How to correct list of available drivers

Drivers for all sorts of HP products I'll never buy, and a ton of others Iv'e since forgotten; Drivers (or at least their names) for Apple, OKI, and other printers I won't use persist in the drop-down list entitled "Print Using:...Select a Printer to Use"

How to remove list of available actions in cs5

I installed actions in 2 places and now i have duplicates in the available action list (click the arrow to the right of the action tab to see the menu for add, remove, options etc and a list of all available actions and sets).
I removed the actions from
C:\Users\Hal\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Presets\Actions
and from
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit)\Presets\Actions
and yet i still have the huge list of available actions in duplicate.
How do I eliminate these?

Ah, my mistake. I didn't understand you fully.
I believe the actions that show up in that menu are in one of these folders:
Photoshop 64 bit:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit)\Presets\Actions
Photoshop 32 bit on a 64 bit system:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Presets\Actions
Photoshop on a 32 bit system:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Presets\Actions
You would need to move/remove the .atn files from the above folder(s) to get them to stop appearing in that list.

Getting List of Available Drivers from jar Folder

I'm trying to build a very very basic DB admin software for personal use (and if it works I'll turn it into an opensource project for people smarter than me to play with)
And I'm stuck with this problem:
I want the software to load DB Drivers at runtime, from a JAR folder. The same way Eclipse loads it's plugins.
Something like this (folder structure)
MainApp.jar <-- executable
/drivers/mysql.jar
/drivers/oracle.jar
/drivers/etc.jar
When I run MainApp the program should load the list of jars and tell me "you can use: mysql, oracle, and ETC"
But I can't find anything on the matter. I need an instance of the driver to get the properties (name) of it and I need the JDBC url to get an instance of the driver...
Is there any way to achieve this by having just the path to the drivers folder ?

Basic Steps
- Read files in the folder with the jar extension. There is a class somewhere that does this and returns a list of files.
- Open the jar. You will need to learn about the 'zip' package - look for it in the java API.
- Sequence through the contents of the jar looking for any classes that implement the JDBC API. The base is the Connection interface. this requires loading the classes.
Once you do that an enhancement is to use a class loader to load the files. That way you can unload when done.

How to correctly update video chip drivers

I am currently using Boot Camp with Windows 7 64 Bit on my MBP Early 2011. My question is how can you successfully update the video chip drivers when using windows 7? When I try to install drivers the AMD updater can not recognize my video card. But my games have made it clear that I am not running the most recent drivers

You realize this has been asked 100s of times, right?
Don't use Auto-detect. Download the driver. Unzip. Uninstall Apple gpu driver. Run Driver Sweeper 3.x maybe.
You may be able to install. If not, use Device Manager to update and find the driver you unzipped.

How to list devices available ?

Hello all,
I am new on the NI forum and I recently followed Labview training (Basic 1 & 2).
I would like to know how to get the list of available devices and the type of them.
Ideally I would like to have an array of that form :
Device Name          Device Type
Dev1                       NI PCI 4472
Dev2                       NI PCI 6731
Is there a way to do that with Labview ?

Short Name: DevNames
Property of DAQmx System
Indicates an array that contains the names of all devices installed in the system.
This returns all device names without making an assumption about naming conventions such as Dev1 to Dev6. daqMx allows for naming the device with meaningful names through MAX. I would encourage using daqMx, I found it a large learning curve over traditional DAQ but was well worth the time. I would also assume with DaqMx there will be a phase out of coding using traditional drivers over the next several years (I could be wrong about this) .

How do I install windows 7 drivers correctly on my macbook pro retina?

I've installed Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) twice now, and each time I get on, none of the bootcamp drivers seem to be installed correctly. This means I can't access the internet because a network adapter isn't present, and I can't play games because the NVIDIA drivers aren't there. I've seen other people have had this problem in the past, but their fix was to download bootcamp 3.x from Apple's download site, but obviously that doesn't work now as the version is newer.
Does anyone know how to correctly install Windows so this doesn't happen, or how to get the drivers installed correctly?

For 2 reasons, and they are about the hardware.
1) Apple/Mac and BC restrict the way you use the computer. Maybe not for you but for me. It does not allow you to create any other parttitions for Windows to use. You can't even re-partition the BC partition into 2 drives. That will HOSE the Windows system and maybe the OS X part.
2) Apple/Mac does not allow the use of all the hardware. You can not use both graphic cards. switch between them. Windows Must use the descrete graphics adapter which cause the system to run hotter. This is a limitation imposed by Apple as with Reall Windows PCs that have both the Interl embedded and add-on descrete graphics you can switch between them.
Actually BC 4 has been out since Lion shipped on new Mac's. BC 4 also restricted the installation of Windows to just Win 7, no more XP. Which was what you could do with Snow Leopard and BC 3

We have two Airprint capable printers thagt my wife uses with her Samsung Galaxy s4 but both printers are NOT listed on my iPhone 4s. any ideas why and how to correct??

There are a lot of posts in the forums today with people having problems with iMessage. There was also a published outage yesterday, so it's possible there are still some issues that may be impacting you both.
I would just wait it out - I'm sure it will be sorted out soon.

I frequently receive emails asking me when I'm free for a meeting. I'd like to reply with a list of available times between specified dates. How do I do this with existing Mac software or commercial products? I've seen such listings from Outlook.

BobbyH5280. Very helpful answer! I am XP for the next week on CS6. I did find 3 items that helped. The fonts are in AI, but are listed on the bottom of the list. Also in Edit/Preferences/Type, checking "Show Font Names in English" makes the font list easier to read (doesn't appear to change the sort order though), and (with your suggestion) checking "Sow Asian Options" might do something positive. Thanks to all of you who sent in tips.
