How to count rows in a group =Count(Fields!FirstName.Value,"GroupByInitial")
I have a tablix grouped on column a and detailed on column b.
I am trying to count the rows in 3 separate ways.
CountDistinct(Fields!A.Value) =work perfectly on group column
CountDistinct(Fields!B.Value) = work perfectly on the detail column
But now I was
Count(Fields!A.Value) = on the group column but I get all the detailed count 13 instead of just the group count of 4.

Based on my understanding, you want to calculate the count of the group fields, right?
In your scenario, if you use Count(Fields!A.Value), the expression returns a count of specified values evaluated in the dataset scope. So it’s expected that you get count of all Fields!A.Value instead of grouped fields. Since you want to calculate the count
of grouped column fields, you should use CountDistinct() function.
As we tested in our environment, we specify the expression with CountDistinct() function, we can get expected result.

Hi All Expert,
Is there any way to limit row number per group without change new page in crystal report 2008. The reason i do that is due to customer using printer EPSON LQ 300 (dot matrix) always will print in landscape if detech my layout in landscape. Because they need the record always print in 1 page (Letter size) for 2 groups and each group must show 5 records. Example:
But, in CR2008, if you set the row per group from group section expert, definitely it will change to new page, but I do not want it change to new page. Any Idea?
In one page (Letter size):

I guess it is not possible.
Because if you have one common group for all the 10 records then in one page it will show 10 records under one group.
I mean i think it is not possible but m not completely sure......

How to store running sum of group header fields
HI All,
I am bit confused how to do this so writing the post here. I have a group header which gets the amount spent by cost centre by account number
the group contains the following fields
[Account Number] [SDESCR] [sum of coscentre1] [sum of costcentre2] and so on.
The end result i get as follows
Account number Description Coscentrenumber1 CostCentrenumber2 and so on
100 cash at bank 6000 7000
200
and so on
now i want
Total Sumof(Costcentrenumber1) Sumof(Concentrenumber2)
how can I achieve this ? am confused how to store the value of [sum of costcentre1] into a shared variable and use this shared variable in page footer to display the total ?Let me be more clear I need the out out something like
Account number Description Costcentrenumber1 Costcentrenumber2 Costcentrenumber3
100 6000 7000 800
200 4000 5000 300
Toal 10000 12000 1100
the account numbers are placed in Group header so that we group all the transactions by account number. Say for example when i said account number 100 above in the backend
it is as follows
Account number Costcentrenumber1
100 2000
100 2000
100 2000
In the crystal the above logic is placed in Group header by creating Group Name fields
so that end result in the report it is shown as
Account number Coscentrenumber1
100 6000
Now in the report at the end i want the sum by Costcentrenumber.
as 10000 shown above.

I have a history in the SQL world, where it is quite easy to write a SQL code to get out the rows from a table with duplicates in one spesific field. (Beeing indexed or not)
I have tried to search for this option where we diplays the content in an PSA. but not found it.
Anyone having a good solution for this.
(I am not an ABAP-er)

SELECT count( * ) langu

endselect.
e.g. language E is assigned to 27 users.

we have 2 group counter, 1 for pc and 1 for set. apperantly the one for pc is deleted/removed.
Is there any way to get this back?
Seemes that it is out there since I get this message when try to create a new.
"The inspection plan identifier exists already. Enter another" I was hoping that I could recover or something like that since we have around 100 000 material numbers in this inspection plan.

If you deleted the inspection plan, no issues you can check out in MAPL & PLKO table
Otherwise try out the Sap Note 332626
This will work if you have deleted the group counter, it brings the group counter back and also the materials assigned to that task list.

How to include row count in report
I have a report which shows list of available classes for students to register. One table called reg (which is not included in the report) keeps student_id and class_id numbers so that we know who signed up for which class.
I'd like to count rows in the reg table and group them by classid and then include results in the report so that we know how many students already signed up for each class. How can I do that?I assume that you are providing the report with some SQL to pull in the available classes. Why don't you put in a sub select where you are doing a count on the other table?
So for example,
SELECT a.CLASSID, a.CLASSNAME, (SELECT COUNT(*) FROM STUDENTS where CLASSID = a.CLASSID ...Your group by, etc...) as Current FROM CLASSES -

Is there a way to know, if for a given set of materials, what groups and groups counters have been used to create the current cost estimate. Or for a given comboniation of material, group and group counter has been used to create a current cost estimate. I can look each up through displaying the cost estimate but I am looking for a quick way since the number of materials are in 100s.
I was wondering if there is a table I could look up to get the info.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Analytic function to count rows based on Special criteria

I have the following query with analytic function but wrong results on the last column COUNT.
Please help me to achive the required result.Need to change the way how I select the last column.
1)I am getting the output order by b.sequence_no column . This is a must.
2)COUNT Column :
I don't want the total count based on thor column hence there is no point in grouping by that column.
The actual requirement to achieve COUNT is:
2a -If in the next row, if either the THOR and LOC combination changes to a new value, then COUNT=1
(In other words, if it is different from the following row)
2b-If the values of THOR and LOC repeats in the following row, then the count should be the total of all those same value rows until the rows become different.
(In this case 2b-WHERE THE ROWS ARE SAME- also I only want to show these same rows only once. This is shown in the "MY REQUIRED OUTPUT) .

So the issues are
1) the count column values are wrong in my query.
2)I dont want to repeat the same rows(Please see EXPECTED output and compare it against the original)
3)Want the output in exactly same way as in EXPECTED OUTPUT as I dont want to group by thor name(Eg. I dont want the count for all DUBLIN ROAD but I want to examine rows for the next one, if THOR/LOC combination is different in next row then COUNT=1 else COUNT=Count of no. of rows for that thor/loc combination until the combination change -So there are same value multiple rows which i need to show it in 1 row with the total count)
I am explaining below this in more detail!!
I only need 1 row per same THOR/LOC names coming multiple times but I need the count shown against that 1 row(i.e COUNT= how many rows with same thor/loc combination until THOR/LOC combo changes value).
Then repeat the process until all rows are finished..
If there is no multiple row with same THOR/LOC coming in the following row-i.e the following row is a different THOR/LOC combination, then the count for that row is 1.
Hope this is clear.

My procedure takes in a schema and get some data related to that schema. I want ot count the number of rows for each table and table partition stored in the table object_size_history. I was looking into adding a REF CURSOR so I can loop through the tables, table partitions. The Loop is not working for me. A normal cursor with the FOR UPDATE OF clause is a better bet. You do have to use dynamic SQL for the other selects, because we can't use a variable in a FROM clause.

I'm trying to run a query that will count only rows that are max timestamp.
i have a submit table which has dates of submissions, however some application numbers have multiple rows in this table. I need to count only one row per application and it has to be the latest submission data.
I have tried a subquery and its not working, I'm stuck at this point.

i use a single group by query to analyze a data table.
like "select avg(parameter1), sum(parameter2), count(case when...end) from datatable where ....".
Following problem: I want a median of a count without rewriting the query completely, accessing the table several times or something.
Easy example - in Detail:

I want to have the median count of data values, to filter out slots with more or less values.
this worked, until there where only slots with less data:
SQL> SELECT FLOOR(COUNT(DISTINCT SLOT||DATA)/COUNT(DISTINCT DATA)) FROM datatabl

4but when there is a slot having more data - it won't work, the very simple and stupid calculation will give a too little value

the count delivers the distinct count of slots for each data (possible duplicated entrys should not be counted)
And I want the median, which should be 4.

1.Each routing is stored against a group and group counter no.
2.When we create routing without respect to any material and only by giving the plant,the set of operations gets saved under one
group counter and group no.
4.Many materials can be assigned to this same group and group counter no,so that the routing is valid for all the materials included.
5.When you create a routing for material specific,the set of operation gets saved in a group no and group counter no as 01,when
you create another routing with another set of operations for the same material,plant and task list combination now the group no
remains same and the group counter gets saved under 02.
6.This data can be further helpful in assigning the routing data in the production version,.

I have a list column name "category" with values like Completed, Not Completed, Started.
I want to group list items based on category. I want to format it without showing all the list items so that it should look like:

According to your description, you might want to change the format of the list view to display without list items.
I would suggest you debug the script in browser to watch if
listItem[group] object contains a valid Count property.

If your requirement is to display something like a static HTML table, an alternative way is that you can apply custom CSS to the page to hide the unwanted elements.

GL Codes Marked for Deletion - Segregation
Hi, The users have some GL Codes that are in the Chart of Accounts but have been marked for deletion. The users now want these GL Codes to be segregated from the normal ones being used, by using a prefix such as "Z" or "X". Is it possible to do so an
