How to copy a backup image to a new HDD in my Satellite C660 ?

Hello,I followed the iusual nstructions shown online, but remain stymied, and help would be a Godsend.
I have a new Hard Drive in the C660, the old one (which will not boot but is accessible to view folders) is attached to a usb port via an enclosure, and a Win7 repair disc in the CD drive, to which the lappie is booted. But the System Repair Options window does not display the Win7 OS which has been saved in the old HD as 'WindowsImageBackup'. How can I get this OS to appear in the window? Neither of the buttons '...Select OS to repair' or 'Restore using image created
earlier' bring up anything in the window.Instructions say 'If your OS isn't listed, click 'load drivers' and then install drivers for your HDs.' But when click 'load drivers', it asks me to "insert the installation media for the device and click OK to select the driver." Clicking 'OK' calls up a window called "open" and a folder called 'System32' (and a list of the many files it contains). Ascending the tree of which it is a branch, I arrive at a level "Computer" and a list of four HDDs: System (E, Local Drive (F, Data (G, and Boot (x. There are also two devices with 'Removable Storage': Removable disc (C and CD Drive (D Repair Disc. Clicking on Removable Disc (C gets the response 'Insert a disc into RD (CIt seems to me that this disc, RD (C, is the old Hard Drive in an enclosure attached via a usb port. It contains the 4 folders just mentioned, and Data (G contains the WindowsImageBackup. At this point I am baffled; how can I re-image my new Hard Drive, which is in the laptop and has been validated (Seatool) and formatted (Paragon)?
All attempts have simply run into the error 'System Restore failed. Sys can't find the file specified (0x80070002). Any suggestion will be most gratefully received. Ron

Hello, My old hard drive will not boot, but I can see and copy the folders in it, including windowsimagebackup.I do this using a Win7 rescue disk. I have tried every merhod of booting the old hard dive, without success. I think there is a corrupt sector, from some of the error messages. So, I want to transfer or copy this image , windowsimagebackup, to the new hard drive. The old hard drive is now in an enclosure, plugged into the laptop; the new (empty) hard drive is in the laptop.I have booted it using the rescue disc. I can view all the contents of the old hard drive. When I follow the instructions to make this copy, it does not work. What am I doing wrong? (see original post for details) Ron

Archive/trash Pages 5 and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

how about copying the backup to a server instead of a hard drive? Doesn't seem to work.

ISP's cap your upload speed to a fraction of your download so you don't run a server off your computer.
You can certainly spend more money to upload faster, but it's a waste of money and the data online can vanish or be held or spied upon.
Then there is a prolem that you want to restore your system and there is slow Internet.
Apple now requires fresh OS X installs to come from them online, it's better to have local drive to boot from anytime, so a bootable clone is ideal, better than TimeMachine which is only a backup system

I want to copy/paste text/image contents from webpages with iBooks Author, somehow images can't be copied, only texts can be copied with copy/paste editing. Wonder if there are any ways to include images with simple copy/paste?

Perhaps the people who spent a lot of time and money to produce the websites.....and who own copyright ...don't want anybody using their work without payment or credits. Have you contacted the websites owners to ask permission?
IF any person(s) use anything from websites without permission apart from being to lazy to email to request permission....could face a legal action if and when the sites owners fins out.
There is another her misconception that "free" websites and content on "social media" such as the dreaded FaceBook....can be used without consequence. Almost all "free" websites are common licence material - which requires permission and those who give permission do so only for personal or none profit reproduction.
i Use a blocking script on my websites which apart from preventing a right click...those who try are whisked off my website to the the UK copyright website page which explains my rights!
You may wish to check out your iBooks contract with Apple and read their warnings on use of others copyright material.
You could ..and should contact the websites...explain what you want to use and why....and ask them if they can supply media.

When I use Export Project to New Library in Aperture does it create a copy of the images in the new Library?

I am going through my only library now and trying to better organize everything. I am grouping my images into projects by year then cleaning up each year. As I finish a year I use the Export to New Library option to create a library for each year. My question is when I do this and I tell it to Consolidate Masters into exported library does it create copies of the images in the new library as well as leaving a copy in the original library? My goal once I get this completed is to delete the original library but I certainly don't want to lose any of my images. Just looking at file sizes for the libraries I can see that the main library never gets smaller and the new libraries don't really seem large enough to contain everything.

To be honest a 6 year old machine with 4gb of memory and 300gb of disk running Lion and Aperture is not going to give you the greatest performance no matter how you split the library.
You're going to need more disk, What's your backup procedure now? The best performance will be had by getting an external disk putting the masters on it as referenced and having the library on the internal drive.
More memory would be nice but a 6 year old iMac, I think, is maxed out at 4. You'll need to keep other programs running to a minimum when you're working with Aperture.
How much free space is on the internal drive? That will be an issue also. If even with the masters relocated to an external drive cause the internal drive to fill up you'll need to move the library off the internal. If you do that you'll want to go with a FW drive. As long as only the masters are on the external you can get by with a USB but once the library goes out there you're really want to look at FW.

I am adding a new SSD to my laptop (ran out of room) and want to move ALL my images (25,000) from my current Drive C to the new Drive D on my Alienware laptop. How do I do "adjust" LR4 so that it sees the images on the D Drive versus the C Drive? I can't find an answer and I do NOT want to make a mistake here to say the least

How to Copy Service request Notes to the new Service request

Dear Experts
I have to write code for copying the service request's notes filed value to the new service request when User clicks on copy button.
Fields in the Heard are getting copied when user copies to a new service request. But notes filed are not getting copied.

The thing is like this....
i have a released request in which we have more than 1200 objects, in that i dont need 10 objects.
so when i create it as copy of transport request, i just deleted those 10 objects and saved.
Now, if i transport the new request how many objects will go? 1200 or 1190?
in the new request i am getting the old request under Comment: Object List Included.
is it necessary to transport the old request?
i need to transport only 1190 objects.

How could I restore everything in Firefox having new hdd replaced and Windows reinstalled?

Due to some reasons (possibly boot sector problems/virus infection) my laptop (running Windows XP Pro) failed to boot up last week. I've replaced a new hdd and just have Windows reinstalled.
The old hdd is in place and data on it is still accessible.
Version of Firefox was 3.6.4 (continuously upgraded from 3.0 beta 2), with all defaults installed on the old hdd.
Is it possible to restore everything (bookmarks, addons, history, preferences etc) in Firefox on the new hdd by copying files/folders from the old one? And what files/folders in specific?

I want to make presentations on the go using Internet images and keynote. How can I get images from websites copied into my photo album, as that seems to be the only way you can add a image in keynote. Is there legal problems involved in it? Because I can do it no problem using my desktop etc.

Click and drag is your friend!
This thread probably belongs in the safari area, but anyway:
If you click and hold, there should be a cursor that appears with a file. Then, simply drag it to your desktop where the file will appear.
Or:
Right-click (control-click) the picture and there should be a 'save image' or 'save image as' option. Select that, then save it!
Afterwards, simply find the file in your screen saver options in system preferences, and then select it.

Is creating a back up image of my laptop as simply as booting up to disk utility, clicking the hard drive on the left, clicking "new image" from the disk utility menu and saving it to my external drive?

BB z10 dead after bluescreen, how to copy or backup files?

My BB z10 went completly dead after bluescreen. It wont charge, connect to computer or anything only led is flashing twice all the time. Phone was running on 10.3 os and about two months ago started randomly shut down, even with battery on 60-70%. First i pulled out my phone from otterbox case cause I thought it was due to overheating it helped a little but afer few weeks it started again. Second I thought it was due to not connecting baterry pins so i put a little pice of paper for better connection. This helped for about a month. Yesterday phone again shut down without no reason so I pulled it out from otterbox as always and phone turned on normally. After few hours bluescreen appeared and phone went completly dead as I described. After connecting phone to computer it finds him for a few seconds and on BB link i can reset the phone, or cant I because when I try to do it phone connection is lost after few seconds. The thing is i cannot simply change the phone or OS due to important files i have. Is there any way to copy all the files or backup them from that dead bb? the files are encrypted but i can decrypt them later, i just want to copy all of the data. Please help

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
If the device will not stay powered up, there is no native way to extract the files from it. This, of course, is the reason that backups are a pro-active, not a reactive thing to be done.
Further, if you used the device encryption for those files, then no you can't "decrypt them later"...they can only be decrypted on that specific device. If you used a different encryption method, then of course you can use whatever it supports.
Based on all you describe, I suggest you obtain access to an identical device that does not have problems. Trade batteries and see what happens. The result will narrow down if your battery or device itself is the root of the problem.

Hi, I'm struggling with the most basic process in PSE 10. I have selected an area in a photograph - now I want to delete the rest of that photograph and add the selected area as a layer to another photograph. Having spent hours searching online, I'm hoping someone can give me an answer please.

Hi Barbara, I can't explain this but it seems to be working now, even with the Tiff format. I'm doing exactly what I was doing before - selecting an area on the photo, then pressing edit - copy. Before I was getting an error message, but now I can copy the selection into another Tiff. I must be doing something different or I must have changed a setting - I have no idea what, but the problem seems to have gone away. If only every problem was that simple!
The upshot is I can now edit in both Tiff and PSD and am really delighted with the help I received from this forum. I know they were very basic questions, but sometimes those are the hardest to answer.

Export the bookmarks to an HTML file in the Bookmarks Manager and import that file in the new setup.
