How to creat a "gif"

Hello everyone -
I am attempting to take a photo and create a gif from it. I have reduced it to small size and duplicated it 25 times. now i would like to "add motion " to it. does anyone know a simple way to do this?

How to create a GIF from inside an SWF?

I have a Flash application that allows users to arrange
images, in the form of imported SWF MovieClips, into a scene of
their choosing. I would like to save these custom scenes into
static GIF files on the webserver. I'm not sure if this is possible
solely with ActionScript or if I'd have to do some work with PHP/GD
or Java, but I have seen it done before (Yahoo! Answer avatars) so
I know it's possible.
I'm very new to actionScript. So far I've found the functions
for dealing with bitmap data but none for file creation. Can anyone
point me in the right direction? As you may guess, it's hard to
Google for variations of "flash create gif" because this is also a
function of the development tools.

I'm sorry octav20xx, was there a particular result of that
search that you thought I should look at? Of the first page of
results, most are links to utilities for converting SWFs to
animated GIFs, which as I mentioned is not what I want to do. The
rest of the results seem irrelevant to my question.
Perhaps I wasn't clear. I need the SWF to automatically
generate static GIF files based on dynamic user input. I have
already done a lot of searching on Google for a solution but found
none; this is why I am asking here instead.
Can anyone help?

How to create animated gif`s on elements 5?

Hi,
I created few layers and in that made a box which will go from top to bottom.
Now I keep all my layers visible and then select file > save for web and then nothing happens.
I also tried file > save as > and tried saving the file in gif and in the save option selected save layers as frames. And then clicked on save. Then also nothing happens, the file is also not saved.
Can anybody help me with this?

Edit: First make sure you are in a Administrator account. If on Windows Vista, also make sure you have Elements set up to "Run as Administrator".
Edit: If on a Mac, read "To make Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac "Save For Web" work" second post on this page:

Check if it works before going to next step.
The "Save For Web" dialog box could be off screen. Try resetting the "Save For Web" preference file.
If you are on Windows, press and hold in the ctrl + alt keys as you go through the file menu and select File<Save For Web. A dialog will come up asking something to the effect of do you want to delete your "Save For Web Preference files". Click "OK".
If you are on Mac, do the same as above except your shortcut keys will be cmd + opt.
Check if it works before going to next step.
If the above doesn't work, reset your application preference files, press and hold in the ctrl + shift + alt keys when you launch the editor. Do not release these three keys. A dialog will come up saying something to the effects of "Delete Adobe Photoshop Elements Settings file?". You can release the three keys once this dialog comes up. Click "Okay."
If you have a Mac, follow the above directions except the shortcut will be cmd + shift + opt.

How to create soft GIF edges?

I have a character that fades in over the background of a hallway. As a GIF, it has jagged edges. Any ideas how I can make it soft edges?
I have two images to show the difference. The image with soft edges also used Captivate to fade in the character over a background.
EXAMPLE: HARD EDGES - click on the image to see in 100% size. (do not want)
EXAMPLE: SOFT EDGES (I DO want)
Both use Captivate to fade in the person over the background after 2 seconds.

Does the source GIF's have those jagged edges?
If yes then you hav to edit that in an external image editor (say photoshop, and feather the edges)
If the source GIF's are proper, then you can increase the slide quality to high and check if it solves the problem..

How to create an animated gif with CS4?

Trying to create an animated gif from 8 images using FW CS4. Can't find "how to" via online FW help. Have done it before with version 8 -- followed the in-house Help db but CS4 doesn't have in-house db. I found a tutorial: http://www.entheosweb.com/website_design/animated_gifs.asp, but talks about opening Frames panel (Windows > Frames) and I can't even find the Frames panel in CS4!
Just trying to create simple animated gif as temporary portfolio. Would also like to click on a different link for each image as it rotates if that's possible but main thing is just to create the gif.

For the first part of your question
File > Open, then at the bottom of the dialog Tick the open to Open As Animation.
Then browse/select multiple images, then Open.
This will automatically add each image to a State (Window > State, previously called Frames).
Then adjust the Frame Rate of each State. The default is 7th/100 (a sec). You should see the number 7 to the right of each State. Double click to adjust as desired. 100 = 1 second, 200 = 2 seconds and so on.
Once the animation is configured, go File > Save As > Animated Gif.

You understood me correctly but the properties of the documentation tool
doesnt exist
after building the application (Runtime Version). Only the Menu "File /
Print Window" option is present. Therefor I looked for another way to do it.

Creating a GIF using CS3

I am trying to create a GIF using CS3. I have read the discussions on Adobe but I get to a stage in the instructions and it is not working for me. I have 6 jpeg photos, and i bring them all into one. All photos are named different. After reading the forums, the next step is FILE>SAVEAS. Next, you select COMPUSERVE.gif. Once I select that, I have no idea where to go. It would be much appreciated if someone could help me out. Thanks

Creating a gif that is a progression of filter effects

I want to take a single image and create a gif from it that is a sequence of frames with a particular Photoshop filter effect going from a maximum to zero effect. Lets take for example a Gaussian filter. The initial frame would have a heavy Gaussian filter applied and the last frame would have no filter applied. I want the effect to take maybe a second or two with 10 to 20 frames per second.
I don't imagine this will be trivial or easy... that's not my question. My question is if anyone has suggestions on how to optimize the work flow in creating this effect.
I'm a programmer and I've done photoshop javascript programs in the distant distant past if that might help but I'm not sure if this project requires that level of effort.

Yes. This is much easier than I expected. The wonders of progress.
There are two ways to do it. Your method is more general purpose and more accurately accomplishes my original objective. Another method is to make one duplicate layer and apply the filter to it. Then create a video timeline and change the opacity of that layer from 100% at the beginning of the time period to 0% at the end of the time period (two "key frames" ?). Then export the gif.

Here's how I do it:
Create your page as normal, remembering that emails can't contain any flashy stuff like Flash or Javascript (or even animated GIFs sometimes).
Upload the images to your web server (MobileMe/.Mac space will do if you don't have your own) and that they are linked as such in your <img src>es.
To be sure that all can read it (sometimes email programmes have trouble with HTML messages) place a copy of the html on the server too and link to it at the top of the page with something like "If you're having trouble viewing this, please click here".
Preview your page in Safari then select Mail Contents Of This Page from the File menu. This will open a new email in Mail with the HTML embedded in it.
Voila!

How to create rollover text on an image

I'm a non-coder I'm using Dreamweaver CS4 to create a personal website. I know next to nothing about CSS, but I think I understand how to create a style and apply it to elements.
My website has several image galleries, and what I'd like to be able to do is create a rollover text box of some kind that floats up in a fixed position when mouseover on an image. What I'm looking to do is basically what this website does on their top header image:

I've experimented some with spry tooltips but I want the text box to be in the same position and not wherever the mouse is pointing at the time. I have done hours of searching and I cannot come up with a solution to this (at least not one that I understand) and it's quite possible that I don't even know the terms to search for.
What tools or terms am I describing here? What should I be searching for?
Can anyone point me to a good tutorial to do what I'm asking? Please give me the dummy version!
