How can I copy fontcolor, size and type from one text to another in FCP?

You can't. At least not if the text clips are already made.

Can I copy font attributes to many titles at once?

Hi,
I really like that CC has introduced the ability to create copies of a title on the timeline... but once you have many, many titles on the timeline is it possible to copy and paste font attributes from one title to all the others? I need to change the font size of about 100 titles and currently I need to open each one individually and change the setting. Any advice most appreciated, thanks

I discovered a handy help for this problem. It isn't the feature you (or we) want but it is a help. I recently used the otherwise apparently useless Title Styles window in the Pr title tool to make my own "Style". I too needed to update a bunch of titles with a new font size.
1. Change one Title to the style and size you want
2. Use the menu for the Title Styles window (upper right of the Style Library window) to save style with "New Style..."
the current style with all its attributes will appear at the end of the style library. Drag it up to the top of the list so you can click on it easily.
3. Go to the next Title you want to change and ctrl click on the style you added to the library and chose "Apply Style with Font Size". (I don't know why this isn't the default when just clicking on the style in the library, but maybe that's just because of my needs)
There is no "New Style Library" command so I went one step further and saved the Style Library under a new name, found the XML file in /Users/YourUserName/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro/7.0/Profile-CreativeCloud-/Styles/MyNew-workingset.prsl (using TextEdit-on a Mac)
And deleted everything that didn't look like it belonged to the style I needed. Now I have a clean library. A lot of hoop jumping but...

Please help-how to copy & apply attributes to another file

I just started learning AE CS5.5 and I am stuck.
I am trying to duplicate or copy the attributes from a jpeg file in an existing layer in a comp that has already been created. I am not interested in duplicating the image, just the attributes (transform, material options and other imbedded characteristics that are part of this file)
The file I want to apply these same attributes to is a .psd file which has multiple layers I want to apply these same effects to.
How do I duplicate these attributes so they retain the same settings?

Duplicate the layer with the effects & keyframes & whatnot; yes, duplicate the layer.
Highlight the duplicated layer, then Option-drag the replacement footage from the project window onto this duplicated layer. Poof! Done!
I guess it would be alt-drag on a windows box.

How to copy the attribute values of one instance into another instance.

Say I have 3 instances and two attributes name ,id.
inst1 : id:1 ,name:abc
inst2: id:2 ,name:bcd
inst3: id:3 ,name:efg
now I want
inst: id:1 ,name:abc
bcd
efg
i.e is need to abort instance inst2 & inst3 before that copy the names bcd & efg to inst1.
Please let me know how to do this its very urgent.

The tricky part of this is to provide your third instance a way to find the other two instances. Finding instances in a process is a bit like finding rows in a database. When doing a SELECT statement in a database, you have a primary key that will guarantee you that you'll only retrieve one row. In Oracle BPM there are a couple ways to do this. One way is to use the instance's id (the predefined variable id.id) to search for the two instances. Another is to use a "correlation" to find the instances.
This example assumes you'd like to look at instances based on a search filter. This filter assumes that you have a customerId variable that both of the instances share. It only returns those instances currently inside the process (the SearchScope logic below being set to "StatusScope.ONLY_INPROCESS" in the logic below). The only incoming variable it needs is the "customerId" variable that has already been set to some value in the other instance. Note that this uses the Fuego.Papi.ClientBusinessProcess object. This logic creates a search filter and only returns instances that meet a certain criteria (the two instances in the process). Once you get the instance, the "getVar()" method retrieves the "name" instance variable. This assumes that you have an instance variable "customerNames" defined as a String array that you are using to store the names retrieved from the two instances. The "abort()" method aborts the two instances it finds in the search.

How to copy Font Book.

I have an iMac with about 500 fonts in the Font Book. I would like to duplicate my Font
Book on a second iMac. Is there a way to copy or export the Font Book from iMac 1
to iMac 2 ? Both Macs are running Mountain Lion 10.8.4.

To automate what you need to do, I would suggest exporting the fonts from both machines into differently named folders and then move the folder from the machine with the ~500 fonts to the iMac that the fonts where will be installed.
Next, use the Terminal command diff -qr Folder1 Folder2 to determine the differences. You can paste the output from this command into a Numbers spreadsheet and sort the diff command output which will allow you to easily determine what needs to be done.
Then use the Terminal commands rm and mv to organize the font folders so that each folder contains the fonts that need to be installed on the respective machine. This can be done by pasting the spreadsheet data in a new TextEdit document and then using the Find and Replace ability of TextEdit to format the Terminal commands. Next, copy the formatted Terminal commands from TextEdit into the Terminal windows and press enter.
Once that has been done, use FontBook to install the fonts. (Select all the fonts in a particular folder and they can be all installed in one operation).

How to change font attributes on multiple paths at once?

I am trying to change font size on multiple paths at once but as soon as I select them the font options become unavailable (greyed out).
Is it possible to do it?

Willi is essentially correct but I think his message is being drowned out by the allcaps enthusiasm
If you select multiple paths with the Selection tool (the black arrow) then you cannot alter type formatting directly. Seasoned InDesign users rarely manipulate type by direct formatting; instead we apply a paragraph style to all of the type, and then change the paragraph style. If all the text on those paths was marked with the same paragraph style, then you could just change the style.
You could do it other ways, but they're all suboptimal. For instance, if all of your text-on-path was set at 11 points, and no other type was set at 11 points anywhere in your document, you could use Find/Change to specify a Find Format and a Change Format under More Options. If all of the paths were marked with the same Object Style, then you could make a new Paragraph Style and specify it in the Object Style.
But if you drew those paths by hand, then they have the Basic Graphics Frame object style applied (like everything else you drew in the document) and if you didn't style the text then every bit of text has the Basic Paragraph style applied (like every other bit of text in the document). So you're either going to do it by hand, or... you're going to follow Willi's allcaps advice.

How to copy attributes (as in which playlists) from one song to another

Does anyone know how to copy the characteristics of a song--as in which playlists it appears in--from one song to another, so that the new song then appears on all those same playlists also? Or, if not, maybe you have some other idea for me:
I'm working with a Mac. I have several hundred playlists with ~100 songs each, and about 3,500 songs in my iTunes. Most of these songs are currently AACs. I've realized I have a problem: If I want to burn disks with MP3-format songs, I will need to convert the AAC to MP3s to burn them. If I don't want to have thousands of duplicate songs, I will need to trash the AAC versions of those songs from my library. If I do that, they will disappear from the playlists they are currently in (one song might be in 20 different lists). If I had to manually take each MP3 version created, look at which playlists the original AAC version is in, drag the MP3 version to each playlist, and delete the AAC version, it would take a Looooong time. Does anyone know of any shortcuts? For example, is there some way to copy the information about which playlists a given song is in and then paste that info onto the new version so it now appears also in these playlists? Or some other idea? Thanks very much!

How to Copy the formatting of text already in an indesign document?

Hello everybody.
I'm still fairly new to indesign and am self taught so feel I have missed some of the little tools that make life simpler.
One such problem I'm having is that when I import text into my brochure I'm creating, I need it to be formatted the same as the rest of the text in my project. Is there a simple way for me to copy the formatting style in the rest of the document or do I have to choose the specific font, colour, size and justification every time I import some new text?
I know in Microsoft word for example there is a specific button which copy's the formatting from one section of text to another, is there a similar kind of button in indesign?

You can use the Eyedropper tool to copy type attributes. But you are probably much better off learning how to use Paragraph Styles and applying them consistently. That way when you need to make a change, all your paragraphs will update in lock-step.

Hi Venkat,
You have 2 Value Nodes one for Table1 and second for Table2.
Table1 node having one more Value Attribute i.e check Box data type is Boolean. Now you are requirement are select records from Table1 Node and click on One Method that records will moves to Second Table2 Node.
Create One Method for getting the Records from 1-Table to 2-Table
CopytoTable2 ()
In this method you have to write code like this
If (wdContext.nodeTable1.Checkbox(true))
If(1. Check the Table1 Value Node Size()>0)
Get the Table1 records and set to table2 Value node.
Else
Please select check box// Error message

Copy Paste Attributes

First off - I will admit I am a FCP editor who is figuring out Motion in fits and starts. Basically what I am building is a bullet point graphic of 5 list items where it starts with all 5 visible, fully opaque, and after a couple seconds, 4 lines dim to 10 percent opacity and the 5th line grows larger and moves to the center. I built the first version of this, keyframing all the opacity and move/grows. I then save the project and rename it "2nd line move." What I want to do is be able to copy the attributes from the one line that grows and moves ("1st line move") to the new, renamed project. In FCP I use copy/paste attributes for situations like this. I can't seem to figure out how to do it in Motion, without pretty much creating new keyframes on each version of the same graphic.
What am I missing?

hi,
a simple way is to click on the object you have animated, and then simply to click and hold on the position parameter name in the inspector and drag it to the object you want to copy the animation too.
You can do this for the scale parameter as well.

They don't have Russian fonts, so I have to type the text in Russian in Notes in my iPad, send it to my e-mail box, and then open the e-mail box in Mac, and copy and paste the text into the book template of Blurbs. I don't know how to make a Russian keyboard in Mac to be able to type quickly. I asked about it in the Apple store, and they showed me how to find a Russian keyboard in the net, but it takes much time to type using a screen keyboard, and the texts also cannot be copied and pasted, when they are in Russian. They are erased when I press 'command+C", and all I have is a single letter 'c' instead. No problems with texts in English. Maybe Russian is not supported for copying and pasting?:(

How to reset font size tool to work?

I copied and paste text onto a pic on photoshop and it has completely resized the whole workshop. Everything, now is so small you can see it. I can select 72 pts but then it's just barely large enough to read. What has happened and how do I restore things there way they were?
I have Photoshop 6.

CS3 copying paragraph attributes

Quark had a keyboard shortcut for copying paragraph attributes from another paragraph in the same thread. You would click in the paragraph you wanted to copy from, click the shift and option keys and then click in the paragraph you wanted to change. No eyedropper, no scrolling thru a long list of styles. Does InDesign have one? I have not been able to find it.

Mostly it's just less overhead to do it the XPress way. Your cursor is already in the text you want to change and you can see the subhead it needs to be styled like 3 paragraphs up on the page. Control-option-click and you're done.
For the production team, who basically makes money on how fast and how accurately they can set the stuff, I don't think $20 is a wasted investment to keep them in the groove. We're talking about a department where you get chastised if you use the mouse to select a menu or palette item that has a keyboard command associated, because moving your mouse is about 10x slower and harder on your carpal tunnel.
Maybe for more casual users it's not worth it. It depends on how much you value your speed.

It won't. The text will be broken in mid-sentence. Cumbersome to work with etc. Plus you don't have the styles translate across. Which the op wants.
A more elegant solution perhaps would be to move all the text to the upper most layers, where possible.
Turn off the text layers and save the layout etc. as eps or pdf, and open whichever one you choose in Illustrator.
If you just want the text with styles - colours etc. then do the following
Then in InDesign turn off all layers except the text layers.
Export this text to RTF.
Then in illustrator import the text using File>Place and choose the RTF - styles will be transferred with the RTF text.
