How to Convert OST to PST & Restore Microsoft Exchange Orphaned Offline database

This past weekend we lost power for a long duration at our main facility. When power was restored everything started up normally, but on Monday we started to have networking issues. I did some fast troubleshooting, then realized perhaps I should get the original architects of our network involved. They are apparently no longer in business... (great!) So I asked the former IT manager who still works for the company if he had the build data or anything. He did not, and also apparently is clueless about the setups. I noticed the core had unusually high CPU usage. 99% over long durations. My initial trouble shooting started by switching off blades at a time to see if the usage went down... the last blade was the culprit. Unfortunately, it's the blade that connects the other buildings on this site to the network. Slowly enabling 1 interface...

Savvy CEOs and executives know that interview questions like, "What's your biggest strength?" and, "What's your biggest weakness?" aren't as telling as they seem. Many top execs have their one favorite go-to question that reveals everything they need to know about a job candidate. Here are 23 of them. How would you describe yourself in one word? The best candidates are the ones who know exactly who they are. That's why Dara Richardson-Heron, CEO of women's organization YWCA, always asks her candidates this question.Richardson-Heron has said she doesn't judge people on the word they choose, but it does give her insight into how people package themselves. She tells Adam Bryant at The New York Times that she likes when people take time to ponder the question and answer thoughtfully...Read More

  • How do I convert ost to pst in my new laptop

I have ost file from my old laptop, but I can't open it. Try many software - nothing. I was advised download convert programs. How do I convert ost to pst in my new laptop?

There are several methods to convert OST file to PST file.
First, Microsoft does not provide an official tool to do the conversion. However, if you can access the contents of the OST file in your Outlook, then you can perform the conversion manually, as follows:
    1. Start Outlook. Make sure you can access all the contents in the OST file to be converted.
    2. Create a new PST file.
    3. Go to the OST file, select and copy all the contents to be converted with your mouse.
    4. Go back to the new PST file, then paste all the contents into the PST file
    That will do the conversion.
You can also perform the conversion by export the contents of the OST file to a PST file by following the instructions at:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/outlook-help/export-outlook-items-to-an-outlook-data-file-pst-HA102534110.aspx
Second, if you can access the Exchange server containing the account data for the OST file, then you can use Export-Mailbox command to export the data into a PST file, similar to convert your OST file into a PST file. Below is the article about doing that:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb266964.aspx
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc535123.aspx
Third, if you cannot access the OST file via Outlook, neither can you access the Exchange Server, then you can refer to Outlook MVPs' website discussing about this issue:
    http://www.slipstick.com/problems/pst-repair/convert-an-exchange-offline-file-ost-to-a-personal-file-pst/
Forth, there are many third-party OST to PST conversion tools you can try, below is a list of them:
    http://www.datanumen.com/exchange-recovery/compare.htm
Nearly all these tools provide a free trial so you can try first to see if a tool works before purchase it.
    Good luck!

  • How effective does iPhone 4 sync with Microsoft Exchange

    Hello,
Sorry for a possible repost but I did try to search for this topic but didn't find anything.
I'm really into the new iPhone 4 to use as a business phone. I have a Dell PC with Windows XP. The most important thing for me regarding iPhone is that the sync with Microsoft Exchange is flawless.
Can somebody (who has an iPhone and Microsoft Exchange) tell me how effective the sync is with iPhone and Microsoft Exchange? Does the e-mail sync quickly and how does the sync work with contacts and calendar. If I put a new calendar item in Outlook does it appear on my iPhone without me asking it to sync and etc.?
    Please do share your experience

Can I put the sync settings on the iPhone 4 to only sync between certain time interval? Say, monday to friday from 08am to 7pm?
If you want push sync, then, no, you can't set a time interval. The entire point of push support is that the server notifies your system whenever something new arrives or something is changed. If you want to control when your iPhone contacts the server, then you can't use push. You can have the system fetch data at a set interval, or you can set to do it manually, if you prefer, but there's no setting where you can set a time window.
And can I put the sync settings only to store a certain amount of e-mails? Say the 100 newest?
You can set how may days of mail to sync, and also how many emails to show.
You might find the the user's guide helpful in learning about features and settings:

  • How to setup live.hk mail using Microsoft Exchange on Mac?

In the past, I sync my live.hk mail account with pop3. But there is a problem that I delete some email on my Mac but it still there in live.hk mailbox.
I found that we can use Microsoft Exchange mail through iPhone and iPad. Can I use Exchange with live.hk on my MacBook so that the mail won't duplicate on both my Mac and live.hk server ?
Thank you for any comments and assistance.

  • Booking an appointment prompt Microsoft Exchange is offline

    HI,
I am faced with this weird problem. My user is able to connect to her mailbox using outlook anywhere. Sending/receving mails are ok. But when she tries to book an appointment in the her own calendar, It said the Outlook must online even though I am connected
    to Exchange server.
I am using Outlook 2007 and Exchange 2007.
    Can anyone advice?
    Thanks a mill

    Hi,
Does the issue happen to all users or only one specific user? Please book an appointment in Outlook Web Access to check whether it can be created successfully. If the issue doesn't happen in OWA, it indicates that the issue should be related to Outlook client
or the connection between Outlook and server.
Please create a new Outlook profile to check whether the issue is caused by corrupted profile:

    Regards,
    Winnie Liang
    TechNet Community Support
Thank you, Winnie for the suggestion. Booking through OWA is ok. We tried to recreate the Outlook profile and it gets worse. When we clicked 'Check Name', it prompt ' the action is incomplete. Microsoft Exchange has to be online ...." We do not have
this problem before. We reinstalled the self-signed certificate again and still the problem still exists. This self-signed certificate was used before and it was ok. Checking the Outlook Anywhere settings and compare with another working notebook showed no
    sign of differences.
I read somewhere to restart Exchange System attendant. I am fearful of this as we are running Exchange 2007 CCR and we are unsure how to go about doing it and the impact it has to the rest of the organisation.
Thanks again for the reply. Please keep sending in suggestions.

  • How to convert Images in PDF to Microsoft Word text Properly

I have images in PDF and when I try to convert it to Microsoft word, the "check marks (wingdings)" turn into the letter "D" and the rest have a lot of misspelled words.

PDF page content export reflects the "under-the-hood" quality of how the PDF was made.
This of course is driven, in part, by what the authoring application was, how content was mastered and what process was used to actually paint content to the PDF page.
    http://talkingpdf.org/each-pdf-page-is-a-painting/
    So --- GIGO is operative.
    Goodstuff In = Goodstuff Out
    OR
    Garbage In = Garbage Out.
The export results tell one which of the above is in play.
As well, 'good' export of PDF actually has a prerequisite.
That is one needs a well-formed Tagged PDF.
Tagged PDF has two main design criteria -
    Support Accessible PDF.
Support export of PDF page content
    (See ISO 32000)
Having an ISO 14289 (PDF/UA) compliant PDF provides the "well-formed Tagged PDF".
Aside from ISO 3200 and ISO 14289 additional useful information is available at AIIM's web site.

  • [Forum FAQ] How to convert data of date time's type stored in database to display Time Zone based on different territories?

    Introduction:
There is a date’s type field in the database. When using the field in the report, clients want to convert the field’s values based on own Time Zone to show the date field.
    Workaround:
Currently, Reporting Services doesn’t provide the function that can get the Time Zone of a client machine. To work around the issue, you need to add a custom code in the report to convert Time Zone and create a parameter through which the client users can
select his/her Time Zone, and then pass the parameter value to the custom function. Please see the details as follows:
    1. Click the Report, select Report Properties and add the custom code as the screenshot shown:
    Custom code:
Shared Function FromUTC (ByVal d As Date, ByVal tz As String) As Date
    Return (TimeZoneInfo.ConvertTimeBySystemTimeZoneId(d, TimeZoneInfo.Utc.Id, tz))
    End Function
    2. Create a parameter named TimeZone (you can name the parameter according to your requirement), select Available value and click Specify values.
    Label
    Value
    China Standard Time
    China Standard Time
Central European Time Zone                              Central European Time Zone
    India Time Zone
    India Time Zone
United States of America Time zones                   United States of America Time zones
    3. Call the custom code and type the expression to convert the Time Zone as follows:
    =Code.FromUTC(Fields!UTCDateFromDatabase.Value,Parameters!TimeZone.Value)
Note: If you use the expression “=Code.FromUTC(Fields!UTCDateFromDatabase.Value,TimeZone.CurrentTimeZone.StandardName)”, it cannot achieve the goal because TimeZone.CurrentTimeZone.StandardName gets the TimeZone of Report Server side rather than Client side.

How do I connect to my desk top that is running windows XP through a server running windows exchange server 2003 using a ipad2?

Some servers want the AD domain included in the setup and some don't. Try both with and without the domain and see if one of those allows it to verify.
BTW, it helps keep the thread clearer and better organized if you click the Reply in the post to which you're actually replying rather than replying to your own original post.
