How to convince Apple Support of faulty iPod?

I have some Problems with the battery life of my touch.
1. sometimes my touch won't charge the battery, even if it shows the battery charging symbol on the ipod. have to unplug an replug it several times, problem is since it is always stating that the battery is being charged i have to check an hour later or so if it really charged my ipod.
2. the battery indicator does weird stuff. today for example the indicator showed like 80% charged… i plugged the ipod in, unplugged it 5 mins later and the battery went down to like 20%.
3. sometimes battery is drained from 100% to 10% in half an hour, other times it lasts as long as it should…
these are problems i can't reproduce - they just happen! so i sent the ipod to apple to have a look at it. they sent it back without having done anything, but a reset. said they couldn't find a problem. i know they have software to check the hardware and stuff, but i'm not making this up in my mind.

Echoing Mrtotes, another great way to document is video the event. Most cell phones will allow small video recording, a camcorder or some small digital cameras allow for recording, my Olympus does this, had to use it to film a window leak on new construction and everyone thought I was nuts until I showed the video, then utter silence from the window manufacturer, the contractor, etc. When you charge the iPod, film what you're doing, show the battery level prior to charging and after. You may have already thought of this, but is it possible your cable for the iPod to charge or the USB connected is bad, thus robbing you of charging, that happened with several of the cigarette lighter chargers.
Hope you get it resolved.

Warranty and support is only valid in the country of origin, or in the case of a device purchased in an EU country, only in an EU country.
Unless you will be visiting an Apple store in one of the EU countries before the warranty expires, you are pretty much out of luck.

    No app is required.
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

  • Does anyone know how to contact apple support

I sent in a service request about 3 weeks ago, but I still have not recieved any package to return my faulty ipod and Im having trouble finding a suport address or telephone number so i can tell them that I have not recieved anything yet, the support site just keeps sending me around in circels and i end up on the same page i started on, I just want to contact ipod support surely they would have an email address or something ?
Any info would be much apretiated

The first time I ever used anything to do with apple, was when I used quicktime, I quickly un-installed it, it was terible, so was itunes, (WHATS WITH THE DUPLICATE TRACKS ?), a long time later I decided to buy an ipod, ha what a mistake that was, it was a piece of junk, that broke down after 3 months, very badly designed, and as for tech support, well it's basicly non existent, I recently used a mac for the first time (my freind got one) ha ha ha ha, how you can call it a computer is beyond me, I nearly cried laughing when I saw how slow it was, this was a £1200 machine and it was slower than a 486, not to mention the incompatapility isues.
So please if your the kind of person who wants to spend more money for less perfomance or you only buy somthing because it's trendy and you like software thats programed by trained chimp's or maybe you like chasing up customer service rep's trying to get your faulty goods repaired then buy yourself an apple product, you wont be dissapointed.

  • Apple support misdiagnosed my iPod and I'll have to send it back AGAIN!

My original Classic needed to be replaced. The replacement iPod given to me has a bad headphones jack. It shorts out badly simply from the weight of the cord. I tried several different headphones, and they all behaved the same.
When I called to get another replacement, the woman on the phone took the problem down as “no sound”. Not that it was shorting out. So I’m sure when the tech diagnosed the ipod, and heard sound, assumed it was fine.
My problem is that they’re returning the ipod and not doing anything. I emailed support immediately after receiving the email notification of their return. (Don't have time to wait on hold until tonight.) Support simply resent the last repair notification.
It’s a real shame apple support has failed so completely. The phone support didn’t take the appropriate info. The tech who diagnosed the ipod (albeit working under a misunderstanding) must’ve assumed the worse, and that some random idiot just couldn’t work their iPod.
Why wouldn’t it be standard practice to call the customer if no problems are found? People don’t send stuff in to be fixed without having a major issue with it. This is a pretty big hole in the apple support process, and a huge waste in resources on so many levels. All of this could be avoided with a simple phone call in the case that the techs can’t find the problem.
So now, I’ll be forced to start this entire process over again (the fourth time now) once my iPod arrives in the mail. My iPod will have spent more time in the mail, and with apple, than I have.
What should I do to make sure this problem is addressed properly this time? Taking it in to an apple store is a pain as it’s over an hour away.
    Thanks.

How many hours have you spent on the phone with Apple support? How much longer do you want to go without your iPod?
It may be worth it to bite the bullet and make an appointment at the Genius Bar to get your iPod diagnosed properly. I would suggest the following:
    1. Bring in your documentation showing how many times you have sent it without resolution
    2. Bring more than one set of headphones to demonstrate the problem
    3. Don't leave the store until you have a resolution
If all else fails, you can investigate the potential of enacting the lemon law. I don't know where you live or how old the iPod is, but some jurisdictions have laws that state a company has a fixed number of chances to fix a problem or replace the defective device if that device is within the limited liability time frame specified by the law.

  • How to Prevent Apple Support Communities from Sending Me Emails?

    Hi,
How I can I prevent the Apple Support Communities website / tool from sending me emails?
I have disabled all emails in my profile settings (since about six months):
Still,  Apple Support Communities keep sending me emails in increasing frequency:
(It is the same account / username / email, I have triple checked that.)
What options other than marking Apple as as spammer do I have left?
    Cheers

    Hi,
Thank you – that (hopefully) resolves the issue!
Note, that I came to Edit Preferences not through my Profile, but through the link in the "update emails" itself.
The link in the emails (see screeshot) reads: You are receiving this email from Apple Support Communities. You can change your email preferences in your Apple Support Communities Profile.
And the link leads to the "Edit Preferences" page (the "Manage Email Notifications" page is not visible / linked from "Edit Preferences")
According to common "unsubscribe" practices in emails, I would expect that an "unsubscribe"-type of link leads me to a page where I can unsubscribe from the type of email I just received (and not unsusbcribe from 'additional potential future' emails or whatever you would call it in that case).
Hence, this "unsubscribe" link in the email should either go to the Profile page, or the Manage Email Notifications (where I can actualy unsusbcribe), NOT to Edit Preferences.
Hope, someone from Apple reads the above...
( Personally, I think the idea to split between past and future threads is a bad design in the first place )

Just stop using it and remove any data from your profile that you don't want there. You can't actually remove your account or your old posts from the server.
If you have registered to have notification emails sent to you, click 'My Stuff' at top right, select 'Preferences' , then in the next page select the 'Email Notification Preferences' tab and click all the 'No' radio buttons. Then click 'Save'.
If you already have notifications set on some threads you will still get emails from them. Click on your username at the top, then under 'Actions' in the right sidebar, select "'Manage email notifications.' This will show the threads you've set up notifications on in the past. Select those you want to stop and click the 'Remove Selected Notifications' button at bottom.
Best regards and hope this helps.  If I don't have the answer someone else does

  • Anyone know how to get Apple support?

So, I need to find out why my Iphone won't wirelessly sync anymore.  I go to https://www.apple.com/support/iphone/contact/ and enter my serial number and hit CONTINUE... and the little whirling thing whirls and whirls and whirls... I've refreshed the page, tried a different browser, and even rebooted my computer, all to no avail.
I'm about to post this question, and my current attempt has had the spinning thing going for a full five minutes.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks...

Well, while that's great for those "lots of people", it doesn't help me at all since I don't know any of them.  I also can't use a workphone; aside from the fact that they're all "for official use only", I spend my shift in a patrol car so I don't even really have access to any of the phones at the station.  Even if I were willing to use my access code to get an outside line from the City's phone system... and with my luck, they'd audit the call and want to know how calling Apple support was "official"...
I also didn't see any chat options... of course, back to my actual question, the little swirling thing was still swirling when I just now woke up, after, what, seven hours?  There could very well be a chat function, but if I can't get to it, it's useless to me.
Eventually I suppose I'll have to arrange for one of my buddies to come overhere and let me borrow his phone for the hour or whatever it'll take.  That's just so much more convenient than having an email support option!

  • How to use Apple Support Chat on iphone 5s

So I have an iPhone 5s. I went under apple support to try and get help with getting iMessage to work (it's activated but not working) and I chose the Live Chat option. They were able to initiate contact with me and send me a message, but I was unable to respond. I could type out my message, but there wasn't an option to actually send the message! I tried everything on the screen, but the person trying to help me wasn't receiving any of my messages. Does anyone know how to send your messages for chatting with a member of the Apple Support team?

You can't.  It's limited to exactly 100 calls.

  • How to contact Apple support if I don't have a support plan acquired?

    Hi all,
As i posted on my previous thread : https://discussions.apple.com/message/16754173#16754173
I am having trouble restoring from back up after upgrading to IOS5 and would appreciate any help given.
I am using an IPAD that was synched to a lost computer and now I attempted upgrading to IOS5 by using a second computer which already had one IPAD back up on it (the back up refers to my previous IPAD).
After doing a back-up on the second computer, and upgrading to IOS5, I am not being able to restore the new back up. It only loads the back up from my previous IPAD.
I am desperate for a solution and would like to know hot to contact Apple support since iTunes had promped me to back-up the files, and I did, prior to updating to the new IOS.
    Thanking you in advance,
    Arementeria

I was going to suggest to you last night to delete the one backup that iTunes keeps recognizing and see if it will then recognize the correct backup, but I would hate to see you do that and lose both backups. Use the link above to contact Apple.
