How to convert .mwv clips

how do I convert a .mwv clip to Flash extension?
Jim

I suggest >> Handycam >> Video Editor (Pinnacle Studio or similar, export into QT format) >> QuickTime Pro >> H.264 format export form QTPro
Since you are a Win7 user, I'd suggest you try some decent, yet cheap, program. Try Pinnacle Studio - not all versions support H264 compression, so look over the specifications for each version.
Apple has QTPro 7 for Win for $29 as a download.
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/extending/
It can read a ton of codecs and can export into a ton of codecs too. Obviously for iTunes, it would be best to use H.264 as the final format. It all depends on what format your handycam writes in and whether you'd be editing the video before exporting or not.
Handbrake is free and powerful, give it a shot before you buy anything else. I've had major stability issues with the latest version, so be cautious.

  • Converting HDV clip to Flash

    Hello,
I am wondering if there is any way how to convert HDV clip into Flash .flv file, keeping 16:9 ratio.
I only manage to convert it into whatever conversion is available in Compressor, like .mov, H.264, etc.
But how can I end up with Flash file?
Thank you so much for your advise.

Those are mutually exclusive operations, file size and image quality.
Adobe's own media encoder cannot compress the their own FLV any more efficiently using preset. if you get in and tweak every scene change you can expect some fabulous results at the expense of lots of time and effort. But the file won't be significantly smaller.
Again, suggest you hit Adobe.com and get everything they have to offer on encoding for Flash, there's tons of free information, not al of it is easy to find, hidden in support forums, tutorials, blogs. But it's there. And you can search here for "flv" we see the topic daily.
But consider that you shot 720 and are now smooshing it to less than VHS quality and wondering why it's not both lovely and small at the same time. It's a tough compromise, very difficult to achieve, especially if you are going to open the frame controls and start applying white restore, intelligent deinterlacing, gamma, and contrast adjustments.
Sorry not to be able to give you a magic formula.

  • TA25521 After editing a video clip that was shot in 60fps how do I convert that clip to 24fps for publishing

After editing a video clip in FCX that was shot in 60fps how do I convert that clip to 24fps for publishing?

There is only a limited amount of Compressor instruction available unless you purchase a subscription to something like Lynda.com or a tutorial from Ripple or Larry Jordan.
My advice to everyone who is interested in learning about Compressor is to read the first two chapters of the user manual – on basics and workflows. Those should provide enough of an understanding to cover the majority of things users need Compressor to accomplish. Of course there is plenty more for those who want to explore.
Here is a short write-up from Ken Stone on changing frame rates.

  • When I use Photoshop CS 6 to edit video, I don't know how to change video speed after I converted the clip to smart object?

When I use Photoshop CS 6 to edit video, I don't know how to change video speed after I converted the clip to smart object? The clip color turns purple and it only allows me to add motion but not change the clip duration and speed anymore.

Thanks for the reply and as a work around method I used the Photoshop to do all the adjustments then export the video to iMovie to finish the final cut. I also have a problem to paint or clone on a blank video layer created in Photoshop. It tells me the time is beyond the target frame time, I don't understand the message. Can you explain to me what did I do wrong? Thanks a lot!

  • How to convert a image layer to a text layer any idea? a image looks like a text in layers box

How to convert a image layer to a text layer any idea? a image looks like a text in layers box

You can't convert an image into a text layer.  What you can do is clip an image to a text layer so that just the image layer shows up where there is text.  Create a text layer, then above it put your image layer.  Hold down the alt/opt key and click between the two layers to clip them.

  • How do I get clips into "Available Media"

I am using Premiere Elements 3.0.  I've just had some old home movies transferred to DVD into two fairly large .AVI files.  I can import these two files into Premiere Elements, and then split clips that show up in the timeline and sceneline, but I can't get the "subdivided" clips back up into Available Media.  There, they stay as the two original source .AVI files.  Do I need to get them into "Available Media," or can I just reorder them in the timeline?  I don't want to get too far down the road and then figure out I can't create an edited DVD.  Thanks.

You don't say how you ripped the files from the DVD and how you got them converted to AVI files.
That said, version 3.0 is about 8 years old. The technology has changed dramatically over the years, and version 11 of the program is much better at working with a wider range of video formats, including DVD/VOB video. Version 3 could pretty much work successfully with miniDV footage and that's about it. You may well want to consider upgrading.
Version 3 will not sub-divide the clips from your DVD. You get your video as completed video files. The program has no facilities for breaking these larger files into individual scenes.
How well the program will be able to do anything with these files depends on how you converted them to AVIs and what codec these AVI files use. When you open one of these AVIs in a program like G Spot or MediaInfo, what codec, resolution and frame rate does it show?
    EDIT:
It appears that maybe you're trimming the video yourself and then trying to add the shorted clips back to your media panel. Is that right?
If so, this will not work if you cut the video on your timeline.
Instead, open your clip in the Clip Monitor/Preview Monitor by double-clicking on it in your media panel. Set in and out markers and then you can dragged this "trimmed" clip to the media panel from the Clip Monitor for later use.
Note that it will still technically be the same long clip. It will just be pre-trimmed to the in and out points you use to create each sub-clip.

  • How to convert mov to avi or wmv

    Hello,
I just caught a short 30 second clip of my son crawling for the first time with my Canon camera. I want to send the video to my Mom via email however the file is too big. Her computer does not play mp4, which is the only conversion option I found, and walking her through installing a compatible player is useless. So I would like to find out how to convert the mov file to avi or wmv, small enough to email. I just purchased Premiere Elements 10 and never used it. I could not figure out how to do it, so if anybody knows, that would be great.
    Thanks.

  • How to convert Mpeg 2 to usable format for imovie

I have been trying for months, and am completely frustrated. I have a 2x2.8 Ghz Quad Core Tower running 10.6.8.  I have all three imovies installed - Imovie HD, imovie 7.1 and imovie 9. All have the most recent updates. I had trouble importing several HD tapes, using my Canon Vixia HV30 - when I plugged it in, Imovie did not recognize it. After trying several suggestions on apple boards, I finally gave up, and I sent the tapes out to be recorded to an external drive. They came back - several in .mpeg format and 3 in .avi.
I can import the .avi format without difficulty, but not the Mpegs. They are greyed out in imovie. After researching, I purchased and downloaded the Quicktime Mpeg plug-in (for $30 CDN) and also Mpeg Streamclip. When I try to convert using Mpeg Streamclip, the program just freezes at 1% encoded. Perhaps I am not using the proper settings in Streamclip?
Does anyone have a suggestion for how I import these clips into imovies?
I am SO frustrated. All I want to do is edit 2 years worth (about 10 hours?) of home movies in imovie - a presumably simple thing. Does anyone have any suggestions?

You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle.
a DVD is in a compresed format called mpeg2, which is standard across all DVDs. This is what is known as a 'final delivery format' and is not suitable for editing. Because is is compressed, a 4.7GB DVD can hold a two hour movie (dual layer DVDs twice that), whereas the DV stream from a video camera, which runs at about 13GB per hour, is not compressed and IS intended for editing.
In other words you have to 'reverse engineer' the DVD back to an uncompressed format in ordfer to edit it. There is a penalty for doing this in terms of slight quality loss, but it is one you can live with.
When you have your DVD as an icon on your desktop, double-click it, and it will open to reveal a TS-Folder containing a number of various files, some called VOB. These are the constituent parts of any video DVD.
When you have downloaded and installed mpegStreamclip, and purchased and installed the Apple mpeg2 plugin, open mpegStreamclip and drag the entire TS Folder into its window. Then using the various menus available to you (just explore them and you will get the hang of it) ask it to convert to DV.
That DV file, which will be many times larger than the original TS Folder, and which can a while to create (be patient - make coffee or prune the roses!) is what you can now import into iMovie for editing etc.
When you have finished doing that, you then have to turn the project back into a DVD.
mpegStreamclip can be downloaded from here:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/mpegstreamclip.html
which is free, but you must also have the  Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
    which is a mere $20.
Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
For the benefit of others who may read this thread:
Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.

  • I am making a reel. How do I take clips from past DVDs Ive made and place them into Final Cut 4.0?

    Anyone answering,
I am making a reel to show businesses what kind of work I can do. I am trying to take clips from past projects I have finished and place those clips in FCXpress 4.0. How do I go about doing this? Any advice on how I can do this will be a tremendous help for me.
    Thank you for your time!!

    Hi Jeremy,
You will have to convert the DVD video to QuickTime using either Apple DV or Apple Intermediate Codec.
Most people in this forum seem to use MPEG Streamclip to do this.  I have used it a lot it and it works great.
Note that in addition to MPEG Streamclip (which is free), you will need the QuickTime MPEG2 Playback Component if you do not already have it on your Mac.  It is available from the Apple Online Store for $19.  This needs to be on your Mac in order for MPEG Streamclip to be able to convert the MPEG2 video that is on your DVDs.
If it were me, and the video is standard 4:3 aspect ratio, I would probably convert it to QuickTime/DV; if widescreen 16:9  then I would probably convert it to QuickTime/Apple Intermediate Codec instead.
After converting the video, select  an appropriate FCE Easy Setup to match how you converted the video in MPEG Streamclip.  Then import the converted file(s) and edit them into a new sequence.
