How to copy peraonal movies

HI,
My sister has a brand new mac, she has a sony hd camera but mac does not recognize it. So she copies here sons hockey games from the camera to a cd through her dvd recorder.
She needs to know how to make multiple copies on her Mac as she is passing them out to her team.
Any help I can pass along would be great.

I am surprised that iMovie does not recognize the camera. Anyway, it's easy to make copies of the DVD.
1. Put the DVD in the drive.
2. When given the option, select Disk Utility.
3. Select the DVD in the list on the left.
4. Click on New Image.
5. Choose the Desktop for the location and click Save.
This creates a copy of the disk on your desktop. Now you need to make a copy on a disk.
6. Drag the Image file to the list on the left of Disk Utility
7. Put a blank DVD in the drive.
8. Select the Image from the list.
9. Click Burn.
10. Review the options, but you can just leave the default, and click Burn.
Voila! You have a copy. Now just repeat steps 6 through 10 to make additional copies. When you are done with the image you can simply drag it to the trash and it will autamatically be removed from Disk Utility.

    Do you know how to copy a movie from a Panasonic NV-GS70 to an iMovie Project?

    There is a link for an update for the USB driver here:
    http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=Panasonic+NV-GS70&ie=UTF-8&o e=UTF-8
    Other than that follow the directions for connecting it to a computer and in iMovie select Import
    this should lead to a dialog for selecting clips for import.

  • How to copy Quicktime Movie to DVD

    I took some movie clips on a Nikon L4 camera and saved them to my HP Pavillion as Quicktime movies. I would like to copy them to DVD to play on my DVD player. Can I do this and if so how? Do I need Quictime Pro?
    HP Pavillion a1600n   Windows XP   using Nikon Coolpix L4

    You will need third-party software that can create a video DVD (QuickTime Pro will not create a video DVD). I'm sure if you search the net for something like "Windows video DVD create" you'll come across numerous such products. You'll need to make sure that any product you choose can import QuickTime movies, or get conversion software that can convert a QuickTime movie to a format your DVD application can handle (QuickTime Pro might do this, but you'd probably find freeware apps that could also do the conversion).

  • How to copy youtube movie

    Is it possible to make a copy of a youtube movie on a DVD? My wife is doing a presentation and would like to end with this movie from youtube either embeded in the powerpoint slide or on a separate DVD. Is this possible?
    imac G5 1.8   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    You can download the flash based youtube videos with help of a webpage like http://www.techcrunch.com/get-youtube-movie/
    After having it on your Mac you can convert it into Quicktime format using iSquint and drag the resulting file (A) into the clipboard of iMovie. From here go to iDVD. If you have Toast you also can make a Video CD or DVD directly from the QuickTime File (A).
    The quality may not be very good though!

  • How to copy or move by recipient Group

    I need to copy email sent to and received from members of several Groups in specific folders.
    This is of course easy for email received, because Mail rules and Smart Mailboxes enable selecting by Sender is a member of a Group.
    Why, oh why, can I not do this for mail I send TO Groups? Like Clients, or Tenants, or Soccer Moms?
    Am I missing something?

    That's right, and adding recipients by hand is not practical, especially for multiple groups, numerous members, and groups whose membership changes. In terms of practicality, for this capability I would readily trade the other touted improvements Leopard brought to Mail, apart from its new ability to pick up date and time information (which still only gets us part way back to the system-wide capabilty prior to OS 10).

  • How to Copy and Paste a table in InDesignServer CS3?

    Hi:
    How to copy or move table from one textframe to another in
    InDesignServer CS3?Thanks in advance.

    Shane has the right idea, but it's actually a character that holds a table. For example, with two text frames labeled "Source" and "Target", this:
    mySource = app.documents[0].textFrames.item("Source");
    myTarget = app.documents[0].textFrames.item("Target");
    mySource.insertionPoints[0].move(LocationOptions.before, myTarget.insertionPoints[0]);
    runs but does nothing, while this:
    mySource = app.documents[0].textFrames.item("Source");
    myTarget = app.documents[0].textFrames.item("Target");
    mySource.characters[0].move(LocationOptions.before, myTarget.insertionPoints[0]);
    moves the table I had put right at the start of the source frame.

  • My external hard drive will not show up in iMovie 10.0.4.  How do I copy my movies into it?

    My Mac OSX 10.9.4 has both iMovie 10 and iMovie 9. I've started uploading all of my videos from my camera to iMovie 10 and have not worried about my external hard drive. Now it's been a couple months of putting those videos onto iMovie 10 and I just connected my external hard drive and it doesn't show up in sidebar anywhere.  Is this new to iMovie 10? How can I copy my events and projects to my external hard drive from imovie 10?
    If iMovie 10 is the issue, I will gladly begin using iMovie 9 again, but will need those events to get into iMovie 9.  Is there anyway to move movies in iMovie 10 to iMovie 9.
    Thanks for the help!

    Hi bwright22,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
    It sounds like you want to copy videos to and from an external hard disk in iMovie. Take a look at the article linked below, I believe it has the information that you're looking for.
    iMovie (2013): Work with multiple libraries
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14745
    Show or hide the Libraries list
    You select libraries and events in the Libraries list.
    To show the Libraries list: Click the Show button  on the left side of the toolbar.
    To hide the Libraries list: Click the Hide button  on the left side of the toolbar.
    You can also choose Window > Hide Libraries (or press Shift-Command-1).
    Copy or move projects, events, or clips between libraries or hard disks
    Connect a hard disk that contains the target library to your computer, or copy the target library to your computer.
    Choose File > Open Library, and choose an option from the submenu.
    You can choose from recently opened libraries at the top of the submenu, locate an existing library on your computer, or create a new library.
    The selected library is opened in the Libraries list, with the first event selected and its contents displayed in the browser.
    In the Libraries list, select the event that contains the item you want to move or copy.
    In the browser, select the item you want to move or copy.
    Note:   To select multiple items, hold down the Command key as you click the items you want to select, or drag a selection rectangle around the items.
    Do one of the following:
    To move items between events or libraries: Drag the clip or project to another event or library.
    To copy items between events or libraries: Option-drag the clip or project to another event or library by first starting to drag and then holding down the Option key as you drag.
    I hope this helps.

  • How do I share my movies with my wife's iTunes account on the same iMac, without having to actually copy the movie into her library?

    I apologize if this is already in the forum somewhere, I simply could not find this question being asked anywhere.  We have an iMac running Lion with all of the latest updates as well as the latest version of iTunes.  All of the digital movies we've purchased through iTunes, have been purchased through my iTunes account.  However, my wife is the one with the iPad, and syncs it with her own iTunes library and her own Apple ID.  I have turned on Homesharing for my library, and she can see my library from within her iTunes account.  We turned on the feature to automatically copy new movies into her library so that she could sync those movies onto her iPad.  However, I quickly discovered that it is literally storing a second copy of the movie file in her iTunes folder, and therefore eating up precious hard drive space.  Is there a way for her to "check" movies in my homeshare library from within iTunes to sync with her iPad when she connects it, without actually copying those movies into her iTunes folder?  If not, any suggestions on how we can solve this issue?

    What you're describing is the expected behaviour.  I believe though that is also is the easiest way to have all the contents available to both of you at all times.  If you have a spacious hard drive you should probably allow this to happen as anything else will be harder to manage.
    My suggestion would be the following if you want to try something different.
    Store all your music at a location that is accessible by both of you — an example would be to use your Public Folder as the locations where iTunes will go and look for all the media files—.  Your wife does have access to it.
    In the Finder you will need to move the folder name iTunes Music to the location in your Public Folder (see above).  Once that's done, you and your wife will have to go into the iTunes Preferences > Advance Preferences and un-check Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library.  From this point on, you can continue to use iTunes as usual.  You'll need to tell your wife what has been newly downloaded/imported into your iTunes so she can manually go look for those items in that Public Folder iTunes of yours and import them into her iTunes.  She will not duplicate by doing that, but, like I say this is an all-manual work.
    She can do the same, so you have access to contents she imported herself.  One more downside of this is that both usernames have to be active in your iMac.  If yours isn't, she won't be able to access any item (song, book, app) located in your Public Folder's iTunes.
    I'm sure there's a way, if you have an router with external hard drive conectivity, for both of you to be able to access —independently— the iTunes Media at all times but I was just reading at another post that doing so can further complicate things.
    Hope this helps.  Please let me know what you think or decide to do.

  • How do I copy (not move) entire LR library to new hard drive?

    Thanks in advance. I can't seem to find any advice about this in the forums: I would like to consolidate all of my image files onto one  hard drive by copying them from multiple drives to one large new one. The desired result is that I would have my library on that new drive, with all the links making sense to LR, but leaving the original files on those original drives as an archival back up. I know how to MOVE the files within LR, but I can't figure out how to COPY them. If the image files were not already in the catalog, I would just import them using "copy and add to catalog." Worst case, I suppose I could move all of the files to the new drive and then export copies to the old drives, but that seems very time consuming. I have more than 3TB of files. Ideas?

    Do a copy in your operating system, and then you have to point Lightroom to the copies, as explained here (scroll down to "Updating Folder Location")

  • How can I copy a movie through homesharing

    How  can I copy a movie with the new itunes through homesharing?

    I don't think you can truly "copy" anything via homesharing.  Homesharing just lets you "borrow" (stream) the movie from another device ONLY if you remain on the same wifi while you are streaming it.  As soon as you leave that wifi's range, you won't be able to see it anymore.

  • Movies in iPhoto 08 - How to Copy to iMovie 08

    Hi there,
    Is there a particular way to successfully copy the movies in iPhoto 08 (was upgraded from iPhoto 06) over to iMovie 08 (also upgraded from iMovie 06 but I never had movies in there).
    The iPhoto is grayed out when I try to import.
    However, I clicked on a movie, used QuickTime to Export it to Movies. Then I imported it into iMovie. Unfortunately, no sound is now heard when played back. I used the default settings with the H.264 format.
    Are there other settings I should be using to allow sound to be played in iMovie?
    Is there a better way to get all the movies over to iMovie? If so, please let me know what it is and how to successfully accomplish the task of copying them over.
    Also, when I click on the photo icon in the lower right of the iMovie display area (next to the "T" icon) I can see my iPhoto folders but I cannot locate any of the movies. I even created a new album in iPhoto and all the movies are in that album but I cannot access it in this area. Any ideas on why and how to resolve this?
    Next. What is the best way to back up all my iPhotos onto DVD and which format is the best one to use for this task?
    Any assistance is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Is there a particular way to successfully copy the movies in iPhoto 08 (was upgraded from iPhoto 06) over to iMovie 08 (also upgraded from iMovie 06 but I never had movies in there).
    How you need to "convert" files depends on their source compression format. Muxed formats like MPEG-1/MPEG-2 need to be converted using an MPEG-based, third-party application like MPEG Streamclip (free), iSquint (free), FmpegX (donation-ware), Visual Hub (pay-ware), etc. since neither the audio nor video content can be edited/imported by iMovie '08. Using QT based applications like QT Pro, iTunes, GarageBand, etc. will lose the audio since QT cannot demux/convert both in a single pass.
    Compression formats like Kodak's MPEG4/µ-Law combination in an MOV file container will not import because the µ-Law audio cannot be edited. In this case, you can use the "Movie to MPEG-4" export option to "pass throgh" the video data without re-compressing it but convert the µ-Law audio to MPEG-4 (AAC) which both matches the MPEG-4 video and is easily editable in iMovie '08.
    AVI files like Casio's MJPEG/DVI ADPCM combination suffer a similar problem. In this case the Motion JPEG video is once again quite acceptable to iMovie '08, but the audio cannot be edited. In this case, the audio can be extracted, converted, then re-merged with the video track and placed in am MOV file contaibner. However, owing to the "interleaved" format and "half frame" difference between audio and vide, some people prefer to simpy "convert" both audio and video all at once. Either approach will work here since since these audio/video formats (like MPEG4/µ-Law) are "conversion" compatible with any QT based application.
    The iPhoto is grayed out when I try to import.
    If the compression format cannot be edited by iMovie '08, it will not import it. Unlike previous versions of iMovie which automatically converted imported content to DV for editing, iMovie '08 imports and edits the in file's "native" compression format -- i.e., nothing is converted during import.
    Only the photos are displayed here. Look for your movies under the "iPhoto Movies" heading in the "Events" list on the left edge of your screen. If located in your default location (i.e., your start-up drive) they should display automatically if they can be imported.
    Next. What is the best way to back up all my iPhotos onto DVD and which format is the best one to use for this task?
    I back mine up on an annual basis. You can either "back-up" the given year's library or export the files by event, folder, etc. for general use (e.g., sharing on DVD, printing, posting to online servers, etc.) as you may prefer. I choose to do the latter
