How to convert .mts file to Adobe Premiere?

I shoot my family party with my Sony HDR-XR500V with the output video format of .MTS . I tried to do some editing on Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. But it does not support mts file. I have made some searches ,and i found that the Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 can edit the file formats of mpeg2 and avi. So i am wondering how to convert mts file to mpeg2 and avi for me to edit on Adobe Premiere Pro CS4? what software and programme should i need.and where can i get it. Thanks.

As long as you have a AVCHD converter, you can use almost any editing software to edit and perfect your MTS/M2TS video files. What you should do is converting AVCHD video files into the video formats editable by editing software you are using.
As for this question, you can convert MTS from your HD camcorder to MPEG 2,MOV or AVI supportable by Adobe Premiere.
I recommend Brorsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac which is the fastest and best quality video converter i ever used.It can help you to convert MTS/M2TS recording to some playable and editable video formats, like MOV for editing on iMovie,FCP,FCE and Adobe Premiere you are using.
I ever used some video converter which produces video files with the issue of video and audio out of sync, but Brorsoft works fine in this point.

  • HT5409 Can you turn this function off? I am having issues linking offline media(MTS files) in Adobe Premiere CS6

New imac with 10.8.4.  With the new avchd coverter, I am not able to link offline MTS files in Adobe Premiere CS6.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Adobe hasn't updated it's products to look inside the avchd packages.
You'll have to do it for them.
Right-Click on the avchd package (or whatever it is called). Choose Show Package Contents.
Keep digging into the internal packages in a similar way until you get to the folder with the mts files.
When you tell Adobe to open a file, just drag the mts file into the Open File dialog. If it cannot maintain that link, you might have to move the files to some other location Adobe can process.

  • Projects settings for AVCHD MTS files in Adobe Premiere Elements 8

    Hello,
I have read several discussions already, about importing AVCHD MTS file in Adobe Elements (version 8), but I'm also confused a littlebit, so I would like to confirm if I'm correct.
FYI, I have a Canon Legria HFR26 camera and am using Adobe Premiere Elements 8 (with the latest updates installed).
According to the specs in the Canon instruction manual:
Videos are recorded in high definition using AVCHD specifications
    (MPEG-4/H.264 compression).
    Audio compression: Dolby Digital 2ch
The camera supports making video's in different format, but I have done it in the default SP format, which results in a resolution of 1440x1080 (50 fields per second, interlaced).
I have copied the video from the camera to my harddisk, and Windows also mentions the video's as AVCHD of 1440x1080 (Bitrate 7672kbps).
The frame rate is 25 frames/second. I assume this is correct for 50i?
So, when I import my video's into Adobe Elements 8, I select the following projects settings:
    PAL, AVCHD, HD 1080i 25
Because the description matches my video files:
    - For editing with 1440x1080i AVCHD camcorders.
    - 16:9 interlaced HD video at 25 frames per second.
    - 48kHz audio.
The video's are imported correctly and I can play them. However, as soon as I drop a video on the timeline, Adobe immediately starts background rendering the video (a red line appears on the timeline).
What I understand from some discussions, is that this shouldn't happen, because the video format doesn't match the project settings. On the other hand, I have also read that for Adobe Elements 8 this is normal behaviour and it always start background rendering AVCHD video's.
Is this expected behaviour or should I chance my projects settings or maybe even convert my video files to a different format?
    Thanks,
    Michiel

The ability to work natively with AVCHD files was not added until version 10, Michiel. So you'll still have to render while you work in version 8.

  • How to convert MTS files for capture in Final Cut Express 4

*PLEASE HELP!!!* While waiting to buy my iMac I saved my Canon Vixia HF200 AVCHD video clips on a PC with backups stored on an external HD. I transferred these to my iMac and they are in .MTS format. I can not open them in either iMovie or Final Cut Express 4. I gather I need to convert the files somehow. What is the best way to do this? _Thank you for your help!_

Here are your options now that you just have the files...

As Tom said, next time import directly from the volume rather than copying the .mts files.

  • How to convert MTS files

Hello, I have a Canon HD camcorder HG10.
    This Camcorder produces *.MTS files.
However, all supporting software is Windows based and not Mac based.
I have searched the web but didn't find any solution till so far (I'm just a user and not a programmer ...).
May be some people here have some experience and have found some solutions?
If so I would be grateful to hear from you.
    Best regards!

Here's a great solution using Roxio Toast 9 (it's available as a download purchase for immediate use). Drag your mts files into Roxio Toast and burn a DVD-Video of them (don't make a data file). Roxio will convert them to a video format. You can play this video on your television.
But, you want to be able to edit the files, which are now in a standard video format. Roxio Toast can then be used to extract the video and audio files out as editable audio. And, it's fast.
Previously I used Voltaic and one 4 gig MTS file took over 17 hours to process, and then it would only play the audio on the last 10 minutes (Voltaic won't process the video after a certain number of gigabytes). Using Roxio Toast I burnt a Video-DVD and then extract an edible version in less than an hour.

  • Converting Video File to Adobe Premiere Por CS4

Raw video files straight off of a DVD isn't compatible to Premiere Pro CS4. So what I usually do is, I encode it through Handbrake to maintain high quality. All of a sudden Im getting difficulty with Handbrake. When I import it through Premiere only a fraction of the video gets shown. I have two question in regards to that...
    1) What could I be doing wrong?
    2) And does Adobe Premiere have a encoder program specifically for Premiere so that I dont have to use a program that may not be compatible to it?

Sorry, but you are at the wrong forum. The Premiere forums are here:

  • How do I import .flv files to Adobe Premiere 12?

How do I import .flv files to Adobe Premiere 12?
    thanks,

    XTimeTravelers
If the details are as stated in your latest post, there are no inconsistencies here between us. Misunderstandings, probably.
Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11 are standalone programs. Each comes with the same (but its own) Elements Organizer 11 and each with its own Editor section. When a given version (Photoshop Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12 for example) is on the same computer, that version shares the same Elements Organizer catalog. All that being said....
All you are saying is that you can import a .flv file into the Elements Organizer 11 that came with Photoshop Elements 11.
    a. Photoshop Elements 11 is a photo editor and will not support video (flv or otherwise). We agree on that.
    b. Elements Organizer 11 that comes with Photoshop Elements 11 does support the import of .flv files there for organizational purposes. And, you should be able to playback the .flv file in the Elements Organizer 11 (you may need VLC player, not sure on that requirement...but it is possible). You can do the same for Elements Organizer 12.
All we are saying is the you cannot import a .flv file into the Premiere Elements Editor, be it for Premiere Elements Editor 11 or 12. And, you have not said that you have. All you are talking about is your experiences in the Elements Organizer 11 which should be the same for the Elements Organizer 12.
So, we are in agreement on everything.
    Summary:
You cannot import a .flv file into the Photoshop Elements Editor (any version) because it is a photo editor. You never claimed you did.
You cannot import a .flv file into the Premiere Elements Editor (any version) even though it is a video editor. This particular video editor (11 or 12) does not support .flv.
The Elements Organizer of these programs is another story where it is possible to import the .flv for organizational purposes and even playback.
Does that make it all come together for you?
Please review the above and then let me know if I am out of sync on what you wrote and how I have interpreted it.
    Thanks.

  • How do I edit rd3 files in Adobe Premiere Cs5 if I cannot afford to upgrade?

I'm trying to edit Rd3 files in Adobe Premiere pro cs5 I cannot afford to upgrade at this moment. What are the alternatives? Should I export from Redcine X? If so what are the settings that I should follow to edit in cs5? I would be editing at 1080.

It depends; you really need to list your hardware since CS5 speed for various formats is impacted by cpu, gpu, RAM, and drives.
If you final result will only be 1080, then you can certainly downsample up front to ease the work your PC has to do. OTOH, if you ever want to export with the full glory that Rd3 files are capable, editing the Rds files natively is probably the best workflow.
Have you tried changing the playback window resolution way down?

    Jim

My guess is that these are 'Named User' licenses and not Concurrent licenses. That just means that every license has a single user and that users is expected to register. Did they just give you one DVD with the program and then 30 license keys? If so there is probably no way you will get around the registration process.

  • Convert CDA files using  Adobe Soundbooth

In the help file for Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, under "Importing digital audio", it states:
"You can use CD audio (CDA) files in a project, but before you can import them into Adobe Premiere Pro, you need to convert them to a supported file format, such as WAV. You can convert CDA files using an audio application such as Adobe Soundbooth"
Ok, I have Adobe Soundbooth, but I can't find out any information for how to perform this import. It is a common need that most people have to be able to import music or audio from a CD. Can anyone provide the method of performing this action using Adobe Soundbooth?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't think you can convert an image to a Word document, but you could place the JPEG into a Word document using the Insert > Object command in Word.
For other questions relating to Word, you will probably have more luck getting an answer if you post on the Microsoft forums (we can help if you're using Acrobat, or another Adobe product, but you'll find the Word experts on the Microsoft forums.)

  • Converting AE project into Adobe Premiere Pro project.

I have found the way to convert AE project into Adobe Premiere Pro project.
I use the following line of code:
    app.executeCommand(app.findMenuCommandId("Adobe Premiere Pro Project ..."));
It works. But unfortunately it opens the SaveFileDialog window for the file name to be assigned.
I'd love not to see this window. I'd love to assign the file name programmatically. It would be great!
Is there any way to prevent the dialog window from opening?
    Thank you.

Depends if you are on the cloud or not or the new 12.0 version.  One way to do it is to import your AE footage into PP as pending on your puter....
