How to convert CSPM 3.0 database to VMS 2.2

We were preparing to upgrade to CSPM 3.1 and later convert to VMS 2.2 but we just found out that the 3.1 software is no longer available. We manage about 20 Cisco IOS firewall router VPN with 3.0. How can we easily upgrade to VMS 2.2 without having to create VPNs from scratch.
Does VMS 2.2 have a similar Policy Manager as CSPM? We haven't downloaded an evaluation copy yet, since its for 90 days, and we are not quite ready.

I would like to get in personal contact with you regarding this NetPro question. There is nothing officially available today that will allow you to preserve the naming and grouping concepts. However we might be able to use some internally available tools to make this easier..
There are a few options in Firewall Management version 1.2 and even more to come in FWMC 1.3 that allow you to make your configuration more understable after doing a import from the device directly into the FWMC product. One of which is the feature called 'Object Group Discovery'. This allows you to dynamically find objects/services that could be taken together to reduce the size of the config. Also these newly created Object Groups could be named properly to better reflect there purpose. Also the 'nested' search options in FWMC will allow you to quickly identify and rename your rules/objects.

We need to migrate from CSPM to VMS FW MC (since CSPM will not be supported anymore soon);
As we have hundreds of networks and services objects names in CSPM and samething for the access rules, it would be nice if they can be converted in a format accessible by FW MC ;
as the minimum, does anybody at CISCO or elsewhere has a utility (even a basic one) that can allow to extract CSPM object names and place them in a text or CSV file ;
in CSPM, there is a function (in Report index, Policy Query) to list the rules in a text or CSV file, which can be rewritten to be imported in FW MC;
but, I don't find any function to do such thing with the CSPM objects names
If I import, into FW MC, the PIX config file ,as built by CSPM, I loose, of course, all the objects and rules names, so, I get the thousands of rules in FW MC config, which is rather unusable for the PIX guies
Of course, we could rewrite all the objects and all the rules manually into FW MC, but this is rather long and besides, this can generate many typo errors

How to convert single instance10g db to 11gR2 RAC with ASM

Hi,
I need your help to decide the plan about how to convert single instance 10g database to 11gr2 rac with asm.
I can have about 6 to 8 hours of downtime to upgrade and move to rac with asm.
db size is about 1.5tb and on AIX.
here is my plan....
1) install 11gr2 rac with asm on two nodes
2) verify rac installation and clustered asm
3)install 10g oracle binaries( yes 10g )
4) shutdown production db ( machine prod )
5) make copy of production and restore on 1st node ( using shadow image , so it's quick and its file system )
6) upgrade db to 11g ( still of file system )
7) after successful upgrade, move to asm ( rman backup )
8) add another node
does it look okay ? OR is there a better approach to save time?
can someone help me ?

So here is what I thought... suggest if something is not right...
1) install 11gr2 grid infra on node A and B with ASM
2) stop CLUSTER ON BOTH NODES.
3) shutdown prod db on 10g ( downtime starts )
4) take rman cold backup
5) restore rman backup on node A on ASM ( as if single instance 11g , no rac parameters )
6) mount and run upgrade script for 11g, then open db with 11
7) after successful upgrade, shutdown db node A
8) change all rac related parameters, spfile,undo,redo for rac environment on both nodes
9) open db in rac environment
can I do this way ?
My only question is, even though I installed rac on node A and B, in step 5 and 6 I'm using only node A as if it is single instance. Is it possible ?
if it is then I'm good to go...

asktom.oracle.com has an excellent article on writing a PL/SQL procedure that dumps data to an Excel spreadsheet-- search for 'Excel' and it'll come up.
You can also use your favorite connection protocol (ODBC, OLE DB, etc) to connect from Excel to Oracle and pull the data out that way.

How to Convert Date to Month in Database which is pointing to EBS, Not DWH.

We are planning to create reports in OBIEE and the Source is EBS. That means, we don’t want to depends on Datawarehouse and Informatica and OBIApps. We just create some reports and they are pointing to EBS database.
For testing purpose, we have taken one HR Report and it containsthe below columns:
Month (Dim)
Revenue Per Employee Headcount (Fact)
Average Cost per Active Workforce Headcount (Fact)
In my little investigation, we found that Revenue column is coming from EBS: GL_BALANCES. And we configured W_Day_D base table in DAC as there is no Month column in EBS (Not sure).
*** Coming to my problem, how can I call Month column in my database pointed to EBS. How to convert Date to Month in my database.
I could be wrong but anyone please look into this issue.. How can I create columns for that exact OBI report in EBS database instead of DwH.

You are right. Here, no need of using W_DAY_D table, but, we need all the stuff from the table and to explain my problem i have taken that table as an example. Now, we ran scripts for W_MONTH_D and W_DAY_D tables with EBS columns. So, we are getting data for the tables. In the same manner we have to create scripts for the below tables.
W_GL_ACCOUNT_D
W_GL_OTHER_F
W_STATUS_D
W_MCAL_DAY_D
W_EMPLOYMENT_STAT_CAT_D
W_WRKFC_BAL_A
W_DAY_D (Completed)
W_MONTH_D (Completed)
But, we are not aware of EBS Tables and their columns much. So, we are back tracing from RpD --> DAC --> Info --> EBS for each and every column and its taking much time.
So, if anyone of you facing the same issue, please share the EBS tables for the corresponding OBI tables, which are mentioned above.

Does anyone know how to convert logical standby database(10.2.0.3) to Physical Standby Database(10.2.0.3)? Is this possible? If so,please give me steps for it.

I don't believe this to be possible. One of the steps invloved in the creation of a logical standby is the following:
ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS;
This makes the logical standby a different incarnation of the db from the primary.
A physical standby is a binary copy of a primary db, a logical standby is a completely seperate db that just happens to get sql statements applied to it that are generated from a primary db, but is open read/write.
One avenue, though would be if you had flashback database enabled and you flashed back all the way to when the db was a physical standby and then rolled forward with the archived redo logs.
It's somewhat unlikely you are in that situation, but that is a possibility.

What u have to do simple 3 steps,
1-Just convert ur Foxpro dbfs to mdbs (Access Database) through "Microsft Access Tool Coverter to Oracle Database".
2-Then convert these mdbs (Access Database) to
Oracle datbase 8.0.5 through "Microsft Access Tool Coverter to Oracle Database".
3-Then Export ur users which is created automatically through the above tools during wizard and then import this user to Oracle 8i.

Beside this I wonder where you get your error from since AFAIK 12c comes with java 1.6.

OP isn't using Oracle 12c database.
They are using Oracle R12.1.3 - which is the E- Business Suite.

I am having a requirement. I have in database various kinds of files stored as binary format. Its a sybase database. Now the files can be .pdf, or .doc also. But they are stored in binary format.
I need to read the file from database.
Now I can use jdbc to read the particular column value which contains the file in binary format.
But tricky part is how to convert the binary file entry in a proper respective file format? So I have another column which basically has the value to tell the type of file. So I have ".doc" or ".pdf" as each entry of file...
So please help me how can we do this using Java?
