Well you can't do it but you can run an xsl-fo stylesheet and create RTF output.
Then you need to mark up the RTF with XSL code form the XSL-FO.
Not automated, but I think it saves a lot of work.

MS-Word formats (DOC) are notorious for not being standardized from one version to another, so what ever you get will be version specific. If you must do the conversion, I suggest you do a MS-Script in Word to do it or one of the .Net languages. As stated the Word format from version to version is not standardized.

XSL-FO TO RTF Conversion

I have a problem with Purchase Order printing. It is in Oracle Application 11.5.10.2. One seeded XSL-Fo template is already attched with the Standard Purchase Order. I want to Customize this template and want to add it with Standard PO. I dont have idea of XSL-FO. I want to convert this XSL-FO template in to RTF template. So i can make the desired changes and attach it with Standard PO. By Word Template Builder We can do the RTF to XSL-FO conversion. But, What about the reverse? Can we Do this?

Hi Ravi,
There is no way that i am aware of the convert XSL-FO to RTF.
1) If you are looking for changes in the format of the PO document then you and modify the XSL-FO Template itself.
2) If you are looking for including new columns that are not already there then it is a very tough process. See if you can populate these values in the Attribute columns of the PO - Header/Line. These fields are already present in the Data defenition file and can be used in the XSL-FO Template to get the output. This is the best method
Worst comes to worst you will have to change a view to include that column and the data defenition of this template. I have personally not tested this but i believe it is possible.
3) If you really want to create an RTF template then you can create it from scratch and assign this template to the document type. This you can do by switching to a responsibility that has the PO Setup menu and in that follow the navigation
Setup -> Purchasing -> Document Types. Here select the standard PO and change the template to the new one you have created.

How to convert XML data into binary data (opaque data)

Hi,
I am trying to develop a process that delivers files after reading data from a database.
However, it is required not to deliver the data immediately. We want to perform some checks before the files get written.
So the way we want to design this is,
1. Read data from database (or any other input). The data is in XML format (this is a requirement, as in general, we have xml data)
2. This data is written, opaquely, to a JMS queue that can store binary data, along with what is the filename of the file that would be written (filename is passed using JMS Headers)
3. When required, another process reads the JMS queue's binary data, and dumps into a file
The reason I want to use opaque data while inserting in the JMS queue is, that enables me to develop a single process in Step 3 that can write any file, irrespective of the format.
My questions are
1. How to convert the xml data to opaque data. In BPEL I may use a embedded java, but how about ESB. Any other way....?
2. how to pass filename to the jms queue, when payload is opaque. Can I use a header attribute...custom attributes?
3. Which jms message type is better for this kind of requirement - SYS.AQ$_JMS_BYTES_MESSAGE or SYS.AQ$_JMS_STREAM_MESSAGE

Write a simple XSLT mapping or java mapping to change the value of the attribute "encoding" to "ISO-8859-1" in the output XML of message mapping . Include this XSLT or Java map as the second mapping step in your interface mapping.

I have been sent a large Works document. No longer having Works, I am trying to figure out how to convert it into .rtf of some other form that is readable.

Since you've posted in the AppleWorks forum, by "Works" I assume you mean AppleWorks. There are a few options to get to the contents of that file.
The easiest & most reliable option other than using AppleWorks or Pages 4 or earlier would be to open the file with LibreOffice. It's a free, open source, Office clone that does a very good job of opening AppleWorks & ClarisWorks files. You can then save them as RTF or Word.
Second would be to open the file with TextEdit that comes with OS X. You will get a lot of "garbage" formatting text before & after the actual text. That formatting can be many pages long.
Third would be to look at the options available from Panergy Software. They do have demo software to try.

You should find another extranal system id in order to mantain uniqueness, but you could also use the name field (that supports 50 characters), but it deppends of which entity you are using.
Which is the entity? and...if the only way to insert data is by web services the you could use more than one field to verify uniqueness since you can query more than one field at the time.

Does anyone know how to convert a Web app into a channel inside the Portal server 6.0?
I developed the web app and tried to create a provider and a channel for it, but the Portal server did not recognize the WEB-INF folder and give me errors saying that it couldn't locate the class files.
I also have a problem with URL inside my jsp page (channel).
For example, I have two jsp pages:
/etc/opt/SUNWps/desktop/default/MyCustomProvider/test1.jsp
/etc/opt/SUNWps/desktop/default/MyCustomProvider/test2.jsp
and when I try to put a link from test1.jsp to test2.jsp using
... and make a channel based on test1.jsp. The channel will display the link as "http://mydomain/portal/test2.jsp" and result in "Error: page not found". I want the link to point to
/etc/opt/SUNWps/desktop/default/MyCustomProvider/test2.jsp
To summarize my questions,
1) Where should the web app be located in the Portal server?
2) How to make a link inside one jsp page (channel) to point to another page inside the same folder?
