Of course that also depends upon how accurate you need to be and what the string contains. It is completely possible that there might be a line break which doesn't have a trailing or leading space.
Like that.
In that case Flash's representation of the string is likely "...space.\n\nLike that.." In chich case "space.\n\nLike" will be a word.
Also if you split on space and there are places where there are two spaces in a row you could inflate your number. So somthing that changes newlines (and returns) to spaces, then removes any multiple spaces in a row, and finally does the split/count thing would be more accurate.
But it all depends upon what you need.

In InfoCube I have data:
person ID (characteristic), points (key figure), gendre (characteristic), org.unit (characteristic)
1313; 10; F;5001
1313; 10; M;5001
1313; 12; F;5001
1313; 6; M;5001
1515;20;F;5001
Report, with data from this InfoCube, should look like this:
org.unit/number of employees, 6 points, 10 points, 12 points, 20 points
5001, 1, 2, 1, 1
Could you give me a suggestion how I can count the number of employees?

you can crate 4 CKF one each for employee points, and in each of the CKY have a data function value =1 if <your condition is satisfied>. This way the CKY will have a value of 1 if point is 6 for the first CKY and similarly for the rest and use exception aggregation based on person ID to count the no. of employees with that particular point in the Org unit. Use org unit in the rows and these 4 CKY in the columns and you should be able to get the report.

I need to display values in a script. but the alignment getting distrubed if it is less than 20 charaters, for exmple material descirption is only displaying 20 characters in script. if it is less than 20 charcters the alignment getting changed.

solution to this problem in script is not to count the characters but to align them based on positions .
1.
Use the tab positions for that paragraph format to display the values in a finite format .
In this u need to give the position start and position end length and use the same in the script as
p ,,&itab-f1&
say my value has to print from position 125mm to 155 mm
i take one tab position for this paragraph format P and maintain the same in the output.
here ,, is the tab position .
See whether it is one character or 20 character it has to behave the same way it should not be misaligned .
check the tab position for that paragraph format in Tabs ..

Hi,
Goto the T.Code "SE16" or "SE16n" or "SE11".
Enter the table name as VBAK
Enter the created on date as the starting date of the period and to date as the end date.
Enter.
Click on "Number of Entries".It will tell you the number of entries created in a particular period.
If you want a report,goto the T.Code "VA05n".

I am trying to count "Number of Completed Line Items in Purchase Order Document" for my Key Figure ZPO_CNT.
Purchase Order document = ZEBELN
Line Item = ZEBELP.
I need to find and count if the Line Item has been received in the past 6 months from today and similarly in the past 12 months.
I have "Delivery Completed" field, ELIKZ.
So, based on this would I be able to calculate it in Query Designer?
If so, Please let me know how

If youe want to calculate the completed line item for last 6 or 12 month then i think u will be displaying the query data for these montrhs...create a customer exit to give you date range and restric it in filter area....
Now Choose any of the below option
1. I would suggest to implement an additional key figure "counter" in cube and fill values with one for which delivery is completed.
Now use calculated key figure in Query Designer based on logic
IF counter = 1 THEN counter ELSE 0
OR
2. create a formula variable based on ELIKZ and use replacement path variable, it will display you no. of docs for which delivery is completed....

The simplest way is to call GetTableCellRangeValues with VAL_ENTIRE_TABLE as the range, next summing array elements.
But I don't understand your comment on checksum, so this may not be the more correct method for your actual needs: can you explain what do you mean?

count(*) will be the fastest way. It is only slow if the table has a vast number of rows, in which case why do you need to know the tables has 73552436467721 rows and not 73552436467737 rows. It doesn't seem to be much use. Either that or you are counting them a lot, which again seems rather pointless.

I dont have a defined Restricted key figure yet.
I have populated 0COMPL_DEL(Delivery Completed Indicator) and 0EBELN (Purchasing Document Number) and 0EBELP (Line Item Number in Purchasing Document) .
This is what I think how I need to calculate:
Number of completed line items in past 6 months:
If Delilvery Completed Indicator (0COMPL_DEL) = x, calculate No. of Line Items (ZPO_CNT) from 0CALDAY to 6 months
and
Number of completed line items in past 12 months:
If Delilvery Completed Indicator (0COMPL_DEL) = x, calculate No. of Line Items (ZPO_CNT) from 0CALDAY to 12 months
Please let me know if the logic is correct. If so, how I can create this in report

I have created a cross-tab report and have managed to get the data out as below:
             Jan     Feb     Mar....(display of months will auto expand) Avg/Mo Total

I want to insert a calculated column (Avg/Mo) into the cross-tab report based on the formula: Total/Number of Months. I used this calculation formula for Avg.Mo column:
(GridValueAt(CurrentRowIndex, CurrentColumnIndex+1, CurrentSummaryIndex)/GetNumColumns)
However, I get the wrong average since GetNumColumns count the total number of columns including the column of Avg/Mo and Total.
How do i get the number of columns, excluding the Avg/Mo calculated column and Total column?
PS: I can't use hardcode since the number of months/columns will auto expand the months progress...

ok managed to solve this by slightly changing the formula:
GridValueAt(CurrentRowIndex, CurrentColumnIndex+1, CurrentSummaryIndex)/(GetNumColumns-2)

I need to use this count to suppress some headers. Because of this i am not able to use running totals. Is there any other way?

I'm the author of a cross-platform scientific data acquisition/analysis program (C++ using Qt: Windows and OS X). I'm just getting started on adding support for NI digitizers. It's tougher than I was expecting - there's so few helpful code examples. On Mac OS X I'm stuck with NI-DAQmx Base. I'd be very grateful if someone could help me with a couple of basic questions...
1) How do you determine if the computer has an NI digitizer installed?
1a) Is there a way to count the number installed?
2) How do you synchronize things so that the input and output streams start at the same sample point?

DAQmx base does not have property nodes, therefore we cannot
programmatically determine information about the cards. We typically refer to
our high-speed scopes (51xx series) as digitzers, in which case, there are no
drivers for MAC. Our other DAQ cards, E-Series (60xx) and M-Series (62xx) work
with DAQmx base according to the readme.
If you are using a DAQ card, I would like a bit more clarification about question 2. When you say start at the same sample point, do you mean start simultaneously so that the input and output start at the exact same point in time? If so, I may suggest triggering them both off of the same digital line.
