system.

    Hi,
the steps are under the assumption that you have a system already configured in the portal.
the values for the BusinessObjects server are just properties. If you don't have a system configured you would have to create a system first - otherwise you can set these properties for an exisitng system

  • How to convert back to v10.7 Lion

I am using 10.8.2 Moutian Lion
but i would like to convert back to v10.7
Reason for this is my sims 3 does not play well as all on the new update
I would like to have Moutain Liom on macintosh HD (350GB)
then 10.7 on Macintosh HD 2 (Mounted Patition) (Second Volume 150GB)
or if anyone knows a way i can play my sims without crashing help

Hold down the Command+Option+r key at startup, hold those key down until you see a Spinning Globe in the center of the screen (If you let them up before you see the globe the computer will either boot normally or to the built in Recovery HD partition). That will boot the computer from the Online Internet Recovery system where you can Re-Install Lion 10.7.5 on your other partition. When the computer boots from the Internet select Reinstall Mac OS X, and underneath that is should say "Reinstall Lion OS X on your Mac" or something similar. Click on that and click the Continue button. When it starts POINT i the install to the second partition on your drive (that is if you have already created it).
It is best to have the system WIRED, Ethernet cable, to your router as WiFi will work but any WiFi drop outs will cancel the download and install.
    Good Luck and Best Wishes.
    P.S.
I to have gone back to Lion but stilll have Mt Lion and Snow Leopard installed on separate partitions. IMHO Lion just runs better then Mt Lion. Mt Lion is just to iOSish for me.

    Hi All,
I want to convert current left navigation into tree view in SharePoint 2013. When we click on Modify Navigation and set headers and links; I need that should be convert into tree view. All headers should be expandable to thier links.
I just want tree view on navigation headers and links. not for all site and subsites which we can enabled from site settings --> Modify All Site settings --> Tree view
Please help me Master Page editing on Navigation Generation.. Thanks in advance!
    Regards,

    Hi Anna,
If you want to replace the Quick Launch part with the custom treeview web part in master page, you can comment out or remove the quick launch code block "<!--SPM:<SharePoint:SPNavigationManager id="QuickLaunchNavigationManager.....>....<>-->",
then insert the custom web part snippet code in proper location in seattle master page, then all pages inheriting the seattle master page will have this web part.
Note, please back up the master page before customizing the original master page for recovery.

  • How to configure Dynamic Data Connection for Business View

    Hi,
How can we configure Dynamic Data connection that we can save the profile of the connection to somewhere that we do not need to enter it everytime when we refresh the report?
    thanks and regards
    nora

    Hi James,
Thanks for the reply. Its solved now. For anybody if interested you can set the dynamic email address either i) having it as part of payload - In this case use the xpath to query the payload varaible ii) use identity service - follow the following steps
1.Create a user in Application enterprise manager/also you can use a existing account, if u are creating a new one assign the correct role
    2. In either case edit the user-properties.xml(bpel/system/services/config) file for the corresponding user and add an attribute called email
    3. Bounce the server for this changes to take effect
    4. In the notification properties in the to address use ids:getUserProperty and pass the attribute name

  • SSO to Crystal enterprise eportfolio with SAPLOGONTICKET

    Hi
We have setup Crystal Enterprise V10 to SAP Authentication and we are able to connect to Crystal eportfolio with SSO from EP6SP2 app integrator based iview without any problem, by giving R/3 userid, password via usermapping.
We have loaded verify.der from EP6SP2 in SAP R/3 and SAPLOGONTICKETS are working fine with other ESS iviews.
However for the Crystal eportfolio app integrator based iview if we change the logon method from UIDPW to SAPLOGONTICKET we are  getting the login screen from Crystal eportfolio prompting for userid/password.
We have loaded verify.der in SAP R/3 and SAPLOGONTICKETS are working fine with other ESS iviews.
These are our settings on the app integrator based iview in EP6SP2:
    URL template:
    <System.protocol>://<System.server><System.uri>?<Authentication>
    URL template fraction for SSO2:
    MYSAPSSO2=<Request.SSO2Ticket>
    URL template fraction for usermapping:
    usr=<MappedUser>&pwd=<MappedPassword>&aut=secSAPR3
Required instance profile parameters on R/3 were set correctly, and all servers are referred with their FQDN.
Did we miss anything else that is specific to Crystal eportfolio? Has anyone successfully connected to Crystal eportfolio V10 from EP6SP2 using SAPLOGONTICKETS ? Appreciate if someone can share their experience.
    Thanks
    Nagesh

    Hi Ingo
    Thanks for your response.
    1. URL that I am calling from inside the 'App Integrator' iview to access Crystal eportfolio is:
    Name of the server:
    <hostname>.<domain>.com
    Protocol of target system:
    HTTP
    URI of Web Application:
    /crystal/enterprise10/sap/ePortfolio/en/logon.csp
URL template fraction for Single Sign-on (SSO2):
    MYSAPSSO2=<Request.SSO2Ticket>
    2. URL of the Portal:
    http://<portal_hostname>.<domain>.com
In both the above URLs, the <DNS domain> is same.
    3. Log on to standalone eportfolio works perfect with 'SAP' Authentication.  SAP User can logon to eportfolio directly from the browser using SAP userid/password.
For the above iview when SYSTEM is changed to UIDPW logon method it works perfect, and Portal user can get into crystal eportfolio from the app integrator based iview without any problem.
Once the logon method ( SYSTEM property) for the above iview is changed to SAPLOGONMETHOD single sign-on is not working anymore and the user receives Crystal eportfolio login screen.
    Question is:
    a)  Can logon.csp file from Crystal handle SSO cookie coming from Portals and authenticate the user against SAP R/3, and let the user login successfully ??
    b) Is the URL template fraction for single sign-on (SSO2) given above is corrrect/complete?
    c) On support.businessobjects.com website I found that  this is a known problem for Crystal 8.5 with Track/Problem ID: ADAPT00094464 and fix was given via CE8.5 Service Pack-I.  Since we are running Crystal V10 I assume that this has been taken care of in the new release.  Is it not true? or is there seperate service pack for V10 too..?  Please let me know.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Passing Value from Crystal Report (special function) to Business View parameter

    Friends,
Í have a scenario where i need to pass value from Crystal Report to a Business view's parameter.
Eg : CurrentCEUsername (func in crystal report)-- gives login user  which i should pass to parameter in a Business view (used in the same report).
Will be able to explain more if required.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Bharath

I guess you got the picture wrong.  User_id is not a report_level parameter .
In Data Foundation, below query is used..
    select Acc_Number, Account_Group,User_id  from Accounts where user_id={?User_id}
where in {?User_id}  is the BV parameter...
The Filter was a solution. But it takes long time to Query all the data from DB and then filter at BV level.
    How do i pass the CurrentCEUsername to {?User_id}
Value should ve CurrentCEusername always. so that query will be
    select Acc_Number, Account_Group,User_id  from Accounts where user_id=CurrentCEusername
It will restrict the data pulled from DB to BV .. right?

  • Multi pass bursting of a Crystal report on business view with a bex query

In BO CMC, we have a group with a list of user.
The idea is to burst (via the multi pass bursting method) a Crystal report for this list of user with the constraint that this report should only contains data of the store linked to the user.
Our data comes from a SAP BI cube.
The link between a Store and a User comes from an other system.
We have build a bex query and use it as a data source of a Crystal Data Foundation.
In this Data Foundation we have an other table storing the user ID and the Store ID.
These 2 tables are linked in this Data Foundation on the Store ID.
Business element and Business View have also been created on top of this Data Foundation.
We have impletemented a filter in this Data Foundation to filter out data on the user id. This user id will be filled when bursting the report for all requested users thanks to this function :.
As a user is linked to one store, the data foundation will filter the data coming from the bex query and show only the data of the user's store.
We have build a crystal report using the business view created above as data source. We have made some test on a small amount of data and it works, data are correctly filter out and the reports shows only the data from one store.
But the problem is that we have a lot of stores (more than 600) and doing this way implies that the bex query will always return the data for all the stores as the filter will occurs in the data foundation and not on the bex query.
We need to find a way to make the bex query returning only the data of the store linked to the user for which we burst the report.
As we have more than 600 stores this was an idea to avoid managing more than 600 under BO groups or more than 600 different filters.
This solution do not work when the bex query result set is too large.
Does anyone has an idea on how to implement such "dynamic" filter in the bex query? The parameter is the user ID but the filter to be applied on the bex query is on the store ID.
We are under BO XI release 2, Crystal XI Release 2 and we have installed the BO release 2 integration kit for SAP
