How to copy cell content without formula

In numbers, how do I copy and paste the cell content without transferring the underlying formula?

Use the menu item "Edit > Paste Values" when pasting instead of <COMMAND>+v (paste)

I'm trying rev 5 for OSX. ALV aesthetics is really great but: copy cells content is not possible anymore.
Nothing happens with command+C.
I cannot copy anymore just a part of the cell content.
Trying all possible key combinations, something is copied with Ctrl+C. When I paste it, the pasted content is something like this:
(0100),RID(),CID(),RIDN(0),E(true),RO(false),CTL(-1) (0000012338),RID(),CID(),RIDN(0),E(true),RO(false),CTL(-1) (),RID(),CID(),RIDN(0),E(true),RO(false),CTL(-1) (),RID(),CID(),RIDN(0),E(true),RO(false),CTL(-1) (),RID(),CID(),RIDN(0),E(true),RO(false),CTL(-1) (),RID(),CID(),RIDN(0),E(true),RO(false),CTL(-1)

How to copy the content in XMLtype column between databases

Does anyone know how to copy the content in XMLtype clumn between databases? I tried insert as select via database link and it gives me the following message:

in my eyes the second statement
select ... xmlstring_column ... from table@remote_side;
causes the error. Columns of type XMLString internally are stored as CLOBs in Oracle. Unfortunately there are restrictions on statements for CLOBs and remote locators.
It seems you cannot say
SELECT clob_column FROM table@remote_site;
Remark: For me this is a showstopper for the datatype XMLString if you cannot run a simple statement like this one. It seems you can do an insert and an update but no select.
On the other hand your first statement
INSERT INTO table_local SELECT * FROM table@remote_site;
should work following the documentation.

How do I get the line above the tasks, which allows you to edit the cell contents, without double clicking the cell?

As title says.
Normally in Gantt Chart View, above the tasks there's a line which displays the contents of the cell you have selected, and allows you to edit the contents without having to double click the cell.
In my case, this line is not there, and it is slightly hindering my work.
So, does anyone know where I should go to re-enable this line?

Copy cell content in OBIEE 11g

I am unable to copy the cell content from OBI dashboard.
Is this OBIEE 11g bug? I am using OBIEE 11.1.1.6.0

Hi,
This workaround may not be the best but might serve the purpose.
I selected a cell and created a group for the value. Then I selected that group and viewed it's definition. This showed me a single value (which I wanted to copy). I copied the value and pasted to another application.
This worked in analysis as well as on dashboard. I could create a group of more than one cell and copy all the values of that new group to paste to another application.
I then deleted the groups. While using dashboard, I simply clicked 'Back' or 'Return' to remove the groups automatically.

How to copy source code without line numbers?

Dear all,
how can I easily copy source code from a post or thread. When I do it via the mark the text and CTRL-C I always have the line numbers also in the clipboard. It is anoying to remove 100+ line number to use the posted code from a thread in my IDE.

Do you mean how to copy text out of a forum post without the line numbers?
If that is the case, then unlike the previous response I do think it is a forum issue and a browser incompatibilty. I noticed the same issue between Firefox and Safari under Mac OSX. While Firefox allows me to just select the text without the line numbers, Safari would not.

In fact, using Firefox verson 22 for instance, I cannot select the line numbers at all. Even when I select the whole page, line numbers are ignored.
Perhaps you should try with another browser.

How to copy original content from memory card to a...

I ordered a memory card for my 6233, and tried to copy the contents of the card to my PC, in order to get them onto the new memory card - but I get an "access denied" message when connecting the phone via my USB cable in storage mode. I assume this is because the content is copy protected.
Is there anyway of copying the data from my old miniSD card to my new one, using Windows?

I suppose you could write a procedure using a bunch of DBMS_METADATA.GET_DDL() commands. Find out all the objects user x owns and loop through them, getting the ddl for each of them and executing the DDL for user y?

Thanks Wayne but it doesn't work for me. Using the above routine just copies and pastes the borders of one cell... no contents either.
I have got around it by going into pages and pasting it there and it works beautifully. So it obviously copies both contents and borders but why wont it paste them back into numbers?

property.
     You can get content form textFlow use deepCopy() method.

How to use cell contents to indirectly reference other tables?

I think I need to use the INDIRECT or ADDRESS function here, but I just can't seem to structure it right. Does anyone have ideas?
I have a model that uses multiple tables, and I want to be able to enter table names, column names and row names into a new table, and for it to go and look up the right value in that TABLE::ROW NAME, COLUMN NAME.
In more detail: I have a table called SITES that has columns called Site1, Site2 etc, and rows of information such as Name, Phone, etc. I also have a whole series of tables called OPTION1, OPTION2 etc etc, which also have multiple columns for Site1, Site2 etc, and then rows of different information for each site, labelled Alt1, Alt2, Alt3 etc.
What I want to do is create new tables for reports, where I can enter eg OptionN in one cell, SiteN in another, and for that table to lookup the value of table OptionN::SiteN AltN. I need this to be built into the formulae partly for data integrity purposes eg, if the table shows Site1 name, and Option1, I need to be certain that the information in that table truly reflects Site1 and Option1 information, and also because I want to be able to create some simple whatif comparisons by changing a table from say Option1 to Option2 and seeing the difference.
So far, I have tried entering OptionN in A1 of the new table, and SiteN in B1, butI can't find a formula that will then go to table OptionN (A1) and lookup eg SiteN (B1), AltN. The AltN term would be written into the formula rather than referenced from another cell such as C1. I've tried the following sort of thing - none work:
=&A1 &"::" &B1 &"AltN"
=INDIRECT(A1&"::"&B1&"AltN")
=INDIRECT(ADDRESS(AltN,B1,,,A1))
I'd be very grateful for any help, as the ability to create tables that will lookup info from elsewhere using contents of its own cells will transform Numbers for me from a novelty to a seriously useful tool.

Here's a primitive example that, I believe, in your words "will transform Numbers for me from a novelty to a seriously useful tool".
In the Result column we have the nice little expression: =INDIRECT(Site&" "&Alt). You should be able to take it from there.

How to copy music library WITHOUT copying settings

I know that there are some similar questions. I promise that mine has some differences that I have not been able to find elsewhere.
My setup is a house full of laptops that all stream music from a central iTunes installation. For years, we've just used my wife's computer (windows) as the iTunes hub. She makes the most purchases and her computer is in a central point in the house so it's easy for the kids to make purchases on our family's account.
Recently, I bought a mac mini and have been turning it into the home server. I want it to also become the iTunes server. At the same time, I would still like my wife's computer to be where we make our purchases.
Accordingly, I setup rsync on a cron job to sync the entire library from my wife's computer to the mac mini. This way, all purchases are moved to the server within a day. My wife's computer still has the whole library, but she doesn't have to stream it to everyone else now. In fact, I turned off sharing for her iTunes installation.
Everything works except for one small problem. Because iTunes ludicrously saves preferences to the iTunes library, when I copy it over using rsync, it copies my wife's settings including having sharing disabled. I tried writing an apple script that could turn sharing back on, but it appears to not be possible. I thought that maybe I could just copy newly purchased media files over instead, but that loses the playlists.
Basically, I need to be able to buy music and create playlists on my wife's computer and have them sync to the server on the mac mini. My wife's computer should not share its library but the mac mini iTunes should. Any suggestions or ideas would be much appreciated.

Just use this Applescript to launch iTunes on the mini after every Library sync/change. It works for me in iTunes 11 to change the preferences of the target computer*:

If you've never used applescript before, you can make a single Applescript with both your Unix commands and this, just by prepending the Unix command with "Do shell script" (without quotes) and whatever you would type.
