How to copy one account preferences into another account on the same mac?

I would like to open a new account (on the same mac) but would like to copy some preferences including software from the existing account. How can I do that?

To copy files from Account A to Account B:
1. Log in as A.
2. Find the files you wish to copy.
3. Move them to /Users/A/Public. Don't move your actual Documents, Pictures, Library etc folders. Just move their contents.
4. Log in as B.
5. Navigate with Finder to /Users/A/Public.
6. Drag the files to the desktop to make new copies of them.
7. Put the files away in the appropriate places in B's home folder.
8. Log back in as A and move the files in /Users/A/Public back to their original locations.

How to copy one application to a new workspace in the same HTMLDB instance?

Hi,
I have an application running in production and I need to duplicate it into another workspace in the same instance, using another db schema with imported objects from the original one, as my area here has just been split in two and now we need two separate development environments. I tried exporting it from the old workspace and importing into the new, but when I try to install the app (using a new id) I just can't do it through the htmldb interface, as i get a timeout and page not found. I tried then to run the dump script directly in the database, but I couldn't find any reference in the script to a new application id or workspace, and after trying I found out that it only changes the owner of my original app (as I chose owner override when exporting).
Does anybody knows how should i do it to ?? Perhaps there are some variables in the script I could change to make it into a new app in a new wokspace ??
PS. I'm using HTMLDB 1.5, and it would be very difficult to change to a new version right now.

Assuming u have apps in workspace1 .And u want to import that apps and install it in new workspace2.So before that u need to create workspace2 pointing to the diff schema that u mentioned .
Then import the apps and install.......i dont know why you getting timeout .Ideally it should not have any error except the version compatibility.If u export using 1.5 then u can import it into any upper version say 1.6 .
One thing u can do run the exported script from sql*plus and track the error .If there is no workspace identified from HTMLDB interface that means ur exported file is not version compatible or u can change p_provisioning_company_id of sql file and put the value of ur present workspace p_provisioning_company_id and then try to run it from SQL*PLUS.
I also suggest u to upgrade from 1.5 to 1.6 or 2.0 to get more benefit of the fixed bug....

Mountain Lion: Copying mailbox from one user to another user on the same mac

When I bought the mac I had only one email address. Since then I have accumulated 3 more addresses. I created another User on the same MAC to seperate the personal emails from the 3 new email addresses, that I use for business.
There are some mailboxes from the 1st account that has business information in them that I want to move to the 2nd User account (with the 3 e-mail addresses). I though that I could save them in the dropbox and then save them into the 2nd User accounts like I did with the documents and spreadsheets, but this does not work.
I really need to separate the Family Personal email information from the Busines Information and I do not want to just send lots and lots of emails to the accounts to get them there.
I am not using Cloud at the moment because it created some syncing issues. Because the 1st User Account and email account is synced with an iPad and iPhone that my wife uses with an Apple ID. The 2nd User (and 3 mail addresses) are synced with my iPhone and a separate Apple ID. We have separate ID's because she did not want my personal & business contacts seeping into the family email accounts
I know that this is long, but I wanted to provide as much information as possible, so that I can resolve this.

I spent quite a few hours after this was posted trying to figure it out and I did.
Select Mailbox > Export Mailbox. This asks you a location to export the mailboxes to. It just uploads the exported mailboxes into Dropbox.
Then change the User that I want to import the mailboxes into. Select Import and select the location of where you placed the folder in Dropbox. This then imports the mailbox into a folder called Import. You then drag and drop the copied mailboxes from the Import folder to the folder in the structure you have. If you decide to delete the folders from the import folder list, do this. You can also delete the copied folders from Dropbox if you wish.
Took a while, but I got there and I'm happy now....

How can I share a folder between two users on the same mac?

Hi all,
I would like to share a folder between multiple users on the same macbook without having to transfer the folder to the Public/Shared folder.
Is there not a way, using the the folders shared permissions, to allow shared folders from one user to be visible and usable by another user on the same mac without having to move the folder to a designated shared location?

Hold down the option key while starting iTunes and make an new library. Will it open then? If so, you have a bad library. With the new library import the library.xml version of the file in your iTunes folder. This will make it 90% like before (some metadata are not identical, but I don't know which ones).

How can I [cmd]+A including text boxes? Or how to import one Pages document into another Pages document?

I am working on my thesis with several Pages documents (for the first time). And I really have searched all over the Internet to find an answer to exactly my question but I cannot find it.
First my question was: How can I import one Pages document into another one? I found the answer on that (I think) and there is nothing else than just make a new section and copy/paste it in.
But then another issue pops up: I cannot [cmd]+A my whole document including the texboxes to paste it in the other Pages document. Then the document will be paste without the textboxes (and I have quite a lot of them in that document) and the text will not be at the right place.
So please explain to me: How I can combine two Pages documents and keep them exactly the way they are? Is that even possible?

Depending on how many pictures you wish to share there are different options.
1) Steps to share your whole iPhoto Library
A) Share your photos
Firstly setup a shared folder that the other user(s) will be able to access. This can be done in System Preferences, Sharing, then selecting the checkbox next to 'File Sharing'. You'll then want to select the folder to share and also the users who can access it.
In your instance, I would suggest sharing the folder where your 'iPhoto Library' file resides, which is most likely going to be in the default 'Pictures' folder. The other user will then be able to access your 'iPhoto Library' in their iPhoto application under their user account and see all contents in your iPhoto library.
B) Configure the other users iPhoto to access your shared iPhoto Library (or any library of your choice)
Logout of your account and into the user who requires access to your iPhoto Library. Find the iPhoto application, press and hold the option/alt key and click to open the application. 'What photo library do you want iPhoto to use?' will appear in a window, click 'Choose', navigate to your preferred iPhoto Library and iPhoto will now load your pictures.
2) Steps to share a few selected pictures
You will follow the same steps as above in order to setup a shared pictures folder, however in your user account, drag and drop photos out of your iPhoto library into a shared folder which the other user can access.
Notes:
The method of sharing your whole iPhoto Library means that both users will be accessing/editing the same library. This means you will be able to see pictures imported/edited by each other. If this is undesired, you can create a copy of your iPhoto library on the 2nd user account instead of both accounts running the same library from a shared folder.

How do I move i-tunes from one Hard Drive to another HD on the same computer.

How do I move organized photos from dropbox to iPhoto and share with another user on the same mac?

I have about 3,500 photos sitting in dropbox and just purchased my first mac yesterday. My husband and I each have our own Ipad and our own user id's on the mac. I moved two of the folders to Iphoto and it shows up on my screen in the right folders. However, on my Ipad, it shows all of them under one Photostream and not organized. They don't show up on my husband's "side of the computer" at all.
So my questions are:
1. How does one mirror their file organization on the Ipad?
2. How does one share all of the folders with another user on the same Ipad so they can view folders, and add pictures to the folders if they like?

If you use the Photo Stream, the organisation in iPhoto will be lost - there is just one endless stream. YOu could sync your photos using iTunes. Then you will see the synced albums in the Photos.app on the iPad.

On the same iPad? Do you mean on the same mac?
If you want to share an iPhoto library between two users on the same mac, the iPhoto library should be on a separate disk partition or even better, on a separate external disk. Then you can set the flag "Ignore ownership on this volume" to avoid permission problems. Both of you will be able to browse the iPhoto library and can edit the photos within.

If both of you want to keep separate iPhoto libraries but share the photos, you could share selected albums as Shared PhotoStreams and invite each other to browse them. This would require iOS 7. Do you have iOS 7 on your iPad? Each Shared Photo Stream will be shown as a separate album on your iPad .

Copy a text layer to another image in the same location

I am trying to find a way to copy a text layer in one image to another image of the same size so that the text layer is in the exact same location.
Basically I have two images for a rollover button for a website. What is the easiest way to copy a text layer to the other image so that it will be in the exact same location to create the rollover effect?
