How to convert FLASH files to add them into iBooks?
Could Compressor 4 convert .FLA to MP4 or other format that iBooksAuthor accept?

Did you contact Adobe Support to get advice on a converstion or dealing with HTML5? If not you should they are pretty good at sorting out what we lesser mortals see as mind bending problems.
Adobe Media Encoder appears to have the option you require, although I have never used it myself to convert a Flash file.
I have used it to convert the Flv files into MP4 which also gives convert options suitable for use on iPads and other gizmo's
Another ( in desperation ) way is use "Snagit" if you have it or a similar screen grabber that offers "movie recordings" - Run your Flash file and run the screen grab.. in video mode and the output is mp4.
I just tried it on a Google ad and its seems to work OK.

if you have flash cs5 (though cs5.5 is much better), you can publish for the iphone.
apple relented on its anti-third party stance against iOS apps some months ago.

I have just asked a question about downloading MacKeeper elsewhere - why do you say not to download it? Does it not work or is it malicious?

How about some flash for the ipad

I have read many posts on flash and apples ios. All parties have valid points. I am a student and am very interested in the capability of using digital books. Unfortunately most of these are in flash. I have been very pleased with my ipad but I must say, without the choice of being able to use flash it is no more than just a toy. I believe if apple wants to be serious about their touch devises being implemented outside of games and something to be used to just pass the time they need to at least allow the customer to decide if they would like to sacrifice power on the device in order to expand the capabilities. It is a shame that these issues cannot be resolved to benefit the customer.

It's been rehashed sooooo many times:
The problem wasn't with Apple. Adobe could never get a version that worked well in iOS.
Adobe has since stated that they are stopping development of Flash for ALL mobile platforms.
So we won't be seeing Flash on any iOS device.

Trouble converting Flash for YouTube

I'm using CS5, and I've been trying to convert my Flash animation for YouTube. I successfully converted it to a .mov file...but then things got wonky. Pieces of art from one frame stay throughout the animation, rather than disappearing like they should, and the sound and animation become desychronized. I really have no clue why it's doing this, and Google doesn't seem to be much help...What should I do?

We also had a card with the raw files on it and added the other files that were brought in without the "parent" folder, but FCP won't recognize these. just to mention that:
DVD uses a plyback-format, end-of-the-road, delivery standard.. not meant for further processing.. you will recognize a (dramatic) loss in pic quality..

Just installed Swiftfox from AUR, how to install Flash for it??

I just installed Swiftfox for P4, it works great and love it, want to keep using it now but it doesn't have Flash. How can I install it or point it to the already working Flash that my FF2 uses?? (I don't know how to create symbolic links).

How to convert Flash output to a JPEG?

I want to allow a user to create a comic page layout in Flash which would allow them to upload JPEGs into the comic page layout then the Flash interface would allow them to move them around and add speach bubbles.
I would then like these to be uploaded to my web server and the whole thing converted to a JPEG. What would be involved to achieve this?

You would need a MovieClip with drop zones inside of it (other Movie Clips ideally).
I recommend publishing for player 10, since some classes that came out with it are much friendlier for the loading of files from the users computer. If you Google "AS3 local file load" or something similar you should be able to find a tutorial to get you through this step.
Then, once the user has loaded things, you would need a function (probably fired from a button click) that takes the snapshot of the page. This is done via the BitmapData class. Google it for detailed information.
And then, to save the file out to the server, you will likely need a server-side technology (but I haven't looked into server-side saving from player 10 yet, so I may be wrong). Look for "AS3 save image to server" or something similar.

The government where I'm working has distributed DVDs with teacher's guides and course materials to teachers and volunteers working on a new environmental education project. When I loaded the DVD into my Mac, the DVD title showed up under "Devices" in Finder windows, but it was grayed-out and couldn't be opened. (I had to go into Terminal and use "drutil eject" to get it out.)
Today I tested the DVD in a Windows laptop and it worked without any problems. The interface is composed of Flash EXEs. I can access all of the other files on the disk -- PDFs, PPTXs, &c. -- but they're all in one directory and not always well-named. I'd like to be able to use the interface to access the files when I present to my students.
Does anyone know of a program I can run to convert this DVD of Flash EXEs into something useable on my Mac? I do have access to a Windows laptop, and I was looking into DVD-to-ISO programs this morning, but I don't know if that would solve the problem of the interface being Flash EXEs. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thank you

Unless you have the .swf files, I don't think you'll be able to simply convert the .exe files. However, have you looked into running Windows on the Mac using a virtual machine? If this sounds reasonable, check out the following links:

What proofing paper I should use for proofing etc.

Hi Trevor, Yes The Wall Street Journal, New York Times and Washington Post all wants CMYK files. These days, their colors is getting much better than before. I used the ISOnewspaper30v4.icc profile and the image is ok, it's too flat and dull.
Is there any members here who work in the newspaper industry and process images on a regular base that can offer me some advice? Thanks.
